Bakin’ With Bacon and King Teddy

Standard

Hello Loyal Bacon Subjects!  Time For a YUM Recipe!

Yes indeed – and I have a really excellent one for you today.   It may SEEM to be complicated when you read the recipe but it isn’t – and besides, even if it WAS a pain to make it is beyond wonderful in your tummy.    So everyone please pay attention and please give this a try.    You won’t be sorry!   By the way, we have made some recipes in the past that were SIMILAR to this BUT they were NOT THIS.

Chicken-Bacon-Ranch Crescent Bake

Ingredients

  • 1package (8 oz) cream cheese, cut into cubes
  • 1cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese (4 oz)
  • 2tablespoons milk
  • 2cups chopped cooked chicken  (before you ask – yes you certainly use a pre-cooked grocery store chicken)
  • 1/2cup chopped cooked applewood smoked bacon (12-oz package)
  • 1/2cup ranch dressing
  • 3tablespoons chopped fresh chives
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated Pillsbury Original Crescent Rolls (8 count) – they don’t have to be Pillsbury – any brand of crescent rolls will do
  • 4sharp cheddar cheese sticks (0.8 oz each), cut in half crosswise  (if your store doesn’t have already cut sticks – do your own – cut your block of cheddar into sticks
  • 1tablespoon butter, melted
  • 1/4teaspoon garlic powder

*Note about the “cheese sticks” – they are going to look like spokes in a wheel – the basic pie looks SORT OF like a wheel and the sticks are equally spaced to look like spokes – obviously they are not a NECESSARY part of the recipe – they just “pretty up” the top of the pie – you can see them lying on the top of the pie in the photo above

Steps

  • Heat oven to 375°F. Spray 9-inch pie plate with cooking spray. Place large piece of heavy-duty foil on lower oven rack to catch any cheese that might bubble over.
  • In medium microwavable bowl, mix cream cheese, shredded cheese and milk. Microwave uncovered on High 1 to 2 minutes, stirring until cheese is melted.
  • In large bowl, mix chicken, bacon, ranch dressing and 2 tablespoons of the chives; stir in cheese mixture until thoroughly combined. Transfer mixture to pie plate.
  • Separate dough into 8 triangles. On shortest side of each dough triangle, roll up one cheese stick piece until covered. Place dough on top of mixture in spoke pattern with points toward center and making sure cheese edges are within edges of pie plate.
  • In small bowl, mix melted butter and garlic powder. Brush mixture on top of crescent dough. Loosely cover crescent edges of pie plate with 2-inch wide strips of foil to make a ring.
  • Bake 20 minutes; remove foil, and continue baking 8 to 10 minutes or until filling is heated through and top is deep golden brown. Let stand 10 minutes. Before serving, garnish with remaining 1 tablespoon chives.

Not really complicated and yes somewhat similar to some other recipes we’ve done with chicken to make various kinds of pies.    So this is another one and it’s a yummy one.

Oldies but goodies!

Enjoy!  I hereby issue an order that you WILL enjoy this pie!  (haha)

  1. I missed yesterday…not home most of the day…

I think I Need to get a napkin to wipe away all the drool!
That would make a good item to take to a picnic, or a potluck…or if you were the hostess of a party at your own place you could whip up a few and have them as appetizers or part of a buffet meal.

Thanks for another yummy recipe…now to figure out how to make a replacement for the crescent roils. LOL! Maybe take a keto pizza crust and cut it into the desired number of wedges to put in the pie plate.

  3. It sounds delicious! I have never heard of crescent rolls and Mr. Google didn’t come up with an alternative.

    • Pillsbury makes them – it’s really just regular pre-made roll dough in a can……the crescent rolls are perforated for separation in one long piece of dough. You separate them and they are triangles – you can roll them up and have them as dinner rolls or make something FUN like this with them!

  4. Looks and sounds really good. Going to be a hot day-83. Was in the 60’s when I got up and it was already humid. They say this how it’s going to be all next week.

  5. Mom wishes she could eat this, as it looks and sounds yummy, but it has way too much dairy for her. It really doesn’t seem that hard to make from the instructions.
