It’s Double Up Day!

Standard

Thankful Thursday and Poetic Challenge ALL IN ONE!

First up – let’s talk about being THANKFUL!    Every Thursday the blogosphere shares with each other some of the things that we are THANKFUL for – new things, old things, doesn’t matter – most of us have things we truly are thankful for and we’re no exception here at One Spoiled Cat!    Thank you Brian for hosting this wonderful Blog Hop – if you want to join in – click his badge and visit him to use the LINK tool and you’re IN!

Mom is thankful that Angel Sammy sent me to his old shelter so my Mom and Dad would find me – I’m thankful HE did that and that THEY found me!   Those are BIG thankfuls for me.   Angel Sammy is thankful that when he arrived at the Rainbow Bridge it was everything he thought it would be and more.   He has US here if he needs us and he has all his Angel friends THERE if he needs them and to do good works with since Angels work hard every day.   Mom is thankful for many MANY things…….to have her health again, to be ALIVE and about to have her 70th birthday, to be married to my Dad for 27 years in a couple of weeks, to have ME (tee hee), to have a comfortable home and all the things she wants or needs……….fortunate?  We all are.   We’re THANKFUL.

I also received a BLOG AWARD from some friends this week but I’m going to write about that and follow the “rules” for the award in another post – but until then, we want to THANK our friends Hemingway and Steinbeck  for nominating us for this award!    You two are such good buddies and pals.

The second part of my blog post today is one I do WITH my Angel brother Sammy.     This is the THIRD TIME to go through the alphabet here on the blog – can you believe it?   We’re chugging our way through and have made it to the letter “J”…………….As you all know, Angel Sammy transmits HIS poem to me via his laptop computer and the Rainbow Wi-Fi link every Wednesday night so I can post it for you every Thursday morning!    His way of keeping in touch with us all!

Here’s what I got from him last night:

Greetings From Paradise !

Hello Friends!   Oh how I look forward to Thursday of every week so we can share our poetry with each other………….I write mine from my vantage point of the Rainbow Bridge, and you write yours from wherever you are………..and we enjoy each other’s thoughts.   Remember if you decide to write a poem you can post it HERE in our blog comments OR you can give us in comments your blog link where we can zip off to read your words!   Poems do not have to rhyme…….poems are thoughts we put together for the purpose of sharing and putting what we think or feel into words.

We are up to the letter “J” and I gave you four prompt words that you could choose to use one or more of but you can write about ANYTHING starting with the letter “J” !!!    These were the prompts I gave you last week if you needed an inspiration:

(1) JUICY (2) JUMP (3) JUNGLE (4) JEALOUS

I’m using one of my prompts from last week – the word “JUNGLE”!

“JUNGLE”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, August 16, 2017

Cats all share one special feature

An “inner” soul of a fierce, wild creature!

Pretending we are stalking dangerous prey

We practice hard almost every day!

Among the houseplants or gardens we bungle

Pretending we’re tigers in our own private jungle

We sneak up on toys, food bowls or your TOES

Where we’ll attack nobody knows!

Our jungle can be among furniture or on beds

Or the blankets, sheets and pillows where you put your heads!

As long as we THINK that we cannot be seen

We stalk and have fun and try not to be MEAN

Our inner wild animal comes out as we play

Then we tuck it back inside to let loose the next day!

♥♥♥

Now it’s YOUR turn!   Write a poem – trust me – you will feel good sharing a thought or idea or feeling…………I do it every Thursday with all of you – give it a try!    Now for NEXT week’s prompt words which might jump start your thoughts for a poem!

(1) KISS  (2) KEY  (3) KING  (4) KINDLE

Good luck my friends and I’ll look forward to seeing you NEXT Thursday for Thoroughly Poetic Thursday with ME!!

I will love you all FOREVER, Angel Sammy

Thank you dear brother………………we’ll look forward to next Thursday and in the meantime everyone – why not take Angel Sammy’s suggestion and WRITE A POEM !!

Hugs, Teddy

Yay!  It’s 2-For-1 Day!

First up in our two posts in one day is our friend Brian’s Thankful Thursday……………even though all of us are thankful every day, we set aside Thursday to SHARE what we’re thankful for by hooking up to Brian’s Blog Hop – just click his badge above and you will go there right away then use the LINKY tool to “hook up” !!

