Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Thursday is HOP day with Brian………….he calls it his THANKFUL THURSDAY blog hop and we tack onto our “thankful” post a bit more…………my brother Angel Sammy also hosts his “Poetic Thursday” fun.    So you can see why we LOVE THURSDAY.     If you would like to share what you’re thankful for this week in Brian’s Blog Hop – click his badge above and link up!

I’m thankful that in spite of the unbelievable heat and humidity, Mom and Dad have indulged my passion for being outside.    One or both of them have taken me out every single day and kept a close eye on me to keep me safe.    I do love that.    Often I will fall asleep under a shrub while outside and Mom and Dad just watch me nap and sit and talk or read books while keeping half an eyeball on me.    I’m lucky.

Also lucky that Angel Sammy’s Poetry post got here in time for me to share it with you!

Hello Friends!

Here we are again – seems like just yesterday we were gathering to share poetry but it’s been a whole week.   My goodness but time does fly – just like Angels at the Rainbow!

So you know the drill by now – every week I give you a photo to serve as inspiration for you to write a poem to share the following Thursday.   Many of you participate and ALL of you are wonderful poets!    Long poem, short poem, rhyming or not – doesn’t matter what form it’s in – just participate because it’s TONS OF FUN.

Here’s the photo I gave you last week to use for this week’s poem – if you wrote one tell us in comments so we can read it…………my poem follows the photo:

“Go Go On The Pogo”

Poem by Angel Sammy  Kimmell      ©July 14, 2021

Pogo sticks were tons of fun

I wouldn’t know but my Mom had one!

Plenty of skinned knees and an elbow or two

Before she mastered the art of HOP as her bruises turned blue!

Boing, boing, boing up and down the sidewalk she’d go

Her Mom peeking out the window to watch the show

Santa Claus brought all her friends one year a pogo stick

You had to learn how to handle it mighty darn quick

The neighborhood looked like it was full of kid-kangaroos

Big smiles on their faces in spite of bandaids and a bruise!

My Mom doesn’t remember whatever happened to her pogo stick but chances are during the next move (they moved every 2 years as her Dad was in the Air Force) they probably put it in the yard sale.    She said she soon outgrew the pogo stick anyway and took up piano lessons.    HAHA

Now how about a photo for you to use for NEXT Thursday’s poetry fun???    How’s this for inspiration:

Well Mom tells me it’s felt like this around the yard lately as it’s been super duper hot.    The only way I could do this is if that wasn’t SAND but ICE CREAM I was walking through – AND Mom says she agrees with me!!   Although the fact of the matter is at the Rainbow Bridge it’s ALWAYS totally comfortable 24/7.

Have fun writing a poem for this one…………I’m sure I will.    I’ll see you next week for Poetry Day………………………

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Oh Angel Sammy I don’t think I could do that desert walk thing.   I like heat and have no problem being outside in it (unlike our Mom and Dad!) but I think the sand would burn my little pink paw pads!    I prefer air conditioning – yes I know I’m spoiled………..but after all, that’s why we have the name we do for our BLOG right?

“Ahhhh……air-conditioning!!”

Hugs, Teddy

Thursday is here and that means time to be THANKFUL in Brian’s Hop.    Also means we’ll get a poem from Angel Sammy today AND share our poems we’ve written based on the photo he gave us LAST Thursday.   So it’s a “double duty” Thursday!   If you’d like to join Brians’ HOP – click his badge above and LINK UP.

I wish I could be THANKFUL that my good friend Sawyer from The Cat On My Head who went on “walkabout” a couple of weeks ago had returned home but alas – he hasn’t.   Although his Mom and Dad continue daily searches and have posters and lookouts all around the area and as far away as a couple of miles where some THOUGHT they’d spotted him, no luck so far.    We just need to keep hoping.

What we CAN be THANKFUL for though is that so far, we remain healthy here – and everyone we know has been fully vaccinated.   Mom and Dad are beginning to do more things and see more people and feel more normal.    That’s something to be thankful for as it’s been a long long time coming.   Now we really wish that everyone who hasn’t been vaccinated thinks AGAIN about that decision – if not for them, for everyone else.    The more of us who are protected, the better we can protect those around us.

Now let’s get to Angel Sammy’s poetry shall we?

Happy Poetry Sharing Day!

Hope you all have had a good week………….and found a little bit of time to write a poem inspired by the photo I gave you LAST Thursday???    If you’d like to play along it’s easy – every Thursday I will give you a photo of something to inspire you – and we ALL write a poem based on what WE see/feel after looking at the photo.  Got it?   Easy right?

