Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Double Post Day!

(First of all sorry for the confusion yesterday – Mom ACCIDENTALLY hit “publish” instead of SCHEDULE for this post and you got a notice a day early!   We quickly deleted it – but here it is again on the RIGHT DAY!!!!!!)

First part of my blog today is for THANKFUL THURSDAY.    Today I’m VERY thankful – Why?   Many things but today I’ll tell you just one reason – Spring is popping here finally.   As recently as one week ago we had a frost/freeze warning but for the last several days we’ve had WARM temps and the little leaf buds on the trees are bursting open in leaps and bounds!    Our pink dogwoods have pink blossoms and the little dwarf Japanese maple has leafed out – the maple was my FAVORITE spot to stay cool in the summer and we think Teddy has figured that out now too!

Front Garden 2012

Want to share what you are thankful about?   We are sharing by joining Brian’s THANKFUL THURSDAY blog hop………..all you have to do is click the badge, go to his blog, use the LINKY TOOL and enter your blog address – SHARE with all of us what you’re thankful for.  EASY!

Now for PART TWO of this post and that’s my Thoroughly Poetic Thursday post……………….this week we are up to the letter “R” in the alphabet so the poem needs to be about an “R” thing!

“R”

“Rabbit”

By Sammy Kimmell, April 13, 2017

It’s a well known Easter habit

Watching out for the Easter rabbit!

He comes when everyone is sleeping

On bunny feet he does all his creeping

He hides eggs around the house

He’s QUIET as a mouse!

Kids will carry their baskets around

To see how many eggs can be found!

Sometimes the bunny leaves candy –

The basket will sure come in handy –

For carrying around all your treasures….

Such fun is impossible to measure.

Easter Rabbit makes everyone SMILE

Makes older folks feel like a child.

The Easter holiday would not be complete

Without those visiting RABBIT feet!!

Next Thursday we will celebrate the letter “S” as we make our way to the end of the alphabet for the second time here on the blog!    I hope you will join us – it’s not too late to join in today – you can write a poem and put it in my comments OR if you have a poem done on your blog – leave us your link so we can HOP over and read it!    Try some poetry – you’ll be glad you did!!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thankful for Poetry!

Today is Thankful Thursday with Brian but as you know it’s also my Thoroughly Poetic Thursday………..If you click Brian’s badge, you will be transported to Brian’s blog where you can use the Linky Tool to enter your OWN blog post about what you are Thankful for…….

As for me and what I’m thankful for – today I’ll tell you that I’m THANKFUL for poetry!   My Mom has always written poetry – as far back as she can remember.   Mostly for herself but in later years she edited a book of poetry for a publisher and contributed some of her OWN poetry to the book as well.   One of the poems in the book was actually contributed by Maya Angelou.    That publisher has long been out of business but Mom says she met a LOT of wonderful other writers through that experience.    Poetry is a good way to talk about things you might otherwise NOT talk about or to tell a story with rhyme.     Anyway, her love of poetry led to us creating our Thoroughly Poetic Thursdays and some of you participate by writing your OWN poems and posting them HERE on my blog or giving us your blog link in my comments so we can FLY to your blog and read your poem!    We’re working our way through the alphabet for the second time – honoring a letter of the alphabet each week with a poem about something starting with the next letter………and today’s letter is “Q”!

“Q”

“Questions”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, 4/6/17

Cats ask questions ALL the time!

“Can I have more food?  Is this toy mine?”

Sometimes no words are needed, we have our way….

If we park in front of the door, do we REALLY have to say?

“Can I go outside?  Can I lie in the sun?”

“Can I chase the birds and have a ton of fun?”

If we sit by our food bowls it’s plain to see

Our question to you is “Can you please feed me?”

Questions are important – we know you ask them too!

Like…..

“How did I ever get along without YOU???”

Next week we’ll celebrate the letter “R”……………..and as we work our way to “Z” we’ll talk more about whether we should keep doing Poetry every week or some other fun thing we can do together!    Meanwhile, put your thinking caps on – oh – and don’t forget to ask a LOT of questions of your humans – they LOVE to talk so I’m sure they’ll be HAPPY to answer them!!!

