Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

It’s Double Bubble Blog Post Day!

Thankful Thursday AND Poetic Thursday too…..

Thankful Thursday is hosted by my friend Brian and it’s our chance to let the world know all the things we’re thankful for.   I look back at my week and remember all the thankfuls and share them here – you can too if you click on their badge and use the LINKY TOOL to join in the thankfulness.

I’m thankful that my Mom got her little skin surgery taken care of yesterday with no problem – my Mom has more than a “passing” relationship unfortunately with The Evil C……skin cancer is so easy to take care of when caught early and Mom’s an early bird.    She will have more surgery next month but for now – all is well.    I am taking good care of her post-surgery believe me.   I didn’t even make her take me outside for walks when she got home yesterday OR this morning – Dad is on “TEDDY DUTY” !!!

As for my other thankful – it’s the usual – what’s the usual?   The usual is that I got an email from Angel Sammy with this week’s poem and NEXT week’s photo inspiration.   He just never, EVER lets us down does he?!    Below is his email to all of us:

♥♥♥

Hello Fellow Poets and Fans of Poetry!

It’s time for our usual Thursday gathering – sharing our poems we wrote this past week of course based on the “photographic inspiration” that I give you on Thursdays for you to think about.    I know more than a few of you wondered WHY I was giving you another monkey photo for this week when not that long ago I gave you the “monkey with the camera” photo.   Well, monkeys are pretty interesting little characters with such expressive faces – and they give me ideas for fun poetry and I sort of thought they might do that for you too.   That’s why this was your inspiration this week:

I think this is a great photo……………these two are totally enjoying that wedge of watermelon.  I love the one guy taking a taste and I’m guessing the other one has just taken a chunk out of the top!   So many animals enjoy watermelon – bears, elephants, just about EVERYONE loves it.    Anyway, here’s my poem based on this photograph AND after my poem I’ll give you a photo for NEXT week.   You have a week to come up with a poem of any type to share with all of us.   YOU CAN DO IT.

“Summertime Treats”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell       August 16, 2018

On a hot summer day when your energy is low

I recommend off to your refrigerator you should go

Hopefully inside you’ll find a treasure

Which will benefit you in ways you cannot measure!

A nice cold watermelon hopefully is there

Just slice it with your knife – be sure to take care!

The pink goodness is juicy and sweet as can be

All feelings of discomfort from the heat will flee!

Each bite is delicious and better than the last

It also reminds us of summer days of the past

Playing in the sprinkler and giggling with glee

Mom brings out the watermelon and sets the FUN free!

All manner of humans and animals alike

Agree that watermelon is BEYOND a delight…………….

(put it on your Mom’s grocery list after reading this poem!)

◊♦◊

That’s my little ode to watermelon and these two little guys who are happily devouring their summertime treat totally inspired me.    Now I’m going to give you what I hope will be an inspiring photograph for all of you for NEXT Thursday.   If you wrote a  poem for this week like I did above, just tell us in comments that you did and give us your link so we can visit and read it ASAP!

Here’s your inspiration:

Oh boy – this one ought to be fun right?    Good luck – remember, if you think you can’t write a poem -you’re WRONG.   Just let your imagination take you away – poems don’t even have to rhyme – they are just our thoughts on paper!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Have some fun with poetry…..see you next Thursday!  LOVE, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy………………I really look forward to hearing from you every week and reading the poem you have written…………..I also love everyone else’s poems.    Make sure and let us know if you wrote one so we can read it!!

Happy Thursday Friends…..Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

It’s Double Post Day For Me!  THANKFUL and POETIC all in one!

First up today I want to join Brian’s THANKFUL THURSDAY Hop.   You can too in fact if you click his badge and fill out the LINKY FORM – you can become part of this fun Hop where we tell the world what we are thankful for.    For one thing I’m thankful to have heard that the two kitties you were trying to help find a FOREVER for – Pingo and Polo – are in fact fine and have a new home so they will be safe.   Thank heavens for people who step up and help in times like this.   We hope you will give us all the details Brian but we heard things were OK for the boys and that TRULY made me more thankful than I can say.    I’m also thankful that my Mom and Dad are being so patient with me as I try out my newest method of trying to stay outside LONGER than they want me to.   What am I talking about?   Well as you all know I go out only on a harness and leash and only if one or both of my parents are with me snoopervising.   Sometimes they will let me just go under my little garden tree and SIT – without them holding my leash.   I’ll stay there for 15-20 minutes or MORE while they sit close by on the front porch.    If they decide they want to come in before I’m ready to come in I will NOT NOT NOT NOT mind my Mom when she calls me to come out from under my tree.   NO I WILL NOT.   In fact, when she reaches under to get my leash I go LIMP.   TOTALLY LIMP.   A twenty pound totally limp cat weighs at least twice that (hahahahahaha).   I don’t cooperate in the slightest and in fact I WHINE like a little kid when she pulls on my leash and lie there like a limp dishrag.   Sooner or later she (or Dad) has to crawl on the dirt to get to me under the little tree (not easy for two old people!) and even then it’s a real PAIN to try to pick my 20 lbs. of LIMP up and carry me up to the front door.   YES I’M BEING STUBBORN.    It’s what I am.   (insert evil giggle here).

