Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

It’s Double Bubble Blog Post Day!

Thankful Thursday AND Poetic Thursday too…..

Thankful Thursday is hosted by my friend Brian and it’s our chance to let the world know all the things we’re thankful for.   I look back at my week and remember all the thankfuls and share them here – you can too if you click on their badge and use the LINKY TOOL to join in the thankfulness.

I’m thankful that my Mom got her little skin surgery taken care of yesterday with no problem – my Mom has more than a “passing” relationship unfortunately with The Evil C……skin cancer is so easy to take care of when caught early and Mom’s an early bird.    She will have more surgery next month but for now – all is well.    I am taking good care of her post-surgery believe me.   I didn’t even make her take me outside for walks when she got home yesterday OR this morning – Dad is on “TEDDY DUTY” !!!

As for my other thankful – it’s the usual – what’s the usual?   The usual is that I got an email from Angel Sammy with this week’s poem and NEXT week’s photo inspiration.   He just never, EVER lets us down does he?!    Below is his email to all of us:

♥♥♥

Hello Fellow Poets and Fans of Poetry!

It’s time for our usual Thursday gathering – sharing our poems we wrote this past week of course based on the “photographic inspiration” that I give you on Thursdays for you to think about.    I know more than a few of you wondered WHY I was giving you another monkey photo for this week when not that long ago I gave you the “monkey with the camera” photo.   Well, monkeys are pretty interesting little characters with such expressive faces – and they give me ideas for fun poetry and I sort of thought they might do that for you too.   That’s why this was your inspiration this week:

I think this is a great photo……………these two are totally enjoying that wedge of watermelon.  I love the one guy taking a taste and I’m guessing the other one has just taken a chunk out of the top!   So many animals enjoy watermelon – bears, elephants, just about EVERYONE loves it.    Anyway, here’s my poem based on this photograph AND after my poem I’ll give you a photo for NEXT week.   You have a week to come up with a poem of any type to share with all of us.   YOU CAN DO IT.

“Summertime Treats”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell       August 16, 2018

On a hot summer day when your energy is low

I recommend off to your refrigerator you should go

Hopefully inside you’ll find a treasure

Which will benefit you in ways you cannot measure!

A nice cold watermelon hopefully is there

Just slice it with your knife – be sure to take care!

The pink goodness is juicy and sweet as can be

All feelings of discomfort from the heat will flee!

Each bite is delicious and better than the last

It also reminds us of summer days of the past

Playing in the sprinkler and giggling with glee

Mom brings out the watermelon and sets the FUN free!

All manner of humans and animals alike

Agree that watermelon is BEYOND a delight…………….

(put it on your Mom’s grocery list after reading this poem!)

◊♦◊

That’s my little ode to watermelon and these two little guys who are happily devouring their summertime treat totally inspired me.    Now I’m going to give you what I hope will be an inspiring photograph for all of you for NEXT Thursday.   If you wrote a  poem for this week like I did above, just tell us in comments that you did and give us your link so we can visit and read it ASAP!

Here’s your inspiration:

Oh boy – this one ought to be fun right?    Good luck – remember, if you think you can’t write a poem -you’re WRONG.   Just let your imagination take you away – poems don’t even have to rhyme – they are just our thoughts on paper!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Have some fun with poetry…..see you next Thursday!  LOVE, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy………………I really look forward to hearing from you every week and reading the poem you have written…………..I also love everyone else’s poems.    Make sure and let us know if you wrote one so we can read it!!

Happy Thursday Friends…..Hugs, Teddy

It’s Double Post Day For Me!  THANKFUL and POETIC all in one!

