Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Time to be thankful and we truly ARE thankful that our family so far is healthy and we are doing everything in our power to stay that way.    Mom and Dad are staying home (which I love because I get more ME time!!) and other than going outside for walks in the yard with me, they are just taking drives in the country when they get “cabin fever” then coming right home.   We hope and pray that ALL of you will stay healthy too!

We received our poetic email from Angel Sammy too – he says all the Angels are working overtime to help us down here to stay SAFE……..and Healthy.

♥♥♥

Hello Poetry Fans!

I hope this post finds all of you happy and healthy and being patient as the world goes through a HUGE change with the virus going around.    Angels are at work to protect you.    Please follow guidelines and suggestions even if it’s “inconvenient” because it will keep you all SAFE!

Ready to be poetic?   That will lighten things a bit………………if you wrote a poem this week from last week’s photo let us know in comments – we want to read it!     Below is the photo I gave you to think about and write about AND my poem to go with that photo.

“Escape”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©March 18, 2020

In these days of uncertainty and concern

Our minds go to places where the clock barely turns

Endless days full of relaxation and rest

Our imaginations sometimes know what’s best

Calm beaches, slow paces, and no big concerns

Healthy futures and happy lives are where our mind turns

Believe in the future and an end to this worry

Let your mind take you to places where life’s pace is NO hurry

Until the day when we learn that things are all clear

Do your best to stay healthy and hold those you love very near…………

It’s a worrisome time – we must believe in ourselves and our ability to overcome obstacles like we’ve had throughout history………….Do what is recommended and keep yourselves safe.    That’s the best way right now…………and stay HOPEFUL.    If you can lend a hand to someone you know might need it – please do.

Here’s your photo for NEXT week’s poetic Thursday:

Sweet…………………..the world needs a dose of SWEET!    Share your poem for this photo with us next week and I’ll do the same!    Meanwhile……………………..take care of yourselves please.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love and Angel Hugs…………..Angel Sammy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Happy Thursday!    It’s time to think about what we’re thankful for – although if you’re like we are here, we are thankful every single day for one OR MORE things!   Anyway, anyone who would like to join up with Brian’s hosted Hop – just click the badge above and link up with us.

I’m super thankful that Mom and Dad are finished decorating the Christmas tree and house.   All that noise and rummaging around in boxes and bags – it certainly makes napping difficult.   One super good thing about it is that the “under the tree” new Lionel Christmas Train Dad got looks VERY cool under our tree.    I don’t particularly care for all the noise it makes with bells, whistles and a conductor announcing the stations BUT it is fun to watch it go round and round if Dad isn’t making it do all those effects with the remote!     I enjoy lying under the tree snoozing…….nice!

I did get an email from Angel Sammy with his poem for today – another reason to be THANKFUL.   I always love seeing his poems on Thursdays!

Greetings Poetic Friends!

Time for us to get together and share the poems we have written this past week based on the photo I gave you LAST Thursday.    So much fun – I so enjoy reading your poems and I’m pleased that several of you have taken up that challenge and joined in the fun writing a poem once a week inspired by a photo.    If you wrote a poem and would like to share it – please let us know in our COMMENTS that you have a poem and give us your link so we can read it – OR you can write your poem in our comments if you prefer.

Here’s the photo I gave you last week – followed by my own poem.

“Closet Space”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©December 4, 2019

Clothes, shoes, blankets and bags all over the place

We’re always running out of closet space!

Apartments here are ever so small

Sleeping bags line every single wall!

Student housing – there’s never enough

Five of us in a one bedroom apartment with lots of stuff

The only problem that causes us all some pain

Is bringing it all back inside whenever it rains!

A short poem but it was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw this photo.    A little bit about this photo though from my Mom – she lived in Taiwan for two years and in a very crowded downtown housing area it was not at all unusual to see this sight – nobody had enough room – and often the closet in the apartment was OCCUPIED by a family member as a bedroom (!) so clothes were hung up on the balcony to save space.    Whole families would live in a small apartment so space was definitely at a premium and a closet was more of a “private bedroom” than a place for clothes.    Mom didn’t live downtown – she lived with other American service families up on a mountain in a military compound BUT she went to school in downtown Taipei and the bus drove through areas on the way to school that looked much like this (only not this large of a building).     Interesting photo though isn’t it?    A bit mind-boggling!!!

So – are you ready to see the photo I found for you for next week?????

BRRRRRRRRR…………..just looking at this photo makes me cold.   Thankfully, it’s NEVER cold here at the Rainbow Bridge – always perfect – day after day.    Just one of the PERKS we have here – it’s nice for sure but not as nice as if we were back home with you!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

See you next week!   Write a poem to share – we’ll do that next Thursday OK?