I’m thankful Angel Sammy didn’t let me or you down because I did hear from him overnight with his poem and message for today so TAKE IT AWAY ANGEL SAMMY!

♥♥♥

Hello Friends!  It’s time for poetry!

I look forward to Thursdays because I really do love playing this game we play with me giving you a photo and a week to study the photo and figure out what kind of poem you will write to share today with everyone.   I have to be honest – I usually write my poem at the last minute – just before I transmit it from my laptop via wifi at the Bridge down to Teddy.    I do better with “top of my head” poem writing.   I think I got that from my Mom.   When she was writing her mystery novel some years ago that’s how she wrote it – top of the head with no prior plan – just WHATEVER FELT RIGHT.   I hope you are joining in the fun and you have a way that works for you when writing a poem!    Just remember to share with us – in our comments with your link OR your poem itself.

Here’s the photo I gave you last week to write about and share today:

I just love this artwork.   My Mom says she and her brother would hop in a rain puddle no matter whether they had raincoats and boots on or not.   It was just what kids did.   The puddle calls to you and you OBEY!    This little boy (or girl) in the photo is having a blast.   Puddles are made for that.   Here’s my poem based on this photo:

“Puddle Dancing”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell      August 8, 2018

Off the school bus and heading home

Short way to the house no time to roam

Raining heavy, umbrella like a bubble

Puddles everywhere – I’m gonna get in trouble!

The “call” of a puddle is something all kids hear

“Jump in me!”, “Splash in me!”, their words are quite clear!

The bigger the splash, the bigger the mess

I know when I get home, I’ll have to confess

Puddles and mud spell trouble AND fun

After I’ve made a huge mess, home I will run

But until I’m satisfied that I’ve made the BIGGEST splash

I’ll stay here and play then run home like a flash!

When Mom opens the door with her hands on her hips

I’ll give her sorry eyes and a kiss for cheek or lips

Then she’ll tell me the story about when she was small

Each puddle she’d pass would be tempting and CALL

“Come here little girl – “Jump in me – I insist!!!”

Because puddles back then AND now are impossible to resist!!!

I used to absolutely love playing in puddles after a rainstorm when I lived at home before coming to the Bridge.   First thing after a rain storm out I’d go and I’d make sure and visit every puddle – sometimes have a slurp of water – and if worms were in the puddle OH BOY did I have extra fun!    Teddy is different – he goes AROUND puddles.   He loves mud but not crazy about puddles.   HAHAHA    I think Mom would prefer him getting WET to getting MUDDY!

Now did you write a poem?  I hope you did but if you didn’t – I have a NEW photo to inspire you for next week so PLEASE think about joining in the fun and write a poem – YOU CAN DO IT!

FUN?   I think so……………………..everybody loves watermelon on a hot day right?     OK – that’s your photo for next week………..think about it then write your poem and share it next Thursday!    Until then remember Angels are watching out for you……………..it’s what we do now we are at the Rainbow Bridge!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thank you Angel Sammy……..your poem was fun and you’re right about puddles – you loved them and I’m more of a mud/dirt kind of guy.    One thing we have in common among many things though is that we both love that our Mom and Dad kept a watchful eye over us when we were outside.   It can be dangerous outside……..but I do love it like you did!

Hugs, Teddy

It’s Double Blog Day – THANKFUL Thursday and

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

First up – Thankful!

Thursday is our chance to share what we’re thankful for courtesy of our host Brian – we hop on board and tell each other our “thankfuls” !   If you’d like to join us, PLEASE do – all you have to do is click Brian’s badge and join in the fun.

I am thankful ALWAYS for the usual things like a happy family and a wonderful home, but I usually have a little something else to be thankful for and today I have a “silly” sort of thankful because today, I, Teddy Kimmell (Butter Bean), caught my VERY FIRST skink!    What’s a skink?