First up today I want to join Brian’s THANKFUL THURSDAY Hop.   You can too in fact if you click his badge and fill out the LINKY FORM – you can become part of this fun Hop where we tell the world what we are thankful for.    For one thing I’m thankful to have heard that the two kitties you were trying to help find a FOREVER for – Pingo and Polo – are in fact fine and have a new home so they will be safe.   Thank heavens for people who step up and help in times like this.   We hope you will give us all the details Brian but we heard things were OK for the boys and that TRULY made me more thankful than I can say.    I’m also thankful that my Mom and Dad are being so patient with me as I try out my newest method of trying to stay outside LONGER than they want me to.   What am I talking about?   Well as you all know I go out only on a harness and leash and only if one or both of my parents are with me snoopervising.   Sometimes they will let me just go under my little garden tree and SIT – without them holding my leash.   I’ll stay there for 15-20 minutes or MORE while they sit close by on the front porch.    If they decide they want to come in before I’m ready to come in I will NOT NOT NOT NOT mind my Mom when she calls me to come out from under my tree.   NO I WILL NOT.   In fact, when she reaches under to get my leash I go LIMP.   TOTALLY LIMP.   A twenty pound totally limp cat weighs at least twice that (hahahahahaha).   I don’t cooperate in the slightest and in fact I WHINE like a little kid when she pulls on my leash and lie there like a limp dishrag.   Sooner or later she (or Dad) has to crawl on the dirt to get to me under the little tree (not easy for two old people!) and even then it’s a real PAIN to try to pick my 20 lbs. of LIMP up and carry me up to the front door.   YES I’M BEING STUBBORN.    It’s what I am.   (insert evil giggle here).

I’m thankful Angel Sammy didn’t let me or you down because I did hear from him overnight with his poem and message for today so TAKE IT AWAY ANGEL SAMMY!

Hello Friends!  It’s time for poetry!

I look forward to Thursdays because I really do love playing this game we play with me giving you a photo and a week to study the photo and figure out what kind of poem you will write to share today with everyone.   I have to be honest – I usually write my poem at the last minute – just before I transmit it from my laptop via wifi at the Bridge down to Teddy.    I do better with “top of my head” poem writing.   I think I got that from my Mom.   When she was writing her mystery novel some years ago that’s how she wrote it – top of the head with no prior plan – just WHATEVER FELT RIGHT.   I hope you are joining in the fun and you have a way that works for you when writing a poem!    Just remember to share with us – in our comments with your link OR your poem itself.

Here’s the photo I gave you last week to write about and share today:

I just love this artwork.   My Mom says she and her brother would hop in a rain puddle no matter whether they had raincoats and boots on or not.   It was just what kids did.   The puddle calls to you and you OBEY!    This little boy (or girl) in the photo is having a blast.   Puddles are made for that.   Here’s my poem based on this photo:

“Puddle Dancing”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell      August 8, 2018

Off the school bus and heading home

Short way to the house no time to roam

Raining heavy, umbrella like a bubble

Puddles everywhere – I’m gonna get in trouble!

The “call” of a puddle is something all kids hear

“Jump in me!”, “Splash in me!”, their words are quite clear!

The bigger the splash, the bigger the mess

I know when I get home, I’ll have to confess

Puddles and mud spell trouble AND fun

After I’ve made a huge mess, home I will run

But until I’m satisfied that I’ve made the BIGGEST splash

I’ll stay here and play then run home like a flash!

When Mom opens the door with her hands on her hips

I’ll give her sorry eyes and a kiss for cheek or lips

Then she’ll tell me the story about when she was small

Each puddle she’d pass would be tempting and CALL

“Come here little girl – “Jump in me – I insist!!!”

Because puddles back then AND now are impossible to resist!!!

I used to absolutely love playing in puddles after a rainstorm when I lived at home before coming to the Bridge.   First thing after a rain storm out I’d go and I’d make sure and visit every puddle – sometimes have a slurp of water – and if worms were in the puddle OH BOY did I have extra fun!    Teddy is different – he goes AROUND puddles.   He loves mud but not crazy about puddles.   HAHAHA    I think Mom would prefer him getting WET to getting MUDDY!

Now did you write a poem?  I hope you did but if you didn’t – I have a NEW photo to inspire you for next week so PLEASE think about joining in the fun and write a poem – YOU CAN DO IT!

FUN?   I think so……………………..everybody loves watermelon on a hot day right?     OK – that’s your photo for next week………..think about it then write your poem and share it next Thursday!    Until then remember Angels are watching out for you……………..it’s what we do now we are at the Rainbow Bridge!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thank you Angel Sammy……..your poem was fun and you’re right about puddles – you loved them and I’m more of a mud/dirt kind of guy.    One thing we have in common among many things though is that we both love that our Mom and Dad kept a watchful eye over us when we were outside.   It can be dangerous outside……..but I do love it like you did!

