Happy Thursday and you know what THAT means…………….we pause on Thursdays to join Brian’s Hop to express our THANKS for our many blessings. Continued health is a biggie for us in my house. My Mom and Dad keep up with their 6 month checkups and all the other maintenance type stuff humans have to do AND they take good care of yours truly in that department too (although I am due for a shot – yuck). Also thankful that while we’ve had some bigger snows than we’ve had in a couple of years, we’re keeping up with things and between Dad’s snow-thrower and the sunshine melting we are keeping our heads above the snow!!!
I got an email from Angel Sammy with his poem this morning……………….I’ll share it with you for his Poetic Thursday:
♥♥♥
Thursday Is Here!
Time to share some poetry! I hope you wrote a poem for the photo I gave you of the cute couple dancing in their kitchen…………I wrote mine and you can see it below. If you wrote one to share with us, please give us your link to the poem OR write your poem in our comments. We love to read your work! It’s so much fun writing a poem inspired by a photo.
Here’s the photo we needed to use for today’s poem:
“That Same Feeling”
Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell ©January 10, 2022
When they were young they loved to dance
At church, at the bingo parlor, any possible chance
In each others’ embrace they gracefully moved
They were perfectly in tune as their smooth moves proved
The years passed so quickly but their love never faltered
The linoleum may have aged but their young hearts never altered
They danced for themselves – never caring for crowds
And they knew in their hearts one day they’d dance in the clouds…………….
Forever kinds of love. Most people would like to have that – some do and many don’t……..but the couple in this photo brought a tear to my Mom’s eye when she saw this picture. It made her happy and sad. I hope you saw something inspiring in the photo – let me know if you did by sharing your poetry!!!!
Next week’s photo is this one…………hope you like it too.
The next Beatles?? This will be a fun one for poetry. I hope you’ll be with us next Thursday to share a poem about this gang! Until then, stay happy, healthy, and in love with life.
Love Forever And A Day………Angel Sammy
♥♥♥
Love the poem today my Angel brother………………..and next week’s will be a ton of fun I think……..I hope lots of people give writing a poem a try!
“HALP! MAKE IT STOP MOM!!”
Hugs, Teddy
Glad you didn’t drown in the snow piles!!
We here too have to do all these maintenances that come with senior life, LOL! Even though we still do the work we did as much younger peeps…maybe we’re like mentors now, well, hopefully!
Here is my somewhat mushy poem…
Dancing in The Kitchen
Come on dear,
Let’s have a dance.
The chores are done.
Its time for fun!
Now’s our chance,
Cause no-one’s here.
I loved you then…
And I love you now.
So lets kiss,
And let’s dance.
Though we’re not in Paris,
let alone France!
I truly vow…
You’re forever my love,
My joy and my bliss.

I forgot our poem or I should have posted it today. Duh! Thankful for poems that are uplifting and positive and thankful for having more people dance until they can’t. Even then, to dance in the heart.

Yes…you don’t have to physically dance to allow your heart to dance !

that is the important thing… to feel young by heart and to remember the time we had together… and no matter if the bobby socks are support stockings now and the skintight blue jeans became jogging pants… we are still the same ones we were so many moons ago

At least when they break their instruments after a concert, it can just be attributed to a temper tantrum…

HA! I thought the same thing – and although they look a little old for it, I wondered if on breaks they had diaper changes too.

Angel Sammy, my mom and I think that was just exactly right. The picture was so sweet and charming that if mom hadn’t been so occupied she would have tried her hand at a poem for it. One of the sweetest pictures for Poem Day ever.

Glad you liked the photo – my Mom fell in love with it – the idea of it, the emotion of it, the “closeness” of it. There are some really adorable poems written for it on blogs today and I know your Mom’s would have been one of them for sure!!! (((HUGS)))