Love, Angel Sammy

Purrfect Angel Sammy……we’ll see you next week for sure……sending love to you.

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

It’s TWO FOR ONE DAY!

First up for us today is being THANKFUL with our friend Brian – we all post what we’re thankful for lately and share our posts by joining the Hop -you can do that too if you click Brian’s badge above and fill out the LINKY form.   Why not – I’m sure you have something you can be thankful “out loud” for!

What am I thankful for today?   One thing is that in spite of the ridiculously hot and humid weather, my Mom and Dad continue to indulge me by taking me out on my harness for walks – actually we don’t do a whole lot of walking………I just take them down into the edge of the woods where I get underneath a forsythia shrub and lie down to watch through the foliage as birds and squirrels run by or fly overhead.   It’s like watching TV.   Very entertaining.   Mom and Dad can sit on the swing/bench there and hopefully NOT get bit by mosquitoes (sometimes those sprays just don’t QUITE keep up with the bugs!).    I’m also thankful that Mom got my reservation at Paws A While Pet Hotel CONFIRMED for when they desert me go away for a few days in October.   I love the place – I was there LAST year when they went away and those Sisters sure know how to spoil me!

I’m also thankful of course that we got an email from Angel Sammy which contains his poem for this week AND a photo for next week.    He said in a “P.S.” to me accompanying the poem that he hopes more of you decide to give writing a poem a try.   I hope you take him up on that challenge!!

Here’s his email to us……………..

Hello Poetic Friends!!

You know that August 28th was Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day and I just want to say one thing………..you all spent the day recalling your pets of the past who were no longer with you and who were residing where I am here at the Bridge…….well, just so you know, up at the Bridge, all of US spent the day remembering all of YOU and wishing we could be with you again.   Love goes both ways you know.   One day we’ll all be together.   Believe it.

Now on to happier things – POETRY!    Did you write one this week to go with the photo I gave you to use as inspiration?    I did!    Here’s the photo you were to use to write your poem and following that is MY poem.   If you wrote one yourself – BRAVO!    Please give us a link to your poem OR write your poem in our comments.

“The Long Rest”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     July 29, 2018

When at last our long rest arrives

We don’t want tears in our loved ones eyes

We hope they know we are in a beautiful place

Our youth returned, smiles on our face

Our pain is gone, our infirmities have left

The only difficulty we have is to have you bereft

Don’t be sad because we are physically gone

We’re always there – from dusk to dawn

We’re by your side – we’ll kiss your cheek

We’re on the wind – no need to speak

In dreams at night we’re busy too

You’re NOT alone – we’re there with you

Our time had come when we had to leave

It broke our hearts to see you grieve

Remember one day we will welcome you here

It will be a joyous reunion – so have no fear………………

I hope this won’t make any of you SAD who have recently lost someone in your family be they human or animal because the leaving is painful but where we are, we are happy and waiting for the day we’ll be together again.   The statue in the photo above is so beautiful – and she looks like she’s merely asleep……..resting peacefully.    Someone put flowers in her outstretched hand – but believe me – SOMEONE was there waiting to take hold of her hand and welcome her “home”.

Now how about a photo for next week?    See what you can do with this one for inspiration!!

Can you say HAPPY????   Oh yeah…………………I’ll look forward to meeting you here NEXT WEEK and we’ll share some poetry OK?    Join in the fun – everyone can write a poem – doesn’t even have to rhyme…..it can be in ANY form too.

I hope all of you have a terrific week ahead.    My little brother Teddy talked about his “Thankfuls” for the Blog Hop with Brian and I have a thankful to add of my own.   I’m THANKFUL that all of you are continuing to stop by Teddy’s blog and join in the fun around here…….with Tuesday Teasers, Poetic Thursdays, Bacon on Saturdays – lots of fun to be had around here I’d say.

See you next Thursday everybody…………………….hug someone you love today.   You’ll be happy that you did and so will they!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Happy Thursday!   Time to be thankful for another week………………..this Hop is sponsored by our good friend Brian and you can join in and tell us your Thankfuls by clicking his badge above.   Fill out the LINKY tool and tell it like it is.     My “Thankfuls” this week include that Mom and Dad finally got the deck resealed and I can now visit it on my “walks” around the yard.   It was off limits for several days while the work was going on and now I can go up there and hang out if I want to.    Another thankful is that even though we were expecting a whole lot of firework noise yesterday we didn’t have ANY until last night and even that wasn’t so bad.    I wasn’t scared at all (well, hardly anyway!).