Hugs, Teddy

It’s Double Blog Day – THANKFUL Thursday and

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

First up – Thankful!

Thursday is our chance to share what we’re thankful for courtesy of our host Brian – we hop on board and tell each other our “thankfuls” !   If you’d like to join us, PLEASE do – all you have to do is click Brian’s badge and join in the fun.

I am thankful ALWAYS for the usual things like a happy family and a wonderful home, but I usually have a little something else to be thankful for and today I have a “silly” sort of thankful because today, I, Teddy Kimmell (Butter Bean), caught my VERY FIRST skink!    What’s a skink?

One of these guys and we have them around our house and in our garden (never IN our house though!).    They will sneak in the garage when the door is up and one of my favorite territories to prowl about in is my garage.   In fact, it’s my favorite nap spot too since my hammock is in one of the garage windows!   ANYWAY, Mom and Dad thought I was being awfully strange earlier today when they were calling me to come in from the garage so they could take me out for a walkabout in the yard on my harness.   I wouldn’t BUDGE from under Mom’s car.    Dad got down on the floor of the garage and saw me under there with a dead skink and I was NOT going to give up my treasure!   No no no………and Mom didn’t want to take a photo of the poor little skink so you’ll just have to take my word for it – I’m two years old and this was a FIRST success at hunting.    I am a mighty hunter……………..

Now, I must say that I am also thankful that my Angel brother Sammy got his email sent last night so I received his poem for today.    I always worry that wi-fi might not be working up at the Rainbow Bridge an he won’t get his poem to me in time but he’s never let me down!    Here’s what I received from him:

♥♥♥

Greetings from the Bridge!  It’s time for poetry!

Happy Thursday everyone.   I hope you are joining us today to share a poem you wrote based on the photo that I gave you last week to use as inspiration………but even if you didn’t write one – you can enjoy visiting everyone who has written one – they will be leaving comments in our blog comment area that they have with a link to their poem.  Check them out – we have some GREAT poets here in the blogosphere!    If you’ve not joined in please do – just use the photo I provide to give you some ideas of what to write your poem about……photos can bring all kinds of inspiration.   Every week we gather on Thursday and I share the poem I’ve written and also give you a new photograph to use as your poetic inspiration for NEXT Thursday.    Fun?  You betcha.

Here’s the photo I gave you last Thursday to use for this week………….and then my poem follows.

“Riding in Style”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell      August 2, 2018

Years ago when railroading was king

Luxurious trains traveled on rails that would sing

The muffled sounds heralded a luxurious ride

The passengers on board were full of pride

Timetables were met and compartments were clean

Luxury ’round every corner fit for the Queen.

Meals prepared by chefs, valets at beck and call

Train life was perfect for one and all.

Books have been written about the romance of the rails

Mystery and intrigue were among all the tales

“Murder on the Orient Express” is a memorable mystery

A favorite mystery read that’s been popular through history.

I just daydream about a ride on a beautiful train such as that…..

And wonder if perhaps they would welcome on board a CAT ???

I think riding on one of those luxury trains would be FUN – my Mom and Dad thought about doing that back many years ago when they planned their honeymoon.   They settled for getting Eurrail passes and doing their travel through Europe on their honeymoon on “regular” trains as it was a little expensive on the Orient Express.   I wonder if they allow pets????   Probably – I mean who’s going to tell some rich person they can’t bring their beloved pup or kitty on board?????

Anyway, let’s get down to the material to inspire you for NEXT week……………I picked out a photo that might give you some fun when you write your poem to share next Thursday!

Fun huh?

Please join in our fun – give it a try – write a poem based on what you see in the above photo or what you feel when you look at it.    Trust me – you’ll have some fun with it.    Until then, I will remind you again that those of us at the Rainbow Bridge are looking out for you every minute of the day………we have some recent arrivals here – if you have had to say farewell to your beloved pet, know they are happy and healthy now and with you ALWAYS.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy…………..I liked your poem this week.  I sure would like to ride on a beautiful train and have some adventure………..until then, I guess I’ll just have to hope that Mom doesn’t make me give up my prize skink.    Actually, maybe I should let her have it.    It’s now at the Rainbow Bridge thanks to ME.

