Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Thursday is here and so am I !!    I’m going to be THANKFUL first then onward to Angel Sammy’s weekly poem.    Thankful?  Yep – I always am.  Anytime I stop and think about my world, I realize it’s FULL of thankfuls.   This morning for instance I was outside with my Dad in the COLD COLD COLD and I realized at one point when I was hunkered down in the leaves that I really didn’t HAVE to be out there – it was my idea to go but I sure didn’t have to STAY.    I got up and lickety split headed for the front door dragging my Dad by the leash he was holding and back inside we came to get warm.   What if I had nowhere to get warm?   So many animals don’t.   Makes me sad thinking about them but I’m SO thankful I’m not one of them.

We got our regular email from Angel Sammy overnight.   So I’m able to share yet again his poem and a new photo for those of you who are playing along with us with the Poetic Thursday fun.   Some of you are “on the fence” about going out of your comfort zone to try writing a poem.  Let me encourage you to do it.   You just might ENJOY writing one!

Here’s Sammy’s email………..

It’s Poetic Thursday – are you ready?

Hi everyone!  It’s me – Angel Sammy – the cat poet here for another bit of fun with poetry on Thoroughly Poetic Thursday.    If you’ve joining us for the first time, every Thursday we share a poem that we have written during the week using a photo that I provide to you (and me) for inspiration!    What we see in the photo, how we feel looking at the photo, what it makes is think about, etc.   It’s up to you to write any form of poetry about the photo.    It’s fun.   Try it!    Last week I gave you this photo – and following it is my poem for the week.

“Magic and Mystery”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell     December 5, 2018

On misty shores the maiden moves along

Towards magical towers and a mysterious song……

Only she can hear.

The message in the bottle promised her love

If she’d follow the light and the sound of the dove……

Towards her hearts’ desire.

Her dreams led her here to this shore

To find the bottle to learn much more……

She was ready for adventure.

She’d been different from others all her life

Her illness was painful and hurt like a knife…..

It was such a burden for all.

The thought of some happiness drew her here

She felt something extraordinary was ever so near…..

She heard the music in her heart.

At the gates of the castle she was met by a light

It was burning yet cool and felt ever so right…..

The Angel said “Welcome to Heaven”.

OK – I can almost hear you.   This is very different for me isn’t it?!   Well this photo when I first saw it stirred something in me (and my MOM!) and we felt like it needed a different “message” than the usual.    I began writing it NOT with this ending in mind – it just CAME TO ME as I was about half way through.    Anyway, I hope you like it and I can’t wait to see what you’ve written!    If you wrote a poem this week, let us know in comments and give us your blog link so we can read it!   OR – write your poem in our comments so others can enjoy it.

Ready for next week’s photo?    Here it is!

This ought to be a doozie.   My Mom says no doubt this is what every shopping mall in the world looks like right about now.  I thought it would be a good photo to use for us to write about as we sneak up to Christmas!

Are you ready for the holidays?    I used to LOVE when the house got decorated.   Lying under the tree was my favorite thing.    That’s ME on the left and Teddy on the right.   I trained him well didn’t I ??

Sam Under Christmas Tree

So I will look forward to seeing you here next Thursday.    Give writing a poem a try.   You will be proud of yourself if you do and you just KNOW that I will be too!!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love Forever, Angel Sammy

Oh Angel Sammy you are right – you really DID train me well and I never even met you but when I dream at night there you are……..helping me, teaching me, telling me things I could only learn from you.    I love Christmas as much as you did.    I’m still trying to decide if I like Dad’s train under the tree as much as you did though!    HAHAHA

Love, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Hi everybody.  Yep – it’s Thursday again – the double post day for us but it always starts with being THANKFUL.    Brian hosts this Hop every week and you can be part of the thankful brigade if you want to – click his badge and go to his blog to see all the other Hoppers and sign up on the LINKY form to join us!    You know it’s not just one day a week that we’re thankful – it’s every day of every week because we all have many things that we should be thankful for.   Some of them we kind of take for granted – they are for us “normal” things in our lives, but if you think about it, sometimes those things we consider normal are exceptional for many who aren’t as lucky.   Our warm homes are always here for US but how about all those animals and humans who don’t HAVE a home?   See?   We really do have a lot to be thankful for and that’s just ONE THING.

I always am thankful that my Angel brother Sammy visits us all every week too.    He sends us a poem every week based on the photo he gives us the week before.   He finds time in his busy schedule as an Angel at the Rainbow Bridge to send off an email to me enclosing his poem and a new photo for us to use for next week.   GOSH – you all can’t imagine how THANKFUL I am to still have him in my life.