I want to say that today I’m particularly THANKFUL for my Mom.   Why?   Well, this whole week I’m “away” at Cat Scouts (online of course) and we’re at Yosemite at Summer Camp.   We’ve had TWO craft projects to complete and Mom of course did them for me since unlike my brother Angel Sammy, I don’t have thumbs!    One was making a special hat and the other actually was something for Scout Moms.   It’s an infinity scarf but we had to paint it and it’s drying so I can’t show you that but I CAN show you the cool hat she made from the instructions we got – she had to sew it by hand.  I think she did a SWELL job and I am so THANKFUL!

YAY MOM!   Thanks for helping me at Cat Scouts.   We have so much fun – she’s going to try to get a photo of me wearing the cap (hahahahahaha good luck with that!)………Interested in joining Cat Scouts?  Just go HERE to register.   Tell them Angel Sammy and Teddy sent ya!

Now on to part #2 of the blog today which was sent to me LAST NIGHT in an email from my Angel brother Sammy………………..here’s what he sent!

♥♥

Hello from the Rainbow Bridge my friends!

Today is my Thoroughly Poetic Thursday poetry day………………my challenge to you is to make it for the THIRD TIME through the alphabet with a poem each week using the NEXT letter of the alphabet.    We are up to the letter “I” – can you believe it?    We’re working our way through!    Anyone can write a poem – so why not you – go ahead – poetry doesn’t even have to RHYME to have a theme and a meaning so if you’d like to join us, please do!

The way we do this is you are free to write a poem about ANYTHING AT ALL that begins with the letter “I” – OR, you could use one or more of the prompt words I give you every Thursday to use for the following week.    Last week I gave you four “I” prompts that you could use if you want:

(1) IMAGINE (2) IDIOT (3) IRON (4) ICKY

Those were kind of tough prompts but I just bet you came up with something INTERESTING (say – that word starts with an “I”!) for your poem this week.    Here’s MINE:

“I”

“Imagine”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, 8/9/17

Imagine a place where peace abounds

Endless flowers adorn beautiful grounds

Endless blue in the sky up above

Never a bad thought, just boundless LOVE

Imagine a cloud so soft and secure

A bed for an angel, with dreams that are pure

Imagine being healthy, and young, and revived

You just left one existence but your “self” survived

Your wings lift you up and you fly with such ease

You may visit your family and friends if you please

We have gone from your touch, but we’re with you still

One day we will see you as you come up the hill

Arrive at the Bridge and we run to your side

The love we have held like a rushing tide

We welcome you home – we’re together at last

A reunion so sweet, like mere seconds have passed……….

Yes I’ve written about the Bridge again………….I suppose it’s just natural for me to do that because after all – I’m HERE!    It really is a wonderful place and those of us who are here will be waiting for you – our beloved humans – until you are able to join us.   Meanwhile, look for us in your dreams………..or in the clouds on a clear day……….or at the end of the RAINBOW!

Your prompt words next week if you wish to use one will be:

(1) Juicy (2) Jump (3) Jungle (4) Jealous

See you next week!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥

Thank you for your poem this week Angel Sammy.  One day – hopefully a long time from now, I will join you at the Bridge – what a TIME we will have!!!   Then Mom and Dad will make their way there and we will be together again.

I hope if you have written a poem you will either post your poem in our comments here, OR in comments give us the link to your blog so we can visit you and read your MASTERPIECE!!!!!    Make sure and visit us on Poetry Thursday next week……………..we’ll look for you!!

Two For The Price Of One Day!

Thankful Thursday AND Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

First up – Thankful Thursday Blog Hop with our good friend Brian.   THANK YOU for hosting this weekly event Brian – gives us all a chance to say out loud what we think in our hearts every day – that we are indeed thankful.    I’m thankful today that I will have my big brother Angel Sammy with me in spirit starting this Sunday when I begin a whole week at “Cat Scouts Summer Camp” !    We have activities every single day of the week until the following Sunday – I’m nervous since this is my first BIG Scouts event.   Angel Sammy has promised to be “on my shoulder” – it will be the first big event there he’s missed since he became an Angel.

The second part of today’s post is in fact FROM Angel Sammy – he transmitted his “Thoroughly Poetic Thursday” post to me via email from his Rainbow Bridge Laptop last night……………..here it is!

Hello Friends!  Time for some poetry!

I’m so happy that I can continue to do these fun poetry challenges with all of you every week – we really do have excellent w-fi up here at the Rainbow Bridge…………and I write my poem in my spare time up here – usually right before I float away to dream land on my cloud at night!    We are working our way through the alphabet for the third time since I started Poetic Thursdays and this week the letter was the letter “H”.   Your poem needed to be about ANYTHING that starts with the letter “H” or you could use one or more of the prompt words that I give you each week.

