Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

It’s TWO FOR ONE DAY!

First up for us today is being THANKFUL with our friend Brian – we all post what we’re thankful for lately and share our posts by joining the Hop -you can do that too if you click Brian’s badge above and fill out the LINKY form.   Why not – I’m sure you have something you can be thankful “out loud” for!

What am I thankful for today?   One thing is that in spite of the ridiculously hot and humid weather, my Mom and Dad continue to indulge me by taking me out on my harness for walks – actually we don’t do a whole lot of walking………I just take them down into the edge of the woods where I get underneath a forsythia shrub and lie down to watch through the foliage as birds and squirrels run by or fly overhead.   It’s like watching TV.   Very entertaining.   Mom and Dad can sit on the swing/bench there and hopefully NOT get bit by mosquitoes (sometimes those sprays just don’t QUITE keep up with the bugs!).    I’m also thankful that Mom got my reservation at Paws A While Pet Hotel CONFIRMED for when they desert me go away for a few days in October.   I love the place – I was there LAST year when they went away and those Sisters sure know how to spoil me!

I’m also thankful of course that we got an email from Angel Sammy which contains his poem for this week AND a photo for next week.    He said in a “P.S.” to me accompanying the poem that he hopes more of you decide to give writing a poem a try.   I hope you take him up on that challenge!!

Here’s his email to us……………..

Hello Poetic Friends!!

You know that August 28th was Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day and I just want to say one thing………..you all spent the day recalling your pets of the past who were no longer with you and who were residing where I am here at the Bridge…….well, just so you know, up at the Bridge, all of US spent the day remembering all of YOU and wishing we could be with you again.   Love goes both ways you know.   One day we’ll all be together.   Believe it.

Now on to happier things – POETRY!    Did you write one this week to go with the photo I gave you to use as inspiration?    I did!    Here’s the photo you were to use to write your poem and following that is MY poem.   If you wrote one yourself – BRAVO!    Please give us a link to your poem OR write your poem in our comments.

“The Long Rest”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     July 29, 2018

When at last our long rest arrives

We don’t want tears in our loved ones eyes

We hope they know we are in a beautiful place

Our youth returned, smiles on our face

Our pain is gone, our infirmities have left

The only difficulty we have is to have you bereft

Don’t be sad because we are physically gone

We’re always there – from dusk to dawn

We’re by your side – we’ll kiss your cheek

We’re on the wind – no need to speak

In dreams at night we’re busy too

You’re NOT alone – we’re there with you

Our time had come when we had to leave

It broke our hearts to see you grieve

Remember one day we will welcome you here

It will be a joyous reunion – so have no fear………………

I hope this won’t make any of you SAD who have recently lost someone in your family be they human or animal because the leaving is painful but where we are, we are happy and waiting for the day we’ll be together again.   The statue in the photo above is so beautiful – and she looks like she’s merely asleep……..resting peacefully.    Someone put flowers in her outstretched hand – but believe me – SOMEONE was there waiting to take hold of her hand and welcome her “home”.

Now how about a photo for next week?    See what you can do with this one for inspiration!!

Can you say HAPPY????   Oh yeah…………………I’ll look forward to meeting you here NEXT WEEK and we’ll share some poetry OK?    Join in the fun – everyone can write a poem – doesn’t even have to rhyme…..it can be in ANY form too.

I hope all of you have a terrific week ahead.    My little brother Teddy talked about his “Thankfuls” for the Blog Hop with Brian and I have a thankful to add of my own.   I’m THANKFUL that all of you are continuing to stop by Teddy’s blog and join in the fun around here…….with Tuesday Teasers, Poetic Thursdays, Bacon on Saturdays – lots of fun to be had around here I’d say.

See you next Thursday everybody…………………….hug someone you love today.   You’ll be happy that you did and so will they!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Time for the THANKFUL THURSDAY Hop, hosted by my friend Brian.   We get together via the Hop on Thursdays and talk about how thankful we are for WHATEVER – if you think about it, I know that we ALL have things we’re thankful for.   If you’d like to join in the Hop – click Brian’s badge above and join in.

I don’t have a specific thing to be thankful for this week but I do believe in expressing my thankfulness every single day.   Mom and I have quiet time in the morning together before Dad gets up and one of the things we always do is say a little prayer of thanks for BEING HERE and having a quiet and peaceful life in a comfy home with friends and family.   It’s easy to take things like that for granted.   We hope we NEVER EVER do that.

I’m also thankful that my Angel brother Sammy got through with his wi-fi connection to transmit his Thursday poem to us!    A Thursday without poetry from him AND without reading everyone else’s photo challenge poetry just wouldn’t be as fun!

Here’s what I got from Sammy overnight……….

♥♥♥

Hello everyone………it’s Thursday again and time to share some poetry.   I hope you decided to participate this week whether you’ve written a poem before or not.   It’s a fun thing to do and I try to make it a challenge by giving you a photo every week to use as “inspiration” for your poetry!    So far everyone who is writing a poem is doing an amazing job.    We have some REAL poets out there in blog land and happily some of them are our blog followers.