One of these guys and we have them around our house and in our garden (never IN our house though!).    They will sneak in the garage when the door is up and one of my favorite territories to prowl about in is my garage.   In fact, it’s my favorite nap spot too since my hammock is in one of the garage windows!   ANYWAY, Mom and Dad thought I was being awfully strange earlier today when they were calling me to come in from the garage so they could take me out for a walkabout in the yard on my harness.   I wouldn’t BUDGE from under Mom’s car.    Dad got down on the floor of the garage and saw me under there with a dead skink and I was NOT going to give up my treasure!   No no no………and Mom didn’t want to take a photo of the poor little skink so you’ll just have to take my word for it – I’m two years old and this was a FIRST success at hunting.    I am a mighty hunter……………..

Now, I must say that I am also thankful that my Angel brother Sammy got his email sent last night so I received his poem for today.    I always worry that wi-fi might not be working up at the Rainbow Bridge an he won’t get his poem to me in time but he’s never let me down!    Here’s what I received from him:

♥♥♥

Greetings from the Bridge!  It’s time for poetry!

Happy Thursday everyone.   I hope you are joining us today to share a poem you wrote based on the photo that I gave you last week to use as inspiration………but even if you didn’t write one – you can enjoy visiting everyone who has written one – they will be leaving comments in our blog comment area that they have with a link to their poem.  Check them out – we have some GREAT poets here in the blogosphere!    If you’ve not joined in please do – just use the photo I provide to give you some ideas of what to write your poem about……photos can bring all kinds of inspiration.   Every week we gather on Thursday and I share the poem I’ve written and also give you a new photograph to use as your poetic inspiration for NEXT Thursday.    Fun?  You betcha.

Here’s the photo I gave you last Thursday to use for this week………….and then my poem follows.

“Riding in Style”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell      August 2, 2018

Years ago when railroading was king

Luxurious trains traveled on rails that would sing

The muffled sounds heralded a luxurious ride

The passengers on board were full of pride

Timetables were met and compartments were clean

Luxury ’round every corner fit for the Queen.

Meals prepared by chefs, valets at beck and call

Train life was perfect for one and all.

Books have been written about the romance of the rails

Mystery and intrigue were among all the tales

“Murder on the Orient Express” is a memorable mystery

A favorite mystery read that’s been popular through history.

I just daydream about a ride on a beautiful train such as that…..

And wonder if perhaps they would welcome on board a CAT ???

I think riding on one of those luxury trains would be FUN – my Mom and Dad thought about doing that back many years ago when they planned their honeymoon.   They settled for getting Eurrail passes and doing their travel through Europe on their honeymoon on “regular” trains as it was a little expensive on the Orient Express.   I wonder if they allow pets????   Probably – I mean who’s going to tell some rich person they can’t bring their beloved pup or kitty on board?????

Anyway, let’s get down to the material to inspire you for NEXT week……………I picked out a photo that might give you some fun when you write your poem to share next Thursday!

Fun huh?

Please join in our fun – give it a try – write a poem based on what you see in the above photo or what you feel when you look at it.    Trust me – you’ll have some fun with it.    Until then, I will remind you again that those of us at the Rainbow Bridge are looking out for you every minute of the day………we have some recent arrivals here – if you have had to say farewell to your beloved pet, know they are happy and healthy now and with you ALWAYS.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy…………..I liked your poem this week.  I sure would like to ride on a beautiful train and have some adventure………..until then, I guess I’ll just have to hope that Mom doesn’t make me give up my prize skink.    Actually, maybe I should let her have it.    It’s now at the Rainbow Bridge thanks to ME.

See you all next week with another poem from Angel Sammy AND to read YOUR poems too!

Until then…….I’ll snooze!

Hugs, Teddy

An urgent P.S.

We were just at Brian’s Home Blog linking up our Thankful and Poetic post for today when we read the story of these two kitties named Pingo and Polo in South Carolina who are in desperate need of a home.    This is a story we’ve all heard before but it’s so compelling we just had to share with you……….if anyone can help of course Brian would want to know ASAP.     CLICK HERE

It’s Two Hop Thursday – Thankful Thursday and Poetic Thursday all in one!

We will start with THANKFUL Thursday.    This week we’re THANKFUL that Brian, our good buddy who hosts Thankful Thursday, is keeping the Thursday tradition going even in the midst of some other scheduling changes on their blog.   We have been thinking about changing some things up too but haven’t instituted any changes yet.   Brian has, but here on Thursdays we will still be thankful together.   If you’d like to be thankful in public (!) – click the link above and join us over at Brian’s.   BUT FOR NOW BRIAN, THANK YOU FOR HOSTING THANKFUL THURSDAY!

