Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday!   This is our “two for one” day you know……………first up we join Brian’s THANKFUL THURSDAY Blog Hop by telling our “thankfuls” for this past week.    You can join in with us by clicking his badge above and doing the LINKY form…………in the meantime I can tell you that I am VERY GLAD that my Mom saved me from a “difficult” situation yesterday.   I thanked her by giving her a big sloppy kiss after she rescued me.   And I didn’t squirm around in her arms when she picked me up and I am normally a world class squirmer.   That’s because I knew she’d “saved my bacon” …….what am I talkin’ about?   WELL, yesterday Mom and I were in the front yard and she decided while I was sniffing around in the grass and poking around in the leaves that she’d do a little weeding in the front stone garden.   She dropped my leash and pulled up some whopper-sized weeds then looked over at me and she saw that I had ventured beyond the EDGE of the front wooded area and through the big pile of leaves Dad blew in there last Fall……..I was dragging my leash behind me and headed right into all the sticker bushes/vines like I was TOTALLY FEARLESS.    Well, that didn’t last long because I managed to get into a spot that was so full of sticker vines that it was like being in a cage.    I couldn’t even MOVE!     Meanwhile Mom went AROUND all the leaves into a clearing and hiked through the deep leaves and other sticker bushes up to where I was trapped.   Yes I MIGHT have had a panic look on my face……yes I MIGHT have squeaked a little for her to help me…..yes she got scratched by the stickers as she pulled them out of the way so she could get me out……and I was so grateful let me tell you!    Poor Mom almost fell in the deep leaves though on the way out of there – but she had ME in her arms and she wasn’t gonna let go and managed to catch herself before she hurt herself (or me!).     See?   How’s THAT for a THANKFUL story this Thursday??!!

Now, onward to Part Two of today’s blog post and that’s presented by my Angel brother Sammy – it’s his THOROUGHLY POETIC THURSDAY day and he always emails via his Rainbow Bridge laptop a poem to share with all of you – based on the photo “inspiration” he gives us all the week before.   Every Thursday we have a new photo and we write a poem about the photo – what we see, feel, etc. when we look at the photo.   Those of you who are participating in this challenge are SO GOOD!    It’s so much fun to read your poems!

So without further delay, I give you the contents of Angel Sammy’s email !!

♥♥♥

Happy Thursday Poets!

Hope everyone is ready to share a poem with us today – I have mine written………..after I share my poem I’ll be visiting all of yours so be sure to leave a note in comments that you have one for us to see at your blog link OR write your poem in our comments – either way you do it is FINE.    We’ll be anxious to read what you “saw” when you looked at the photo I gave you last week.

Here’s the photo followed by my poem!

“Market Day”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell     April 11, 2018

Listen to the calls of the market sellers

Shoppers huddle under their wet umbrellas

Fresh, new produce right from the farms

Customers purchases in bags hang from their arms

The aromas all mingle in the open air

Smiles on faces are everywhere

The best of the best all on display

Who wouldn’t want to shop this way?

In a commercial grocery you never really know

Is everything fresh as the stamped on dates show???

It’s hard to know how old those lettuces are

It’s hard to tell if those oranges are up to par

You can’t always ask for a sample to taste

At the farmers market you know your money you won’t waste

An open air market with sellers who care

The bounty of the earth they are eager to share.

Farmer’s Markets are EVERYWHERE.    You are supporting your local farmers if you purchase there, you make friends with people who are proud to show off the fruits of their labor, you get the freshest food at the most reasonable prices.    Farmers can tell you if their food is TRULY organic vs. a sign at a grocery claiming that.    Anyway, my Mom and Dad always try to visit the markets when they travel.    A loaf of fresh bread and a chunk of fresh cheese makes a very good snack while walking through a city or hiking a hill.    This photo is a great example of the FEEL of market day just about anywhere on earth that you can find one.    The Farmers Market here in our small town is every Tuesday and Saturday.   You can find my Mom and Dad there.   You betcha!

I have another photo for you for NEXT Thursday…………your mission is to write a poem based on this photo………you know the drill – and I can’t wait to see what you write!

So good luck writing a poem for this one………………………….!   I’ll have mine ready to share with you next Thursday.   Until then, have a wonderful week…………..I’ll be watching you from the BRIDGE!!

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love and Hugs, Angel Sammy

Oh boy – I love the photo for next week.    Ought to be something to see what people write about that one………..scares me just looking at it!     See you all next week (or tomorrow!).