The “H” prompts I gave you last week were:

(1) Happy (2) Hobby (3) Heart (4) Home

I decided to write my poem for today using one of the prompt words – HOBBY!

“Hobby”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, 8/3/17

When I was earthbound I loved to play

A made up game for every day

Hide and seek was one of my best

But in summer one hobby was better than the rest!

Butterfly tag was my specialty you see

I loved the challenge and I think they loved me!

They’d fly in range then suddenly UP and AWAY

I’m sure they knew if they were close they would pay!

When I was young I could leap way up high

Those butterflies flew right up to the sky

They were quite smart and played my game

When I got old though it just wasn’t the same

I never ever hurt them, I’d catch then let go

After all, watching them was the very best show.

Old age took away my ability to leap

But my love of the butterflies I could certainly keep.

One of nature’s beauties, delicate and light

Who knew I’d one day be like them and capable of flight!!

Here are some photos of me waiting UNDER our butterfly bush for those butterflies to visit – they always did – but they didn’t know I was hiding and WAITING – like a shark!   Tee Hee

Guess I’ll wait for more to arrive!

Hey there’s only one butterfly!!

Here we are !

Remember if you want to pawticipate in my poetry fun every week PLEASE DO.   Remember poems don’t have to rhyme to be poetry…………..any form will work…….you can put your poem in my comments here OR put your blog link in my comments so we can visit you and read your FABULOUS poetry.

Next week we will do poems about things starting with the letter “I”………………….anything starting with that letter works OR you can use one or more of these prompt words if you want to!

(1) Imagine  (2) Idiot  (3) Iron  (4) Icky

So until next Thursday, I encourage you to give poetry a try……………..it’s fun……………HONEST!

Bon Chance Mon Amis!

Thanks Angel Sammy!   And thanks to all of you for tuning in on double post Thursday!    See you tomorrow for Friendly Fill-In Friday………..and who knows what else…………it’s always something around here!

Two For One Day!

First up is Thankful Thursday Hop with Brian – one we look forward to every week because we can publically share what we’re thankful for this week.    I am VERY thankful that my Mom and Dad are so understanding of my need to go for walks outside.   I know they wondered if I would be like Sammy and easily trained on leash and harness and WOO HOO for me – I was most happy about it.   If it meant I could go outside and sniff and walk and dig in the dirt and eat grass then I was UP for it.    Every day I get at least three walks – Mom or Dad or sometimes both of them.    Lucky?  Oh yes indeed I am!

There are so many things I’m thankful for though – this is just ONE of the things I love the most.

The next part of today’s blog is my Angel brother Sammy’s FAVORITE thing – the Thoroughly Poetic Thursday challenge…………………..and he works very hard at the Rainbow Bridge all week then takes a break on Thursday to write a poem and email it to me via his Bridge Wi-Fi connection.    Here’s what I got from him LAST night to celebrate this week’s letter – the letter “G” !!

Hello poetry lovers!    Your old friend Angel Sammy coming to you from the Bridge and this week we are writing poems about ANYTHING starting with the letter “G”!    I also gave you four prompt words for you to choose from if you couldn’t think of your OWN “G” word – the prompts were:

(1) Garden (2) Giggle (3) Groceries (4) Grandma

I had a lot of trouble deciding which of these to write about but I wound up picking my favorite because it was “Mom” time for me when she worked in her Garden!

“G” is for Garden

by Angel Sammy Kimmell, 7/26/17

Gardens are places where hopes can grow

You plant some seeds and watch the show!

Young seedlings pop up from the soil

Then comes the hard work but it’s worth the toil!

Veggies and flowers my Mom had gardens galore

She loved them all but the deer loved them more!

The critters would munch and get their fill

Mom’s All You Can Eat Buffet served food and they got no bill!

Time went on and she decided to change

No longer in the yard – she changed her range

She gardened on the porch and on the back deck

Plants she could raise and the animals were in check!

The woods around the house provided plenty for them to eat

The birdfeeders sunflower seeds were STILL their treat.

Our gardens are smaller but at least they survive

I always helped Mom take care of them as long as I was alive.

Sam enjoying the front porch on a pretty fall day

So did you write a poem today to celebrate “G” ???  If you did, put your blog link in my blog comments here and we’ll follow the link to read your WORK OF ART!    Or if you’d rather, you can put your poem in my comments – we can read the whole thing right there!    It’s FUN to write poetry – it doesn’t have to be in any particular format – it doesn’t even have to rhyme.   Just put your feelings and thoughts on paper and SHARE!

Next week we’re moving on to the letter “H” and I’m going to give you the prompt words but remember you can write about ANYTHING starting with “H” – the prompts are just for fun and in case you can’t come up with something on your own!!   Ready?