See you all next week with another poem from Angel Sammy AND to read YOUR poems too!

Until then…….I’ll snooze!

Hugs, Teddy

An urgent P.S.

We were just at Brian’s Home Blog linking up our Thankful and Poetic post for today when we read the story of these two kitties named Pingo and Polo in South Carolina who are in desperate need of a home.    This is a story we’ve all heard before but it’s so compelling we just had to share with you……….if anyone can help of course Brian would want to know ASAP.     CLICK HERE

Happy Thursday everyone!    Time to get thankful “out loud” again with this Blog Hop hosted by our friend Brian’s – we join together to give thanks for our blessings and share and you can do the same if you just click his badge above and join us.

I am not just thankful but overjoyed that we FINALLY got some rain yesterday because we really, truly needed it badly.   The sad thing is we got three inches of it in about an hour which is a whole lot of rain much of which just ran down the yards in waterfalls instead of having a chance to soak in and do some good.  BUT we won’t complain really because it DID help our drought.   There was some serious flooding here and there but you almost can’t tell it happened today as everything is cleaned up and drying out.   I am thankful though – Mom has been having to water porch and deck and shrubs for WEEKS now but yesterday’s rain was most helpful.

Also I’m thankful that in spite of the violent thunderstorm with big lightning it did NOT interfere with Angel Sammy’s wifi connection he uses at the RAINBOW BRIDGE,  allowing him to transmit to ME, his poem for this week.   I look forward to hearing from him every week and I hope you do too.    You know he keeps hoping more of you will give writing a poem to share a try – maybe you will feel like taking a whack at it this next week?   We’ll see if the photo he gives us for inspiration is one you can feel comfy writing a poem about????

Here’s his email from overnight………………..

♥♥♥

GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS FROM THE RAINBOW BRIDGE!

So glad the storm my little brother had around his house yesterday didn’t keep my email from arriving and grateful he didn’t lose power in his house.   It’s been so hot it would have been uncomfortable with all the heat and humidity if he hadn’t had his A/C.    I’m also grateful that up here at the Bridge we are comfortable ALL THE TIME!

Did you write a poem this week?   I try to find interesting photos for you to use as inspiration and I myself write one based on the photos I find.    It’s fun.   This is the photo I chose for all of us last week to use as inspiration for today.    How does the photo make you feel?  What do you SEE in the photo?   What can you write about that this photo inspires in you?

Here’s my poem based on the above photo………….

“River Queen”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell       July 18, 2018

Riverboat gamblers in a smoky room

Upright piano player playing a tune

Cigar smoke in layers in a room full of noise

Bartender asking “what will it be for you boys?”

Chorus girls dancing up on the stage

Winners are happy – while losers rage

All of that action in the riverboat saloon

Miss Flossie sitting on a stool singing a tune

Head out on deck for air in the still of the night

Takes your breath away watching the stars – oh what a sight

All the action inside with the yells and the songs

While the River Queen riverboat quietly glides along…………

That was a fun one……….I hope you had fun writing your poem this week.    If you did write one – just make sure and tell us you did in comments here with your link so we can go read it!   You can also write your poem IN our comments to share it.   If you didn’t write one – take a gander at the photo I’ve got for you for NEXT Thursday and see if you might be inspired to write one for NEXT Thursday when we get together again:

Oh I already have an idea what my poem will be titled – it hit me like a ton of bricks when I saw this photo!!   Inspiration is like that sometimes – it’s RIGHT THERE and you don’t even have to think about it.   Not always but sometimes.