I love watching stuff come out of this machine!!

It’s Thursday!   Time for the THANKFUL blog hop Brian hosts at his blog AND for Angel Sammy’s poetry day.    First though let’s give some time to be THANKFUL.   If you want to join us, please click Brian’s badge and join in by filling out the LINKY tool.    It’s great to share our thankfuls every week.    This week I’m super thankful that the weather has been nice enough that I’d been able to go outside a LOT and it’s not even really NICE and Springy – but it’s NICER than winter weather so my parents have been taking me out more.   I love being in my yard……..I munch on grass (yes we actually have some coming up already!) and enjoy the sun on my furs (if the sun’s out of course otherwise I just ENJOY the fresh air).    Mom and Dad are positive I was an outdoor kitty before they adopted me – I love the great outdoors and actually enjoy the COLD.    I think that’s why they think maybe I was a barn cat or had a major outside connection.   I can’t give it up but at least I’m SAFE out there with my harness and leash on.

Now for the next part of today’s blog – Angel Sammy transmitted his POETIC THUSDAY poem to me via his internet connection at the Rainbow Bridge so I will show you that now!

♥♥♥

Hello Friends!   Ready for some poetry?

I hope some more of you have thought a little more about joining in our Poetry Challenge every week because it sure is FUN.    I didn’t have a lot of time to work on a poem this week because they are keeping us busy at the Bridge with Easter and Passover coming up……..we have a lot of ANGELIC duties to take care of you know.    BUT I did find some time and using the photo I gave you last week as your poetic inspiration, I crafted my poem based on this photo!

First of all – don’t you just LOVE this photo?   what a fabulous spot this would be to spend a summer afternoon…………all those beautiful tulips and petty green trees and grass????!!!!   Spread out a picnic blanket and VOILA – heavenly!    So here’s the poem I wrote to go with this photo.

“Happy Faces”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    March 28, 2018

Acres of blooms in gardens galore

Springtime is popping with flowers and more

Trees bud and shrubs grow and nature awakes

New growth needs warm breezes and all the sun it can take

Blooming flowers in colors from pastels to deep hue

Glistening in morning sun as it shines on the dew

Have you ever noticed when you see flowers that they make you smile?

It’s great to observe if you sit down in a garden for a while

People stop and point and smell the bouquet of  scent in the air

For a minute or an hour, you can forget all your cares

Get lost in the glory that comes from the flowers

Their beauty and color contain so much power

A garden of flowers is such a happy place

It’s for sure you will see more than one happy face!

Flowers are special – and you can’t look at a garden full of flowers without smiling at the wonder of the beauty of nature.   I used to go out in to my Mom’s garden when she had one in our backyard and just SIT…….I sometimes would lie down and squash some flowers accidentally (oops) and stay there for an hour – sometimes falling asleep while Mom pulled weeds or cut flowers all around me.   I just found it a happy place.   She doesn’t have a flower garden anymore but it’s a fond memory of mine.    I expect Teddy will enjoy being outside with Mom as she weeds her perennial bed (which is a lot less work to have!).

I hope you enjoyed my poem today and I bet when I read YOURS I will enjoy them too!    The tulip photo speaks to me of SPRING and EASTER and warm weather…………..what did the photo “tell” you when you looked at it?    If you wrote a poem, tell us you did in comments and give us your blog link so we can read it OR put your poem in our comments and SHARE.

Meanwhile, I have a photo for your NEXT WEEK’s poem inspiration……………can’t wait to see what you write for this one.

Our poetry challenge will be to write a poem about this photo – how does it make you feel?  What do you see and what do you think.    I will see the answers to those questions NEXT Thursday when we share our poetry!

Meanwhile, HAVE A WONDERFUL EASTER OR PASSOVER!

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Big Angelic Hugs from me to all of you!

Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy!   I love your poem today but then again I love all your poems.   I hope everyone else wrote one – it’s fun to see what people come up with.    Thanks for joining in the fun everybody.

Hello Friends!!    It’s Thursday and you know that means TWO goodies in one blog day for us.    We always started with our friend Brian who hosts “Thankful Thursday” blog hop because it’s just a GREAT way to start a day – focusing on what we are thankful for.   I look back at my week and come up with thankfuls – how about you?   Want to join the hop?  Click on Brian’s badge above and fill out the Linky form and you’ll be with us.