(1) Happy  (2) Hobby  (3) Heart  (4) Home

I’ll be here next Thursday to see how you do AND to share my poem with all of you………………until then, this is your friend Angel Sammy heading back to do my work here at the Rainbow Bridge.   Remember, I’m always watching out for ALL of you………………

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Bro!   Thursdays just wouldn’t be the same without a poem from you.   We hope our friends write something to share too.    Speaking of sharing, Mom has some new photos of me beating up my poor old red tent.   It’s definitely on its’ last legs but I love it like it was brand spanking new.    I’m kind of tough on my toys……the old white mouse that belonged to Sammy’s has been reduced to a pile of rags (Dad’s old handkerchiefs) holding it together.   It looks just like a big pile of rags and I carry it EVERYWHERE – I even take it to the room where my Mom or sometimes my Dad happen to be and leave it so it can guard them and keep them safe!

This was Sammy’s old mousie – just a white mouse that he used to keep up on my Dad’s dining room chair…..until I found it of course!

This my dear friends is what’s left of Sammy’s white mouse – held together with “bandages” !!!  BUT I LOVE IT STILL!!

I’ll be back tomorrow with Friendly Fill-Ins Blog Hop…….see you then!

Love, Teddy

Twice The Fun Thursday Is Here!

Today we will join Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop AND my brother Angel Sammy will showcase his weekly poem with something celebrating this week’s letter of the alphabet – “F” !

First my “thankfuls”………….if you’d like to share your thankfuls, hop on over to Brian’s and use the linky tool (click on his badge below to go to his blog) to tell us what you’re thankful for – add your blog link and we’ll see what you have to say.   We all have something to be thankful for….sometimes it doesn’t seem like we do, but if we think about it, there are things all around us to be thankful for.    I’m thankful that even though it’s hot as heck outside my Mom and Dad who do NOT like “hot”, are still taking me out for a walk when I demand ask them to.    They try to stay in the shade but I like a bit of sun myself and they will indulge me.   I’m so thankful for such understanding parents!

Now for Angel Sammy!!!

Here’s what Angel Sammy transmitted to me overnight from the Bridge for today’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday!     First of all, today’s letter is “F” and he told us we could all write a poem about ANYTHING starting with the letter “F” or use one or more of his “prompt” words – which were:

(1) Feast (2) Frog (3) Frosty (4) Family

Here’s what he sent to me through his Cloudtop Computer!

Hello My Friends!    Are you ready for some poetry?

Today we do “F” and I’m using one of my prompts – the word “FROG”……….why?   Well some of you who have been following this blog for a while know that for many years I had a good friend who lived under the steps of my front porch at home.   His name was Freddy and he was a frog.    I saw him every Spring for several years – although truth be told, whether it was Freddy or one of his relatives I’ll never know for sure.   ANYWAY, he was my inspiration – we used to have such fun!

“F”

“Freddy Frog”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell 7/20/17

An unlikely friend some would say

But friends we were back in the day

Every Spring he’d come out to greet me

We didn’t arrange it – he’d just plain meet me!

The front porch was where we usually met

My water bowl was there and Freddy would be WET.

I knew he’d bathe in my water bowl you see

The telltale puddle was the big clue for me……

Then off the porch we both would hop

Down the sidewalk we’d go – at the driveway we’d stop.

Our “game” started when Freddy sat still…..

I’d give him a pat using my most tender of skills!

He’d hop when I’d pat him – just once then he’d stop

Until I patted him again then he’d take one more hop!

We’d go on with that for about 20 feet…..

Mom would be laughing as we moved down the street…..

Then he’d hop into the grass and go into the clover…..

That was the big clue that our game was over.

We sometimes would skip the game and just sit with each other

Then a car would go by and he’d run quick for cover.

One year he didn’t come and I worried and worried

Did an animal go after him and away he scurried?

By then I was older and not going out as much

Perhaps I’ll look him up at the Bridge and get back in touch!!

Mom took this photo of Freddy

I hope some of you also wrote a poem this week and if you did, please leave your blog link in my comments here so we can follow and read your poem OR you can even write your poem in my comments if you like.   It’s fun to write a poem – it doesn’t even have to rhyme….it can be haiku or ANY form of poetry too.   Silly or serious, doesn’t matter.   Just spread your wings and try to write a poem because you just might LIKE IT!     Here are your prompt words for NEXT week’s Poetic Thursday.    Remember, you can write about any “G” word or use one or more of these prompts!!

