Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Thursday again?   Time flies!    Time for the Thankful Hop sponsored by my buddy Brian – and you can be part of the fun – click the badge above, link up and tell us what you’re thankful for.

My thankful is that my Dad has decided when HE is my “guardian” outside when I go, he will let me stay out a WHOLE HOUR AND A HALF!    I could stay out there forever probably but never will because it’s too dangerous for me without snoopervision BUT he will stay out longer than my Mom will.    When Mom takes me out I know if I’m extra lucky it will be 45 minutes.    I know – I hear you saying that’s plenty of time – but it’s not.   I could watch squirrels and birds forever!!!    Anyway, Dad’s a trooper – he doesn’t mind being out longer than my Mom.   Mom says she has things she”needs” to do inside.   Yeah – sure Mom!

So there you have it – a lot of my Thankful Thursdays revolve around ME being outside – this one is no exception.  My “outdoor pass” is longer with Dad!

I’m also thankful I got Angel Sammy’s poem……………..are you ready to read it with me?

Hello Poets and “Poets-to-be” !!

Thursday and time to share our poems we’ve written this past week based on the photo I gave you.    I doubt we have any new peeps reading this blog but just in case, every Thursday I transmit a poem to my little brother Teddy from the Rainbow Bridge with a poem I’ve written based on a photo that I give everyone who tunes in here on Thursdays.   It gives you a WHOLE WEEK to come up with a poem based on the photo – how does it make you feel?  What do you think about when you see the photo?   I try to give you INTERESTING photos.     Lots of you participate and write a poem – share your link where we can read your poem………..I love it !!!!     Today I’ll share my poem with you based on the photo from last week AND will give you another photo that you will have a whole week to look at and write a poem about for NEXT THURSDAY.

Got it?    Good!   Let’s go………….here’s the photo I gave you last week followed by MY poem inspired by the photo:

“No Thanks…..I’ll Walk!”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©August 14, 2019

Acres of people end to end and nose to nose

I’m sure a lot of them have “stepped on toes” !

A crowd like that just can’t be good

Glad this train station isn’t in my neighborhood!

This many people all needing a ride?

This is no “trickle” it’s a “flooding tide” !

I sure won’t be on time – when I told my friend I’d be there

But if I stand in these lines, I’ll get WHITE hair!

In a crowd like this you can’t hear yourself talk

NO THANKS MR. TRAIN – I BELIEVE I’LL WALK!

Imagine being in this crowd.    The photo above that we used for our inspiration this week was taken in London during a “tube” strike.    We all rely on good public transportation but when something breaks down it REALLY breaks down!    Here are two more photos of crowded stations:

In China

                           In India

Anyway, I hope you liked my poem and I can’t WAIT to read yours!     I have another photo for you to think about for NEXT week’s poetic fun on Thursday.

Oh boy – this one will be fun don’t you think?    We’ll see how things turn out NEXT Thursday when I visit you again to see your poem and share mine.    Give it a try – you will enjoy creating a poem from a photo.   There’s some cool things about this photo so GO FOR IT!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

With Love From The Rainbow Bridge………Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thank you Angel Sammy…………..We send love to all of our family and friends who are with you at the Rainbow Bridge…………………………..we’ll see you one day……………….

  1. You know, as fun as I mentioned riding in the back of a pickup truck was last week… I think riding on top of a train like those people in China would be even cooler! At least until the tunnel….

    • Yeah you really have to be ALERT when riding on top of a train…….imagine being a train bum and waking up after a nap thinking it’s night because it’s dark and trying to stand up only to discover rather rudely that you’re INSIDE A TUNNEL! EEEEEEK (and ouch).

    • Mom and Dad said it reminded them of the airport in Paris when they were trying to get home after 9/11. It was WORSE than these photos – which is hard to imagine! Mom and I love your “Fall” quilt – it’s really pretty – the material (front and back) is PERFECT and it’s an absolutely lovely gift. You’re QUITE the quilter Miss Cecilia! I mean that too…

  2. I am glad your Dad lets you stay outside for so long. Your mom is good to you too- I don’t like outside so you would probably have about 10 minutes with me. Great poem- I would walk too. And thanks to your mom for another nice photo prompt for next week. Have a great day! XO

    • Dad just took me outside for the first time today. YAY FOR DAD. Mom’s doing housework-ish stuff which I find quite boring but she insists is “necessary” !! Glad you think the photo Angel Sammy gave us for next week’s poetry is as nice as I do – I think it will make for some pretty poems!

