Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Greetings everyone. Mom is still a little wobbly…….OK……maybe a LOT wobbly…..so this will be a shorter than usual thankful and poetic post today. Sitting at the computer is shall we say LESS THAN COMFORTABLE right now.   She’s missed all of you though so I am allowing her (as her CHIEF OF CAT STAFF) to do a post for today.    We didn’t want to miss out on being thankful for the fact she made it through surgery with just a few bumps and that she’s recovering slowly but surely (with my help of course).     She had the very best orthopedic surgeon and the very best hospital care and these last days has had physical therapy and home health nurses at the house so she’s WELL looked after.      We are thankful she has a new hip and once she and her hip come to an understanding about discomfort, things should be just fine!

Also we’re happy she was able to get up and about in time to enjoy Angel Sammy’s poem for this week.     We are attaching it below and hope that you have written a poem for the cute squirrel photo he gave us as inspiration last week.

♥♥♥

Hi Poetic Friends!

I just couldn’t let Mom get away with not posting for Poetic Thursday – so here we are.   Might be a short-ish post but at least we’re here to share.     Last week’s photo was a favorite – we happen to love squirrels around here – not just at the Rainbow Bridge but right there where you all are – they keep us laughing, keep us on our toes with their antics, and just make us smile sometimes when nothing else can.

Here’s the photo from last week followed by my poem:

“Hello World!”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©January 20, 2021

OK you guys we’d better make this trip fast

Mom’s gone acorn shopping but that won’t last!

She said we had to stay home and no leaving the nest

But she didn’t say “no peeking allowed” while she’s on her quest.

It’s a really big world out here and one day we’ll get to explore

But until we get a little bigger her advice we shouldn’t ignore

So everybody back inside and look as innocent as can be

One day soon we’ll be old enough we can truly run free!

Mom and Teddy quite often see VERY small squirrels just sitting on a tree branch or hanging on the side of a tree.   They are usually just looking around – kind of looking a little bit lost.   They are probably doing just what these little guys were doing…….sneaking a peek.    Checking out the great big world.    One day they will be old enough to really explore – run and jump and leap from branch to branch while Mom worries and hopes they come home for dinner!

I hope you had fun writing a poem to go with these little ones……………………….if you did let us know in comments so we can read it!      I have a photo for you for NEXT Thursday.  By next week I think my Mom will be feeling a whole lot better.    Taking pain medication doesn’t necessarily mean “writing good poetry” so perhaps she will be able to write a more cohesive poem next week if she doesn’t need as much help with her pain.

Here’s next week’s photo:

Familiar?   I Love Lucy had a lot of hilarious moments but when Ethel and Lucy went to work in a candy factory – well – you just HAD to know something would happen right?    Have fun writing a poem for this photo!

Just a note from me (and Teddy) to thank all of you for all your wonderful emails, notes, cards, etc. while Mom was having her surgery and resting up after the surgery.    This will be a “process” and she’s by no means ready to run a marathon but she’s doing well with her walker and cane and in a couple of weeks she will be able to get around without them we hope.   Meanwhile, she is having to rest a whole lot, having Physical Therapy which is exhausting, and trying to away away from sitting hours at the computer.   SO, she will be back to blogging full time before you know it!   One thing we do know about our Mom – she WANTS to be blogging.     She misses all of you and your blogs.    She could never “catch up” on all she’s missed but she will leap back in and try to get back in the groove – yep – she’s like that!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

See you next week everyone!   We’ve missed you!

Hugs, Angel Sammy

Hi Angel Sammy…….thanks for being here this week.   Mom did her best and I tried to help.     We’re just happy to see you again……….thanks for being Mom’s “Nurse Angel” while she was in the hospital and for helping me take care of her here at home!!!

Love, Teddy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Woo Hoo!   Thursday already – time for us to be thankful “out loud” and also time to see what Angel Sammy has sent us for his Thursday Poetic Thursday post.    If you’d like to join in Brian’s Thankful Hop – click his badge above and link up.

Our thankfulness continues with Mom and Dad still feeling fine.    They are grateful that they ARE fine considering how widespread and “growing” the pandemic is.    Mom and Dad are doing all the right things though so hopefully they will stay safe until the day finally arrives that we are FREE of the worry.

We’re thankful as always too that Angel Sammy – who we know keeps an eye on us and always will – has sent us his weekly email containing his latest poem and a new photo for all of us to write a poem for NEXT week!!

“Happy Poetic Thursday!”

Here we are on another Thursday to talk poetry.    I hope you aren’t tired of the whole exercise of writing a poem a week based on a photo………I think it’s fun myself to have a “theme” for writing a poem.    I’ll continue doing it as long as some of you play along and enjoy writing a poem.    I love reading your poems!