Oui Oui, Mon Amis…..Je Suis Le Poet Extraordinaire!

Coming to you direct from my cloud at the Rainbow Bridge

Monsieur Sammy

Extra Extra Read All About It!

Teddy and I are Cat Scouts as you know – well Teddy is in the Scouts “CARDWOOD DERBY” Race and would REALLY appreciate it if you would VOTE for his fabulous Milk Truck (I know that sounds wacky but Scouts can be a bit wacky sometimes……the rules say you must post a photo of you INSIDE your vehicle AND  your vehicle has to be made using a cardboard box but it can be ANY kind of vehicle!!!!!)………Here’s Teddy and we wish we could show you ALL the cars but they are on the Cat Scouts site which you can’t see unless you’re a Scout.   Trust me – Teddy’s is the BEST (tee hee):

This is where you go to vote – There are THREE categories and of course Teddy is the BEST IN ALL THREE!!!!!    Trust me…….please consider voting for him!!

Voting is open thru April 10th – we’ll keep you posted!

Today is Thankful Thursday over at Brian’s and if you click the above badge, you will go to his blog and if you’d like to tell the world what you are THANKFUL for, use the linky tool and join in the blog hop!    I’m THANKFUL that my brother Angel Sammy is still guiding me from the Rainbow Bridge – I’m sure it’s why I’m never getting in trouble – after all, I’m a kitten and kittens usually get in trouble right?  Not me – I’ve got AN ANGEL ON MY SHOULDER!

It’s also my brother Angel Sammy’s THOROUGHLY POETIC THURSDAY today:

Thanks Teddy!

Today we celebrate the letter “P”

“Paws”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, 3/30/17

A kitty’s paws can say so much

A claw in anger or a loving touch

Our paws don’t just move us from here to there

They can tell a human how much we care

We touch your leg when we’re at your feet

A reminder that we’re THERE and ready for treats!

We need our paws to climb a tree

Must keep an eye on the neighbors dog you see!

We need our paws to play with our toys

If we give them a poke they might make a noise!

Some cats have special paws like ME

We are equipped POLYDACTYLY !

There you have it everybody…………..our Thursday “Double Bubble” post!     If you have written a poem for “P” like my brother Angel Sammy, you can either write your poem in OUR comments here on OUR blog or you can give us your blog link where we can read your poem there…………either way – why not write a poem today for fun?

Tomorrow is Shopping Around The World being guest hosted by our buddy Da Phenny.    Remember to post your recipe for a dessert or special yummy treat and link to Da Phenny’s blog and also to Bacon (our usual host for “Shopping”)  !    Tomorrow is also Friendly Fill-In Friday at McGuffy’s Reader and 15and Meowing – lots of fun with this hop as we learn more about each other!

Big Teddy Hugs,

and one from Angel Sammy too!

Double Blog Post Day!

Thursday is the day we are THANKFUL and the day we are POETIC so let’s get the show on the road………

First of all we can say that we are VERY thankful today – we’re thankful Spring is finally beginning to REALLY Spring after we had snow last week………we’re thankful that Teddy continues to keep all of us laughing our socks off every single day………we’re thankful that we got our brand new double wall ovens yesterday – that means Mom can make TWICE as much biscotti…….and we’re thankful that so many of YOU follow our blog and pawticipate in the fun like Saturday’s BACON HARVEST!    If you click on the badge below, it will take you to our host for Thankful Thursday – that’s Brian!!  You can go there and using the linky tool enter your OWN blog post to share why you are thankful.

Now for Part Two – our Thoroughly Poetic Thursday poem….

Today we are writing a poem about something starting with the letter “O” !

We are slowly but surely getting close to the end of the alphabet………..we might do something DIFFERENT after we make it to “Z” since we’ve done the alphabet twice now.    We can talk about that later though – right now let’s see what we can come up with for “O”!

“O”

“Orange”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell 3/23/17

Orange is a “lively” color, full of sunshine fun

Perfect for a kitten who lives his life on a full-out run!

The energy he has is amazing and so fun to see

Reminds me for sure of a very young ME.