I’ll look forward to seeing you all next week…….C’mon – join me in writing a poem.   You will enjoy it I promise!   Meanwhile, remember, all of us at the Rainbow Bridge whether we’ve been here an hour, a day or years love you and watch out for you 24/7.    We are always WITH YOU.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Teddy

Thanks Angel Sammy.     I loved this poem.    Of course I love all your poems but this one I think you might have had a bit of inspiration from Cat Scouts – am I right?   I know before I came along Cat Scouts took a trip to the Bayou in New Orleans and did a riverboat ride and stayed in a swamp one night where it was scary – mind if I show some of your old photos?   I still have your photo albums you know!    Everyone might enjoy seeing a couple.    Cat Scouts is TONS of fun and easy to join – if you’re a cat, you should visit and join up!

Happy Thursday!   Time to share our thankfuls from the past week on this blog hop that our buddy Brian hosts every week.   Wanna join in?  Just click the badge above and DO IT!    This week I have to say I’m thankful that we have had TWO days of sun.   I don’t mind rain – in fact I will walk outside and act like I don’t even notice it’s raining like mad – but I prefer sun and puddles of sun.   Who wouldn’t?   If you’re a cat anyway!    I’m ALSO thankful my brother Angel Sammy did his usual and reliable thing of transmitting via his Bridge Laptop this week’s THOROUGHLY POETIC poem………what would my week be without that too?   Well, it sure wouldn’t be as much fun.

Below is the email I got from him last night.   If you’ve never participated in the sharing of a poem inspired by one of Sammy’s photos he gives us then maybe this is the week you should try!!

♥♥♥

Hello my friends!   It’s already Thursday even though it seems like YESTERDAY we shared our photo-inspired poetry here, doesn’t it?   Time flies – not just for your Earth-bounders but also for those of us at the Bridge.   Anyway, the idea behind this whole thing is that I give you a photo every week and you have a whole week to write a poem based on that photo; how it made you feel looking at it, things you thought about when you looked at it, what you see in your heart and mind when you look at it.   Got the idea?    It’s easy – and so is writing a poem.   Trust me – poetry takes all sort of forms and sometimes doesn’t even rhyme – it’s just full of feelings or thoughts.   GIVE IT A TRY!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week AND following the photo you’ll see the poem I wrote!

“Paradise”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell     June 27, 2018

An oasis in the midst of the endless sand

A welcome spot in a magical land

Echoes of ancient cultures all around

Breezes through the palm trees the only sound

The cats and their caretaker enjoy paradise

The wind off the water feels ever so nice

The royal caretaker serves the cats to the best of her ability

The felines belong to a family of nobility

This restful break from court will soon be at an end

Soon a chariot will arrive – one the King will send

The caretaker and her charges will return to their home

The royal cats walled in so they can no longer roam

Paradise will be waiting for the next time around

When by the oasis, contented purrs are the only sound………..

I know Teddy would enjoy a trip to this place wherever it is and I know I’d like to meet him there…………………Perhaps this is a spot here at the Rainbow Bridge that I’ve not yet seen – it looks quite magical that’s for sure.   I can’t wait to read YOUR poems – did you write one?   Let us know that you did in our comments – give us your blog link so we can read it OR write your poem in our comments HERE.    YOU CAN DO IT!

Here’s your poetic inspiration for NEXT Thursday……see what you can come up with for this photo!    Take the challenge and run with it.   It’s fun.   Honest it is.

This brings back some memories for some of you right?   I hope to see you next week……………….I’ll be looking for you – in the meantime, remember we are friends forever.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Thanks Angel Sammy……………………..I love your poem for this week but next week I think Mom is going to insist SHE have some input on your poem.   She remembers places like that !!!

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Today We’re THANKFUL with Brian and Poetic with Sammy!

Thursday is our “two posts for one” day – we’re starting off with being Thankful on Thursday with our friend Brian (click badge above) and joining his Thankful Blog Hop.   We all share what we’re thankful for and it’s fun to see what everyone has been thankful for the previous week.   If you click the badge you will go there and you can join up with the rest of us!

I have a kind of silly thankful this week – today is day TWO of some incredible weather here in Virginia.   It’s February and we have two days in a row of almost 80 degrees.   That is TRULY weird.   Oh a “normal” February day, it’s anywhere from 30 -45 degrees and maybe some snow thrown in the mix.   We even DID have snow this past Saturday!    Anyway, it’s been glorious and I’ve been able to get Mom and Dad to take me out on the front porch for some SUN and some fresh air and lots of walks around the yard.   I’ve dug some holes, eaten some grass and rolled around in the dirt!   LIFE IS GOOD.   Tonight cold comes back so I’ve been very THANKFUL for a break!