I am thankful this week that I am FINALLY feeling better.   I guess I haven’t talked much about it because I was pretending it wasn’t there (!) or that if I ignored it, it would go away.   But it didn’t………for well over two weeks I was not myself AT ALL.    I slept all the time, wouldn’t eat or drink much, but after several trips to the vet and blood work there seemed to be no REASON for it.   I did have one degree of fever but nothing else was showing up on any tests or in any exams I had.    I was prescribed what amounts to Kitty Advil (an anti-inflammatory) to take for three days though and I am a bit perkier after taking that.   Coming out of my funk slowly perhaps.   “Just one of those things” I suppose.    But know what?    I’m still THANKFUL that I feel better and am acting more like ME…….my Mom and Dad were worried about me.   Everyone was worried about me – EVEN I WAS WORRIED ABOUT ME!    So I am very thankful for improvement of my “mystery malaise”.

Thankful too that my brother didn’t let me down – he never has……..Angel Sammy sent his poem to me for “POETIC THURSDAY” and I’ll share with you now!

♥♥♥

Happy Thursday Poetry Fans!

It’s time to share the poems we wrote this past week inspired by the PHOTO I challenged you to write a poem about.    I hope you’re having fun with this project – I know I do and those of you who have participated so far obviously MUST have fun because your poetry is fabulous.   If you haven’t joined in, please do.   You just have to look at a photo prompt that I provide you and you have a whole week in which to do a poem based on what YOU “see” in the photo, or how it makes you feel……get creative with me!

Here’s the photo we wrote a poem about THIS week followed by MY poem – I can’t wait to read yours!    I thought this was a truly interesting photo of the biggest cave EVER………I thought it was super inspiring!

“Awesome”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    March 22, 2018

Just when we think we are ever so tall

That we’re mighty, and strong, and in charge of it all

We will see or experience something that shows

How little we observe and how little we know!

The majesty of nature is truly amazing

High cliffs, deep oceans, even caves are hair-raising!

The scope of their “grandness”, their beauty and size

Can move us so deeply, it brings tears to our eyes…..

Our world is so awesome and we need to take care

We don’t ruin all this beauty so in the future it’s still there.

Wildfires, clear cutting, and blasting through for roads

We ask so much of nature, it’s limit we overload……..

Inside this big cave, so dark, quiet and full of power

We may be small but must defend this beauty until the final hour…………

There were so many things this photo made me feel it was hard to single one thing out so I made it about more than one thing……………but the true awesomeness of nature is something we must not take for granted.    Maybe we will all live on other planets one day but for the HERE AND NOW we must take care of this beautiful blue planet we live on.

If you wrote a poem today from this same photo – please tell us about it in comments!   Give us a link where we can read it – enjoy it…………OR show us your poem in comments – write it out and share.

I have another photo for you for next week…………..you have all week to look at it and think about it and decide what you want to write about!    Ready?

Spring?    We hope it gets EVERYWHERE soon!

See you all next week…………..thank you for having fun with some poetry along with me every week…………………………….It makes me HAPPY!

Love, Your Angel Poet Sammy

Is it Thursday already?    My Mom is always talking about how QUICKLY she thinks time passes – I say it doesn’t pass fast enough but then I’m a little kid and she isn’t.    Well whether it’s passed fast or slow it’s still time to be THANKFUL as we are every Thursday with our buddy Brian – and if you click his badge above you know what will happen?   You will be transported to his blog where you can join in the Blog Hop where we are thankful too!

This week I’m thankful that even though it was cold cold cold out, my Mom and Dad indulged me and let me go outside and lie on the front porch in the sunshine.  Of course they were WITH me and I had on my leash and harness but I WAS outside and I did get some fresh air.   It was quite cold but nice.   I am also thankful that in spite of places all around us getting snow – we didn’t!

I’m always thankful as well when I get my weekly email from my brother Angel Sammy at the Bridge containing his poem for his Poetry Challenge.    Yep – I got it last night and here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Greetings from the Rainbow Bridge!

It’s another Thursday and time for us to share the poems we wrote during this past week using the photo I gave you as inspiration………….sure is fun doing this don’t you think?    If you’ve joined us before you know the deal…….I give you a photo each week and you write a poem about the photo:  how it makes you feel, what it makes you think, a funny story it reminds you of, WHATEVER inspiration you get, you write.   Easy?  Well for some people I guess it isn’t easy but really ANYONE can write a poem – just do it.     If you wrote one, me sure to put your blog link in our comments here OR write your poem out in our comments – either way we can read and share!