So, in case you need to see last week’s photo that I gave you to write a poem from, here it is again, followed by my poem.

“Cat Pals”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell    May 31, 2018

Buddies and pals can be quite fun

Having two or three can be more fun than ONE

Someone to play with, or sleep with or cuddle

It’s hard to play football when you’re alone in the huddle!

If something goes wrong, your pal can be there

They can give reassurance, or comb out your hair!

Or clean out your ears, or lick food off your face

Pals don’t want their friends to look like a disgrace!

But some animals are fine being the one and only

If you’ve always been “just one” then you can’t feel lonely

If our humans play with us and talk to us and stuff

Being on our own in the household is not really tough!

We get all the attention, all the treats, all the toys

We can be just as happy, and just as full of real joy

But if one day my humans decide to get me a pet

You’d better believe it’s a CAT they would get !

My Dad was always a dog guy before he met my Mom…………Mom quickly converted him to a cat guy………..and I have to say, both Teddy and I are happy that happened !!

SO, I bet you’re anxious to see the photo that I have for you for NEXT week – but I have to say first that I’m hoping you wrote a poem for TODAY with the kitty photo.  Did you?  If so, tell us in comments and give us your blog link so we can READ it OR if you want, write your poem in our comments to share.

Here’s your challenge photo for NEXT Thursday!

This will be a fun one don’t you think?????   We’ll share what we all come up with next Thursday.   Until then, I will remind you that I am THANKFUL you are our friends.   I’m also THANKFUL if you take up the challenge to express your creativity with a poem – I can promise you it’s not as hard as you might think it is.

Until next week, I’m sending you all Heavenly Hugs from the Rainbow Bridge…………….

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Hugs, Angel Sammy

Well I can’t top that – so I will just say – see you next Thursday for Thankful and Poetic Thursday!

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

We are THANKFUL today!

We are joining Brian’s Blog Hop today to talk about what we’re thankful for.    Would you like to join in too?    Click his badge above and join up!    It’s EASY to share your “thankfuls” !

Today Mom and I are being very THANKFUL that my Dad’s outpatient surgery yesterday went well.   He’s never had surgery before so it was a bit nerve-wracking for him even with my Mom who is the Queen of Surgery (well….not quite) thought she had him prepared.   Nothing TEACHES like experience I guess.   We think maybe he thought he’d be up and running around the block after the surgery and instead he’s supposed to not do much of anything but WALK for a couple of weeks at least.   Anyway, point is, we are very thankful that he’s fine and that his surgery was successful.    Thank you everyone who sent us positive thoughts and prayers.    THEY WORKED!

I’m also thankful that Angel Sammy got his photo poem to me for this week………..I think it’s great that even though he’s super busy with his duties at the Bridge he STILL finds time to send a poem to me every week so I can share it with you.    We’re having fun with the “photo poems” are you?

♥♥♥♥

It’s Poetic Thursday Time!

Hello my friends – greetings from the Rainbow Bridge.    Teddy is right – I’m kept very busy up here mostly with my duties as part of the WELCOMING COMMITTEE for all new Angels on their arrival here.   It’s a bittersweet duty – I love seeing my friends again and MAKING new friends but I’m sad they are no longer with their humans and fur families in BODY.    They always will be with them in spirit though.

The photo I gave you last week to use as your inspiration for THIS week’s poem was an interesting one.   Several of you wrote to Teddy to say it had an air of mystery about it!    Well I wanted it to be different and challenging so maybe it was?    The whole idea is I give you a photo every Thursday and you have a whole week to write a poem that has been INSPIRED by the photo.   Easy right?   Well, it really is easy to write a poem – just write what you feel, what you see, what you wonder about when you see the photo.   Doesn’t have to rhyme – just has to be about the photo in ANY poetic format.     Here’s the photo I gave you last Thursday and below it my poem to share with you.

“Taking A Chance”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, February 1, 2018

It’s ever so easy to stay in place

Not moving forward or backward – not joining the race

It’s safe and secure when no chances are taken

No difficult times to face and no hearts for breaking

But outside the box that we build around our lives

Adventure and excitement are alive and they thrive!

We may never find “better” or “different” or “new”

If we’re frozen in place and afraid to pursue

Exploring possibilities is a gift to give ourselves

Finding out our strengths as into our hearts we delve

Around every corner and up every stair

We won’t ever know what delights might be there!

Life is too short to stay hidden behind the door

There are wonders to see and delights to explore.

The photo above is so totally cool I have some info for you about WHERE and WHAT it is……………..it’s in an ancient almshouse in Stamford, England…………..and if you CLICK HERE you can find out more!

I saw that staircase going up up up and thought it was much like the staircase of life – we do it in stages (steps) – and don’t always make it to the top but if we stay on one stair we may miss out on the very best thing EVER at the top of life’s staircase!