The other part of my post today is sharing the email I got from Angel Sammy via his wifi connection at the Bridge transmitting his regular Thursday poem to us.    YAY!    Below is what came through……………

♥♥♥

Hello everyone!    Here we are again on a Thursday sharing some fun with poetry.    By now you know that on Thursdays I not only share my poem with you that I based on the previous week’s “photo inspiration” that I gave, but I also give you a challenging photo for you to write a poem about for NEXT Thursday when we get together again!    Just put into words what the photo I give you “says” to you – how does it make you feel or what do you see/think about when you see it?     Pretty easy right?   Well you may think you can’t write a poem but you CAN – trust me.    Here’s the photo I gave you last week for you to write a poem about for today – followed by my poem.

“Movie Night”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    July 5, 2018

Drive In movies were very popular in the past

But like lots of things, they just didn’t last

People now prefer a cool movie theater seat

Rather than outside in a car – but back then it was a treat!

Date night meant going to a drive-in, getting popcorn, cokes and candy

Sitting close to your boyfriend in the car with the window speaker quite handy

Intermission you’d walk around, visit friends or get more snacks for “part two”

All around you other cars full of families or maybe couples like you!

It was cozy and private and MAYBE you’d see some of the movie……….

In your date night clothes and teased up hair you felt quite groovy…..

Well that’s what Mom says drive-ins were like but that was so long ago

I’m sure there were people there who ACTUALLY came for the show!!!!

HAHA……sorry Mom…….I had to write this one and it’s dedicated to you and your long-ago memories.    There are some drive-ins around these days but they are few and far between.

So now that I embarrassed Mom (!) and also had some fun writing this poem, it’s time for me to tell you that if you’ve written your OWN poem from the photo, please let us know and give us your link in our comments OR write your poem there to share with us.   C’mon!!!   We want you to give poetry a try……………..it’s FUN I promise.

Now here’s your poem for NEXT Thursdays poetic inspiration – you have a whole week to write a poem about this photo………..will you do it?   I hope so.

So I will hope to see you all again next week when we get together and share our poems based on the above photo – is it a date?    Until then, just remember that those of us up here at the Bridge are watching over you……all day every day……always and forever.

Love, Angel Sammy

Happy Thursday!   Time to share our thankfuls from the past week on this blog hop that our buddy Brian hosts every week.   Wanna join in?  Just click the badge above and DO IT!    This week I have to say I’m thankful that we have had TWO days of sun.   I don’t mind rain – in fact I will walk outside and act like I don’t even notice it’s raining like mad – but I prefer sun and puddles of sun.   Who wouldn’t?   If you’re a cat anyway!    I’m ALSO thankful my brother Angel Sammy did his usual and reliable thing of transmitting via his Bridge Laptop this week’s THOROUGHLY POETIC poem………what would my week be without that too?   Well, it sure wouldn’t be as much fun.

Below is the email I got from him last night.   If you’ve never participated in the sharing of a poem inspired by one of Sammy’s photos he gives us then maybe this is the week you should try!!

♥♥♥

Hello my friends!   It’s already Thursday even though it seems like YESTERDAY we shared our photo-inspired poetry here, doesn’t it?   Time flies – not just for your Earth-bounders but also for those of us at the Bridge.   Anyway, the idea behind this whole thing is that I give you a photo every week and you have a whole week to write a poem based on that photo; how it made you feel looking at it, things you thought about when you looked at it, what you see in your heart and mind when you look at it.   Got the idea?    It’s easy – and so is writing a poem.   Trust me – poetry takes all sort of forms and sometimes doesn’t even rhyme – it’s just full of feelings or thoughts.   GIVE IT A TRY!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week AND following the photo you’ll see the poem I wrote!

“Paradise”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell     June 27, 2018

An oasis in the midst of the endless sand

A welcome spot in a magical land

Echoes of ancient cultures all around

Breezes through the palm trees the only sound

The cats and their caretaker enjoy paradise

The wind off the water feels ever so nice

The royal caretaker serves the cats to the best of her ability

The felines belong to a family of nobility

This restful break from court will soon be at an end

Soon a chariot will arrive – one the King will send

The caretaker and her charges will return to their home

The royal cats walled in so they can no longer roam

Paradise will be waiting for the next time around

When by the oasis, contented purrs are the only sound………..

I know Teddy would enjoy a trip to this place wherever it is and I know I’d like to meet him there…………………Perhaps this is a spot here at the Rainbow Bridge that I’ve not yet seen – it looks quite magical that’s for sure.   I can’t wait to read YOUR poems – did you write one?   Let us know that you did in our comments – give us your blog link so we can read it OR write your poem in our comments HERE.    YOU CAN DO IT!

Here’s your poetic inspiration for NEXT Thursday……see what you can come up with for this photo!    Take the challenge and run with it.   It’s fun.   Honest it is.

This brings back some memories for some of you right?   I hope to see you next week……………….I’ll be looking for you – in the meantime, remember we are friends forever.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!