Here’s the photo that was our inspiration for this past week, followed by my poem:

“Overwhelmed”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    March 14, 2018

Panic begins, breathing in gulps, hearts beat fast,

Fear grips the mind and you hope it won’t last….

Being afraid, scared, or worried is just not fun

You’d much rather be on a beach in the sun!

When life is a mess or it seems to be so

It’s hard to relax and just let things go

The feelings of doubt, of sadness, or regret

Can seem like a wave that’s as big as it gets……..

A tsunami of fear that’s pulling you under

“Will I survive?”, you can’t help but wonder.

The WILL to go on can get you through doubt

When you break through that wave you’ll just want to shout

“I’m still here, I got through it, and I’m still alive…..

I’ll be stronger next time because I want to SURVIVE!”

Even though I am at the Bridge now I listen to everything my Mom says……..and this past week she talked a lot about “worry”……..and how easy it is for people to get overwhelmed by worry.    THAT was the inspiration for me this week along with this incredible photograph of a SURFER on a wave bigger than BIG – in fact it’s truly a tsunami-sized wave.    I’m sure it’s a thrill to surf and manage to come up for air after riding a wave like that BUT it’s not something I’d do that’s for sure!    When I found that photo I couldn’t believe it was real but I investigated it, and it is.    In fact, if you google “gigantic waves” you’ll see other HUGE waves…….

Now, for NEXT week’s poem photo challenge, I have a photo to give you and you have a whole week to think about it and write a poem about the photo!   Ready?

Talk about a pawsome campsite huh?   Well, it is just a huge cave in a jungle but it does STIR the imagination!    That’s what it’s supposed to do.    I hope you’ll write a poem to share with us NEXT week…………..about what you feel when you look at this photo.

Now it’s time for me to say goodbye……….I have duties to attend to you know.    Lots of them.    I don’t just lie on a cloud and float around all day you know!    I’ll see you soon……maybe in your dreams…………

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy!    I like next week’s photo – looks like a spot where Cat Scouts should go camping.   So we’ll see you next Thursday everyone?    Have a good week and a Happy St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday.

From Me to all of YOU!

Is it Thursday already?  Yep it is……..time to talk about being Thankful – which I am and always will be.     If you are wanting to talk about how thankful you are just join in the Thankful Hop hosted by Brian – simply click the badge above and go sign up!

I’m thankful that we did NOT get snow from either of the weather systems that caused havoc north of us…………what we DID get was tons of wind – powerful wind – lots of our neighbors lost shingles, siding and trees…….we lost ONE big oak down in our woods, and had a lot of “little stuff” to clean up out of the yard.   So I’m THANKFUL too that we didn’t have damage to the house.

My Mom is thankful that she won a contest at The Evil Squirrel’s Nest blog………there were three random pictures posted and the project was to write something, draw something, or otherwise somehow make a cohesive story or whatever out of the three photos.    Someone else won the actual competition but Mom was in the draw for the “random winner” and her number was picked!  So she has a new badge on our website from the Squirrel.    YAY for Mom!    This was her entry HERE.

Now the second part of our Thursday post is always what I get from my Angel brother Sammy who sends in his Photo Poetry Challenge via email from the Rainbow Bridge – this week of course he didn’t let any of us down – I got his poem and I’m sharing the email I got from him courtesy of “Rainbow Wi-Fi” below!

♥♥♥

Hello Friends and Fellow Poets (or Readers!)   Time to share a poem!!

We were watching from the Rainbow Bridge as many of you had yucky weather to deal with – you know we have no influence over the weather but we were hoping everyone would be alright and thank heavens most of you were.    We only have gentle breezes and sunshiny days at the Bridge you know – we are lucky but then the price we pay for that beauty is having to be physically apart from our beloved families…………we are ALWAYS with you in spirit though!!

Here is the photo I gave you LAST week to use as your “inspiration” for this week’s photo poetry……………….I hope you were able to find time to write a poem inspired by this wacky little photo???   If you did, please share your blog link to your poem in my comments here OR write your poem IN our comments.   We’d love to see if you had as much fun as I did with this photo.

“Capturing Humans”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell, March 7, 2018

A professional photographer is my job at the zoo

I use my camera to take photos of you!

I try to take photos of things fascinating

Like groups of loud humans congregating

They move in herds or occasionally alone

They usually have a thing on one ear they call “phone”

They chatter away with their group like WE do

They giggle and point when they come to our zoo

They don’t seem to notice that we find them amusing

They do funny things that we find so confusing!