I am of course always thankful that Angel Sammy is able to join us through the magic of his wi-fi connection from the Rainbow Bridge because he’s always written a poem for us on Thursday and encouraged all of us to join in that fun by writing one yourself based on a photo he gives us all every week – – – – a photo that’s meant to inspire you to write a poem based on the photo!    Well, he’s sent his email – I got it last night and I’d like to share it with all of you!

♥♥♥

Happy Thursday Friends!  It’s time for a poem!

Glad to be with you to read and write a little poetry today everybody.   I hope maybe this week you decided to use last week’s photo and write a poem to join in our fun.   This Hop is designed to get you to stretch your creativity a little especially anyone who has ever said “I can’t write poetry!!!”……….because trust me – YOU CAN!    Every Thursday I give you a photo to use as inspiration for the following Thursday when we get together and share.    You just let us know in our comments here if you wrote a poem, give us your blog link OR you can even write your poem and share it HERE in our comments!    Give it a try – you just might find you’re a poet after all!!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week for inspiration – after the photo you can read what my poem this week is – actually – for the VERY FIRST TIME – I asked my Mom if she’d like to write a poem for this photo.   She took ballet when she was very young like many little girls do.    I thought she’d enjoy writing about her ballet memories.   After her poem I’ll give you a photo for NEXT week…..

“Graceful As a Swan”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell’s Mom Pam     July 25, 2018

Back stage waiting for the signal to “fly”

Ballerinas so graceful – they dazzle the eye

White swans on point, long legs will dance

Choreographed to perfection, nothing left to chance.

Many years have passed since my ballerina days

My body has changed in unflattering ways!

It wasn’t my choice to take ballet

I’d rather be joining with my friends to play

Recitals would come around each year in the Fall

I’d always be in front because I was so tall….

All eyes on me as I did my very best

This “swan” preferred to be in the audience watching the rest!

Yet I wanted to please Mom and my friends so I’d try

But this tall, thin ballerina was a swan who couldn’t fly !

Oh Mom……..poor you – you also took tap dancing I know AGAIN you were always stuck in front of the class for recitals since you always were about 6 inches taller than anyone else!    Thanks for being my POET this week…………hope you had fun writing it and hope everyone else enjoyed reading it.

I have a doozy of a photo for everyone for NEXT week’s poem.    Just study the photo and it will inspire you in some way by the look of it, the feel of it, the color of it – maybe an old memory triggered or a dream you had.    Remember that poetry doesn’t HAVE to rhyme either.   There’s a million poetic forms and you can invent your own if you want.   I hope you’ll play along with us!

Here’s your inspiration………………..

This will be a FUN one don’t you think????   I hope you will write a poem this week and share it next Thursday…………………I’ll be back here with my poem to share with you!

Until then, remember all of us at the Rainbow Bridge are always with you – especially when you need us the most.

Love, Angel Sammy

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Thank you Angel Sammy………….I bet Mom enjoyed writing a poem for you this week.   I hope our friends wrote one too.   I’ll be checking comments and blogs to read them.   I know you will be peeking at them too.

Happy Thursday everyone!    Time to get thankful “out loud” again with this Blog Hop hosted by our friend Brian’s – we join together to give thanks for our blessings and share and you can do the same if you just click his badge above and join us.

I am not just thankful but overjoyed that we FINALLY got some rain yesterday because we really, truly needed it badly.   The sad thing is we got three inches of it in about an hour which is a whole lot of rain much of which just ran down the yards in waterfalls instead of having a chance to soak in and do some good.  BUT we won’t complain really because it DID help our drought.   There was some serious flooding here and there but you almost can’t tell it happened today as everything is cleaned up and drying out.   I am thankful though – Mom has been having to water porch and deck and shrubs for WEEKS now but yesterday’s rain was most helpful.

Also I’m thankful that in spite of the violent thunderstorm with big lightning it did NOT interfere with Angel Sammy’s wifi connection he uses at the RAINBOW BRIDGE,  allowing him to transmit to ME, his poem for this week.   I look forward to hearing from him every week and I hope you do too.    You know he keeps hoping more of you will give writing a poem to share a try – maybe you will feel like taking a whack at it this next week?   We’ll see if the photo he gives us for inspiration is one you can feel comfy writing a poem about????

Here’s his email from overnight………………..

♥♥♥

GREETINGS AND SALUTATIONS FROM THE RAINBOW BRIDGE!

So glad the storm my little brother had around his house yesterday didn’t keep my email from arriving and grateful he didn’t lose power in his house.   It’s been so hot it would have been uncomfortable with all the heat and humidity if he hadn’t had his A/C.    I’m also grateful that up here at the Bridge we are comfortable ALL THE TIME!