(1) Garden (2) Giggle (3) Groceries (4) Grandma

Until then my friends – take care of yourselves and enjoy every day!

Sammy the Angel Poet in his French Beret!

See you all tomorrow for Friendly Fill-Ins Blog Hop and whatever else I can think of to say in my blog!

Double Duty Thursday!

Thankful Thursday with Brian and

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday with Angel Sam

First let’s talk about Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop.    All of us who want to share what we’re thankful for join in and link up and talk about thankfulness.    Click on his badge above and you can use the Linky tool and hook up too!     Today I have to say I’m very thankful that I have a nice cool house to live in – why?  Because we’re having days close to the 100s and that means HOT HOT HOT.   Makes me think of all those animals who don’t have a nice cool home and access to fresh water.   It’s sad isn’t it.   Makes us realize how GOOD we have it.

The second part of today’s blog belongs to my brother Angel Sammy……………it was his idea to begin writing poetry and sharing it on Thursdays and drawing everyone into the “game” by going through the alphabet each Thursday and write a poem about something starting with a letter of the alphabet.    This past year we started our third time through the alphabet but with a twist – this time you can either write a poem about ANYTHING starting with that week’s letter OR use one of Angel Sammy’s “prompt” words!     This week we’re doing the letter “E” and his prompts for that letter are:

(1) Earth  (2) Evil  (3) Escape  (4) Empty

Angel Sammy transmitted via his wi-fi connection at the Bridge the following for today’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday!     If you wrote a poem and would like to share it, you can tell us you did and give us your blog link in my comments  OR you could even write your poem in my comments and we’ll be able to read it here…….either way, it’s fun to try your hand at writing a poem.  We hope you give it a try!     Here’s what I got from Angel Sammy overnight:

Hello My Friends!

Today is Thursday and it’s time for me to share the poem I wrote honoring the letter “E” as we upsh our way through the alphabet yet again!    I decided to use one of my prompt words – which one?  Well I chose the word EMPTY!

“E” is for “Empty”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell, July 12, 2017

Empty means there’s nothing there

It’s gone, it’s finished, nothing to spare

There’s empty words, empty brains (!) and empty hearts

Empty gas tanks, food bowls, and grocery carts!

NEVER empty was the cat food shelf in our kitchen

Even though brands of food I was constantly switching!

Empty means nothing there and that was NOT me

I lived my life on FULL and happy as could be

And that’s what I wish for you, that you’re FULL of love like me.

♥♥♥

Before I go, let me give you NEXT week’s prompt words – remember you don’t have to use one of these words – you can write a poem about ANYTHING starting with the letter “F” OK?    My suggested prompts are:

(1)  Feast  (2) Frog  (3)  Frosty  (4) Family

Be Happy!   Hugs, Angel Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy………….I’ll look forward to seeing what you come up with for next week…………AND now I think I’ll see if anyone has left a poem in our comments today OR a link to their poem on their own blog!!!!

But first a need a nap……tee hee………Love, Teddy

Thanks Angel Sammy for sending me this poem – I’ve printed it out and tacked it up above my bed to remind me to never get EMPTY and to always stay FULL!!

Double Post Thursday is Here!

FIRST we are THANKFUL with Brian………

I am thankful this week because Mom and Dad took me to the Vet on Tuesday to get me checked out!   Why on earth would I be THANKFUL for having to go to the stabby place?   Well, because it was only my third time in the car EVER – once coming home from the shelter when I was adopted, once for an initial vet check, and this past Tuesday for a BIG checkup.   Why did I need a BIG checkup?   Mom thought it was a big problem that I won’t eat wet food – I’m OK with dry but my favorite “dry” is TREATS!   Not a good thing – treats should be treats and not a main meal.   She also wasn’t sure if it was good that the only water I drink is out of the faucet.   That’s right – I go to the nearest bathroom and squeak (I don’t meow – I squeak) for someone to put me on the counter and turn on the water so I can get a BIG FAT drink.   Mom wants to get me a fountain – Dad says it’s gonna be just recycled water and I won’t use the fountain……..DUH…………. She also thought that MAYBE I was getting a little – well – how do I say this diplomatically – well CHUBBY is the word!     When I went to the vet initially after I was adopted, I was 11 months old and weighed 8 lbs.   Now I’m 15 months old and I weigh (gulp) 14 lbs!     Probably the treats I love says my doc.   So,  now I’m eating Fancy Feast regular REAL non-treat dry food which I find “ACCEPTABLE” !    So what about ALL OF THAT makes me thankful?     Because I’m thankful I have a Mom and Dad who love me so much they want me to get GOOD habits and to be HEALTHY always – that’s why!