They have something we don’t – why can’t they see?

They can roam at will……..and we LONG to be free.

Sometimes it makes us sad that so many animals are in cages but zoos are doing a better job of giving animals in captivity more natural habitats AND because endangered animals are taken care of in zoos, they are PROTECTED !     That’s a GOOD thing!    But still I wonder how many of them see humans roaming freely and wish they could do that.   Probably more than we will ever know……………………..Now did you write a poem this week?   If not, I hope you will consider doing one next week – you can write one – I know you can.

Here’s next week’s inspirational photo……………I bet you can do something with this one – we’ll compare poems next week OK?    It’s a deal……………………

This one will be interesting………

So I will see you here next week on Thursday…………..I’ll be anxious to read your poems……………..C’mon now don’t let me down!    Meanwhile know that I am watching out for all of you – my friends – from the Rainbow Bridge.

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

First Up:  Thankful Thursday with Brian

Is it Thursday already?   Where does time go?   I’m just a little guy – not even two years old yet – but time really does fly by just like my Mom and Dad are always saying.    Once a week we gather together on Brian’s Blog Hop though no matter HOW quickly Thursdays come, in order to share what we are THANKFUL for.    You can join in if you like – just click his badge above and enter by using the LINKY tool.   Share an share alike right?

What am I thankful for this week?   You might think this is a weird thankful but I truly am thankful that we had some SPRING in the middle of Winter.    We had several days in the 60s and one that made it to 70!    What’s with that??   It was really great because I whined at the front door three or four times and got a passing human to put my harness on me and take me outside for a little bit of DIRT TIME.    Instead of frozen ground I found some nice loose dirt in Mom’s front garden and before she could get me OUT of there I managed to hop/dig/roll around to my heart’s content!    Just like a little piggy (Bacon my friend sorry about that!).    Mom brushed me off and of course when I got inside I got my feets (all four of them) washed with a cloth which I didn’t like but it was SOOOO worth it.   It was Spring for a little while…………..we are now back to the 30s and 40s so I’ll have to wait a few months for more DIRT.

I’m also thankful Angel Sammy didn’t let me down this week and transmitted his Poetic Thursday poem to me last night from the Rainbow Bridge.    He says he will never let me down and I believe it!   Here’s what he sent:

♥♥♥♥

Hello Poetry Fans!   It’s Thursday and time to share some poetry………

Each Thursday we share our poem that we’ve written based on a photo that I give you the previous week………….you have a whole week to think about the photo and figure out what it’s saying to you and what words it inspires you to write for your poem!    Maybe a feeling you get, or a memory you have, or just an impression formed by staring at the photo for a little while.    Those of you who are participating in this every week are doing a GREAT job so far and I hope that maybe YOU (yes YOU!) will join in this week by sharing a poem about this photo from last week:

You know, poetry doesn’t even have to rhyme – it can be freeform and different – just a collection of thoughts – I know that when you look at a photo you have certain feelings that come forward so why not put them down on paper??   Then share them with us!     Here’s my poem for this photo:

“Purely Happy”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell, January 24, 2018

A bond with a pet is so warm and so true

The trust we share as best friends – ME and YOU

We don’t ask you why or when or how

We just live in the moment and the moment is now….

We give you our hearts and you give us your love

It’s a match made in heaven AND the “Bridge” up above.

We all need a friend who is our safe place to fall

To run to with happiness when our name they do call

When our eyes meet we know that the love is right there

We know with no doubt that we will ALWAYS care

One day we will know that it’s time for goodbye

With reluctance we accept with a tear in our eye

We will meet up again like we were never apart

For pets and their people are JOINED AT THE HEART……….

If you wrote a poem today about that cute photo of the child and pup, please share it with us – tell us in comments that you have a poem for us to read – give us your blog link so we can visit you OR if you prefer, write your poem in our comments and we’ll see it here and now!

Here’s your “inspirational photo” for next week…………..let’s see what we can all do with this one when it comes to writing a poem shall we?   YAY!

I like this one………………………..all sorts of things come to mind (including me prowling around looking for mice!).    So, how about it – join me next week in writing a poem?    I promise once you try you will be hooked……………honest.

I’ll be waiting for you next Thursday with my “oh so very French” beret – perfect for writing poetry oui????

Thanks Angel Sammy.    I love that photo of the kid with the pup and I like the one for next week too.    Thanks for never ever letting me down either – you always get your poem to me in time to share on Thursdays.