Did you write a poem this week?   I try to find interesting photos for you to use as inspiration and I myself write one based on the photos I find.    It’s fun.   This is the photo I chose for all of us last week to use as inspiration for today.    How does the photo make you feel?  What do you SEE in the photo?   What can you write about that this photo inspires in you?

Here’s my poem based on the above photo………….

“River Queen”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell       July 18, 2018

Riverboat gamblers in a smoky room

Upright piano player playing a tune

Cigar smoke in layers in a room full of noise

Bartender asking “what will it be for you boys?”

Chorus girls dancing up on the stage

Winners are happy – while losers rage

All of that action in the riverboat saloon

Miss Flossie sitting on a stool singing a tune

Head out on deck for air in the still of the night

Takes your breath away watching the stars – oh what a sight

All the action inside with the yells and the songs

While the River Queen riverboat quietly glides along…………

That was a fun one……….I hope you had fun writing your poem this week.    If you did write one – just make sure and tell us you did in comments here with your link so we can go read it!   You can also write your poem IN our comments to share it.   If you didn’t write one – take a gander at the photo I’ve got for you for NEXT Thursday and see if you might be inspired to write one for NEXT Thursday when we get together again:

Oh I already have an idea what my poem will be titled – it hit me like a ton of bricks when I saw this photo!!   Inspiration is like that sometimes – it’s RIGHT THERE and you don’t even have to think about it.   Not always but sometimes.

I’ll look forward to seeing you all next week…….C’mon – join me in writing a poem.   You will enjoy it I promise!   Meanwhile, remember, all of us at the Rainbow Bridge whether we’ve been here an hour, a day or years love you and watch out for you 24/7.    We are always WITH YOU.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Teddy

Thanks Angel Sammy.     I loved this poem.    Of course I love all your poems but this one I think you might have had a bit of inspiration from Cat Scouts – am I right?   I know before I came along Cat Scouts took a trip to the Bayou in New Orleans and did a riverboat ride and stayed in a swamp one night where it was scary – mind if I show some of your old photos?   I still have your photo albums you know!    Everyone might enjoy seeing a couple.    Cat Scouts is TONS of fun and easy to join – if you’re a cat, you should visit and join up!

WOW……………….anyway, I can see where you got the idea for your poem and your photo this week.     Well, I guess it’s time to put a PERIOD at the end of this post and say thanks to everyone who played along with us on our Thoroughly Poetic Thursday.    Hope to see you next week……………..

Happy Thankful Thursday!    Time to join in Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop (click above) and talk about the things we’re thankful for this past week or ANY time.    Well today I had an occasion to be VERY thankful because my parents disappeared early this morning without a “see you soon Ted” or “we’ll bring you a surprise Ted”………poof they were gone.   THANKFULLY they came home this afternoon so I didn’t even have time for a good old panic attack.   I was just thankful they came home – I was able to get them to take me outside for a breath of fresh air and a nice yard cruise.

I’m also super thankful that Angel Sammy sent his poem and message to us again……..I look forward to that every week and I hope you do too!   The best thing is that apparently at the Rainbow Bridge they get SUPER good Wi-Fi so he can use his laptop to send us his weekly poem…….. Shall we see what kind of poem he wrote for the photo he gave us last week?   LET’S!!!

♥♥♥

Happy Poetic Thursday Friends!

Time for us to get together and share the poems we wrote during the week based on the photo I gave you last Thursday.  You’ve had a whole week to think about that photo and see what it conjures up in your creative brain in the way of some words strung together in ANY kind of poetic form.   There are TONS of poetic forms too…..I know one of them is right for you.    Did you know that poetry doesn’t have to rhyme?   People write to me saying they can’t do rhymes – well that doesn’t mean you can’t write poetry!!!

So here’s the photo I gave you LAST week to study and see what comes to your mind and write a poem about it – – – followed by MY poem based on the photo – – – followed by a NEW photo to use for inspiration for NEXT Thursday’s poetic get-together!

“Old Fashioned Fun”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     July 11, 2018

Back in “the good old days” according to some

There was such excitement when the day would come

The Carnival trucks and tents would come into town

There might even be a crazy old clown!

The tents were full of magic just like in a dream

There were hot dogs, cotton candy and delicious ice cream

Sometimes pony rides, ferris wheels, ladies with beards!

You saw all kinds of sights – some funny and some weird!

