Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

HAPPY THURSDAY!   Time to be thankful for things – celebrate together that we are HERE, we are hopefully healthy, we are moving one step at a time FORWARD – and any other things that you are thankful for.     We’re super thankful here that while we’ve had some rather big storms with some hail we haven’t lost power, haven’t lost any outside plants or big trees (or limbs) and that the three of us – me, Mom and Dad – are HEALTHY.

I also always celebrate Angel Sammy’s poetic efforts and message – and sure enough – here it is!

♥♥♥

Here we are – another Thursday arrives!

I look forward to this little bit of time I have with you all every week to share some poetry.    It’s a FUN event since we are all using ONE PHOTO to come up with a poem.   Interesting what WE see compared to what our friends see in a photo isn’t it?

Here’s the poem I gave you all LAST week to use for today’s poem:

“It’s A Small World”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©August 26, 2020

Tiny gardens crafted by creative minds

Do fairies exist?   Look for the signs……

Well tended plants and manicured greenery

I know fairy gardeners enjoy the scenery!

I’m sure at night when humans are asleep

With their tiny tools in hand through their gardens they creep

Trimming and snipping and watering the plants

Shooing away caterpillars and those pesky ants

At least with a tiny garden I would have no fear

That my garden would be devoured by a herd of hungry deer!

My Mom used to garden outside but the deer and other wildlife felt that if it was OUTSIDE – it was in THEIR world.    So now Mom gardens in big pots on our back deck and front porch and it’s easier to take care of AND not “raided” by criters!      One of these days I am sure she will create a fairy garden – there are so many interesting tiny plants to “populate” a tiny garden with.

Now – did you write a poem?   Did you?   Good – tell us you did and give us your link.   If you haven’t written one – why not?    Give it a try…………you might just enjoy it.

Time for me to go now but I want to remind all of you that Angels are watching……………….protecting you as best we can from afar.     Stay safe…………do the RIGHT THING.    OK?  I’ll see you next Thursday for another poem – and we’ll see what you can do with this photo as your inspiration:

Love this photo – hope you do too – let’s see what you can do with it next week in poetry form OK?   I’ll give it a whirl too.   Until then…………………..

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love from the Bridge, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thank you Angel Sammy………….you made me happy just hearing from you!   I’ll look forward to next week…………………….Love you always.

Hugs, Teddy

    • HAHAHA…..well, if I did make one of those gardens (and I’m thinking about that!) I’d have it up on my deck away from all critters……I can just imagine me taking care of it with a tiny pair of scissors to trim and neaten things up…..it would be fun!!

  1. We are thankful here too…for health…and good times with family…pawppy is working half dsays now, he just cannot get up to speed in the mornings, yet. He has less pain, and can walk a bit better….so progress is good, and we are thankful. We saw both sons on the 26th, it was the younger son’s birthday a few days ago, so we had a special dinner for him…and I got kicked out of the Oncologists office…well, it was my request that my followup checkups be done here instead of at their office, (50 miles away…), and the labs can be done here as well…I get those checked every 6 months…for the CA125marker.

Here is my not too wonderful ditty for this week:

    A planter quite tall,
    Filled to the brim;
    With pretty plants that sprawl,
    But look! A wee house!
    So very small-
    It must be for a fairy;
    Or a fancy rich mouse!

  2. That is a lovely poem for sweet little fairy garden, Angel Sammy.
Because we hedged and fenced the complete garden so the boys could go out whenever they wanted to without escaping, it also means that no marauding animals (deer and rabbits) can get in and decimate it.

    • You’re right! You must believe and I think they are already in your yard watching over you – they followed you from Tiny Casa! Next week’s photo makes me smile……and makes my heart happy.

  3. My mommy also does container gardening. She has sadly had to atop feeding the birds except the hummingbirds, because deer and squirrels, especially squirrels, ate all the seed.

    • We love love love your poem dear Binky………we have been in a strange weather pattern for a month or more – HOT HOT HOT and humid all day then a pretty bad storm in late afternoon/early evening. High wind and eveyrthing for about 15-20 minutes then it’s gone. Very strange and I do NOT like thunder. I hide. Yes I’m a “scaredy cat” !!!!!

      Hugs, Teddy ❤

    • I imagine it would be a dandy snack for a deer – or even squirrels – even if we made one of those and put it on our deck the squirrels would be like a band of marauders I bet!!

    • Hi Gang!! Great little poem and it wouldn’t surprise me if Mr. Gnome’s name was Jerome! Mom really is thinking it might be fun to do one of these gardens…..we have a broken birdbath that might make a good elevated Fairy Garden – a project for another day – maybe next year when Mom can go to a nursery for plants without worrying about this stupid virus!! You guys stay SAFE OK????

  9. What a tender moment next week’s photo captures!!!

That’s a super poem about the small garden. We have the same problem here with rabbits and some deer and foxes. Our one tomato plant survives but only because it sits up on our deck where those critters don’t come.

    • Glad you liked the poem……..I quit gardening partly because we don’t have fencing – big property would require big fence – AND we border a wooded area. The deer just walk through everyone’s yard eating what they can – including all my vegetables and flowers and some shrubs! I love the deer though – so beautiful. My gardens are on my deck and porch and that’s that!

      Hugs, Pam