  3. Those crowds are just plain SCARY. We can’t imagine being smooshed like that.

We’re THANKFUL you get to have quality outside time! We know you enjoy it and it’s good that your Mom and Dad are happy to take you outside.

    • I talk about going outside a lot don’t I?! But it really is the highlight of every day when I can go outside so it seems quite obvious to my Mom and Dad that I was USED to that before they adopted me. I’m glad they will let me continue to do something I love so much!!!!

  4. your Daddy has ALWAYS been the BEST cat daddy! My Dad would stay out long (if I LIKED to go out, but I don’t), Mom would be inside in less time than your Mom! MOL! LOVED the poem! That is one crowd my Mom would NEVER want to deal with!! Love, Cody

    • My Mom and Dad don’t really like crowds and MANY of the poets this week said that in their poems. That train crowd is particularly hideous though isn’t it! Mom says it reminds her of TRYING to get out of Paris and come home after 9/11. The airport was WORSE than that….if you can imagine! Sending all of you big hugs.

    • HAHAHAHAHA……you are right – if you were in that kind of crowd and had “ISSUES” it could be quite disastrous trying to find the rest room – and even when you found it, you’d have to WAIT IN LINE! Human babies have the right idea I suppose – plastic pants. As for me and my outside time? Probably you’re right about the burds – they see me and scream at me often but I’m VERY GOOD at ignoring them. Thanks for playing along with Angel Sammy’s poetry day – you always have a “GOODIE” !!

  6. I almost never go to events or festivals because I don’t like crowds. I also think that even 45 minutes is a good amount of time to be outside. Chris and Frankie go out separately and added together I rarely give them more than an hour.

    • Your haiku is wonderful……….the photos Angel Sammy uses generally have ALL kinds of emotions that could be “attached” to them – yours is really interesting and well expressed!!!

  7. Oh my whiskers Teddy, we have the same issue with The Female Human. She never lets us stay out long enough on the upstairs balcony. It’s good that Lily has figured out how to let us all out there when no humans are looking. The Female Human came home from work the other night and nearly had a heart attack when she saw us all lounging out there. MOL Now however, she has the screen door rigged so Lily can’t open it anymore. What a buzz kill!

  8. Good poem, Angel S. Imagine if a tiny kitty was stuck in that crowd. That would be more than just stepped-on-toes! Yikes. I’m with you, T. I love to stay outside. That’s why I invented the street nap. And why Mom invented the name of Stubborn.

    • Cupcake you did invent street and curb naps and I think that was VERY SMART of you. Of course that wouldn’t be good in a busy parking lot but it sure is nice in a deserted community parking lot isn’t it!! I did wonder if there were any poor animals in that crowd at the London train station but hopefully people had enough brains NOT to bring animals along and if there were strays to avoid any ACCIDENTS!!!!!

    • I know we should be happy for WHATEVER out time we get but honestly – I sometimes get the feeling that Mom has other things she wants to do instead of babysit me! What’s with that??!!

  9. I hate crowds and would stay well away from places like that.
The boys were lucky that we had a high Leylandii hedge along the full length of one side of the garden, then Ivor built the “purrison fence” around the rest so they could go in and out whenever they wanted to. Of course I also took them for walks around the fields every day too.

    • That train photo was due to a strike but gosh – crowds like that are just plain AWFUL no matter where or when! You all had an ideal garden for the boys and of course they had the fields of green all around. They had the BEST of both worlds………and more love than you can count! 🙂

  11. Hooray for long walks with your dad, Teddy! We know you still enjoy time outdoors with your mom, though, even if it’s shorter. And your poem is purrfect for this crowded image, Angel Sammy! I’d pass on that crowded train station as well. Walking would be a much better option. Purrs!

  12. We absolutely loved Angel Sammy’ poem. Bet they never have to wait for a rain at the RB. Wings would be so helpful if stuck in one of those terrible crowds. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

    • From what I understand from Sammy things are perfectly perfect at the RB including the weather….You’re right about wings being helpful – I can think of lots of situations in which they would be – crowds certainly but getting from A to B without being in a cramped car would be nice too!!!!!