There were games like penny toss, bust the balloon, win a fish

You could win tacky stuffed animals or a cheap china dish

But Mom says the one thing she saw most if she stayed there a while

Were lots of very happy people and they ALL had a smile!

Well I don’t really know what a carnival is but if Mom and Dad say they were fabulous then I believe them.    If people smiled a lot that’s a GOOD THING……..Mom says these days you just don’t see as many smiles as “back in the day” (whatever THAT means!).

Now, how about YOU sharing YOUR poem with us – all you have to do is put your blog link in our comments here and we’ll follow it and read your poem!    Or if you want to, you can write your poem in our comments.    But I sure would be happy if you tried out your creative side and wrote a poem to share with us………..So come on and give it a whirl.

For next week, I picked out this photo to inspire you – how does it make you feel?  What do you think about when you see it?   Just have FUN with it and share next Thursday.

Now that ought to be a good one right?    So can I count on you to join us next week?   I’ll look for you……………..come to think of it, I’m ALWAYS looking for you because now that I’m at the Rainbow Bridge, I look out for everyone I care about.    Especially my little brother Teddy who I never even got to meet……..AND my Mom and Dad who gave me a forever home so many years ago.

Give Poetry A Try – You Just Might LIKE It !!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love Always, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy…………I love your poem – makes me wish I could have gone to a carnival.   Mom says there haven’t been any around here in years and years.  They do have a County Fair but it’s NOT at all like the carnivals she went to when she was little (when dinosaurs roamed the earth….hahaha).

So have a great Thursday everybody………………!

Happy Thursday!   Time to be thankful for another week………………..this Hop is sponsored by our good friend Brian and you can join in and tell us your Thankfuls by clicking his badge above.   Fill out the LINKY tool and tell it like it is.     My “Thankfuls” this week include that Mom and Dad finally got the deck resealed and I can now visit it on my “walks” around the yard.   It was off limits for several days while the work was going on and now I can go up there and hang out if I want to.    Another thankful is that even though we were expecting a whole lot of firework noise yesterday we didn’t have ANY until last night and even that wasn’t so bad.    I wasn’t scared at all (well, hardly anyway!).

The other part of my post today is sharing the email I got from Angel Sammy via his wifi connection at the Bridge transmitting his regular Thursday poem to us.    YAY!    Below is what came through……………

♥♥♥

Hello everyone!    Here we are again on a Thursday sharing some fun with poetry.    By now you know that on Thursdays I not only share my poem with you that I based on the previous week’s “photo inspiration” that I gave, but I also give you a challenging photo for you to write a poem about for NEXT Thursday when we get together again!    Just put into words what the photo I give you “says” to you – how does it make you feel or what do you see/think about when you see it?     Pretty easy right?   Well you may think you can’t write a poem but you CAN – trust me.    Here’s the photo I gave you last week for you to write a poem about for today – followed by my poem.

“Movie Night”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    July 5, 2018

Drive In movies were very popular in the past

But like lots of things, they just didn’t last

People now prefer a cool movie theater seat

Rather than outside in a car – but back then it was a treat!

Date night meant going to a drive-in, getting popcorn, cokes and candy

Sitting close to your boyfriend in the car with the window speaker quite handy

Intermission you’d walk around, visit friends or get more snacks for “part two”

All around you other cars full of families or maybe couples like you!

It was cozy and private and MAYBE you’d see some of the movie……….

In your date night clothes and teased up hair you felt quite groovy…..

Well that’s what Mom says drive-ins were like but that was so long ago

I’m sure there were people there who ACTUALLY came for the show!!!!

HAHA……sorry Mom…….I had to write this one and it’s dedicated to you and your long-ago memories.    There are some drive-ins around these days but they are few and far between.

So now that I embarrassed Mom (!) and also had some fun writing this poem, it’s time for me to tell you that if you’ve written your OWN poem from the photo, please let us know and give us your link in our comments OR write your poem there to share with us.   C’mon!!!   We want you to give poetry a try……………..it’s FUN I promise.

Now here’s your poem for NEXT Thursdays poetic inspiration – you have a whole week to write a poem about this photo………..will you do it?   I hope so.

So I will hope to see you all again next week when we get together and share our poems based on the above photo – is it a date?    Until then, just remember that those of us up here at the Bridge are watching over you……all day every day……always and forever.

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday!   Time to share our thankfuls from the past week on this blog hop that our buddy Brian hosts every week.   Wanna join in?  Just click the badge above and DO IT!    This week I have to say I’m thankful that we have had TWO days of sun.   I don’t mind rain – in fact I will walk outside and act like I don’t even notice it’s raining like mad – but I prefer sun and puddles of sun.   Who wouldn’t?   If you’re a cat anyway!    I’m ALSO thankful my brother Angel Sammy did his usual and reliable thing of transmitting via his Bridge Laptop this week’s THOROUGHLY POETIC poem………what would my week be without that too?   Well, it sure wouldn’t be as much fun.