Wanna tell the world why you’re thankful or read what everyone ELSE is thankful for?   Then click the badge above for Brian’s blog, go there and enter your blog address with the LINKY TOOL and join in the BLOG HOP he hosts every Thursday!

Now I’ll turn it over to Angel Sammy for HIS Poetry Challenge Post!

Hello friends from the Rainbow Bridge!    Today we are working on the letter “C” in our third go-round on the alphabet……………remember, the poems have to be about something starting with the letter “C” – OR you can use one of my prompt words that I provided LAST Thursday on the Poetic Thursday post!     Those words were:

(1)  CAR  (2) CAMERA  (3) COOKIE  (4) CARPET

What did I write and transmit to my baby brother for today’s post????   Stay tuned.

My poem is using the prompt last week with the word “CAR” !

“C”

“Car”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, 6/29/17

It was 17 years ago

When from the shelter I would go

Home with two people I would learn to love

People who were sent by angels above

I was such a lucky guy with a lucky star

UNTIL I GOT IN THAT AWFUL CAR!

For 16 years I’d have to travel

My patience and happiness would always unravel

I hated to be in that terrible thing

Because I knew what the trip would bring!

The vet was always my destination

THAT’s what would cause my consternation!

When I GOT there I was perfectly fine

It was the trip in the CAR that blew my mind!

I miss my parents more than I can say

But I don’t miss that CAR in any way!

So that’s it from the Rainbow Bridge this week……………hope you wrote a poem for the challenge – and if you did, you can post it in our comments HERE, or post your blog URL in my comments so we can come visit you and read your poetry!    Remember, it doesn’t matter if your poem rhymes – what’s important is that you give it a try…………everyone can write a poem………..honest!

With Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥

Thanks big brother…………………I am happy you have good wi-fi at the Rainbow Bridge so you can get your poem to me every week!    I hope we have lots of friends who decide to write a poem for “C” this week.   Now I’ll let everyone know what you chose for prompts for NEXT week’s letter “D” poem!    Remember everyone you can write a poem about ANYTHING starting with “D” or use one of Angel Sammy’s prompts:

(1) Danger  (2) Dandelion  (3) Dark  (4) Dinner

Great words Sammy!  Can’t wait to see what poems are written next week !

Til next Thursday!

It’s Double Duty Day!

Thankful Thursday and

Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

First let’s talk about being thankful – because we are – all of us!   I’m thankful to be here in this home with my two parents who love me and spoil me rotten (Sammy told me they would!) and they think they are lucky to have found me at the shelter where they found Sammy so long ago…….(what they don’t realize is that Sammy arranged that to happen on purpose!).    Also I’m thankful that Mom and Dad let me go for long walks on my leash where I can explore the whole big yard and woods……….I love digging in the mulch especially!    Tee Hee      Would you like to tell the world how thankful you are?    Then click the above badge and go to Brian’s blog where you can join in the THANKFUL hop – use his Linky Tool, enter your blog address, post about what you’re thankful for and THAT’S IT!

The other thing we do on Thursdays is let my Angel brother Sammy continue with something he did before he left for the Bridge last December – write poetry together!!!     We are on our THIRD go-thru of the alphabet now and this week’s letter is:

“B” !!

Today you can write a poem about ANY word/thing that starts with the letter “B” OR you can use one of the prompt words that Angel Sammy gave us LAST Thursday for this week – what were they???

(1) Banana  (2) Bath  (3) Brave or (4) Balloon

Here’s the post Angel Sammy transmitted to me on my computer overnight!!!

Hello My Sweet Friends!  Greetings from the Rainbow Bridge!   I wrote my poem last night and sent it to Teddy to share with you today – I hope you wrote a “B” poem too!   Remember you can write about anything you want starting with a “B” or you can use one of my prompts.   I’m using the prompt “Bath”!

“Bath”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell 6-22-17

Some cats really love to get wet

But drinking from my bowl is as close as I’d get!

The first day I came to live in my house

When I was tiny – small as a mouse!

Mom said at the shelter I’d gotten quite stinky….

So she got baby shampoo and a cloth and put me in the sinky!

She washed me gently but I was VERY unhappy

She tried to clean me quickly and make it snappy!

She rinsed me off and sat with me on the floor

She kissed me and said that I was stinky no more!

A nice warm towel and Moms lap both felt good

I knew I’d landed in a GREAT neighborhood…….

That bath was the ONLY one that I ever had

I kept myself immaculate and never was bad

I kept my furs neat and clean as can be

Right up to the day that my soul was set free………

(p.s. we don’t need baths at the Bridge!!!!)

