Friendly Friday Fill-Ins

Standard

Time for some filling in sentence fun.    This is a great blog hop co-hosted by two of our friends…………Miss Annie at McGuffy’s Reader and Miss Ellen at 15andMeowing.    All you do is fill in the blanks in the four sentences these ladies give us Hoppers every Friday – easy right?   It sure is, and if you visit all the Hoppers, you learn all kinds of stuff about each other from what they fill those blanks in WITH.   Yep – trust me.    Want to play along?    Click the badge above and go to McGuffy’s and LINK UP!

This week I decided that I – Teddy the Tiger – can fill in the blanks all by myself instead of letting Mom do them.    My fill-ins are in RED!

1. My favorite president is the president of whatever company owns the company that makes my cat food because I like my foodables a lot!.

2. This weekend, I have plans to sleep, eat, and play – not necessarily in that order.

3. I love my life, and my Mom and Dad.

4. I believe that it will be hard for me to lose weight even though my doctor wants me to and I’m on a DIET now!  BOOOOO.

Yep my friends – that #4 is true.  I had a vet appointment yesterday for shots and he had the NERVE to tell my Mom that I weigh too much.   I’m not even TWO YEARS OLD and I’m on a diet?   Well, the fact I weigh 20 lbs. already could have something to do with that I suppose.   Still, if I do lose weight maybe my Dad won’t call me Bubblebutt any longer and Mom won’t call me her little Teletubby (or Teletabby).     I’m now on a prescription diet food!     Sniff.   Oh well – I know I can do this!    I already get lots of exercise because my Mom and Dad play with me a LOT up and down three flights of stairs and with the red dot and walks in the yard but they can “step it up” and play even more with me.    I’ll LIKE that!   Let’s just hope I don’t STARVE.

This print my Dad bought a few years ago which he said reminded him of Angel Sammy NOW looks a

lot like me – at least with the SAD expression; not the SIZE of him though that’s for sure!!!!

Love, Poor Pitiful Me……..Teddy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Today We’re THANKFUL with Brian and Poetic with Sammy!

Thursday is our “two posts for one” day – we’re starting off with being Thankful on Thursday with our friend Brian (click badge above) and joining his Thankful Blog Hop.   We all share what we’re thankful for and it’s fun to see what everyone has been thankful for the previous week.   If you click the badge you will go there and you can join up with the rest of us!

I have a kind of silly thankful this week – today is day TWO of some incredible weather here in Virginia.   It’s February and we have two days in a row of almost 80 degrees.   That is TRULY weird.   Oh a “normal” February day, it’s anywhere from 30 -45 degrees and maybe some snow thrown in the mix.   We even DID have snow this past Saturday!    Anyway, it’s been glorious and I’ve been able to get Mom and Dad to take me out on the front porch for some SUN and some fresh air and lots of walks around the yard.   I’ve dug some holes, eaten some grass and rolled around in the dirt!   LIFE IS GOOD.   Tonight cold comes back so I’ve been very THANKFUL for a break!

Onward to part two of our blog today which is when we get to see the poem Angel Sammy sent us for his Poetic Thursday challenge……………

♥♥♥

It’s Poetic Thursday my friends…

Nice to be with you all today – Thursday is MY day with what used to be MY blog but my little brother Teddy is now hosting.    He does a great job but gives me some space to do MY thing on Thursdays.    Every week I give you a PHOTO and your challenge is to write a poem about that photo – what does it make you think about, what do you feel when you look at it, what comes to mind, etc.    It’s a lot of fun……..AND everyone can write a poem if you just try.     Honest!     After I share my poem from this past week’s photo, I’ll give you a NEW photo for NEXT Thursday to write a poem about……….

Here was last week’s Photo inspiration:

Alone

By Angel Sammy Kimmell   Feb. 22, 2018

There are times when we really want to be alone

No knocks on the door, no ringing telephone

Just relaxing in the quiet of a “newborn” day

No questions asked – so no answers to say

But being alone isn’t always the best

We might have a problem to get off our chest!

We might need some help with a problem or two

Or perhaps there are times when only a hug will do…

Still, it’s important to feel “whole” when we’re just one

For each of us has a journey of our own to be done

The road we each travel is ours to complete

Although having a partner makes the trip much more sweet.