Onward to part two of our blog today which is when we get to see the poem Angel Sammy sent us for his Poetic Thursday challenge……………

♥♥♥

It’s Poetic Thursday my friends…

Nice to be with you all today – Thursday is MY day with what used to be MY blog but my little brother Teddy is now hosting.    He does a great job but gives me some space to do MY thing on Thursdays.    Every week I give you a PHOTO and your challenge is to write a poem about that photo – what does it make you think about, what do you feel when you look at it, what comes to mind, etc.    It’s a lot of fun……..AND everyone can write a poem if you just try.     Honest!     After I share my poem from this past week’s photo, I’ll give you a NEW photo for NEXT Thursday to write a poem about……….

Here was last week’s Photo inspiration:

Alone

By Angel Sammy Kimmell   Feb. 22, 2018

There are times when we really want to be alone

No knocks on the door, no ringing telephone

Just relaxing in the quiet of a “newborn” day

No questions asked – so no answers to say

But being alone isn’t always the best

We might have a problem to get off our chest!

We might need some help with a problem or two

Or perhaps there are times when only a hug will do…

Still, it’s important to feel “whole” when we’re just one

For each of us has a journey of our own to be done

The road we each travel is ours to complete

Although having a partner makes the trip much more sweet.

Sometimes it’s good to be alone………..but sometimes we really don’t want to be alone and need a friend or partner to be there for us and with us.    We are though individuals over and above what we are with others so we HAVE to be comfortable within ourselves.   My Mom says she learned this when she was single after being married the first time!!   She didn’t know how to be ONE – she only knew how to be HALF of two!     I was always alone being an “only kitty” but to tell you the truth, I was always MUCH happier when my Mom and Dad were there with me………….  That was the inspiration for my poem today.    And “ALONE” was the first thing that popped into my head when I wrote my poem for today.

Did you write a poem?   If you did, how about giving us the link to your poem in my comments?   We can ALL read it!   If you didn’t write one – join us next week……I promise you’ll have fun.    Now for next week’s photo inspiration!!

This one ought to be fun right?   I’ll see you next week – can’t wait to see what you do with this photo…………..it’s thought-provoking for sure!

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks my brother!    That was a doozy of a poem…………….and I’ll be looking forward to next Thursday when we get together again to be THANKFUL and to read POETRY together!!!

Hugs, Teddy

P.S.

We learned this morning that Sarge – Blogville’s favorite pawlice chief and friend to all, has left for the Rainbow Bridge.   We hadn’t heard from him in a long time and then when we did – it was this sad news……..we will always remember this special guy.   You can leave a message for his family HERE

First Up:  Thankful Thursday with Brian

Is it Thursday already?   Where does time go?   I’m just a little guy – not even two years old yet – but time really does fly by just like my Mom and Dad are always saying.    Once a week we gather together on Brian’s Blog Hop though no matter HOW quickly Thursdays come, in order to share what we are THANKFUL for.    You can join in if you like – just click his badge above and enter by using the LINKY tool.   Share an share alike right?

What am I thankful for this week?   You might think this is a weird thankful but I truly am thankful that we had some SPRING in the middle of Winter.    We had several days in the 60s and one that made it to 70!    What’s with that??   It was really great because I whined at the front door three or four times and got a passing human to put my harness on me and take me outside for a little bit of DIRT TIME.    Instead of frozen ground I found some nice loose dirt in Mom’s front garden and before she could get me OUT of there I managed to hop/dig/roll around to my heart’s content!    Just like a little piggy (Bacon my friend sorry about that!).    Mom brushed me off and of course when I got inside I got my feets (all four of them) washed with a cloth which I didn’t like but it was SOOOO worth it.   It was Spring for a little while…………..we are now back to the 30s and 40s so I’ll have to wait a few months for more DIRT.

