Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Hello Thursday!   You signal the end (almost) of a week………and it’s time for us to remember all the things we’re thankful for in this Hop Brian hosts.   If you’d like to join us – please do – just click his badge and link up.

I’ve got to say this week I’m thankful that the snow we’ve had was TINY………..non-sticking “conversational” stuff instead of stick to the ground forever and slippery as can be.   My feet are not happy with COLD.    They’re not too happy with “cleaning off with a towel” either.    I’m a wimp.   I still get to go outside though – sometimes I hunker down on the front porch so at least my tummy isn’t waving in the breeze…….still, my poor Mom or poor Dad sits there shivering while I get my breath of air and SOMETIMES a little walk on the sidewalk or driveway.    I CAN’T WAIT FOR SPRING!!!!!

I’m also thankful to have a poetic brother……………..Angel Sammy comes through every week…………and he keeps hoping that more of you will give writing a poem a try – he tries to send us FUN photos that he thinks might inspire you to pick up your pen (or tap on the keyboard!) and write something.   Short, long, fun, sad – WHATEVER the photo he gives you makes you think of.

Ready for his email to us???   Here it is…………….

♥♥♥

Hi Friends!  Ready to “get poetic” with me?

All of us Angels have been wondering when Spring will finally land back on terra firma…..I bet you’re all wondering too……well it won’t be long now.    We don’t really have seasons here – it’s beautiful and quiet and peaceful all the time.  No snow – no ice – just NICE.    We want that for you too!   Hang in there……………

Meanwhile, I hope you’re thinking about writing a poem one of these days if not TODAY…………….I wrote mine and after I show you the photo I gave you last week as inspiration for this week’s poem, I’ll share MY poem with you!   I like this photo because it makes me SMILE………and we can all use more smiles right?

“Granting Wishes”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    March 6, 2019

As one of many fairies who grants a wish

A restful and cool break was needed by “Trish”

Trish flitted and flew about especially at night

Visiting all the wishers before daylight

The dreams of the wishers were most clear in the dark

They lit up the night like a warm cozy spark

She followed the light and if the wishes were real

Her rose would stay alive and soft petals she’d feel

If the wishes were cruel or would cause harm to the planet

The rose would shrivel and die and she’d have no power to grant it.

At the end of the night all the fairies would meet

In the soft fern forest with moss at their feet

Wish fairies are hopeful that humankind will endure

And make only good wishes with hearts that are pure………………..

Now, if you wrote a poem to share with us I hope you will mention that in comments – or even write your poem itself here in comments if you don’t have a blog.   We hope the photo was a fun one for you!    I realized when I started writing that my poem could go in so many directions!!!    This particular one just felt FUN to me.    Poetry is FUN………try it!

Here’s your inspirational photo for next week…………….let’s see what we all can do with this one shall we?

I like this photo……………I hope you find something about it that gives you an idea for a poem – if it does, share it with us next week will you?    I’ll come up with one too.   Meanwhile, I hope all of you have GOOD DREAMS with GOOD WISHES so the wish fairies will grant them for you!!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love Always, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thank you for visiting us Angel Sammy!    One day I’ll be up there with you in the sunshine………..until then……….please see if you Angels can put your energy into sending us some Spring will you???

I’m waiting patiently for sun!!!!

Hugs, Teddy

  1. We’ve had a taste of Spring, but now it’s winter again!

I have to put up with my paws being wiped with a towel each time I go outside in this wet weather as well – it happens to the best of us! 😀

    • Say – that’s a good idea….I’d really rather do it myself. Last time she wasn’t fast enough with the towel I ran in and ran across the light wall to wall and left some lovely clay-colored paw prints!!!!!!!!

    • The birds here THINK it’s Spring Miss Pix…..they’re tweeting in the sunshine (when it’s out) and visiting the feeders (when Mom remembers to fill them) but there’s just no sign of it in the air. It’s 22 degrees here this morning…..BRRRRRRRR……we will be happy when some sort of SIGN of Spring is here!!! Glad you liked Angel Sammy’s poem today – – – we also think next week’s photo ought to make for some good poetry too!!!!

  2. Angel Sammy, you make the best poetry. You do. Mom said she looks forward to it with me I do too. Teddy, tell yourself that in another two weeks, it will feel like Spring as well as look like it. Won’t that be great. You, Mom and Dad and my mom won’t be out there shivering with our furs blowing in the icy winds. XXXXXXXX

    • Oh I am excited that Spring will EVENTUALLY be here – hard to imagine when it’s 22 out (which is what it is here right now!) – but the sun’s out and at least it’s not “depressing” looking! I do hope you’re right that in a few weeks things will begin to warm up a little….we’ll see buds on trees and forsythia and all that stuff that means SPRING. Right now though I’m on my fleece blankie just THINKING about Spring!!

  5. Teddy, we’re right there with you, hoping for spring! We still have snow on the ground, but it is supposed to get well over freezing this weekend. Could that be spring on the horizon? Angel Sammy, your poetry challenges make every week extra fun. This week’s image was so beautifully magical, just like your poem for it is. The story you told could be a Disney movie, and I would watch it for sure. Now, I can’t wait to write next week’s poem! Just like I’m a fan of magic and fantasy, I am also a huge fan of anything in the realm of the Victorian era, like the image you picked for next week. Thank you for always making our weeks so fun!

  8. Great poem Angel. We hope the good fairy will grant my wish. “Please be with the Vet tomorrow during our puppy, Baileys, surgery for elbow dysplasia. He’s only seven months old and too young for such bad arthritis that goes with it. His dysplaysia is so bad the prognosis isn’t good. But without it he has no hope. We drove five stressful hours in the snow and fog to get to Fort Collins, CO this morning at 10:30 am. It’s a University Hospital and one of the best. He will need to be kept quiet for at least two weeks. That will be the hard part. We need to get up at 6am and his surgery will be at 9am approximately. He also needs to stay all day and overnight. I’ll update when I know more. Good night.
