Monday means SPARKS. A thought to get you through the week maybe – or even a SPARK with a message that could change your life or attitude. “SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when she stopped blogging some time ago. It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it. Although Annie isn’t currently blogging, a lot of us who enjoyed her SPARKS decided to keep posting SPARKS of our own.
I really wasn’t looking for a particular “message” for my SPARK this week but when I happened across this one – I realized that maybe I was the one who needed the message!!
YES – I had to think about it for a bit……………but I do “get it” ! Have a great week………………
It’s Sunday and time to let it all hang out. Well – maybe not ALL of it – but whatever we want to share in the way of a Selfie anyway! This Hop is hosted by our good friends at The Cat On My Head and to join in – just click their badge above and link up.
We are flashing again today – oops – I don’t mean FLASHING in THAT way (haha) I mean flashing in that this is a repeat photo of me. I know you don’t mind – at least it’s ME!
Yep – flashback to February 12, 2017. I had been in my new home for less than a week and our neighbors came over to “meet” me. I was playing with Mom so as to provide some fun photo ops since they brought a camera……….I was the STAR and boy did I play like a crazy boy! This felt thing was one of my favorite toys in the beginning. Now I have three baskets full of toys. Anyway, Mom says I have “kitten eyes” in this photo. I was nine months old and happy as a boy could be.
Mom and I didn’t put a filter on this one BUT we did make a puzzle for those who are into them!
Just click this mini-me for the puzzle!!!
Have a Super Sunday everyone…………………………
Love and Hugs, Teddy
Castle Baconia Kitchen Is Open For Business!
And as the business owner (aka King) I feel it is my duty to provide my kingdom with a wonderful recipe every single Saturday that includes bacon. I will say that the Royal Mom had a bit to do with this one – why? Because she is a “Potato Princess” – she loves potatoes…..french fries, baked potatoes, mashed potatoes, potato pancakes, twice baked potatoes – she’s never met a potato she didn’t like. She particularly loves Potatoes Au Gratin but this recipe kicks it up a notch…………..it includes bacon and a couple of other things that aren’t in our “regular” potatoes au gratin recipe. SO LET’S DO THIS!
Easy Creamy Potatoes Au Gratin With Bacon
- 8 Ounces bacon
- 1 Cup whole milk
- ½ Cup butter
- 3 Garlic cloves smashed
- 6 Large russet potatoes
- ½ Cup onion sliced
- ¾ + ¾ Teaspoon salt
- ¾ + ¾ Teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ + ½ Teaspoon black pepper
- 1 + 1 Cups shredded cheddar cheese
- ¼ Cup grated parmesan cheese
- 1 Teaspoon dried parsley
Preheat oven to 350°F. Lay bacon on a pan sprayed baking pan and bake for 20 minutes. Chop when done and set aside. Once the bacon is out of the oven, increase the temperature to 400°F.
While the bacon is cooking, heat a small saucepan on medium heat. Simmer the whole milk, butter and smashed garlic for 5 minutes. Remove the garlic.
Peel and rinse the russet potatoes. Slice the potatoes very thin, about ⅛ inch thick. Also, slice the onion thinly.
Using a pan sprayed 13×9 baking pan, cover the bottom of the pan with a layer of half of the potato slices. Then, cover the potato slices with half of the sliced onions. Cover with half of the milk and butter mixture. Season with ¾ teaspoon salt, ¾ teaspoon garlic powder and ½ teaspoon black pepper.
Cover with 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese. Cover with the remaining potato slices and repeat the other layers. Cover the final cheddar layer with grated parmesan cheese, dried parsley and the chopped bacon. Bake for 1 hour.
OK – did I knock your socks off with this recipe? Good! You won’t want to serve “just plain” mashed potatoes again – this really is delicious and I’m sure you’ll love it – those of you who can’t eat bacon will be happy to know that while bacon is always better (!) it’s not necessary – these potatoes are JUST THAT GOOD that they stand on their own!
“I’m definitely standing on my own!”
We’ll be here again next Saturday with another exciting baconized recipe – so tune in won’t you? There’s always something exciting happening in the land of bacon!
Next Week! Your King……………..
YAY! Time for filling in fun. Each Friday we have FOUR sentences with blanks supplied by our co-hosts and we fill those blanks in. The badge above will take you to 15andmeowing where you can copy the sentences and fill-in then add your blog to the Hop. We’d love to read your words! Below are ours – I say “ours” because I often ask my Mom is she’d like to fill some blanks in and I fill in the others.
We both did the fill-ins this week and if Mom fills in a blank, her word is in GREEN and if I’m putting a word in a blank my word is in BLUE.
1. I enjoy making meals – I’m no gourmet but I do like to cook.
2. I can’t stop going to the front door and asking my Mom or Dad or both to TAKE ME OUT..
3. I need to figure out what week in October we want to vacation in Maine this year before I can make reservations – I usually make them in February for October!
4. I may not say it enough, but I do love all my blog friends and so does Mom!.
There you have it – filling in DONE for another week! Thanks to our co-hosts for giving us this weekly challenge!
Hugs, Pam and Teddy too
