Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday!   Time to share our thankfuls from the past week on this blog hop that our buddy Brian hosts every week.   Wanna join in?  Just click the badge above and DO IT!    This week I have to say I’m thankful that we have had TWO days of sun.   I don’t mind rain – in fact I will walk outside and act like I don’t even notice it’s raining like mad – but I prefer sun and puddles of sun.   Who wouldn’t?   If you’re a cat anyway!    I’m ALSO thankful my brother Angel Sammy did his usual and reliable thing of transmitting via his Bridge Laptop this week’s THOROUGHLY POETIC poem………what would my week be without that too?   Well, it sure wouldn’t be as much fun.

Below is the email I got from him last night.   If you’ve never participated in the sharing of a poem inspired by one of Sammy’s photos he gives us then maybe this is the week you should try!!

♥♥♥

Hello my friends!   It’s already Thursday even though it seems like YESTERDAY we shared our photo-inspired poetry here, doesn’t it?   Time flies – not just for your Earth-bounders but also for those of us at the Bridge.   Anyway, the idea behind this whole thing is that I give you a photo every week and you have a whole week to write a poem based on that photo; how it made you feel looking at it, things you thought about when you looked at it, what you see in your heart and mind when you look at it.   Got the idea?    It’s easy – and so is writing a poem.   Trust me – poetry takes all sort of forms and sometimes doesn’t even rhyme – it’s just full of feelings or thoughts.   GIVE IT A TRY!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week AND following the photo you’ll see the poem I wrote!

“Paradise”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell     June 27, 2018

An oasis in the midst of the endless sand

A welcome spot in a magical land

Echoes of ancient cultures all around

Breezes through the palm trees the only sound

The cats and their caretaker enjoy paradise

The wind off the water feels ever so nice

The royal caretaker serves the cats to the best of her ability

The felines belong to a family of nobility

This restful break from court will soon be at an end

Soon a chariot will arrive – one the King will send

The caretaker and her charges will return to their home

The royal cats walled in so they can no longer roam

Paradise will be waiting for the next time around

When by the oasis, contented purrs are the only sound………..

I know Teddy would enjoy a trip to this place wherever it is and I know I’d like to meet him there…………………Perhaps this is a spot here at the Rainbow Bridge that I’ve not yet seen – it looks quite magical that’s for sure.   I can’t wait to read YOUR poems – did you write one?   Let us know that you did in our comments – give us your blog link so we can read it OR write your poem in our comments HERE.    YOU CAN DO IT!

Here’s your poetic inspiration for NEXT Thursday……see what you can come up with for this photo!    Take the challenge and run with it.   It’s fun.   Honest it is.

This brings back some memories for some of you right?   I hope to see you next week……………….I’ll be looking for you – in the meantime, remember we are friends forever.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

    • I’m glad you liked Angel Sammy’s poem this week – yours was wonderful too. Mom says when Angel Sammy “made” her pick that photo as inspiration she KNEW it would make people’s imagination go crazy and come up with some truly magical poetry and stories.

    • Oh Madi we loved your poem – it made us giggle – we thought about that endless spot to potty too – imagine – not having to go in a box but having your whole world ready for your “needs” !! It was a rather magical photo but you did a great job with it.

  3. That was a wonderful poem Angel Sammy. Perhaps there is a place somewhere out there beyond our galaxy. And yes, next week’s photo sure does bring back some happy memories. We used to have a drive-in in the next town over, but it closed when I was in college. XO

  4. Oh Sammy, that is a totally wonderful poem. It reminds Mom of a book she read. She thinks it was called Catlantis. What you said afterward about the Rainbow Bridge was one of our thoughts. We considered writing a poem about that and all of Kitties Blue visiting our predecessors. We did write a poem: This is the link: http://thecatonmyhead.com/astrids-magical-place/ Mom is super excited about today. Hope y’all have fun. • You did a wonderful job with your poem……it was absolutely FUN to read and obviously you enjoyed that photo as much as WE did!! Mom and Dad both had a fabulous time visiting with your parents today – I know you miss them while they were gone – I did too – but they brought me a bunch of fun stuff from your Mom and I hope you like your stuff from ME ME ME!

  5. Sweet poem, Angel S. Mom is trying not to imagine what would happen if I stepped into that “paradise.” Once I stepped on the sand in the baseball field by my house and I lost my mind. I ran in circles till my legs were all covered in yellow from the sand and Mom was dizzy.

  6. Teddy, we’re going to tell Mother Nature to send you more sun! Now, Angel Sammy, I just love the story you told of the royal felines in your poem! You know, the word “oasis” came to my mind when I first saw this photo, too. I couldn’t seem to get that idea to work for my poem, but you sure did! And using next week’s image is going to be such fun, as always. Purrs, and happy Thursday!

    • Thank you so much Miss Lorianne….I think it was a super wonderful bit of digital artwork for our subject this week and we loved your story-poem as ALWAYS too! My Mom said the minute she found that photo that she would love to be there…..or maybe HAS been there (!!!!). Next week’s photo is just a flashback for her…..lots of great memories at drive-ins!

    • I think that digital artwork is absolutely wonderful – there are so many things to SEE in it….and so many things it makes you feel. Kind of like a dream maybe….anyway, we loved it and it was easy to write a poem about!