Here’s last week’s photo which I gave to all of you – AND my poem for this photo follows it:

“Magical Venice”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©July 7, 2021

A city of canals, love, and beautiful lights

My parents had three days enjoying Venice delights

Of course I wasn’t around then so I wouldn’t know

But if I had half a chance I’d happily go!

Riding the canals in a gondola – what fun!

Scampering over bridges and narrow alleys I’d run

I bet there are mice behind those ancient stone walls

I’d just have to be sure in a canal I’d NOT fall!

I’ve heard my Mom tell people that she felt “at home” in Venice…….that she remembers smiling the whole time she was there…….around every corner a treasure to see.    I can’t wait to see what you wrote for your poem with this pretty photo as your inspiration!

As for next week’s photo – how about this one?

I’m wondering if everyone knows what these kids are doing?    If not, my Mom says it will REALLY make her feel old if people don’t know!    HAHA    Don’t worry Mom, you will always be younger than springtime.

Hope to see you next week for poetry day AND hope you will share in our comments your link so we can read your poem for today…………….poetry is fun!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Thanks Angel Sammy – I also wasn’t around of course when Mom and Dad went to Venice – and from what I understand that was their SECOND stop on their honeymoon.  They started in Rome, then Venice, then Lucerne, then Paris then London.    Good thing neither one of us was around and having to WAIT for them to get home!   See you next week.

Happy Thursday.    I wish I could say today that I’m THANKFUL that my good friend Sawyer from The Cat On My Head has returned home after running away a few days ago but I can’t.   He’s still missing.   It’s very sad and scary for his Mom and Dad and all of us who love him because he has a seizure disorder and needs medication.    His family are doing EVERYTHING to try and find him and get the word out.   Please take a second to say a quick prayer for him to return.     I thank you for that!

I am thankful that we have some rain in our forecast after several days of incredibly ICKY heat.   It’s even too hot for ME and you know how much I love being outside!!!    Mom and Dad come out with me when I want to go and it’s been pretty miserable for them – – – they can’t crawl under a shrub for a shade nap like I can.    HAHAHA

I got Angel Sammy’s poem for this week though – I’m thankful for that – and I’m happy to share it with all of you poets out there!

Hello Poetic Friends !

Here we are again on a Thursday sharing the poems we wrote this past week based on the photo I gave you last Thursday for inspiration – FUN FUN FUN!     I know all of us have been quite distracted (yes even the Angels at the Bridge) with worrying about Sawyer and hoping he’d come back to his family in Roanoke, VA but you know as much as we would like to “make it happen” even Angels can’t do that.    We WOULD if we COULD.

Anyway, I wrote a poem which I’m going to share with you……………and then give you another photo to use as inspiration for NEXT week’s poetry day!

“What’ll It Be?”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©June 30, 2021

There’s NO doubt about it

We’re not afraid to shout it

Whatever is your favorite drink

It’s here on our shelves – don’t you think?

I can tell you this for sure

It takes HOURS to give a tour !

I bet it does – I’ve never EVER seen anything like this and Mom and Dad who visited many a pub in their travels through Europe don’t remember a pub like this one!   We tried to find the name of this one but only discovered that the image we had taken from the internet is a copy of an available print from “Johnny Griffin”.     There are a number of pubs claiming to be “THE OLDEST PUB” though and whether or not this is the oldest it’s certainly got quite an array of “overstuffed shelves” !     If you wrote a poem for this image, please tell us in comments so we can read it!

Now how about a photo for next week?    One of my Mom and Dad’s favorite places in the entire world.    I think there’s some good poetry that could be written for this photo!

Yep – this one is perfect……….My Mom and Dad think they may have eaten dinner on that left bank in the photo in fact……………..during that dinner Mom asked my Dad if they could have a night time gondola ride – after all – it was their honeymoon.   This isn’t THEIR photo but they did take a night gondola ride and YES their gondolier sang beautiful songs to them.    Memorable – oh yeah.    Have fun with this one!

That’s it for me this week…………………..please continue to pray that missing kitty “Sawyer” from The Cat On My Head returns home………..he’s missed, loved and very much worried about.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love and Light, Angel Sammy

As always Angel Sammy – a very cool poem for last week’s photo.     I am so happy that you still visit us with your poetry – please never stop!

Hi All!  Thursday is here – time for THANKFULS with Brian as well as POEMS with Angel Sammy.    First though is THANKFULS and if you have some you’d like to share in Brian’s Blog Hop just click his badge above and link up with us.