He flies around the house, up and down all three floors of stairs

He has no regard for SAFETY so I keep him in my prayers!

For Teddy there are only two speeds – “rocket launch” and “sleep” –

His kitten brain is always working but his thoughts aren’t really deep!

He plays and eats and plays some more until he’s had his fill.

Mom has said she wishes the energy he has was available in a PILL !!

One thing’s for sure, our orange boy has brightened up the gloom

His “orange glow” lights up the night in every single room.

Adopting Teddy was OH SO RIGHT, my Mom and Dad did well…..

I set the stage for another orange boy…….now I can rest a spell…………

YAY – we squeezed out an “O” poem and I must say that I know someone ELSE who used “ORANGE” for their “O” today and it’s my new pal Cooper Murphy Blue at The Cat On My Head!   Cooper is a ginger boy like Teddy and the new boy in the household at Kitties Blue.    He also knows all about orange so we thought we’d both do ORANGE today.    If YOU want to pawticipate in Poetry Day, you can write your poem right here in my comments to share with everyone OR, leave us your blog link in my comments so we can come visit you and read your ODE TO O !!!

A reminder that my BACON BASH is Saturday………………..TODAY is the deadline to send in a photo of yourself in harvest gear if you want to but again – it’s not a requirement – just come to the party on Saturday and enjoy yourself and the “bounty” of the bacon greenhouse.    Those who want to send me a photo of yourselves in harvest clothes will be in the “HARVESTERS LINEUP” Mom and I will do so everyone can see you in your harvesting GARB!    We will be having a ton of fun and the party is ALL DAY so no matter when you stop by, you’ll be able to enjoy yourselves!

Questions about the Harvest Party?   Just ask……………we’ll get back to you!!    Meanwhile, HAPPY THURSDAY EVERYBODY!

Happy Thursday !!

It’s Double Post Day Again!

One blog post for two occasions………Brian’s Thankful Thursday and my very own Thoroughly Poetic Thursday.    So let the fun begin………..first with Brian’s Thankful Thursday – the badge below will whisk you away to his blog if you’d like to join up with this blog hop and talk about what you are THANKFUL for…….I’m thankful that even though my little brother Teddy is slowly taking over the reins of what used to be “my” blog, and some of “my” duties like KING OF BACON – I can still not be jealous but instead be PROUD of him for carrying on the traditions that I started.   Teddy is a super sweet kitty and he wears his “GINGER” very well if I do say so myself!

Part Two of today’s post is my poem of the week……………!

My words are in RED    Teddy’s words are in BLUE

We are up to the letter “N” of the alphabet slowly working our way to Z !  You can join in by putting your blog link with your poem in my comments to share OR just write your poem in my comments and we’ll all read it here!

“N”

NEVER

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, 3/16/17

“Never say never” is a saying I like

Learning to be hopeful is like riding a bike

There are bumps in the road and you might take a fall

But at the end of your ride, it will be worth it all.

If you feel like it’s “never” then you might as well give up

You must believe in HALF FULL not HALF EMPTY for your cup

Hope is the oil that keeps all things on track

In our hearts, in our minds, we just shouldn’t look back

For thinking “NEVER” means that you won’t even try

You won’t look beyond the clouds at the beautiful blue sky…..

So never say never…..keep a smile on your face

You might pull out in front and WIN your life’s race!

Hey Sammy, that was a swell poem!   I promise I will NEVER say NEVER!   But I do want to remind our blog friends that this Saturday we will have more information on the upcoming BACON HARVEST PARTY………..details and some “photo op” shots that those of you who want to pawticipate in the party can use to put yourself in the action!   You’ll see what I mean Saturday so STAY TUNED.    We’re going to have a fabulous time!   How could it NOT be fabulous – the Ginger Boys are at the helm of the GOOD SHIP BACONIA!

Oui, Oui, Mon frere Teddy…..we will have fun at the pawty

and

I thank everyone for joining us today for our DOUBLE POST Thursday!

Bonjour mon amis!

POETRYSAMBADGE

Today we are writing poems that are about something beginning with the letter “K” !