Another poetry sharing day comes around – time passes very quickly doesn’t it.    It does for us at the Bridge too although “time” is a little different there…………’s hard to explain – you will find out one day in the distant (I hope!) future when you become an Angel yourself.    I do seem to find time to write a poem every week though and I’m always excited to read YOURS so I hope you’ve written one!    If you have, you can share it with us by telling us in our comments that you wrote one and give us your blog link OR you can write your poem in our comments – either way, we’ll get to see what your creative self can come up with based on the photo I give you.

Here’s the photo that I gave you last week to use as inspiration for your poetry today!

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell     Nov. 28, 2018

New York City is a crazy place

On the roads it’s like a stock car race!

Downtown traffic is slow as molasses

Some folks never took driving classes!

Brakes screech loudly and horns are blaring

Lots of yelling and people swearing…….

Those yellow taxis are everywhere

Taking people here or bringing them back from there

People wave at them wildly from sidewalk and street

Getting one to stop for you is quite a feat!

Down at street level it’s almost a riot

But for Angels like me, up above it’s so quiet !

Tee Hee!  I had to make this one a little silly but actually it’s also serious.    Mom and Dad have been to NYC a couple of times and the first time they were there they had the wildest taxi ride EVER.   Yes the taxi got them from point A to point B but Mom said she had never seen anyone drive like the taxi driver did – and he knew a lot of shortcuts and sneaky side streets that were definitely off the beaten path.   Mom held her breath for much of that trip downtown but after it was over, she and Dad had a good old laugh because they’d HEARD about taxi drivers downtown in NYC but never dreamed those stories were TRUE!

Anyway, we have no traffic at the Rainbow Bridge thank heavens.   Just peace and quiet.

Now, would you like to see the photo I found for all of us to use for next week’s poetry fun???

What an interesting photo this is.    I took a few minutes when I found it to really LOOK at it closely.    There’s a lot to see……………….note the bottle on the shoreline?   Makes you wonder what’s really going on here.    Whatever it is, it makes for some real interesting ideas about a poem doesn’t it?    We’ll find out next week how well this photo “spoke to you” as you write a poem.

In the meantime, have fun getting ready for Christmas if you celebrate it……………holiday season you see a lot more SMILES on faces………..I used to love “helping” Mom do the decorating in our house and now Teddy has that duty.    I loved lying under the tree and the train Dad set up under there was for me quite fascinating to watch.    Most of all it just felt MAGICAL to be under the tree on a soft cloth with lights above me and presents around me.    Mom says I was her most FAVORITE present every year under the tree!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Holiday Hugs, Angel Sammy

That was a great poem Angel Sammy and I sure like that photo for next week………………gonna be fun to see what you come up with.    Mom, Dad and I send you big hugs…….we know that on December 2, it will be two years since you left to become a ginger angel…………..we miss you.

Love, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thankful Thursday on a Thanksgiving Day is the bestest combination there could be.   We’re THANKFUL just to be here and to be part of Brian’s Blog Hop every week and we intend to stay with the Hop until it stops Hopping!    If you’d like to join in – click Brian’s badge above and join.    Also we don’t want to forget to THANK Brian for hosting.

The other thankful I’ll mention is that I’ve always enjoyed having Angel Sammy’s Poetic Thursday on the same day we’re THANKFUL.    It’s great timing.   I love hearing from the big brother I never knew at least once a week.   He does whisper in my ear when I’m dreaming sometimes but mostly I only hear from him on Thursdays.

Let me share what I got from him today in the way of a POEM and a message!

Happy Thanksgiving to all those who celebrate it…….!

Here I am on this day of thanks back in my old home with my Mom, Dad and Teddy to share the poem with you that I wrote based on last week’s inspiration photo.    Every week I give you a photo and you have a whole week to figure out what that photo inspires in your creative mind!    Photos make us feel things, see things, and hopefully WRITE things like poetry.   If you wrote one, tell us you did and give us your link in our comments.   We want to read your poetry!     Here’s the photo I gave you last week, followed by MY poem to share with you:

“Garden Guardian”

The Green Man watches in quiet repose

While frogs, bugs and mice climb over his nose!

He sees all and feels all through every season

His visage changes at the whim of nature with no rhyme or reason.

A patch of moss dies on cheek or nose a weed sprouts behind his ear

But always vigilant his eyes keep watch so steady and so clear

At first glance it seems he’s slowly sinking in quicksand oh so cool

Or perhaps he’s just doing the breaststroke across the garden pool?

I have the feeling he’s been there forever keeping watch as best he can…….