Sometimes it’s good to be alone………..but sometimes we really don’t want to be alone and need a friend or partner to be there for us and with us.    We are though individuals over and above what we are with others so we HAVE to be comfortable within ourselves.   My Mom says she learned this when she was single after being married the first time!!   She didn’t know how to be ONE – she only knew how to be HALF of two!     I was always alone being an “only kitty” but to tell you the truth, I was always MUCH happier when my Mom and Dad were there with me………….  That was the inspiration for my poem today.    And “ALONE” was the first thing that popped into my head when I wrote my poem for today.

Did you write a poem?   If you did, how about giving us the link to your poem in my comments?   We can ALL read it!   If you didn’t write one – join us next week……I promise you’ll have fun.    Now for next week’s photo inspiration!!

This one ought to be fun right?   I’ll see you next week – can’t wait to see what you do with this photo…………..it’s thought-provoking for sure!

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks my brother!    That was a doozy of a poem…………….and I’ll be looking forward to next Thursday when we get together again to be THANKFUL and to read POETRY together!!!

Hugs, Teddy

P.S.

We learned this morning that Sarge – Blogville’s favorite pawlice chief and friend to all, has left for the Rainbow Bridge.   We hadn’t heard from him in a long time and then when we did – it was this sad news……..we will always remember this special guy.   You can leave a message for his family HERE

Good Morning!  Shall we begin?

Time for the Teaser everyone and I hope you all got a good night’s sleep, had a good breakfast to start off your day, and are ready to ROCK the Teaser this morning!!

Did you say ROCK???

Yes but not ROCK as in “and ROLL” – as in “do a great job” !

Tomorrow we will find out with the Tell All who was our FIRST COMMENTER this morning – WHAT?  You forgot to comment?   You’d better go RIGHT NOW.    We reminded you at the beginning of class but maybe you’re late?

A Teaser that’s truly tough

SPARKS on Monday

Standard

Time for SPARKS on a Monday – a blog hop Annie of McGuffy’s Reader is hosting that has a goal of starting our week off with some inspiration – lighting up the corners of dark days – giving power to the positive things around us…….by sharing an inspirational quote, thought, photo and putting it “out there” for everyone to think about too!    Thank you Annie for giving us all a forum for sharing some inspiration.    Want to join us?  Click on Annie’s badge above and sign up on the Linky form……….

It’s interesting but when I was looking for something that would be a good SPARK today, I found a quote by a former President that REALLY, TRULY, is “me”………..those who know me know I am always touting “POSITIVITY”……..looking at the positive side of anything rather than the negative side.    Apparently our former President Abraham Lincoln was a fan of positivity too.    Since today is President’s Day in the US, I just knew it was the right one for me to share today…………….

That’s positivity alright…………as far back as I can remember I have believed that so many things are effected by our outlook – are we looking for something to complain about or are we thinking of ways to make that thing better?    Are we complaining because it’s raining outside or are we remembering that the rain helps keep our world green and beautiful?    Seems simple but I have to admit that I know a lot of people who DWELL in the negative.   Not me.    Count me on Abe’s side!

Happy Positive Monday!

Love Pam

Pre-Teaser Monday!

Standard

It’s Monday!   Time for Pre-Teaser Class!

ALRIGHT! Let’s see a little hustle in your bustle students – time to get to classrooms!

Yes dear children….do enter the calmness of the classroom….I have been taking yoga and learning how to be ZEN……I am a much CALMER Sarge!!!!

Holy cow – Does Sarge have amnesia or somethin’ ???

Who stole our mean Sarge and gave us this Zen guy???

Hello Class!  Happy Monday………looks like Sarge’s pants injury and subsequent hot tub experience has turned him into “Mr. Nice Guy” but you have to wonder just how long THAT will last!!

Anyway, welcome to Geography class where we prepare you for tomorrow’s guessing game – “Where Was The Photo Taken” ???     We will be showing you a photo tomorrow at a SURPRISE TIME with our TEASER POST and you will have to figure out where it was taken.   Fun huh?   Well yes in fact it IS fun.    Just ask any of our TEASER WINNERS – they’ll tell you!