I have another fun photo for you for next week’s photo poetry challenge.    Let’s see what you do with this one!    Remember, put your blog link in our comments so we know to visit you and see what your poem for today is – OR write your poem HERE in our comments – either way, we’ll see what you created this week.

Let’s see what you do with THIS ONE!!     Until then, please have a SUPER week………….I will look forward to reading your poems next Thursday!

Hugs from the Angel Poet Sammy

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Thank you Angel Sammy – I think that’s a super photo for next week…………..makes me want to say “ARRRRRRRGH!” like a pirate!    Everybody have a good week thinking about that photo and coming up with a poem for next week.    I’ll see you tomorrow here on the blog – same time, same place!

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thankful Thursday (then we’ll get Poetic!)

First this Thursday we want to take some time to thank Brian for being our host for Thankful Thursday – you can pop over and join in the fun if you click his badge above and join the BLOG HOP to talk about everything we are THANKFUL for.    This week I am thankful for my very FIRST Christmas tree experience – Mom and Dad were a little worried about how I would behave with a tree in the library BUT I took a page from Angel Sammy’s book about how to behave around a Christmas tree and I am lying UNDER the tree on the tree skirt and minding my own business…..haven’t touched an ornament (although they are tempting) and have not tried to climb the tree (I’m not much of a climber anyway).    Mom and Dad are THANKFUL that I’m behaving!    See, I know Santa Paws has me on his NICE list now and I don’t want him to move me to the NAUGHTY list!

I’m also thankful that Angel Sammy got through the clouds from the Bridge on his wi-fi connecting cloud and send me his POETIC THURSDAY poem last night!    Ready?

♥♥♥♥

Happy Poetic Thursday Friends!

Time for our get-together on Thursdays each week to exchange some poetic thoughts……………we are at the END of the alphabet again and thanks to all of you who voted in the poll last week, we will be starting our PHOTO POEM CHALLENGE next week!     Instead of moving through the alphabet a letter at a time, I will be showing you a photo the week before and the following Thursday we will all write a poem about what WE see in the photo or what we FEEL from seeing the photo – or ANYTHING relating to the photo I show you!    I think it’s going to be tons of fun.   The photos can be ANYTHING………a place, a thing – ANYTHING.   I will give you your Photo for NEXT Thursday AFTER I share with you my poem for the last letter of the alphabet – “Z” !!

The prompts I gave you last week were just ideas for you – as you know by now you can write a poem about ANYTHING that begins with the letter “Z” – the suggestions were:

(1) Zoo (2) Zing (3) Zipper (4) Zap

I decided to use one of my own prompts for today!

“Zoo”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, Dec. 6, 2017

A zoo is a place where animals are “kept”

Where things look so neat and sidewalks are swept

Where snacks are sold and kids carry balloons

But behind the scenes may be a much different tune

The animals living there really had no choice

They were unable to decline to go there – they had no voice

They are out of their element, far far from home

Sometimes in small cages where they cannot roam

It’s true that zoos are better than they used to be

They are eliminating cages and let animals run free

Wide open spaces and more natural food

It’s more comfortable for the animals and does them good

Zoos help the endangered and give medical care to the sick

The animals aren’t stuck in circuses and forced to do tricks

But one day it would be wonderful if we could see

A time when all animals could live lives that are free………..

It is true that zoos are so much better for the most part than they were when my Mom was a child………..animals looked so sad holding into the bars watching the people freely come and go.   Much like the way animals in shelters and pet stores look until they are lucky enough to get their FOREVERS like I was – and like Teddy was!

So enough about ZOOS – I hope you wrote a poem today to celebrate the LAST letter of the alphabet?  If you did, make sure you give us your blog link in my comments here – or write your poem in a comment……….we’d LOVE to read your poetic endeavor!     Those of you who have said that you’ve never written poetry before – neither had my Mom or myself until we tried – and we found it was fun AND challenging.

Next Thursday we begin the NEW Poetic Challenge.   I will give you a photo in my post here today – and next Thursday your poem should be ABOUT the photo…..what you see, what you THINK you see, how it makes you feel, what it makes you think of……….WHATEVER!   The photo is just a “springboard” to a poem…………I think it will be fun, and I hope you will enjoy it.   I had tons of YES votes in the poll we had last week so let’s give it a whirl!    Here is your photo for NEXT Thursday.    Ready???

Quite an unusual photo isn’t it……………………….let it spark your imagination – what do you see?   What do you feel when you see it?   Make up a story about it in poetry form – or ANYTHING it makes you think about.     Every week it will be a different type of photo – this is just our first one…………….SO – it’s a date right?  I’ll see you next Thursday and you will all write a poem about this photo.   YOU CAN DO IT!

‘Tis I ! Angel Sammy, zeeee French poet!!!

See you next Thursday!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥♥

Well this ought to be a lot of fun and VERY interesting too as a challenge…………………………..Meanwhile, I hope all of you have a great Thankful and Poetic Thursday!