I hope all of you wrote a poem today to share with us – you can put it in the comments here on the blog OR give us the link to your “B” poem in my comments and we’ll follow you to read it!!    Next week we will do a “C” poem……………..you can write about ANYTHING starting with the letter “C” or you can use one of next week’s PROMPTS from me here at the Bridge – ready?   Here they are:

(1) Car  (2) Camera  (3) Cookie  (4) Carpet

OK?   I hope to see you next week – I’ll have another poem direct from the Rainbow Bridge for you and I hope you have something to share with all of us too!    Until then:

Love and Light From Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy…………..I like your poem.  Know what?   Even though Mom and Dad got me from the same shelter they did NOT give me a bath when they got me home that first day – I guess I wasn’t stinky!!!!

See You All Next Thursday!

Love, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

We Did It!

We made it thru the alphabet again!   We’re THANKFUL for that!

It’s Thankful Thursday with Brian at Brian’s Home Blog and one of the many things we are thankful for is that we made it to Z with our poetic challenge – the second time through the alphabet and today we finish up with Z.     Then we’re going to do something a little different (for those who want to).   But FIRST – let’s talk “THANKFUL” – if you’d like to join in Brians’ Blog Hop and talk about how thankful you are and what for, DO IT.   Click on his badge above and use the LINKY tool and link up to the blog.    Share with the world what you are thankful for.

Teddy is thankful for Mom’s printer…………..WHAT???   Yes, strange but true.  He has a total fascination with the printer.  He can hear her turn it on and he comes running…….he sits quietly while it purrs, roars, gets warmed up then spits out a piece of paper she’s printed.   He’s fascinated.  Totally.   He doesn’t move………sometimes he will go over to it after she’s turned it off and try to turn it back on again.   He can’t QUITE reach the button on top and he’s not QUITE strong enough to push it down so no danger in him starting it but he obviously considers it a MAJOR item of fascination!

Excuse Mom’s messy office…….!!!!

Teddy also is thankful for his torn up, messed up, beat up, used up, barely there red kitty cube.    He plays with it until he’s exhausted then passes out partially inside on his back exposing his WHATEVER to the world!    Mom will turn around in her office chair and frequently sees this site – she couldn’t resist snapping YET ANOTHER photo of the little guy halfway in his pitiful old cube!

And last but not least, the little guy is VERY thankful that Mom has a studio couch in her office and he can lounge about on it and watch her work………..this is the first time she’s caught him in this particular pose though………..WHAT WAS HE THINKING?   Who knows.   We don’t try and figure him out- we just love him and his LASER eyes!

Now on to other business – let’s talk POETRY…………….in fact, let’s talk my THOROUGHLY POETIC THURSDAYS!!!

First of all thanks for sticking with me through the alphabet for “Time #2″……….it’s been fun and you all (or at least more of you than NOT) want to do it all over again so we will but with a bit of a TWIST.    Let’s do my “Z” poem though before we talk about “what’s next” OK?

“Z”

“Zany”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell, 6/7/17

Sometimes life just gets so busy

Every day can make you dizzy

Moving quickly to get things done

Busy days start well before the sun!

You don’t have to be real brainy

To realize that life is ZANY!

At the Bridge we take things slow

Here on Earth it’s GO GO GO

Even on a day that’s rainy

My poor Mom says things are ZANY!

Keeping up with the house, Teddy and blogs

She says her days “go to the dogs”

I think she’s feeling a little INSANE-EY

Which come to think about it, means she’s ZANY!

HAHAHA……not my best work that one but whatcha gonna do with Z?    I could have done ZOO but then again………….Mom says “Zany” fits her to a “T”…………….

So in order to make things more interesting as we begin next week to start AGAIN with the letter “A” and work our way through to ZANY Z…………………….here’s the plan.    If you would like to participate in my Poetic Thursdays, you can do one of the below:

  • Continue as you have with ANY word of your choice for the subject of that week’s poem…….any “A” word you wish for instance for next week, OR
  • You can write a poem about one of these PROMPT words for “A”      A poem about:    (1)  ants     (2)   anger   (3)   apples  (4)  ankles

I will be using a prompt but you can feel free to do as you have done and just use any subject for your poem starting with the letter of the week!!!!     How’s that sound?    Fun I hope!!!    So if you don’t want to use one of the prompts, you don’t have to!   Just have fun – WRITE A POEM – and share it with all of us!

Until Next Thursday!!!

Love, Angel Sammy (and zany Teddy…..)