We have a GUEST TEASER tomorrow too…………….now here are the rules – I know most of you know them by now but we might have a visitor or new follower who doesn’t………..

Then on top of that when our post tomorrow goes live – you can hurry here to make a comment on the blog and you might be the FIRST COMMENTER – you will earn yourself a reward!

For some getting an award is no biggie for some others, they like to mention their wins and badges on their blogs………and we’re happy about that too.    There are more badges to win as well – if you are the FIRST RIGHT GUESSER or a RIGHT GUESSER but not the first, or even a WRONG GUESSER you still get something:

So make sure your brains are well rested tonight and ready to examine tomorrow’s photo.    Who knows – you may get something for the effort!     Speaking of effort – you will be happy to know that Miss Dingleberry – who went ALL OUT last week for Valentine’s Day with her fabulous food spread for all of us, has a snack after class for all of you today.    Nothing earth-shattering but still a snack and since it’s a beautiful sunny day, you can take it with you outside to play in the playground at recess.    Fabulous huh?

A little snack is better than no snack at all !

Miss Dingleberry?     Are you going to serve your snack in the schoolroom or outside?

It’s a swell day out there – I’m setting up outside in the SUN!!!

OK students – we will see you tomorrow at a SURPRISE time then for Teaser – enjoy your treat outside and your recess.

Yeah kid?   What’ll it be?????

THIS ICE CWEEEM IS GOOD!

Don’t get sticky ice cream on the swings!

oops – I dropped by ice cream cone through this hole!!

See you tomorrow in class!   Professor Angel Sam and Teddy too

Mom snapped this little gem while I was politely and quietly snoring on the floor in her office this morning – I was minding my own business on top of my pile of used tissue with my favorite plastic fish keeping me company when WHAMMO – Mom got out the flashy and stole this photo of me.  Oh well.   It’s the least I can do right?

Here’s the photo before she messed with it on Lunapic (using the Psychedelic filter) then adding a Pizap border:

Now that I’ve shown you mine – why don’t you show us YOURS???   Selfie that is!!!!    See you  next Sunday for show off selfies again………………

Love, Teddy (Mr. Psychedelic!)

Bakin’ With Bacon

Standard

Saturday!  Time to ask our Baconian Castle Chef to

vacate the premises so I – your King –

can play in the kitchen!!

Oui my King….I am out of here and zeee kitchen, she is all yours!

That’s right – it’s the day of the week that I present to you something yummy to make that involves BACON – after all, this is the land of Baconia that I am King of so we do a lot of bacon-ized things around here!    Today I have something that some people just have no taste for – don’t make or eat them – but down South, everybody knows about them.    What am I talkin’ about?????

GRITS (or you may pronounce

it GREEE-ITS in Southernese!)

Specifically though this grits recipe is for Bacon Cheddar Grits so we’re talking SPECIAL grits.   Not just plain old grits.   My Mom lived in Alabama for some years and her Mom made grits for them frequently – from scratch.  Nowadays they have instant grits and quick cook grits so it doesn’t take as long to make.   This recipe uses quick cook grits but you COULD use instant if you want to!

Teddy’s Bacon Cheddar Grits

INGREDIENTS:

4 slices bacon, finely chopped  (you CAN actually use as much bacon as you want……but try to be reasonable!)

1 jalapeno, finely chopped (optional – if you like a little “heat”!)

 4 1/2 cups water

 1 cup quick-cooking grits

 Coarse salt and ground pepper

1 cup plus another 1/2 cup grated sharp cheddar (2.5 ounces)

Directions

  1. 1. In a medium saucepan, cook bacon and jalapeno (optional) over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until bacon is browned, about 8 minutes. With a slotted spoon, transfer bacon and jalapeno (if using) to a small bowl. Remove pan from heat and carefully add 4 1/2 cups water (fat may sputter).
  2. 2. Bring liquid to a boil over high and whisk in grits. Whisk until mixture begins to thicken, then reduce heat to low and gently simmer, stirring occasionally to prevent sticking, 25 minutes or until creamy. Season with salt and pepper. Whisk in 1 cup grated cheddar and three-fourths the bacon mixture. Pour into a 2-quart serving dish and top with remaining cheddar and remaining bacon mixture.

