SPARK on Monday

Standard

Happy Monday.    Time for that Monday morning thought to start the week which we are calling a SPARK.    If you don’t know what posting a SPARK is all about, here’s the history!   SPARKS is a Monday tradition – how did it start and what IS IT?  “SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when her blog was hacked some time ago.  It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it.   Although Annie isn’t currently blogging, a lot of us who enjoyed her SPARKS decided to keep posting SPARKS of our own.   Why?   Because sometimes we need a little “spark” in our lives and these posts were meant to at least be a PART of that effort.   Please feel free to post your own SPARK on your blog and let everyone know you have…….we get energy from each other that way.

Having spent the weekend on various “getting ready for Christmas” activities I thought I’d share a SPARK for those of us who are missing special people in our lives who we’ve lost – in my case I always remember my parents especially this time of the year.   Not because they passed away in December but both of them had birthdays in December.   Our tradition in my family when I was growing up was to get our Christmas tree on my Mom’s birthday – December 19.    I’ve seen enough funny movie scenes of families out searching for the perfect tree to make me laugh whenever I pass a Christmas tree sale and see Dads holding out a tree for inspection – Mom walking around to see it from all angles – kids playing hide and seek among the trees or throwing snowballs at each other paying NO attention to the trees.    I remember that my mother was VERY particular about what the tree should look like.   We always had a beautiful tree though as I remember.   The only time we didn’t have a tree at all was when my Dad was stationed in Taiwan.   I think we had a palm tree for those two years!    Anyway, I tend to think about the friends I’ve lost and the family I’ve lost a lot more this time of year and this SPARK really says it for me………………..I just love it.

To those of you who have lost someone special and – like me – tend to think of them more this time of year – take heart in this saying because I think if you look among the stars there will be one or maybe two that are a LITTLE BIT brighter – JUST FOR YOU!

Friendly Fill-Ins Hop

Standard

It must be Friday!    There’s that logo for the Friendly Fill-Ins….that’s a clue alright!    Four-Legged Furballs and 15andMeowing co-host this Hop every week and it’s easy to join in.   You can click the badge and find the link.    We have four sentences every week – two from each co-host and we fill in the blanks in the sentences.   Easy huh.

This week I let my Mom do all the filling in.   Yeah – just a little treat for her as she works so hard to make ME happy so I’m having her handle this week’s blanks.    Her words are in RED (Christmas Red of course!).

1. My favorite holiday film is “White Christmas”.
2. My favorite Christmas song is  “Silent Night”.
3. If you ask me, ’tis the season for joy and no worries and remembering what Christmas is all about and LOVE.
4. Sadly, Angel Sammy going to the Bridge on December 2 – the day we decorated the Christmas tree is a holiday memory I’ll never forget.

Good job Mom.    I know you and Dad miss Sammy a lot……..but I also know that you love me a lot too and I think if Sammy and I were here together with you and Dad we would WEAR YOU OUT IN NO TIME!    I talk to Sammy in my dreams and he wants you to know he loved every second of almost 17 years with you and Dad.   That’s the important thing.    Love is forever – you always tell ME that and I know it’s true.
Now, what do you say – let’s bundle up and go outside for a walk around the yard.    You can tell me more Sammy stories!   I like that.

Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday!    Time for us to talk about things we’re thankful for.    I have to admit that I’m thankful we haven’t had any snow yet – yes we had a very very minor dusting (lasted about 60 seconds) yesterday morning but nothing before that or since.    We’ve had snow as early as October so I’m not complaining believe me that we haven’t had snow.    Also very thankful that the Christmas tree is up because I LOVE LOVE LOVE lying under it like so many of us do!     Thankful as well that my Dad gets his booster on the 6th – then Mom and Dad will be as vaccinated as possible and I hope that keeps them protected.    Mom says she thinks boosters will be required for everyone until – – – well – – – maybe a very long time if these variants keep cropping up!

Anyway, on to happier things – like Angel Sammy’s POETRY THURSDAY post………ready?   Let’s do it.

“YAY FOR POETRY DAY!”

Hi everyone.   Hope you are well since we last met.    We Angels are working overtime lately keeping our humans healthy and keeping the world as safe as we can.   Of course we are just assisting the Higher Power in that but at least we feel like we’re helping!      Meanwhile poetry keeps our SOULS happy – right?