Below is the email I got from him last night.   If you’ve never participated in the sharing of a poem inspired by one of Sammy’s photos he gives us then maybe this is the week you should try!!

♥♥♥

Hello my friends!   It’s already Thursday even though it seems like YESTERDAY we shared our photo-inspired poetry here, doesn’t it?   Time flies – not just for your Earth-bounders but also for those of us at the Bridge.   Anyway, the idea behind this whole thing is that I give you a photo every week and you have a whole week to write a poem based on that photo; how it made you feel looking at it, things you thought about when you looked at it, what you see in your heart and mind when you look at it.   Got the idea?    It’s easy – and so is writing a poem.   Trust me – poetry takes all sort of forms and sometimes doesn’t even rhyme – it’s just full of feelings or thoughts.   GIVE IT A TRY!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week AND following the photo you’ll see the poem I wrote!

“Paradise”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell     June 27, 2018

An oasis in the midst of the endless sand

A welcome spot in a magical land

Echoes of ancient cultures all around

Breezes through the palm trees the only sound

The cats and their caretaker enjoy paradise

The wind off the water feels ever so nice

The royal caretaker serves the cats to the best of her ability

The felines belong to a family of nobility

This restful break from court will soon be at an end

Soon a chariot will arrive – one the King will send

The caretaker and her charges will return to their home

The royal cats walled in so they can no longer roam

Paradise will be waiting for the next time around

When by the oasis, contented purrs are the only sound………..

I know Teddy would enjoy a trip to this place wherever it is and I know I’d like to meet him there…………………Perhaps this is a spot here at the Rainbow Bridge that I’ve not yet seen – it looks quite magical that’s for sure.   I can’t wait to read YOUR poems – did you write one?   Let us know that you did in our comments – give us your blog link so we can read it OR write your poem in our comments HERE.    YOU CAN DO IT!

Here’s your poetic inspiration for NEXT Thursday……see what you can come up with for this photo!    Take the challenge and run with it.   It’s fun.   Honest it is.

This brings back some memories for some of you right?   I hope to see you next week……………….I’ll be looking for you – in the meantime, remember we are friends forever.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Here we are on another Thankful Thursday.   Our friend Brian has this Hop every week so we can all get together and celebrate the things we’re thankful for!   If you’d like to join in and tell the world your “thankfuls” – just click the badge above and fill out the LINKY tool.   It’s great to really give some thought to all the things we’re thankful for and share.    This week I have a weird thankful.   Believe it or not I’m thankful for all the SKINKS who have invaded our yard!

They are great fun……they’re SO fast – too fast for me to catch them but I sure do try.    They like to hang out in the stone wall of our stone garden – also by the azalea bushes on the side of our yard, AND under our front sidewalk!    Under the sidewalk you ask?  Yes because over the 21 years Mom and Dad have lived here since having the house built, it has settled a lot and there’s a bit of a space under the concrete sidewalk where the front porch stairs are.   Dad has put concrete blocks in to cover up the space but those skinks are sneaky – they can get through the tiniest spaces.   They love to tease me – they stick their heads out and wait for me and then disappear when I get to them.   So why is that a thankful thing?   Well it gives me HOURS of entertainment – I am NEVER bored – and it’s just as wonderful as bird or squirrel TV!

I also have to say I’m thankful that Angel Sammy came through for all of us again with a poem for Poetic Thursday………..here’s what he sent to me via email to share with all of you!

♥♥♥

Hello friends and fans of poetry.   It’s time for us to spend a little time on Thursday sharing our poetry that’s been inspired by a photo…….you see a photo and all kinds of things go through your head.    It’s easy enough to put your feelings or thoughts into a poem because poetry is flexible – it doesn’t have to rhyme – it’s just an EXPRESSION so I say GO FOR IT.   Be brave and write a poem.   Maybe you have?   If so, please let us know in our comments here so we can read yours.   I thought the photo I gave you last week was FUN and I hope your poem was fun to write too.     Here’s the photo I gave you……………

Here’s my photo-poem – then I’ll give you another photo to study until NEXT Thursday when we will all share our poems again – Deal?

“Tiny World”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    June 14, 2018

On the forest floor there’s another world

Rich moist soil, tiny ferns unfurl

The inhabitants of this place so fertile and small

We don’t see as we walk through destroying it all

Tiny flowers, tiny homes, tiny burrows and plants

Home to worms, little insects and millions of ants!