Making sure the beauty of his garden is not ruined by the heavy hand of man.

In case you are wondering about this amazing garden feature, it is part of a rather spectacular place called “The Lost Gardens of Heligan” in Cornwall, UK.    There are a number of features similar to this one that you can see should you have the good fortune to visit this magical place.    You might enjoy taking a look at their website!    CLICK HERE

If you didn’t write a poem this week – never fear – you have another chance NEXT week!    I’m about to give you the photo inspiration for another poem that will “hatch” in your imagination (I hope) and you will share with us next Thursday.   Come on – join me won’t you?    It’s FUN to write a poem…………..Honest.     Here’s next week’s photo:

This is a doozy isn’t it?   Now this is a view of things that – as an Angel – I am familiar with……………but it might make you a little queasy.    I bet it does make you think of some interesting things and those interesting things CAN be a poem!!

Now I must get back to my Rainbow Bridge duties…………………so I will leave for now and look forward to you joining me NEXT Thursday and hopefully you will have written a poem with me.    I hope those of you – especially my own family – who celebrate Thanksgiving have a really wonderful and special day.    We should all be thankful EVERY SINGLE DAY and not just one day a year but on Thanksgiving we truly concentrate on our thankfulness so make sure and do that today – even if you aren’t celebrating Thanksgiving!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Thankfully yours with Hugs, Angel Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy.   You are my inspiration every single day and always will be until one day when I join you at the Bridge – then we’ll be the DYNAMIC GINGER DUO!

Can’t a guy get any privacy around here?  I’m cleaning up for Thanksgiving dinner!!

Love, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Good morning!    It’s Thankful Thursday time…………and after we have some “thankfuls” then we’ll share some poetry from Angel Sammy.    We had our first snowfall overnight.   Yep – snow but not that big of a deal because the ground is still not cold enough for the snow to STAY.    I am not sad about that – I’m glad and I hope it works out that way.   So far we have had some LIGHT FLAKES and just now it’s HUGE FAT FLAKES of snow……still, it will turn to rain later and hopefully be GONE!    Mom and Dad don’t have to go anywhere THIS week but next week they have Thanksgiving plans and icy roads are NOT on their wish list (of course!).    Still, I’m thankful that the snow isn’t sticking around this time.   I’m sure we will have plenty of snow days to come and in fact it is predicted we will have more snow this winter than in a VERY LONG TIME.   Guess all that firewood Dad got will be used up this winter (another thing to be thankful for because I love fires in the fireplace!).   Thank you Brian for giving us a forum with your HOP to talk about our “thankfuls” – if we just look for them we will find plenty to be thankful about!

Now, shall we see what Angel Sammy has to say about being Thoroughly Poetic this week.   I received his email from the Rainbow Bridge last night as usual…………..

Happy Thursday Friends!!

Time for us to do a little poetry sharing…….I look forward to this every single week and I hope you do too.   Some of you are participating and writing some wonderful poetry based on the photos I give you each week for inspiration and it does my heart good to read them.   GOOD FOR YOU!!

If you’ve written one and want us to read it – just tell us you did and give us your blog link in our comments here.   It’s fun to see all the creativity flowing around the internet.    As a reminder, here’s the photo I gave you LAST week to use as inspiration for today:

Gosh I just love this photo.   It is such a great shot isn’t it?   I thought it was very inspiring to say the least.   Lots of you said you were reminded as I was of that song about the ant and moving the rubber tree plant.   Well, that’s what THIS photo SCREAMS doesn’t it?   Of course the ant could be a world champion ant weightlifter practicing for the next meet……or a mighty woodcutting ant bringing home firewood or housebuilding material.    Anyway, what did it tell YOU?    Share your poem with us so we can find out!

Here’s my poem for this photo:

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    November 14, 2018

How will you ever know if you don’t try?

How can you complain and ask why, why, why?

If you don’t find your strengths and you don’t give them a chance

Then you’ll find yourself alone in a colony of ants!

They never give up when they have a goal in mind

Whether it’s food, shelter, or safety, they search until they find

While it’s easier to sit back and watch while others get things done

You’ll feel the waste of a day when down goes the sun

Since we know not how long we will be living this existence

Seems a shame to waste time wallowing in our lack of persistence

Let the ant with his “bounty” and his strength from his achievement

Be your inspiration to feel PROUD instead of any sense of bereavement!

Each moment should be lived being bold and brave

As for your personal flag saying “I DID IT MYSELF” – I say LONG MAY SHE WAVE!!!

Now it’s YOUR turn – what did our little ant friend “say” to you this past week?    Here’s the photo I picked out for you to use as inspiration for NEXT Thursday’s poetic exchange……….!!