You know the drill – I give you a photo and you have a week to think about it and write a poem based on how the photo makes you feel then we share it the following Thursday…………..and before you say it – YES YOU CAN WRITE POETRY – everyone can write poetry!    Honest!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week for today’s poem exchange…………and my poem follows the photo.

“Our Home”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©December 1, 2021

You wouldn’t suspect it at first sight

But this planet is in a bit of a plight

The occupants aren’t taking great care

There’s hunger, sickness and despair

There’s waste, pollution and death

Too many are taking their very last breath

We know these things to be true

Yet we delay and debate what to do

As Angels do as much as they can

It’s up to each woman and man

To not waste or squander the gift

And cause the blue planet to shift

From the vibrant orb we call home

To a dark, deserted planet all alone…………..

Well I certainly hope not……………if we remember we should take better care of this beautiful world we live in and take care to live in peace then maybe – just maybe – we can turn things around.    My Mom is fond of saying “things sure are different now than they were when I was a kid”……..I guess I understand that now.

SO – how about another photo for NEXT week’s poetry day?    Meanwhile if you wrote one based on the Planet Earth photo, PLEASE tell us you did in comments and include a link to your post so we can read it.   If you don’t have a link – you can always write your poem in our comments here and everyone can see it!

Oh yes………….the dreaded Santa visit.    Actually lots of kids love it……………below is a photo of someone who appears MESMERIZED!

Sam's Mom Seeing Santa First Time

Yep – that’s my Mom……………I think she might have been wondering why Santa had a prison number on his chair (haha) and why his moustache was falling off his face????

So that’s it for this week everyone – have fun with the Santa photo and we’ll compare notes and poems next Thursday.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Big Hugs from the Rainbow Bridge……it’s been five years today since I left for the Bridge and I miss being in my house, my yard, under my Christmas tree, getting hugs from Mom and Dad……and many other things…..but I will see you ALL one day.   I can promise you that!    Thanks to everyone for loving me while I was here………..it was a wonderful life.

Love, Sammy

♥♥♥

Dear Angel Sammy…….you are missed – by everyone……………I miss you and I never even met you.    We are brothers though and one day I can hug you in person!

Hugs, Teddy

SPARK on Monday

Standard

Monday – time for SPARKS!

We’re now officially on the “countdown to Christmas” here in my house.    When we got all the decorations out for the tree Teddy went crazy…….he sniffed everything to refamiliarize himself with things and after the tree was up, promptly took up residence UNDER the tree as usual.

Preparing for the holiday – especially for Christmas – has always been a special time for me and I clearly remember the excitement I felt as a little girl.    Age brings more reflection of course………and when I saw this poster with the lines from a very familiar and beloved song, I thought it really was a PERFECT SPARK for today.    I know that I’m not the only one who prays for PEACE ON EARTH and for a KINDER world with more goodwill among humankind.    BUT Mr. Longfellow said it better than I ever could.

Let’s hope we come away from the holiday season with more peace in our hearts AND more importantly IN THIS WORLD of ours.

Hugs, Pam

Friendly Fill-Ins Blog Hop

Hello Friends!   Time to fill in the blanks as provided by our co-hosts Four-Legged Furballs and 15andmeowing.    Four sentences and lots of blanks to fill-in which give the world more insight into US!    Cool huh?    Wanna join in?   Click the badge above and link up – easy.

Here are our four sentences this week (two from each co-host).    Mom and I both filled blanks in so MY words are in RED and hers are in GREEN.

1. I find it easy to choose a gift for Teddy – he likes EVERYTHING (for about sixty seconds!).
2. I find it difficult to choose a gift for my Mom – I don’t know her computer password so no online shopping and I can’t drive to go buy her something so I just give her BIG HUGS which make her happy!.
3. Now that I’ve learned to like my weight control wet food, I can proudly say I’ve stayed at the same weight as I was before the weight control food – haha – fooled ya!!.
4. I’m especially looking forward to decorating the house this holiday season.

Well I must admit that I have lost a couple of pounds but my vet STILL tells me and Mom that I am not fat……….I am big.  In fact I’m bigger than big I’m HUGE.    BUT I’m healthy and heaven knows I’m happy.
Hope you all had a nice Thanksgiving…………..Mom and Dad were away from home but they brought leftovers back!  OH BOY!    See you next week for fill-ins again!

Hugs, Teddy
