Sunday Selfie Hop

Standard

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY !

It’s Sunday and time for the Selfie Hop with The Cat On My Head.    You can post your selfie in the Hop too if you click on the badge above and link up with us.

As almost everyone knows, we are all hoping that the missing member of the Blue household – Sawyer – who has been gone for a whole week now – will return home after his escape.    He ran out the door and just kept going – going where?   Nobody knows and in spite of Herculean efforts on the part of his family to find him still no sign of him.

Our SELFIE today really isn’t a SELFIE – at least not a SELFIE of me – it’s a SELFIE of Sawyer………….I made a badge to put on our blog sidebar yesterday and because he’s at the TOP of our minds every single day, I’m using the badge as our SELFIE this Sunday.

And because I didn’t want to make a puzzle out of sweet Sawyer, I’m using a PATRIOTIC selfie of me instead……………….Hope you enjoy your July 4th celebration here in the USA and hope you enjoy the puzzle too!

Bakin’ With Bacon on July 4th!

Standard

Happy Independence Day USA – Welcome to the Land of Baconia – let’s cook up a treat!

Now if this doesn’t sound and look good then I don’t know what does……………..YES it has a lot of mushrooms in it and an “ample” amount of bacon but hey – we’re bacon-a-holics right?   Oh heck – just give it a try – it’s incredibly good and if my Dad (who is Mr. Picky) likes it then everyone will.

Mushroom Bacon Paprikash

Ingredients

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium onion sliced
  • 2 clove garlic minced
  • 1/2 lb bacon chopped
  • 1 lb mushrooms sliced
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup sour cream
  • 12 ounces egg noodles cooked

Instructions

  1. Saute the bacon in a fry pan until starts to get a little crispy.
  2. Drain a little of the bacon grease off and add the butter, onions, and garlic. Keep cooking until the onions start to get clear.
  3. Add the mushrooms to the skillet. Keep cooking and stirring the bacon, onion, mushroom mixture for another 3-4 minutes.
  4. Add the tomato paste, paprika and salt to the mixture. Let it simmer for about 5 minutes or so.
  5. Take the mixture off the heat and stir in the sour cream.
  6. Finally, put some the noodles on a plate, spoon the bacon mushroom mixture over the noodles and ENJOY!

Those of you celebrating the 4th – stay home and celebrate quietly if you can!   Going out?   Wear a mask and don’t get in a crowd.    Humans must do the right thing – we NEED you to stay healthy – you are our SAFETY NET – you are our “Forever Home”………

Love, Teddy King of Baconia!

My Wins from Friends!

In the past few weeks I’ve been the very lucky recipient of two fabulous drawings for giveaways by my friends………………the first one was a wonderful Kitti Kubbi cat bed from Kitty Cat Chronicles which is one of the most amazingly crafted beds/hidey spots EVER.    I ordered it courtesy of Kitty Cat Chronicles on Amazon and the one I got was the teal/white one which is adorable!    Now this is NOT me sitting in this bed – Mom can’t seem to catch me IN IT when she has her camera……..but this guy models it so well on Amazon (don’t you love his expression) that I decided to let HIM show  it off anyway!

CATCUBBISAM

Here’s the descriptive info from Amazon:

The KittiKubbi is carefully handcrafted from 100% all-natural wool by artisans in Nepal. Using an ancient fabrication technique called felting, every cat bed is individually molded using only soap, water, and pressure. The cat bed is free from harsh chemicals and synthetic fabrics and is safe and non-toxic both for your furry friend and for the environment. The bed can be used as a cozy hideaway or flattened into a relaxing padded mat. KittiKubbi is durable and stays clean as wool naturally repels odor, dirt, and stains.

Thank you Miss Emily and everyone at Kitty Cat Chronicles………….I am beyond thrilled!

Then a week ago I heard from Miss Layla at Cat Wisdom 101 that my name was drawn at random to receive a prize package that we’d chosen out of the many Miss Layla was offering on her website……….we loved all the wonderful prize packages that were up for this “bonanza” giveaway but when she mentioned that Merlin loved the treats that were part of this particular giveaway package – well – I just HAD to try for that one and we won!   Just look at all the fabulous stuff that was in the box I got two days ago!

I was a little overwhelmed!

I was a little overwhelmed!

WOW! So many things came!

WOW! So many things came!

Thank you Miss Layla and Miss Emily – you made this old guy’s heart happy – getting two great prizes put a little ZIP in my step and I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

Thank You Friends!

Love, Sammy

Independence Day Teaser Tell All!

Standard

Hi Peeps!  And to all my USA fans, from my family to yours:

HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY!

Here’s how Mom decorated our house for Independence Day……

Past the flag colored windsock in the oak tree towards the front porch!

On the front porch is that shiny, flappy, noisy flag banner thing she gets out for all “patriotic occasions” around here!  After she took this shot she added a big red/white/blue bow to the porch post…..

Sam And The July Fourth Banner

I’m already wondering if it will be noisy with fireworks around here tonight or quiet because everyone has gone to the BIG fireworks in Washington, DC.  I promise I won’t complain either way though because I’m a PATRIOTIC KITTY!

Now onward to the OTHER part of this blog post which is the Tuesday Teaser Tell All!

Here’s the photo again:

I’m happy to say some of you recognized this to be BUDAPEST, HUNGARY!  YAY!

My parents were at the last stop on their cruise of the Danube River which started in Prague and ended in Budapest.  This shot was taken from the top deck of the ship as they arrived in Budapest EARLY one morning.  Once the ship docked they had breakfast on board then they went ashore and walked through the shopping district BUT it was too early for the shops to be open!  Soon there were shopkeepers putting displays out, setting up tables and chairs in the cafes, and the place got crowded with people.  My parents bought some Christmas decorations, Mom got a beautiful scarf for herself, and they got two small framed paintings of Budapest (which are on the vacation photo wall which I’ll show you one day in another blog!).   The next morning the tour company took everybody to the airport in Budapest where EVENTUALLY they departed for Prague, then London, then home to ME!  But not before they had some excitement in the airport in Budapest – – – there was a bomb scare!  EEEK!  Needless to say, someone had just left a suitcase behind accidentally in the security area but talk about confusion (plus nobody spoke English!)……

But enough of that story – wanna know who guessed right?

You guys get:

A BIG SAMMY HUG

Concatulations to everyone who guessed right……it was NOT an easy guess either as there weren’t a lot of hints.  BRAVO – I bet you’re already looking forward to next Tuesday – right??

Happy Independence Day USA’ers and Happy Wednesday to ALL!