Mmmmmmmmm – Good!

I’m trying to be patient – I wanna try some grits!!!!!

Everyone comes running when there’s BACON involved!    Hope you all try this recipe – trust me – even if you’re not a FAN of grits – you will be soon!!!!

See you next Saturday from the Castle Kitchen of Baconia….until then – EAT BACON!

Friendly Friday Fill-Ins

Standard

It’s Friday already – time to fill in the blanks in the four sentences we get every week from our co-hosts Ellen of 15andMeowing and Annie of McGuffy’s Reader.    It’s easy – we get two sentences from each of our hosts and we fill in the blanks in the sentences.   Then what?   Well, we visit everyone who’s linked up to the blog and see how THEY filled things in – amazing how much you can learn about people from some blanks in a sentence………besides, it’s lots of fun.    If you want to join in – just click Annie’s badge above – link up and VOILA.

Here are this week’s sentences and Mom is doing them this week as they are more “people” oriented – thank heavens I don’t pay taxes so can’t fill that one in AT ALL……!!    Mom’s fill-ins are in GREEN.

1. My Chinese zodiac animal is PIG – I adore pigs so I’m “good” with that!.

2. My zodiac sign is LIBRA and I am “right on” with much of what the standard Libra description says – for the most part anyway!.

3. Income tax season is something my husband deals with but we are LUCKY because we almost always break even – our tax people have us right on target apparently.

4. In hindsight, I can say without any hesitation that I have had a wonderful life thusfar – ups and downs yes but I rejoiced over the ups and endured the downs and here I am – still going strong as I head into my 71st year.   Grateful?  You betcha.

Thanks Mom!    I don’t know any of that stuff about signs and zodiac animals but I hope my sign is CAT – I’m getting good at being one I think!

Oh before I go, I know some of you read our Thursday blog where Angel Sammy gives us a photo to write a poem about every week?    Well the photo that Angel Sammy gave us yesterday for NEXT Thursday’s poetry inspiration was a cool photo and we thought it might make an even cooler puzzle.    So here’s a puzzle for those of you who enjoy jigsaws.   First the photo, then the puzzle.   Good luck!  You can post your time in comments if you like!

Again my Angel brother Sammy didn’t let us all down – he got his photo poem to me which is what we’ll be reading in PART TWO of today’s double post…………….here’s what he sent to us all!

♥♥♥

Hello Friends – it’s me coming to you from the Rainbow Bridge!

“Home Sweet Home”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell   Feb. 15, 2018

In the vastness of space we can’t be alone

I mean other lifeforms – I’m not talking clones!

Do they have six heads and four legs – or more?

Will they visit us soon or have they been here before?

As we send things in space like satellites and rockets

Does some giant gather them up and stuff them in his pockets?

Are our space probes just trophies for beings in space?

When I look at this photo my imagination does race!

I can watch from my cloud at the Bridge and I wonder

Are other beings sending rain?  Are their voices the thunder?

Will they watch us implode or give us a hand………

Show us the way out before humankind’s last stand?

Such heavy thoughts for an Angel in paradise far away

The blue planet is still MY HOME, so I continue to pray

Planet Earth is a beauty – we can see that from afar

We must take good care of home – our Blue Planet Star…………..

Now it’s YOUR turn…………….I hope you’ve written a poem this week.    If you didn’t but think you’d like to give writing one a try – how about using this photo I’m about to show you as your inspiration for NEXT Thursday when we gather again for my Poetic Thursday?     Just look at this photo below and describe in your poem how it makes you feel, what you see, what you THINK you see, or anything else that pops into your head when you look at it!    Is it a deal?    Here’s next week’s photo challenge:

Have Fun With This One!

I’ll be back next Thursday to show you my poem – we all have a whole week to study the photo and write a poem………………until then, have a GREAT week!

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy – I like your poem…………makes me think.   I hope that Earth will be around for a very long time and I think it will if we take good care of it!    Sending you hugs from EARTH to the BRIDGE……………..

Hugs, Teddy