I love this……………………what an interesting garden feature huh?    Have fun with this one and I will look forward to seeing what you wrote next week AND share my poem as well.    I hope you have a wonderful week whether in the sun or the snow………I’ll be watching you from the Rainbow.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love always, Angel Sammy

Oh I liked your poem this week Angel Sammy and that one for next week is going to be a lot of fun!    I think if that was in my back yard I would love to take naps on top of his head in the sun.   Tee Hee……………..

Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday!

Happy Thursday to one and all!    Double day here for me with Thankful Thursday Hop and Angel Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday challenge.   First up is always being THANKFUL because it is VERY important to recognize all the things we are thankful for.    This past week I was thankful for having such a wonderful place to stay when Mom and Dad are away for a bit – “Paws A While Pet Hotel” is the BEST.   The Sisters who own and operate it are so sweet and they spoil me rotten just as they spoiled Angel Sammy before me.   I’m grateful to be with them.

Wouldn’t you like to join in being Thankful and visiting to see what everyone ELSE is thankful for?   If you would, just click Brian’s badge above and fill out the form with your link.   Easy!

Next up today will be Angel Sammy’s weekly email to me which is transmits from the Rainbow Bridge – it’s all about POETRY!

GREETINGS FRIENDS!!!!    It’s me – Angel Sammy, your old pal now residing at the Rainbow Bridge.    Just because I’m HERE and not THERE doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a poem from time to time.   This little exercise is for all of us to share some poetry once a week.   If you’re not participating, I hope you’ll change your mind and be part of the fun.    If you have written a poem just let us know in comments with your link………..OR you can write your poem IN comments so we can all read it!    FUN huh?   Well it is!   Trust me!

Last week I gave you the photo below to use as your “inspiration” for this week’s poem.    I thought it was a super interesting photo with the buffalo – such an ancient and majestic beast – in the foreground while in the background an ancient geyser – Old Faithful – did its’ thing in a plume of steam from deep within the earth.   Kind of a primitive feel.   Anyway, here’s the photo I gave you, followed by the poem I wrote based on the inspiration I got from the photo:

By Angel Sammy Kimmell      October 17, 2018

In ancient times many beasts did roam

The bison was one and this was his home

Since prehistoric times this land was theirs

They adapted to change with very few cares

The landscape of Yellowstone may have changed

But the bison still belong there – this is their range.

Majestic formations dot their land

Geysers, hot springs, proof of nature’s hand.

They’ve survived through so much – in good times and bleak

Imagine what they could tell us if they could but speak…………..

There’s something so “ancient” about the look of bison………….they have their issues and always have.   They’ve been hunted, their herds culled for various reasons, diseases have plagued them, and yet they go on and on and on as they have since prehistoric times.   There’s something rather MAGICAL about that don’t you think?

Here’s your photo for next week – I hope you like it and find some inspiration for a poem to share with us next Thursday……………

My Mom said this brings back some memories for her……………..I wonder why there’s no “TREAT TRUCK” in neighborhoods for we dogs and cats?    I think it would be popular, don’t you?????

I hope you’ll write a poem with us next week………………I’ll be working on mine to share with you.    Meanwhile, everyone take care of yourselves and know that we Angels are working behind the scenes to try and help as much as we can with everything going on “back home” where you all are.    Love is forever…………

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

Cool poem Angel Sammy!    Those beasts are very strange looking if you ask me, but I say all things from prehistoric periods look just a bit strange – maybe just knowing how long they have SURVIVED in some form or another……..bison are very cool.

See you next Thursday for Poetry!

Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Happy Thursday friends!   Time for our THANKFULS with Brian and our poetry with Angel Sammy.    First up – thankfuls………….and since this is a Blog Hop, if you’d like to join in and tell the world what you’re thankful for, click his badge and join in.

This week I think I’ll just concentrate on being thankful for all my friends and all of you who follow our blog.   If not for our visitors and commenters every day of the week, we wouldn’t be here.   We wouldn’t be having fun every single day.   There would be no Teaser Tuesday or Poetic Thursday or Bakin’ with King Teddy – – – I would miss all of that and hopefully our followers would too.   So let me just say it again – THANK YOU!!!

Angel Sammy got his email to me with his poem for today and his post for all of you…………’s below and he said he hopes you enjoy it!