Here’s the photo I gave you LAST Thursday to use for THIS Thursday’s poem…………with my poem following:

“Tempting Treats”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell        ©September 30, 2020

Oh my goodness an endless array of tempting treats

Who wouldn’t want to raid the shelves for something yummy to eat!

Chocolate, fruit, icing, filling and more

I wish my house was right next door!

Who could look at this display and not start to pant?

I can resist most temptations but this one I sure can’t!

Alright – confession time – I allowed my Mom to “influence” this poem as she has a very difficult time walking by something like dessert tray in a restaurant or a bakery without letting her eyes take in every little details and morsel…………and while MOST of the time she does “just walk on by” she sometimes allows herself a sinful little treasure to take home and enjoy.   Does she share with Dad?   Nope!    HAHAHA

Now – did you write a poem?   If you did, let us know – this was a fun one to put words to so I hope you wrote something even if it’s short and SWEET (haha) like mine is!

Here’s your photo inspiration for NEXT Thursday’s poem…………hope you will join in the fun even if you haven’t ever written a poem before!

Yes indeed – it happens – all the time too.   Pups and cats getting along famously.     But there’s a lot of messages in a photo like this and it’s our job as poets to interpret the messages in poetic form – give it a whirl !!!

Until next Thursday when we share poems again – stay positive – stay healthy – and stay STRONG…………………

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love from Angel Sammy at the Rainbow Bridge

Thanks Angel Sammy……..I like that poem and I am SURE that if I had a chance to meet a puppy up close we could be BEST BUDDIES!

Hugs to everyone, Teddy

HAPPY THURSDAY!   Time to be thankful for things – celebrate together that we are HERE, we are hopefully healthy, we are moving one step at a time FORWARD – and any other things that you are thankful for.     We’re super thankful here that while we’ve had some rather big storms with some hail we haven’t lost power, haven’t lost any outside plants or big trees (or limbs) and that the three of us – me, Mom and Dad – are HEALTHY.

I also always celebrate Angel Sammy’s poetic efforts and message – and sure enough – here it is!

♥♥♥

Here we are – another Thursday arrives!

I look forward to this little bit of time I have with you all every week to share some poetry.    It’s a FUN event since we are all using ONE PHOTO to come up with a poem.   Interesting what WE see compared to what our friends see in a photo isn’t it?

Here’s the poem I gave you all LAST week to use for today’s poem:

“It’s A Small World”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©August 26, 2020

Tiny gardens crafted by creative minds

Do fairies exist?   Look for the signs……

Well tended plants and manicured greenery

I know fairy gardeners enjoy the scenery!

I’m sure at night when humans are asleep

With their tiny tools in hand through their gardens they creep

Trimming and snipping and watering the plants

Shooing away caterpillars and those pesky ants

At least with a tiny garden I would have no fear

That my garden would be devoured by a herd of hungry deer!

My Mom used to garden outside but the deer and other wildlife felt that if it was OUTSIDE – it was in THEIR world.    So now Mom gardens in big pots on our back deck and front porch and it’s easier to take care of AND not “raided” by criters!      One of these days I am sure she will create a fairy garden – there are so many interesting tiny plants to “populate” a tiny garden with.

Now – did you write a poem?   Did you?   Good – tell us you did and give us your link.   If you haven’t written one – why not?    Give it a try…………you might just enjoy it.

Time for me to go now but I want to remind all of you that Angels are watching……………….protecting you as best we can from afar.     Stay safe…………do the RIGHT THING.    OK?  I’ll see you next Thursday for another poem – and we’ll see what you can do with this photo as your inspiration:

Love this photo – hope you do too – let’s see what you can do with it next week in poetry form OK?   I’ll give it a whirl too.   Until then…………………..

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love from the Bridge, Angel Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy………….you made me happy just hearing from you!   I’ll look forward to next week…………………….Love you always.

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Thursday!  Time for all of us who participate in Brian’s Blog Hop to share what we are thankful for this week.    If you want to play along, click the badge above and link up with us won’t you?    I am super thankful that we actually got a couple of raindrops this week – two days we had lots of noisy thunder and some decent rain but each of the two events lasted about 15 minutes.   Not enough to break the drought OR do much for all the outside stuff like grass, trees, and shrubs!    Oh well………it’s summer.   Guess we should be happy we got ANY “wet” at all.    I’m also very thankful that my Mom and Dad are still healthy – I am keeping a CLOSE EYE on them believe me!

I also got to be thankful that Angel Sammy’s email with his poem for this week arrived.   Let’s see what he’s got to say shall we?

♥♥♥

Time for Thursday Poetry!!