“K”

“Krispy Kreme”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell 2-23-17

What a delicious dream

Is a donut from Krispy Kreme

Mom can’t just walk by them

She simply HAS to buy some!

At home she finds a spot

Where Dad thinks they are not

It is a sinful need

Perhaps it might be greed!

But she hoards them like a treasure

Tasty goodness such a pleasure!

When she eats one she gets a smile

When at last they are no more

She will travel back to the store

And begin all over again……..

With her TASTY, KRISPY sin !!

♥♥

“I”

“Introoooooders”

Angel Sammy Kimmell, 2/9/2017

One of the things that we do

For most of us this rings true…….

Is guard our humans from spies

And those nasty introooooder guys!

Squirrels, chipmunks, skunks and birds –

Apparently they didn’t get the word –

That WE are defending our humans and homes

So they’d be wise to find other places to roam!

We bark, hiss or whine to warn them to leave

Some will listen but some don’t believe!

So we run tell our humans that we need them to help

That the introooders will not listen to our hiss, whine or yelp!

When will they all learn what we all seem to know – –

They just are not welcome so it’s time that they GO!

(Below are some of my introoders of the past……!)

Oh we’re sure moving through the alphabet quickly………….I may come up with a NEW challenge after we get to “Z” this time around……….so stay tuned!    We have a long way to go to get there!

Happy Thursday From My Cloud!

Hats

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, 2/2/2017

I love hats

Hats are where it’s at

My favorite berets are green and red

AND, I wear a stocking cap to bed!

Hats keep heads warm

Cold days or in a snow storm!

Hats reflect our mood

Show our style and attitude!

Hats are for any season….

Or to wear for ANY reason.

If you want to be “where it’s at”

You’d better wear a HAT!

♥♥♥

YAY FOR HATS!

“G”

“Gardens”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, 1/26/2017

When I was young – a little kitten

With Mom’s plants outside I was quite smitten

I’d leap around like a crazy cat

I’d hide from Mom she really loved that!

My ginger head popped up here and there

Mom never quite knew when or where!

As I got older I learned to be calm.

Just watching the butterflies was my soothing balm.

Oh yes I’d chase them from time to time

But Mom allowed that – it wasn’t a crime!

Then came the day when I’d lie in the shade

By then the “fate” of our gardens was made.

The deer had discovered this bountiful treat

Everything Mom planted, the deer would eat!

So in the shade I’d stay with my nose in the air

I had not a worry, I had not a care.

Mom quit planting flowers it became too much work

The deer came along and pull out plants with a jerk…..!

So in my old age I’d simply sit by Mom

We both would relax, and enjoy all the calm.

At the Rainbow Bridge we have flowers and green

But my old back yard was the PRETTIEST place that I’ve ever seen.

Nice to stop and smell the roses....I mean mums!

I hope I’ll see you all NEXT Thursday when we do “H”…………I wonder what I’ll come up with for THAT one!    Come to think of it, I wonder what YOU’LL come up with too!!!!!

“Fun”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, 1/19/17

Fun is what we all enjoy

Whether catnip or a brand new toy

Doesn’t matter – we love it all

Cats are made for fun; it is our “call” !

We’re born to play, and we do it well

Although we stop to rest a spell!

We fly around like crazy YES

Destroy the house and leave a mess!

Our humans love to watch us run, run, run

It’s all a part of having FUN.

Mom and Dad loved watching me play with my toys and run up and down the stairs………….of course when I got older and my arthritis began acting up I really didn’t do much playing or running but one thing I did manage….and I did this until the last time I was outside with my Mom a week before I went to the Bridge…….it ALWAYS made her laugh and hug me.   I did it since I was TEENY TINY.    I would be snuffling around in the leaves or walking around in the yard (always with human snoopervision though) and Mom would stoop down and call me and I would run fast as my little legs would carry me right up to Mom………I just loved coming to her and hearing her tell me what a good boy I was……she’d usually scoop me up and carry me back into the house………gosh that was truly what I would call………………………..FUN!    I miss that………a lot.

Now, let me hear YOUR “F” poem and next week we’ll be tackling “G”!