Greetings from the Bridge!    Another week has gone by and it’s time for us to share poems.   I hope you look forward to Thursdays for that reason along with whatever else you enjoy Thursdays for.   I am hoping you wrote a poem to share with us today – if you did, please tell us you did and give us your link in COMMENTS.   We will visit and read your poem!    Every week I give you a photo that is meant to inspire you to write some bit of poetry.   It’s good for you to be creative and I hope you take the opportunity of some “photographic inspiration” to do that.

Here’s the photo I gave you last week to use for this week:

Now this family is having fun TOGETHER!!   I know about “a bicycle built for two” but this one is a “whopper” !!     Here’s the poem I wrote to go with this photo:

“Tandem Togetherness”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     October 10, 2018

Breezing along on the trail or the road

With five of us pedaling we’re sharing the load!

Enjoying the breeze and camaraderie

Our family can be together and set ourselves free.

The smiles on our faces tell the story of fun

All riding together we’re five and not one.

We’ll stop when we’re ready and talk about the ride

How we pushed ourselves hard – as a matter of pride.

Together we are strong as an active family –

Whether on our bike or not – we’re as CLOSE as we can be!

I really liked this photo – and it reminded me of the Mom and Dad of the Kitties Blue who have a tandem bike they ride a lot.   Imagine having FIVE riders – has to be a lot of fun.    Here’s the photo I found for you to use for NEXT week’s Poetic Thursday.   See if you can’t write a poem inspired by this photo and play along with us next week won’t you?

I found this very cool photo of Old Faithful………….thought we could come up with some fun poetry for this one!    GOOD LUCK!    Don’t be afraid of trying your hand at a poem!   Trust me – you’ll enjoy it.

I continue to be super duper busy here at the Rainbow Bridge – I love the work I do and I always have time to look out for my family and friends……………..we’re always here for you!    See you next week……………

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love from above………….Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy……………….that photo for next week has me wondering – – – I don’t think I’ve ever SEEN such a weird looking cat before!!!!!!!    See you all next week…………..

Love, Teddy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

HAPPY THURSDAY!    Time for Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.   We all hop on board the THANKFUL train and share what we’ve been thankful for the past week.    Want to join us?   Click the badge above.   Easy.

As for what I’m thankful for, the first thing that pops into my head is that our ENDLESS rain has become off and on…….this morning we have sun but later we’ll have t-storms so we’re FINALLY at least getting a bit of sun.   Rain is good but too much of it is BAD as everyone who was effected by Florence knows.   Anyway, that’s one thing of “thankful”.   Another is that my Mom had a very nice birthday this week thanks to all the wonderful friends who sent messages wishing her a happy one.   She had that and more!

I’m also of course thankful that Angel Sammy got through from his wi-fi connection at the Rainbow Bridge to send us his poem of the week………………here it is!

Let’s Get Poetic!

Hi Friends!   Thursday is our day – we get together and share some poetry based on a photo that gives us some inspiration.   Kind of fun to pick up a vibe from a photo and turn it into a poem.   If you’ve done that with the photo I gave you last week – BRAVO!   Let us know you did in our comments – we’ll visit you to read it.    If you didn’t – I hope maybe you will give it a try.   Everyone looks at a photo and feels SOMETHING from what they see – it’s just a hop, skip and jump from FEELING something to writing about it.

Here’s the photo I gave you last week…………………followed by my poem based on what I felt when I looked at the photo:

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     September 26, 2018

The years will pass in the blink of an eye

But love can remain as time passes by

If foundations are strong and the relationship is true

The bond lasts FOREVER like SUPER GLUE!!!

HAHA!   I fooled you with that one right?

I thought I’d have some FUN with a poem as I don’t often do that – most of my Thursday poems are longer and more “deep” but I love this photo so much (and so does my Mom!) that it just didn’t call for a lot of work – I made it EASY – just like love that’s right can be very EASY.    The couple in this photo are enjoying a moment.   Life is full of moments and we should make as many of them as happy as we can.    Mostly because we never really know how long we will be HERE………….we need to make sure we pack in as much learning, life and love as we can!!

Now, would you like to see the photo I picked for you for next week?????

As a cat of course I love this photo for many reasons (!) but I just think it’s very cool so many birds are gathered in the same spot to enjoy a dip or a drink!    Have fun with this one!    We’ll be getting together next Thursday again to share our poems.

Hope everyone has a good week…………….you know up here at the Rainbow Bridge we don’t really have “time” like we did before we came here.    We’re also pretty busy – sometimes keeping watch over you, sometimes helping newcomers adjust, sometimes just floating on a cloud remembering our “BEFORES”.     All of YOU are part of those dreams!

See you next week!   Love, Angel Sammy

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Thank you brother…………..we will look forward to your poem next week and I’ll look for you in my dreams…………………

Love, Teddy