I’m also thankful Angel Sammy didn’t let me down this week and transmitted his Poetic Thursday poem to me last night from the Rainbow Bridge.    He says he will never let me down and I believe it!   Here’s what he sent:

♥♥♥♥

Hello Poetry Fans!   It’s Thursday and time to share some poetry………

Each Thursday we share our poem that we’ve written based on a photo that I give you the previous week………….you have a whole week to think about the photo and figure out what it’s saying to you and what words it inspires you to write for your poem!    Maybe a feeling you get, or a memory you have, or just an impression formed by staring at the photo for a little while.    Those of you who are participating in this every week are doing a GREAT job so far and I hope that maybe YOU (yes YOU!) will join in this week by sharing a poem about this photo from last week:

You know, poetry doesn’t even have to rhyme – it can be freeform and different – just a collection of thoughts – I know that when you look at a photo you have certain feelings that come forward so why not put them down on paper??   Then share them with us!     Here’s my poem for this photo:

“Purely Happy”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell, January 24, 2018

A bond with a pet is so warm and so true

The trust we share as best friends – ME and YOU

We don’t ask you why or when or how

We just live in the moment and the moment is now….

We give you our hearts and you give us your love

It’s a match made in heaven AND the “Bridge” up above.

We all need a friend who is our safe place to fall

To run to with happiness when our name they do call

When our eyes meet we know that the love is right there

We know with no doubt that we will ALWAYS care

One day we will know that it’s time for goodbye

With reluctance we accept with a tear in our eye

We will meet up again like we were never apart

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Here we are!  It’s already Thursday and time for us to share what we are thankful for.    If you’d like to join this hop hosted by our friend Brian and his family, just click their badge above and join in the Hop with us…………………..

I had something ready to talk about for today but as of two hours ago I changed it because in that time we had a VERY SCARY incident just a few houses down from us………..there was a HUGE explosion and we thought it had happened either in our house or a next door neighbor…………….after we determined we were fine, and the neighbors were fine, we saw out the back deck a HUGE (and I mean HUGE) fire raging in a house on the other side of the lake in our community.    The smoke was billowing and black…….it looked like the entire back of the house was on fire.    Soon there were firetrucks and ambulances………..they seemed to have a hard time getting the fire under control.   A neighbor stopped by to tell us that they did not know if anyone had been home at the time but a car was in the driveway – the family there had four dogs and it’s not known if they were home either.    At this time we still don’t know the details as it’s all just too new to know.   But one thing is for SURE – we are thankful it was NOT in our home and we are praying that nobody was home where the fire took place.    VERY scary and at this time of year in particular, what a disaster for some family.    Things can change in an INSTANT – we must be thankful for every minute we have………..every minute!!

I’m also thankful that Angel Sammy came through with his next Poetic PHOTO Challenge for this week – that means Rainbow Bridge communications with wi-fi are as dependable as they’ve been for over a year now since Angel Sammy left us……………..here’s this week’s photo poem……….

♥♥♥♥

Hello my friends and welcome to the SECOND week of our PHOTO POETRY CHALLENGE!    This is our new way of having fun with poetry – once a week I give you a photo write a poem about!  We hope more of you will join in this fun………it’s not so hard to write a poem – hey – it doesn’t even have to RHYME to be a poem – it can be short or long, funny or serious – whatever the photo I give you inspires you to say!     You can put your link to your own poem in the blog comments OR even write your poem there in the comments!

Here’s the photo for this week followed by my poem about the photo:

“Lonely”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, Dec. 20, 2017

Abandoned and forgotten

Rusty and quite rotten

What is this car’s story?

Full of sadness or glory?

Did a family get stranded?

Where this sad old car landed?

Did they run out of gas?

Did a spaceship go past?

I hope whoever was driving

Was not in a hurry to be arriving!

It’s a very lonely photograph

But I know what should be its’ epitaph:

“I DID MY BEST BUT FAILED THE TEST” !

You can’t help but wonder WHAT the story is behind this photo can you………………..I just hope everyone who WAS in the car is alright – or if someone towed the car out there just to get rid of it – I hope someone finds it one day and at least takes it out of this magnificent landscape because it just doesn’t belong there.    So what did you write about for this photo?    I can’t wait to read what you did………………!