Thursday’s here!    Time to be Thankful “out loud” by joining Brian’s Blog Hop.   If you haven’t joined, please do – it’s easy – click the badge above and fill out the LINKY form.   Then you can share with everyone what you are thankful for this week.    For me, I’m especially thankful that it was not TOOOO cold to go outside for a little walk with Mom.   Yesterday it got to 50!    I was one happy cat.   Mom put my harness and leash on and out we went for a whole 20 minutes!     I had a good sniff around, ate some grass and checked on all my favorite spots out there.    I will be happy when it’s Spring and I can explore more of the yard.   I miss it!

I’m also thankful that wi-fi service continues to be excellent from the Rainbow Bridge because Angel Sammy is able to transmit his Thursday Poem to me so I can share it with you.    Remember we’re doing photo poetry now – not alphabet – and the photos have people REALLY coming up with some very cool poems.    You just look at the photo that Angel Sammy gives us each week and write a poem about whatever it makes you see/feel/think about.    Everyone will have a different idea from the photo.    FUN right?

It’s Poetic Thursday!

Hello friends!    Time to share our poems for this week.    I hope you liked the photo prompt I gave you last week – you’ve had seven whole days to study the photo and see what it has to say to your heart and soul and what it’s inspiring you to write………..we all get different impressions from photos we see……….what did you see in this one which is the prompt for this week??

Here’s my poem………….I hope you like it!

“Careful Leap of Faith”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, January 10, 2018

Sometimes new things can be a little scary

Our bodies tell us to “watch out” and be a little wary

That’s a little safety valve that all of us possess

To keep us from going too far out and making a big mess!

To keep us from growing up too fast and taking too many chances

To think before taking a new job, or buying a new car or starting new romances!

A little caution is a very good thing especially when you’re young

Too much bravado isn’t good – some songs should stay unsung!

Baby steps are much more safe and sing a softer tune

Don’t be in such a great big hurry to grow up WAY too soon!

Trust that there are those who care and help you on your way

Just know that something that’s worth doing doesn’t HAVE to be done today.

Ta Da!   That’s my thought from that cute picture of the little boy and his Dad or big brother at the seashore………………my Mom says she can remember being little and letting the waves touch her toes and running away – it took her a while to trust that she could go up to her ankles, then her knees, then – well THEN she had swimming lessons.   HAHAHA    Did you write a poem?    I hope you will share it with us – tell us in comments you wrote one and give us your link so we can visit and read it……….OR put your poem in our comments.    But give poetry a try either way – you CAN write a poem – the best thing about poetry is it doesn’t have to rhyme and it gives you a chance to express yourself!

Now would you like to see the photo I’m giving you for next week?

I bet you’ll have fun with this one and we’ll find out how you did and how I did NEXT THURSDAY on Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday………so – is it a date?    Good!

I’ll see you then!

I will be here wearing my poetic French beret!! Oui Oui!

Love, Angel Sammy

Oh I think that photo for next week is gonna be a good one!   Who knows – maybe I’ll get brave and write a poem too.

Here we are starting a brand new year.    My Mom said she can remember going to see the movie “2001 A Space Oddessy”  and thinking how silly things were projected to be in 2001.   Here we are well beyond that and the world certainly has changed but is it better or worse or “we need to work on it” ??   LOL    Anyway, I’m thankful to be starting a new year and having my first FULL year in my forever home.   I’ll also turn TWO this March and that will be something to be thankful for.   We don’t know what my history was prior to my adoption but something tells me THIS LIFE is better than what it could have been that’s for sure – so I AM THANKFUL     We are also very thankful for all of you.    We love having you stop by our blog for some fun.    Just like we LOVE coming to Brian’s on Thursday to share “THANKFULS” !    If you’d like to join us in this blog hop full of thankful things, just click their badge above and join in the fun!

The new year started with my brother Angel Sammy’s birthday on January 1st…………yes he’s no longer here but we still celebrate his birthday in our hearts – he would have been 18.    He’s still plugging away on his computer on Wednesdays though preparing to send me his poetic challenge by Wednesday night so I can share it with you on Thursdays.    Are you ready?    As you may remember, we aren’t doing an alphabetic poetic challenge – this year Angel Sammy is doing a PHOTOGRAPHIC poetic challenge.   It’s turning out to be a lot of fun.  Feel free to join in.