Hello friends…………….hope you are all hanging in there and making sure you are taking care of yourselves as best you can.   Staying safe – using your masks – socially distancing AND washing your hands or paws!!    If you’re doing that then GOOD ON YOU!

Last week’s poems for the little baby eating watermelon were so adorable…………but I have a feeling the poems for THIS week are going to be really fun too.    So let’s get this party started shall we?    Here’s your photo that I gave you last week to use for today’s poem:

“Uh Oh!”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©July 29, 2020

Wouldn’t you know this would happen Tom?

On our way to the Senior prom?

All dressed up and we get a flat tire

We’ll probably get there just under the wire!

Now don’t get grease on your new dress pants

You’ll smear it all over ME when we’re having a dance!

Don’t worry though – it’s really not that tragic

Our Senior Prom night will still be MAGIC!

Nice that she didn’t heap too much angst on poor Tom – after all it wasn’t HIS fault they had a flat!   Talk about bad timing though.     Anyway, these two will have a wonderful evening – one of those that every human remembers always – and the flat tire will make for a really FUNNY story they can tell their kids and grandkids many years from now (assuming they survive the Prom and decide to “get hitched”!!)

Now here’s the photo I found for all of us to use to write a poem for NEXT Thursday……………..I hope you’ll participate with me – Poetic Thursday is just a pile of fun!

Mom has a friend who will love this photo I know – she’s a horse aficionado and this is a very beautiful photo indeed.    But what kind of a mood will you use for your poem for this photo everyone?   It’s rather dreamy but is she out to give her dogs exercise or is she part of a hunting party or is she meeting someone special in a clearing in the woods?????

It’s up to you to figure that part out.    I’ll have my poem ready for you next Thursday and I hope you have fun with this one………………..

Take care everyone – keep safe and well.    It’s a MUST!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love always, Angel Teddy

Hi Folks…………and a hearty THANKS to Brian for hosting the THANKFUL THURSDAY Hop.    I can only say that I’m thankful that so far my Mom and Dad are well……….and that as far as we know, while there are virus cases in our County, there are none reported yet in  our town.    Mom and Dad are staying SAFE AS CAN BE.   I’m making sure of that!      If you want to share your thankfuls with us – click the badge above and go to the Hop to link up.

STAY SAFE EVERYONE………………………..

Also thankful Angel Sammy (who does not have a STAY AT HOME order!) is keeping watch over us and sending us some poetry to keep us smiling.    I always love to hear from him.   We hope you do too.    Below is his email and poem.

Hello From The Rainbow Bridge!

We are super duper busy up here……………..we are spending time trying to keep an eye on all of you – it’s what Angels do.    We know that the Human Angels are doing the same.   Trust us – we are doing our best to keep as many of you safe as we can but even this is something way beyond our ability to totally PROTECT you – so for that reason – PLEASE DO WHAT YOU ARE REQUESTED TO DO AND STAY HOME.    If you have to go out, STAY SAFE.

I hope you took your extra time at home to write a poem this week?    I look for photos that I think might inspire you – and I also write one based on the photo then we come HERE on Thursdays to share.   If you wrote a poem please let us know in comments so we can VISIT YOU to read it!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week along with my poem:

“Home Sweet Home”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©April 2, 2020

The years have passed – so many in number

Since Great Grandpa cut trees to make his own lumber

The house he built has withstood the test of time

Though some boards are rotting and are covered in grime

Life came and went within these four walls

The ghosts of my relatives wander the halls

One magical thing remains though from days of yore

The welcome wreath Great Granny made is still on the door……..

My Mom and Dad pass old cabins and houses like this out in the country all the time………..Mom wonders if they are occupied by ghosts of all those who lived in them and if they were generations of the same family or if people came and went as time passed.    When I was looking for a photo for this week the very first thing I saw IN this photo wasn’t the age on the house or the falling apart bench on the front porch or even the beautiful tin roof……………it was that wreath on the front door.    “Welcome All You Who Need Shelter”……………..and I think this old house was that for MANY through the years.

Here’s the photo I found for you all (and me!) to use as our inspiration for NEXT Thursday’s Poetic Thursday…………….you have a whole week to think about it and write a poem to share next week……………….

Oh boy – this will definitely inspire some INTERESTING poetry don’t you think?    Well as I said you have a whole week to see what you can come up with……………good luck!    I’ll look forward to reading your poems.

Keep the faith everyone…………………do as recommended to stay safe………………and be thankful for what you have not what you “can’t have” right now OK?

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love from the Rainbow Bridge……..Angel Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy for the good advice, the encouragement from all of you Angels at the Bridge, and for sending me your poem for the week.    We’ll look forward to hearing from you again next Thursday if not before – – – – in my dreams!