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday All!

Happy Thursday!     It’s Thankful Thursday hosted by Brian at Brians Home Blog and YOU get a chance to tell the world what you’re thankful for.    This week I’m thankful for those of you who filled out Angel Sammy’s poll about Poetic Thursday – and we’ll talk more about that in a minute.   I’m also thankful for my friends – everyone is so kind and caring and it always shows but most especially when we’ve had so much loss of friends which we have had yet again lately.   Almost every day we get word of someone else crossing that Bridge……….it makes us sad even when we know those who are gone are no longer in pain, no longer feeling the effects of age, or some other problem…..we know their humans are sad to lose their “best friends”.     I wasn’t living here at the time with my Mom and Dad but I do know that they were SO thankful that everyone helped them adjust to life without my big brother Angel Sammy.    We hope TIME will help those who have experienced loss recently………..

If you would like to join in and tell everyone what you are thankful for – please click Brian’s badge above – you will be transported to his blog and you can join in the Blog Hop by using the LINKY tool.

Angel Sammy didn’t let me down (he never would do that!) because he transmitted to me overnight his poem for today’s Poetic Thursday poetry challenge.    Today is the letter “Y” and his poem follows this bit of info about our continuing with our Poetic Thursdays.

Remember the poll I conducted for Sammy’s Thursday Poetry Challenge?   Here are the results:

Sammy’s Poetry Challenge #2

Answer Votes Percent
When we last polled you, 75% of those responding said LET’S DO THE ALPHABET AGAIN….would you STILL like to do that? 11 73%
We asked you in October 2016 if you’d like to do something DIFFERENT for poetry day – if you would like that TELL US SO! Leave a suggestion for me or tell me in your comments!

4 27%

Now about the above Poll………………….we were happy to see that there were more votes for continuing with the Alphabet Challenge for poetry day but there were STILL four of you who wanted something different – – – – so we thought why not combine them?

Starting with NEXT week’s “Z” end of the alphabet poetic challenge, we will give you a choice what to write your poem about for the following Thursday.    We will use the alphabet for the FOUR choices!    Example:

FOR LETTER “A” I might say “write your poem using one of the below four choices as your subject”:

(1) Aardvark (2) Antarctica (3) Asteroid (4) Applesauce           What do you think?  Sound like a plan?   Next week you will have your usual Poetic Challenge though – whatever you want to write about starting with the letter “Z” goes……….but we will give you FOUR WORDS with next week’s post for us all to start with the following week – maybe I should use those “SAMPLE” words I just told you????    I’ll consult with Angel Sammy!

Greetings from the Rainbow Bridge my friends!   As promised, I transmitted this poem to my little brother Teddy last night in his dreams…….and he is sharing it with you on my behalf for Thoroughly Poetic Thursday!!!

“Y”

 “Yellow”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell, 6/1/17

Yellow is the shining sun

Yellow goldfinches having fun

Yellow buttercups in the breeze

Yellow lemon ice from the freeze!

Yellow grass turns green with lime

Yellow tarnish on silver over time

Yellow nip nanners are a kitty’s delight

Yellow moon shining in the sky at night

Yellow old love letters tucked away

Yellow sun hiding on a rainy day.

Thank you Angel Sammy………………..I look forward to your weekly “transmissions” of your poems AND to your continued guidance and love even though you are almost always at the Bridge now.   I enjoyed your visits and I’m sure you will from time to time but you are where you need to be now – and I will carry on taking care of Mom and Dad for BOTH of us!!!!

Now for some confessions………….Mom thinks I’m a crazy boy because I have totally destroyed the first “kitty cube” she got for me to play in…..I still have it mind you – but Mom got me a NEW one a while ago – a pretty blue one which is not receiving the degree of KITTY KRAZIES that the poor red one did.    So here’s the deal – I want to keep BOTH of them and I play in BOTH of them all the time – every single morning in fact.   Mom and I hang out in her office before Dad gets up and part of what we do is play like crazy in my cubes!

See how wonky the old one is – from me laying all over it and beating it up like mad – bunny kicking, biting, attacking, etc.???   I can’t help it – I love playing in it and using it as a launch pad to land inside the blue one.   Yes – this is part of growing up I guess – destroying toys and having fun!    Also that purple ribbon is my current FAVORITE toy.   I drag it all over the house – this morning Mom found it on her pillow and didn’t even know that I’d deposited it there in the middle of the night!    Tee Hee

Tomorrow is Friday!   We’ll be doing the Friendly Fill-In blog hop…………will you??????????????????

Love, Teddy the Tent Destroyer
