Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Hello Friends!    Today is our double day – starting with being THANKFUL then moving into POETRY.    Of course this time of year most of us tend to focus on the many things we are thankful for (or SHOULD be thankful for!)………….I’m thankful that we didn’t get as much snow as originally predicted for our area – the BIG SNOW remained South but that meant that a lot of people who don’t normally see a lot of white stuff, DID.    NC and Southern Virginia were hammered as you know!    The photos we saw were amazing.   We had just under two inches and it’s pretty well gone now.   Thankful?  OH YES WE ARE!

I’m also very thankful that that wifi connection Angel Sammy has never lets us down.  I got his poem last night along with his message……….I’ll share it with you!

GREETINGS FROM THE BRIDGE!!

Hi everybody.  It’s that time of the week again – time for us to stretch our wings (which Angels do literally!), and share some poetry.    Each Thursday I give you a photo to use as inspiration for the following week.   You all are FANTASTIC because those of you who have been participating are doing a wonderful job of being creative.   I hope more and more of you decide to give writing a poem a try and sharing your work with us via our comments with a link to where we can read YOUR poem!     After I share last week’s photo (below) and my poem inspired by that photo, I will give you a NEW photo for you to think about and study and ultimately write a poem about (I hope).

Ready?   Set?   GO!

“Twas The Night Before Christmas…..”

Poem By Angel Sammy Kimmell     December 12, 2018

The malls are alive with the sound of crowds

Everyone laughing and talking real loud

Lines are long and patience is short

Especially this is true in the Mall food court!

Stores are restocking to keep up with the buyers

Little kids forced to come shopping turn into cryers!

Gift wrappers have lines and learn to be FAST

Those bows and all that tape just better last!

Wall to wall people as far as you can see

Sales people anxious for closing time so they can be FREE

In spite of the craziness and the panic and such

Nobody seems to mind or care all that much

Because the holidays are here and the smiles are for real

Santa Claus is coming soon and that’s a BIG DEAL!!

HAHAHA…….I had some fun with this.    I hope you enjoyed tackling this photo too.   I had several write to me to say they thought it was a perfect photo for close to Christmas.    This probably is what 90% of the Malls look like RIGHT NOW but certainly on those last two or three nights before Christmas!    Are you ready for NEXT week’s photo?    Even CLOSER to Christmas………

I love the photo for next week…………….just love it.

I’ll show you a photo of my Mom as a little girl visiting Santa……….don’t tell her I showed it to you though!

My Dad teases Mom about this one – the number on the side of Santa’s chair – he wonders if that’s his prison number or something.   HAHAHAHA    This was actually taken when my Mom saw Santa in Weisbaden, Germany when they lived there a million years ago.   I personally think this Santa looks a little scary.   Mom doesn’t seem to think so though – she looks totally fascinated.

Anyway, your photo for next week is NOT the one with Mom but the cute one above it with the little girl in her tartan outfit!!    I’ll look forward to writing my own poem about the photo AND to reading all of yours!

I hope all of you are being EXTRA good right now – you know Santa keeps a very close eye on all of us at Christmas time and really all year through.   I hope you are on his NICE list!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

See you next Thursday…….meanwhile I’m sending you a holiday hug…..

Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy……………I’m anxious to read everyone’s poems too.    I’m also anxious to hear from you again next week.    I always AM…………………..

Hugs, Teddy

  1. I am reading this at 2:40 in the morning… but you are probably still right that 90% of the malls look like that RIGHT NOW! I don’t remember that particular Santa from The Joint, but they do have a special holiday work release like that. You should have seen the time some annoying little kid pulled Charles Manson’s beard…

    • I know – isn’t she absolutely adorable in her Christmas tartan??!! Yeah that’s me alright – that’s one of the saddest looking Santas I’ve ever seen – amazing I wasn’t screaming. HAHAHA

  5. That was a great poem, Angel Sammy always has just the right words. I have not seen a mall that crowded -ever- because I get my shopping done when they first open and avoid them on weekends.Although, I think in 10 years there will be no malls and everything will be done online which makes me sad. I like to touch the merchandise and try it on. Glad you didn’t get too much snow. XO

    • I’m not sure about no malls – you know when book stores started closing because everyone got a kindle or ebook, etc. instead of a “REAL” book, people thought that was the end of book stores forever but NOW bookstores are opening EVERYWHERE and they are VERY VERY popular! You never know….maybe people will get tired of gaining all that weight sitting at their computers all day and exercise at the mall!! HAHA

    • My Mom has always said she’s amazed that photo of her with Santa doesn’t show her screaming….maybe she was just so fascinated with his beard falling off, and his wart on his nose, and that silly straw with a balloon on the end he was holding? LOL

    • Cupcake I bet Santa Paws brings you some GREAT new toys and maybe a new dress? You couldn’t possibly be anything BUT a good girl I bet. All of us have a few little crazy breaks along the way but most of us are so good we STAY on Santa’s “NICE” list and I’m sure you’re there.

  6. We already saw SantaPaws, so yes, I can relate to next week’s picture,MOL/BOL! By the way, the tartan that girl is wearing looks really a lot like petcretary’s school tartan, OMC!

Your poem is spot on, but, well, Petcretary still wants to avoid those places now. Why, sometimes you cannot even find anywhere to park your wheels…except maybe at our mall, which is very much suffering the consequences of that big store known as Amazon…three big anchor stores are now closed, as well as not a few others:(

    • A lot of malls are “downsizing” because people aren’t shopping in malls much anymore. They’ve become dangerous places too sadly. Anyway, we have lots of other spots to shop – not just online but good old Main Street here in our town. Local merchants with lots of handmade and unique things – it’s nice to support them AND find things that you can’t find anywhere else!! That photo of the little girl in her red tartan is so cute – is that your petcretary by any chance????????????

  7. What a fun idea to share photos and poetry for xmas! Mom says she’s totally going to stay away from the malls a few days before xmas. She says it gets to crazy for her liking! Hugs.

    • My Mom won’t go to Malls when it’s NOT Christmas so you know she won’t be there shopping THIS year for sure…..LOL……we live in a smallish town that has a nice Main Street with little shops and THAT’s where Mom does her shopping (or online). No crowds….no lines…..lots of great and different things to buy. MORE FUN! Have a super holiday……….

  9. That was a great poem, Angel Sammy – you really captured the spirit of Christmas preparation. We love that photo of your Mom with Santa. We have spotted a few of those around here of Mom and her brother, some with looks of awe, some with tears, and many with big smiles.

    • It’s great to have that old photo – I think photos of kids with Santa Claus (especially that first visit!) are quite wonderful. That wonder and awe at actually seeing SANTA! It’s hard to hang onto that spirit for a whole lifetime but if you can (and I try to myself) it just spreads the magic and joy of the holiday to everyone.

  10. Sammy, your poem is exceptional as always. You really captured the spirit of it. Our mom, however, would not be smiling if she was caught in that mob. The photo of Mom Pam is absolutely precious. Our mom wishes she had a photo like that. If she ever visited Santa, she doesn’t have a photo and doesn’t remember. Love and hugs to all. Next week’s photo should be fun. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy and Sawyer

    • I suspect my Mom would smile only to keep from crying if she was in that mess in the Mall!! Mom likes that photo of her with Santa too. Funny she didn’t scream – maybe she was on a sugar high from candy?????
