In A Fog

Standard

Yikes Mom…I can’t see a THING out there!

What IS this fog stuff anyway?  It’s so foggy outside this morning that not only can I not see anything out ANY of my favorite window spy spots, but Mom said even if she wanted to go somewhere in the car – she wouldn’t!  Just too foggy.  We’ve already heard police cars or fire engines or sirens of some kind out on the main road near our house this morning…….I’m sure everyone who HAS to go to work this morning wishes they didn’t!

I’m glad to be inside.  You know me.  I’m not afraid of much (well, maybe foxes and great big dogs) but when you can’t SEE what’s there, it’s a little bit nerve-wracking!

How do I know it’s foggy when it’s still dark outside at this early hour?  Well, our little neighborhood “bum” cat who visits us and everybody else when she doesn’t like what’s being served on the table at HER house, was by this morning.  When Mom took her a bowl of food and some water out to the front porch, I took a quick peek out there and couldn’t see our driveway lights OR the lantern light that’s in the front garden which is only about 15 feet away from my porch!  That’s pretty thick fog stuff for sure.

Mom said it’s because it gets really warm during the day, then cools down a whole lot at night, and it makes this FOG stuff happen.  She said to just wait a while and when the sun comes out, it will burn it away.  Now normally I know that “BURN” is a dangerous word but in this case, I’ll be glad for the fog to burn.  I would miss out on a lot of bird-watching, people-watching, and squirrel-watching if this stuff hung around all day.

That would NOT be good.

Mom confused me even more though by saying that when she doesn’t get a good night’s sleep she feels like she’s “IN A FOG” the next morning.  I thought fogs only happen OUTside…..what’s with that????????

Well, whatever…..I hope you peeps have a nice UNfoggy Monday where you are and don’t forget, tomorrow is TUESDAY TEASER!!!!  Brush up on your geography!!!

  1. I understand the “in a fog” thing with your Mom, Sammy. I think you have to be a Mom to understand completely…hope you got a chance to enjoy the sunshine yesterday. I took some photos in the fog yesterday morning when we were leaving Gordonsville, so you will get a chance to see one of them tomorrow…that’s MY Tuesday Teaser! Looking forward to your next photos…geography has never been my best subject.

    • Good Morning Miss Linda! My Mom says she and Dad have been to Gordonsville many times…..there was a little tiny airport there that had a tiny restaurant and Mom and Dad had breakfast there once or twice. I think it’s closed now. Anyway, I hope this fog goes away soon because I can’t see all my deer friends when they make their way out of the woods to munch on MY grass in the early mornings!!!!

  2. Hope that fogs burns away quickly, Sammy! We’re fog-free here in Hamtown. I just bet that soon, the sun will be out and you’ll have a good view through your windows. Maybe you’ll get to go out and explore today too!

    • Hi Sundae and Miss Dianna! I bet as soon as the sun manages to poke its head up over the mountain we’ll get this fog taken care of. Until then, being “in a fog” isn’t so bad….WEIRD but not so bad!! 😉

      Happy Monday!

  3. I love fog (except when I am driving), it puts me to remembering the old movies I used to see on Saturday afternoons (7 cents admission) way back when I was a kid.

    • Wowzers Uncle Jerry….seven cents for a movie huh? When the fog is super heavy my Mom just STAYS PUT. Guess what – since I posted my blog this morning it’s pretty much disappeared (the fog that is). Guess I’ll get to see some critters outside this morning after all!

  4. I find that a good strong cup of coffee or tea is often enough to lift the fog, at least for a while! I hope you get some nice sunshine later today. We have been experiencing the oddest spring. It seems wrong not to be shivering and bundling up in March, but the maples are flowering and the lilacs are leafing!

I love the white splotches on your back and the orange spots on your socks.

    • Hi Little M…..the fog disappeared, the sun came out, and I finally woke up (not necessarily in that order!). It’s been quite odd weather-wise here as well. We’ve had SNOW on the ground this time of year but everything is blooming here too. Makes you wonder what summer will be like….eeeek….Thanks for noticing my splotchy socks – I think my FRONT splotches quite nicely show off my extra toes/aka opposable thumbs. My redness fits in well with the Virginia clay soil. LOL

Hope the sun is shining for you all today!

    • You got that right Nerissa! “Fog be gone” I said as I waved my magic paw wand and guess what – it went away and it’s been sunny and BEEEEEAUTIFUL ever since. Amazing what a little wishful thinking can do huh?

    • I am Pedro – I am! The fog was gone before 10AM and the rest of today’s been swell…sunny and warmish. I’ve been out for some “salad” several times and napped in the sun. How’s your weather there Pedro? Better? Did you get upset about that cow the cat in Limerick has as a portable bath? We’ve just GOTTA get you a cow! I’d ship you one from a farm around here but somehow I think I’d have a tough time jamming it in a pre-paid box.

    • Oh Nellie you’re ever so right about peeps and fogs in the head. I had no idea either until Mom mentioned that coffee helps get rid of fog in human heads. I’ve been around for twelve years and never knew that. But then there’s a lot of stuff about humans that I’ll NEVER figure out and don’t even wanna try! Maybe all that February snow you got is finally going away……….we’ve had snow here this time of year before but not this year for sure – we’ve already had days in the 80s for cat’s sake. I’m not complaining though…..lovin’ the sun!

    • Hi Sparkle! WOWZERS – thanks for visiting me. I hear ya on the fog thing. It’s a major drag when you can’t enjoy the sun and birds/squirrels/deer/jogging humans out there. Fortunately our fog cleared out and I was able to do some serious watching. We need our daily routines don’t we!

    • Hi Miss Layla and boys…..today’s supposed to be sunny and nice until later when rain will be moving in so I’m going to enjoy the first day of Spring for sure. Mom’s going to work out in the garden a little bit; I think she bought some pansies yesterday to plant around DeDo my garden statue buddy AND she also bought a patio tomato plant! She’s ASSUMING the cold weather is GONE…I hope she’s right!

    • Tough to keep an eye on things with fog isn’t it?!?! Our fog lifted later in the morning though when the sun came out and it was a really pretty day after all. Thank heavens. How’s a “guard cat” supposed to guard when he can’t SEE???????
