Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

YAY!  Thursday rolls around again and it’s time for us all to voice our Thankfuls again – our host, Brian is hoping you will join in the Hop so click the badge above and LINK UP with the rest of us as we give voice to the things we’re thankful for.

I am thankful that after a few days of BAD STORMS we’ve had a couple of gorgeous days.   Cooler – not so humid – perfect days for me to be outside with Mom and Dad and I’ve had LOTS of that.     I’m also super thankful that those nasty and noisy cicadas NEVER MADE IT to Warrenton although we know people in nearby counties that said the noise was deafening.   LUCKY US!!!!!

I received Angel Sammy’s Poetic Thursday email with his poem and a new photo challenge for everyone.    So let’s get on with it:

♥♥♥

Happy Poetry Day!

Hi friends!    All of the Angels at Rainbow Bridge wish you well!     Today is Thursday which means we will get to share the poems that we’ve written during this past week which were inspired (hopefully!) by the photo I gave you LAST Thursday.     I do try to find interesting photos for you so we’ll have fun writing interesting poems to share.

Here’s the photo I gave you LAST Thursday for today’s poetry exchange………..following that is my poem for the photo!

“Beep Beep Baby”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©June 15, 2021

What?  No room for a passenger or a bag of food

I’d say “what’s the point” but I don’t want to be rude!

It’s more of a toy than a real mode of transport

But admittedly it takes up little room in the carport!

Tooling ’round the neighborhood would be the extent of its’ travel

If you headed out to the highway your whole life might unravel!

These things are cute I have to admit

But since I’ve gained weight no way would I fit!

What a cute little vehicle this is and there are TONS of photos of tiny cars online – some of which are just for fun but some of these tiny things are actually allowed on the road.    Thing is, you’d need to tow a wagon if you took it to the grocery store, or wanted to bring a friend, or take your cat to the vet, or take your laundry to the laundromat.    But for fun in your neighborhood – I think it would be cool.     I’d definitely put it on my Christmas list if I was still on earth – up here at the Bridge, we fly – we don’t need a tiny car!!

I found a photo that I hope will inspire you for next week’s get together.  You have a whole week to write a poem for this one:

HAHAHAHAHA……….now that’s a sandwich if I ever saw one!   Just a fun photo and I bet we can come up with something FUN in the poetry department for this one too!

SO – is it a date?   Will you come back here next Thursday and share your “ODE TO A TUMMY ACHE” about this sandwich?    See you then…………..happy writing.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love and Light, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

I like your poem today Angel Sammy and I also think my Mom would like to attack that sandwich for next week.   Maybe an inch or two at a time but she LOVES burgers as I’m sure you remember.    Sending you huge hugs.

Hugs, Teddy

  1. Ahhh….Open Wide!! My jaws ache just thinking about HOW to conquer that culinary delight! Dagwood’s Dreams come true, LOL!

    My Wheels might be cramped,
    but its stingy on gas.
    Goes all over town…
    Hey. Its got class!
    No toy, this car,
    This auto is real!
Its got that tight spot parking appeal!
    But remember this tip:
    This car is too small
    For a trip
    To the mall!

When I was in Europe eons ago, 2008, there were special little cars, 2 seaters, and a trunk even…but they had special license plates, those car were only allowed in the city limits they were registered in.
Seniors mostly drove them…that gave them a lot of independence, and I think it would be a great thing to do here, as so many peeps don’t wish to drive on the highways, but they do wish to get their own groceries and go to appointments, etc.

    • That’s a great idea……..I think there might be some senior communities here that have mini-cars as well as 3-wheel bikes for seniors to ride around in……should be MORE of that kind of thing! LOVE LOVE LOVE your poem too…it’s RIGHT SPOT ON!

  2. Sammy, that was a good poem and made mommy and me both smile. You know, next weeks gigantor hamburger has all the things on it mom would like. That car would be fun for impressing the neighbors but sure am glad it’s not mom’s mode of transportation! 🙂

    • You’re right Katie – that little car is cute but not QUITE practical. Now I would like to have it to ride around my yard in but I don’t have a driver’s license yet….darn! As for the giant-burger, my Mom says she’d be willing to tackle it. Hmm…..I need to have a crate of TUMS available if she tried!

      • I just knew your Mom would appreciate a Vespa! I think I need to get a letter to Santa in early, Teddy! I’m reading about all the things that are in short supply. After my collision with the concrete carport on my little Yamaha I might give more thought to a Vespa!

        • Ouch on a collision with a concrete carport…..One thing that’s in short supply is electric bikes like my Dad wants to get for him and Mom. But that isn’t stopping him. Mom says she’d rather have a Vespa as it’s nicer on her bottom than a bike seat. LOL

        • The reason David wants an electric bike is he wants to get SOME exercise but “cheat” and use the motor when he gets tired – PLUS – most of the walking trails around here allow them but not motorcycles or any other motorized vehicle. We really did come close though a few years ago – even picked out what color we wanted. LOL

  3. Glad your weather improved and you avoided the cicadas. We don’t have any here either. Great poem from Angel Sammy, as always. And next week’s looks like fun, thanks to your mom for finding us great inspiration. XO

  4. I think that I will never see
A hamburger as tall as a redwood tree
A burger with all its trimmings on
A burger one can put ANYTHING on
Oh, some poems are made by cooks in hats
But it takes a TOP CHEF to make something like THAT!
    Drool.

  5. Love the photo of Teddy and Sammy. Cute poem. You’d get some looks riding in that car. For some reason I am hungry. LOL. Have a great day.

    • It would be fun to take a tour of the yard in a little car but Mom says she thinks I’d feel the need for something more exciting than the yard and that could be disastrous!

  7. Fun poem, and a cute little car. We haven’t seen any cicadas yet or heard them, but they usually come here later in the summer. The only thing we like about them is catching them in our mouths:)

  8. Yay for no cicadas! They didn’t come to my house either, T. We heard the sound on You Tube and on TV, and were worried. Plus we do not like bugs AT ALL.

    • We’re not fans of bugs although I occasionally find it entertaining to chase one if it’s slow enough for me to swat at! I think that cicada thing is just about over for those who have to listen to that racket!

    • Another wonderful poem Mimi! Small cars are fine and dandy for those of us who have “smaller” worlds..mine is more a medium sized but husband has an SUV. I stick close though to our small town, etc. for errands but when it comes to taking a drive in the country – mine is better than that SUV!

    • We absolutely LOVED your poem for the “baby” car! Might be run to run around your garden in a little car but most of the things we’d chase would probably be faster than that little thing right?

    • OOh my! Painting a house is a huge project and there’s bound to be a few “whoopsies” with paint on cats and human faces too (!). Just think how NEW everything will look though after the painting is done!