Here’s Angel Sammy’s email to me from last night:

Happy New Year Fellow Poets!

It was a celebration at the Rainbow Bridge for us on New Year’s Eve just as it was for all of you “back home”…………..we know you miss us as much as we miss you but we still are in contact with you and still watch over all of you with love until the day we see you again!

I gave you a totally interesting photo last week for you to use to write your poetic photo challenge for today………….AND a lot of you wrote to us to ask us for more information on the photo.    We did some research and have a link for you to follow to find out the “back story” on this amazing stone wall.    Here’s the photo challenge for this week’s poem along with the link:

It’s a lovely story about this wall and who built it and why…………………..just CLICK HERE to read it.

Now here is MY poem that I wrote for this most inspiring stone wall photograph and I hope you will share yours with all of us either by giving us your blog link to follow and read your poem OR just write your poem in our comments here – we’d LOVE to read what your thoughts about this photograph are!!

“Strength”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, January 3, 2018

Walls are built for many reasons

They’re built to last for endless seasons

Each stone placed right next to his brother

A perfect spot to lean on each other

Then from the center a mighty tree grows

Adding its’ own strength to the stones in such neat little rows.

The wall is so strong with the tree as its’ “lock”

The tree is the center made of beautiful, solid rock.

A wall is like our faith, standing straight, hard and true

Let your faith be that strong and its’ strength will carry you.

I hope you’ve written a poem too and I also hope you will share it if you have………………I’d also encourage you to follow the link I gave you to the story of this wall photo.   When we found the photo we had NO IDEA what its’ story was but we were glad that we were able to find out – it’s a lovely story indeed.

Now it’s time to give you your “photo poetry” inspiration for NEXT Thursday – ready?     This is the photo you and I will write a poem about for NEXT week:

That’s about it for another Thursday my friends…………..I hope to see you here next Thursday and we’ll share some poetry and visit with each other.    YES I’m staying busy at the Rainbow Bridge but I’m never too busy to spend Thursday with you……………….never – EVER!

‘Tis I ! Angel Sammy, zeeee French poet!!!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thank you Sammy!   I love that tree wall and the story behind it.    And I LOVE YOU TOO!!!!!    See you next week……………….

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Time to be Thankful and then for us to see what poem Angel Sammy came up with for his Poetic Photo Thursday!    Want to join in this special Hop hosted by Brian?   Just click on the badge above and join in – we would love to hear from you!   As for my own Thankfuls this week – well I think all of us probably are most thankful for family and time together for the holidays.   I know I feel that way – my first Christmas with my Mom and Dad was wonderful……………I paid little attention to presents – mostly I just wanted to be NEAR the Christmas tree where I’ve enjoyed lots of pre-Christmas naps under the tree……….now all the presents are gone I have all that space for myself – but I have this feeling my beloved tree is going to be disappearing soon!    Still I’m thankful that I know what Christmas is about and it’s not gifts – it’s about love.

Angel Sammy transmitted his poem to me last night – he did miss having Christmas here this year but then it was BEFORE Christmas last year that he went to the Bridge so this is his second “missed” Christmas.    We certainly thought about him on December 2nd – I never met him but I “know” him because we cats are brothers and sisters of one big family………….and we know that one day we will all be at the Bridge together.

Here’s Angel Sammy’s poem………….

It’s Time For Poetic Thursday!

Hello my friends!   As my little brother Teddy has already said – we all hope your holiday was bright and beautiful.    It’s always bright and beautiful at the Rainbow Bridge but those of us who are Angels wish we could be with our families in purrrrson instead of in spirit when it comes to special occasions like holidays.

Did you write a poem this week to share with us?    We have been doing PHOTO-inspired poems instead of using the alphabet – I hope you’re having fun with that.    This was the photo I gave you last week to think about and write a poem about – followed by MY poetic thought about it!

“A New Start”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell, Dec. 28, 2017

In the dark night sky the colors are bright

They light up our hearts as they light up the night

They signal the start of a brand new year

Their bold colors pop as their sound fills our ears

The world full of hope that perhaps a new start

A new year might just bring some peace in our hearts

It sometimes seems like peace is so far away

Perhaps it will come closer if we hope and we pray

It must overcome the ache of the losses we feel

It must conquer threats from others so real

In a world full of doubt that real peace can be reached

Let LOVE be the way for those fences to be breached.