For next Thursday, here’s your POETIC PHOTO CHALLENGE…………………….as the new year approaches…………

We will share what this photo of a New Year’s Celebration makes us think about and how does it make us feel?   Excited?   Hopeful?  Happy?  Or something else entirely?     I will be thinking about what to write to – then next Thursday we’ll meet here and SHARE.

Meanwhile, I want to wish everyone a MERRY CHRISTMAS and Happy Holiday…………………..because we all need a little MAGIC right about now – right?

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy – I love your poem and I think the one for next week ought to be fun.    I hope everyone is loving the poetry challenges as much as I do READING them!    See you all next week!

Lots of Holiday Teddy Hugs!!!!

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Yes – we are Thankful!

First of all thanks to Brian for being our host every single week…………everyone seems to have a lot to share so it’s a great Blog Hop and gives us a chance to say how thankful we are OUT LOUD.   My Mom and Dad were talking about how thankful they are to have ME here this Christmas since last Christmas they were so very sad because Angel Sammy had just gone to the Bridge on December 2 last year.   This year they have ME and I am keeping them ship shape around here.    I play a whole lot with my Mom – she’s the best toy I have (hahaha).

I’m also thankful that we are starting a new and FUN Photo Challenge every week on Thursday with Angel Sammy.    Last week he gave everyone a photo to write a poem about and today we’ll see what you all were able to do with the photo which was rather unusual!    Many of you knew what kind of clouds are in the photo – they are MAMMATUS clouds!    Angel Sammy just thought they might spur everyone’s imagination and perhaps even some of you who haven’t written a poem before MIGHT write one about this unusual sky.

I received Angel Sammy’s poem bright and early this morning so apparently the wi-fi connection at the Bridge is still in fine shape even though this is a busy time of the year not just for US but for Angels too!   Here’s what he sent to us……………..

♥♥♥♥

Greetings from the Bridge my friends!

I am hoping that all of you who have been such loyal poets throughout our several trips through the alphabet on Thursdays will stick with me on this NEWEST challenge – it may be harder or maybe you will find it easier – but it WILL be fun.    Someone asked me if you could use ANY photo if you couldn’t come up with a poem about the one I give you each week.    I’m hoping that you will use MY photo……………..if we find that people just are at a loss as to what to write, we’ll change the rules but let’s all give this a try first shall we???    The deal is to study the photo I give you and come up with a poem about what feelings you get from looking at the photo, or what it LOOKS like, or makes you think about, etc.    I’ll try and give you interesting photos I promise.   Remember that poems can be short or long, can rhyme or not rhyme – the fun part is just letting your imagination FREE……………

“Santa’s Beard”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, Dec. 14, 2017

What I see is Santa’s beard

Maybe you think that’s just plain weird

His beard is just like that – or so I’ve been told

It’s white, soft,  and long because Santa is old!

His beard is fluffy and soft and oh so clear

I bet he visits at night to watch us – to listen and hear……

How else could he know if we’re naughty or nice?

He needs to know for sure so he checks his list twice!

I’m sure that this photo was not meant to be viewed

If his elves who do the list knew, there’ be quite a feud!

If one night you are simply unable to sleep

Out into your yard in your robe you should creep

If it’s just before Christmas and you look up in the sky

You might see his beard as he leans down to spy!

Run back to your bed, and close your eyes real tight

So he will for sure know you’re GOOD and he’ll come Christmas night!

HAHA – that was fun.    Now it’s YOUR turn……………..if you wrote a poem about the photo, please tell us you did in our comments – you can give us your blog link to your poem OR even write your poem in the comments.   We hope you had fun with this because I sure did.

Are you ready for NEXT Thursday’s inspirational photo????    This is the photo we will write a poem about NEXT Thursday………..I hope you will join me again……….poetry is FUN!

Now that ought to spur your imagination!!!    I will look forward to seeing you all NEXT week – the Thursday before Christmas……………….and speaking of Christmas, here’s a Christmas card from me at the Bridge to all of you!

Love to all of you, Angel Sammy

‘Tis I ! Angel Sammy, zeeee French poet!!!

So we will both see you next week – give poetry a try – I know it would make Angel Sammy very proud of you if you do!