They hurry around on a mission of survival and toil

As they build their stockades out of pebbles and soil

They survive in groups, defend their own, and pillage and loot

Then a human comes along with big feet and destroys it all with his boot!

HA!  I bet you didn’t see that coming did you?    I guess I don’t normally write humorous poems – but I couldn’t resist.    I hope you’ve written one too?

Here’s next week’s photographic inspiration.    Study it for a whole week then share your poem with us NEXT Thursday.   I bet you can come up with something great if you just give it a try.

This will be a good one don’t you think?    I’ll look forward to having a little poetic fun with you next week.    As always, it will be a busy week ahead here at the Rainbow Bridge.   I am sure most people think we Angels just sit on our clouds and sleep the day away but we are always busy;  on guard watching our families, teaching things to the new arrivals, learning from the wise ones who were here when we arrived, and WAITING…………waiting for our families so one day we will have a big reunion!

Have a good week my friends……………………………

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love and Angel Kisses, Sammy

Gosh Angel Sammy I like your poem today.   It was such a surprise ending!    Mom says sometimes when she’s crunching her way through the woods she wonders what might be under those layers of leaves…..what kinds of small worlds she’s walking on top of……and hoping if she destroys something, the “inhabitants” will rebuild.    I promise to be a good boy in the week ahead and will look forward to your next transmission from the Bridge.

Hugs to everyone…………Teddy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Time for the THANKFUL THURSDAY Hop, hosted by my friend Brian.   We get together via the Hop on Thursdays and talk about how thankful we are for WHATEVER – if you think about it, I know that we ALL have things we’re thankful for.   If you’d like to join in the Hop – click Brian’s badge above and join in.

I don’t have a specific thing to be thankful for this week but I do believe in expressing my thankfulness every single day.   Mom and I have quiet time in the morning together before Dad gets up and one of the things we always do is say a little prayer of thanks for BEING HERE and having a quiet and peaceful life in a comfy home with friends and family.   It’s easy to take things like that for granted.   We hope we NEVER EVER do that.

I’m also thankful that my Angel brother Sammy got through with his wi-fi connection to transmit his Thursday poem to us!    A Thursday without poetry from him AND without reading everyone else’s photo challenge poetry just wouldn’t be as fun!

Here’s what I got from Sammy overnight……….

♥♥♥

Hello everyone………it’s Thursday again and time to share some poetry.   I hope you decided to participate this week whether you’ve written a poem before or not.   It’s a fun thing to do and I try to make it a challenge by giving you a photo every week to use as “inspiration” for your poetry!    So far everyone who is writing a poem is doing an amazing job.    We have some REAL poets out there in blog land and happily some of them are our blog followers.

So, in case you need to see last week’s photo that I gave you to write a poem from, here it is again, followed by my poem.

“Cat Pals”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell    May 31, 2018

Buddies and pals can be quite fun

Having two or three can be more fun than ONE

Someone to play with, or sleep with or cuddle

It’s hard to play football when you’re alone in the huddle!

If something goes wrong, your pal can be there

They can give reassurance, or comb out your hair!

Or clean out your ears, or lick food off your face

Pals don’t want their friends to look like a disgrace!

But some animals are fine being the one and only

If you’ve always been “just one” then you can’t feel lonely

If our humans play with us and talk to us and stuff

Being on our own in the household is not really tough!

We get all the attention, all the treats, all the toys

We can be just as happy, and just as full of real joy

But if one day my humans decide to get me a pet

You’d better believe it’s a CAT they would get !

My Dad was always a dog guy before he met my Mom…………Mom quickly converted him to a cat guy………..and I have to say, both Teddy and I are happy that happened !!

SO, I bet you’re anxious to see the photo that I have for you for NEXT week – but I have to say first that I’m hoping you wrote a poem for TODAY with the kitty photo.  Did you?  If so, tell us in comments and give us your blog link so we can READ it OR if you want, write your poem in our comments to share.

Here’s your challenge photo for NEXT Thursday!

This will be a fun one don’t you think?????   We’ll share what we all come up with next Thursday.   Until then, I will remind you that I am THANKFUL you are our friends.   I’m also THANKFUL if you take up the challenge to express your creativity with a poem – I can promise you it’s not as hard as you might think it is.

Until next week, I’m sending you all Heavenly Hugs from the Rainbow Bridge…………….

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Hugs, Angel Sammy

Well I can’t top that – so I will just say – see you next Thursday for Thankful and Poetic Thursday!