I think everyone would like for the new year to bring a new start – let’s make sure it is one!    We Angels promise to work overtime to help…………… ♥

I’m hoping you will share your poem this week by giving us notice in our comments here that you have a poem written for us to read – just give us your link OR you can even write your poem in our comments…………just give it a try……….so many people have said “I can’t write poetry” but when I ask them to try to express their thoughts about a photo or a word they CAN.    You know what?  We truly CAN do anything including write a poem.    Here’s my photo for you to think about this coming week – then next Thursday we will all share again!   Just think it will be 2018 then.  WOW.

Oh I think this one will be FUN!

I hope to see you here again next Thursday with a poem about this photo – what does this make you think of, feel, what do you see, WANT to see………use your imagination and write a poem!

‘Tis I ! Angel Sammy, zeeee French poet!!!

Until next week, Angel Sammy signing off from the Bridge……..with hugs!

Thanks a lot Angel Sammy………….I like your poem today but I can’t WAIT to see what you come up with for NEXT week!

Sammy was a party animal!

Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Yes – we are Thankful!

First of all thanks to Brian for being our host every single week…………everyone seems to have a lot to share so it’s a great Blog Hop and gives us a chance to say how thankful we are OUT LOUD.   My Mom and Dad were talking about how thankful they are to have ME here this Christmas since last Christmas they were so very sad because Angel Sammy had just gone to the Bridge on December 2 last year.   This year they have ME and I am keeping them ship shape around here.    I play a whole lot with my Mom – she’s the best toy I have (hahaha).

I’m also thankful that we are starting a new and FUN Photo Challenge every week on Thursday with Angel Sammy.    Last week he gave everyone a photo to write a poem about and today we’ll see what you all were able to do with the photo which was rather unusual!    Many of you knew what kind of clouds are in the photo – they are MAMMATUS clouds!    Angel Sammy just thought they might spur everyone’s imagination and perhaps even some of you who haven’t written a poem before MIGHT write one about this unusual sky.

I received Angel Sammy’s poem bright and early this morning so apparently the wi-fi connection at the Bridge is still in fine shape even though this is a busy time of the year not just for US but for Angels too!   Here’s what he sent to us……………..

♥♥♥♥

Greetings from the Bridge my friends!

I am hoping that all of you who have been such loyal poets throughout our several trips through the alphabet on Thursdays will stick with me on this NEWEST challenge – it may be harder or maybe you will find it easier – but it WILL be fun.    Someone asked me if you could use ANY photo if you couldn’t come up with a poem about the one I give you each week.    I’m hoping that you will use MY photo……………..if we find that people just are at a loss as to what to write, we’ll change the rules but let’s all give this a try first shall we???    The deal is to study the photo I give you and come up with a poem about what feelings you get from looking at the photo, or what it LOOKS like, or makes you think about, etc.    I’ll try and give you interesting photos I promise.   Remember that poems can be short or long, can rhyme or not rhyme – the fun part is just letting your imagination FREE……………

“Santa’s Beard”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, Dec. 14, 2017

What I see is Santa’s beard

Maybe you think that’s just plain weird

His beard is just like that – or so I’ve been told

It’s white, soft,  and long because Santa is old!

His beard is fluffy and soft and oh so clear

I bet he visits at night to watch us – to listen and hear……

How else could he know if we’re naughty or nice?

He needs to know for sure so he checks his list twice!

I’m sure that this photo was not meant to be viewed

If his elves who do the list knew, there’ be quite a feud!

If one night you are simply unable to sleep

Out into your yard in your robe you should creep

If it’s just before Christmas and you look up in the sky

You might see his beard as he leans down to spy!

Run back to your bed, and close your eyes real tight

So he will for sure know you’re GOOD and he’ll come Christmas night!

HAHA – that was fun.    Now it’s YOUR turn……………..if you wrote a poem about the photo, please tell us you did in our comments – you can give us your blog link to your poem OR even write your poem in the comments.   We hope you had fun with this because I sure did.

Are you ready for NEXT Thursday’s inspirational photo????    This is the photo we will write a poem about NEXT Thursday………..I hope you will join me again……….poetry is FUN!

Now that ought to spur your imagination!!!    I will look forward to seeing you all NEXT week – the Thursday before Christmas……………….and speaking of Christmas, here’s a Christmas card from me at the Bridge to all of you!

Love to all of you, Angel Sammy

‘Tis I ! Angel Sammy, zeeee French poet!!!

So we will both see you next week – give poetry a try – I know it would make Angel Sammy very proud of you if you do!