I’m super thankful that today my Mom is driving up to W. Virginia to visit her sister who she hasn’t seen in person since pre-pandemic.   It will be her sister’s birthday on the 26th so they’ll celebrate that along with just plain being together again.    I’m ALSO thankful that Mom will come home after her visit – I miss her when she’s not here!    Dad will take good care of me of course and I’m THANKFUL I have him to fill in for Mom when she’s gone.

I’m also thankful for the incredible weather we were “gifted” with after days and days of icky weather – hot, sticky, humid, overcast, rainy – yuck.   Yesterday was incredible and today is too!

We also are sending our love and hugs and hopes for a good report for our wonderful friend and fellow blogger Miss Jackie from TWODEVONCATS.    Jackie is in the hospital having had some heart issues and we pray she’ll be home SOON!    You can visit her blog to leave a message for her and we thank Miss Ann of Zoolatry for making this terrific badge.

Next we’ll see what Angel Sammy sent for his Poetic Thursday post!

♥♥♥

Hello from the Bridge!

Happy Poetic Thursday everybody…………..how about we start off with a BANG and show you what the photo was that I gave you last week to use as inspiration for today’s Poetic Thursday sharing!!!!    Below the photo is my poem and I hope you like it.

“Where Do I Start?”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©June 23, 2021

“Hungry as a horse” – we’ve all heard that one before

So how about this sandwich – could you ask for more?

The only problem I see is that this creation is gigantic

You’d need a drink to wash it down about the size of the Atlantic

But gosh it sure looks good – from the bottom to the top

To finish it off I’m thinking a week of eating totally non-stop

Bacon, burgers, cheese, ham and I also see some chicken

A giant case of heartburn – I’m sure that I’d be stricken!

In the end though I think I’d say it was a masterful creation –

Suppose this is available from a fast food place somewhere in this nation?????

Gosh that sandwich is amazing.    Mom wants the top layer – appears to be a bacon cheese burger…………..I’ll take the mid-section because I see HAM!     Anyway, this is quite a sandwich and I hope you had as much fun as I did creating a poem around it.

Now for next week’s photo……………..here it is – we’ll meet next Thursday and see what we all wrote for this one, which by the way is a fabulous photo of an OLD Irish Pub:

Should be fun………..!

See you next Thursday everybody and in the meantime – Love one another and stay safe………………….

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love Forever, Angel Sammy

Thanks for another awesome poetic experience Angel Sammy.    Mom really loves the photo you gave everybody for next week – she and Dad saw several places just like this when they visited Ireland.    Brings back memories she says.

Happy Thursday and let’s get thankful with Brian!    If you’d like to join in the Hop just click his badge and link up with us.     Our chance to VOICE all the things we’re thankful for this past week or whenever.

I’m thankful we finally got a tiny bit of rain last night.  Weather guy has been predicting rain and we weren’t getting it.    Sometimes the mountains to our West change the pattern of a rain system as it comes over the mountains OR stops it entirely.    We got a little bit of rain during the night but Mom still got the lawn mowed.    Thankful for that too!    Also thankful that Mom and Dad seem less “stressed” lately – one of the other benefits of being vaccinated!

I’m also thankful I got Angel Sammy’s poem last night……….they sure have good wi-fi at the Bridge!

Time To Share Poetry!!

Howdy………nice to see all of you – this once a week poetry exchange is so much fun for me and I hope for you.    I give you a photo and you have a whole week to think about writing a poem using the photo as inspiration.   Funzies!

SO – let’s get to it……..here’s the photo I gave you last week for THIS week’s poem followed by the poem I wrote which this photo inspired in my brain!

“Peas Again??!”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©June 9, 2021

Mama, Mama, oh pretty please

Don’t make me eat any more of those peas!

You say they’re good veggies and taste real yummy

But I’ve got to tell you they rumble in my tummy!

They’re squishy and icky and please listen Mother

They go in one place and immediately out the other!

HAHA……sorry – I couldn’t resist.    This baby’s expression is so perfect for so many things.   I could have written five poems but decided on the “OFF” one as my favorite.   I can’t wait to see the poems you wrote for Mr. Grumpy.    If you wrote one, you can share it in our comments OR give us a link to your blog so we can read it!

Kids are so much fun to take photos of and to “give voice” to their endless facial expressions.    I have used many kids’ photos since we’ve been doing Poetry together and they always are delightful to use as poetic subjects.

I found this photo for us all to use for next week’s inspiration……hope you like it!

Wheeee!    I could even drive this one!!!     Have fun writing a poem for this photo……….and yes this is a REAL vehicle not a toy!

See you all next week – when we get together to GET POETIC.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Hugs, Angel Sammy
