Friendly Fill-Ins on Friday

Standard

Hello Friday!  It’s about time you got here…………………..that means Friendly Fill-Ins co-hosted by 15andMeowing and Four-Legged Furballs.     That also means we get four sentences full of holes (blanks) to fill in so you can learn more about us!    I’m all for that.     If you’d like to play along click the badge above and link up with us.

Here’s today’s sentences……………..I decided to let my Mom fill in ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL the blanks this week – it’s a special treat for her instead of having to share with me!    Her words are in RED.

1. If you want a vacation these days, you have to find a quiet room in your house and close the door – that’s as close as you can get to a “vacation” during the pandemic!.
2. During the month of  August, I plan to sweat a lot as it’s our hottest month (just kidding on sweating – girls don’t sweat – we just get “dewy”!).
3. Others might think it’s strange that I only have one cat but if I COULD I’d have two – then they could be pals and buddies.
4. COOLER WEATHER seems so far away.

It has been a simply miserable Summer so far…………for a variety of reasons but one has been the incessant HEAT and HUMIDITY with only splashes of showers here and there.    Our front lawn is brown……..our birdbath is empty every morning……..maybe I’m just plain more sensitive to the temperatures now that I’m a lady of a certain age!!!!    Whatever it is, I’m tired of it and am ready for some beautiful FALL weather.    Fall and Spring are my favorites!     Oh well.    Might as well hunker down – one thing I can’t do a thing about is the weather.   PERIOD.
Now Teddy aren’t you sorry you let ME fill in the blanks today?   Tee Hee     Next week you can have them back – honest.

Hugs, Pam (and Teddy too)

  1. We are so lucky it’s rarely humid around here. And that we’ve had a mild summer so far. Although I imagine we’ll have hotter days in August and September.

  2. MY mom said her favorite season are also Spring and Fall. Next comes Winter and last, Summer. She smiled at the vacation and boy is that right. Just find a room and close the door!!! IT is just as miserably hot (been a hundred several times) and humid here, Mom said she has to keep going to the gym. Can’t stand it outside.

Oh dear me we are about to enter the dog days of August….so they say…anything is better than the horrid hot humid days of July.
One thing I have notice it is a tad darker at 6 am when we get up so the days are getting shorter..I just wish some of the ‘shorter’ happened about noon each day
Hugs and ear scratches to you and Mom

    • We hope you are feeling perky and psyched up for round two of your mouth overhaul (tee hee). You are like the energizer wabbit – keep on going. We have had humidity over 90% for days and days and days but at least we’ve had some rain….I bet we all will get more from that storm as it comes up this way! Batten the hatches!

  4. Thank you for participating in the fill-ins, great answers. So true about the weather, it seems like it has been hot for months. I don’t mind staycations because I can be with my cats. The only thing I find odd is people with no cats- don’t know how anyone can get by without a kitty in their life. Have a nice weekend. XO

    • I’m with you on that (people with no kitties)……….I really am happy that Teddy is our “baby” and at our age having more than HIM to look after probably would drive us nuts so I’m OK and he’s OK. It’s just sometimes that I think he might have fun with someone other than ME to play with! 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂

  5. Wait. What? TWO cats? Do not allow this, T. Can there be two kings of one kingdom? I don’t think so. I guess that’s why your mom has never tried this craziness.

  6. We had unusually high temperatures in March/April but since then it has been quite cool here. We almost always have high humidity year round, but it isn’t so bad when the temperature is low. Today is 65 with 95% humidity. I don’t like the heat, but a bit of sun would be nice!

    • Sixty Five sounds heavenly…..We’ve been grateful for the rain the past several days – the sun peeks out between bouts of rain……..but you’re right about humidity – if it’s cooler the humidity isn’t as bothersome – we’ve just had both heat and WET. YUCK.

  7. Howdy 🤠 We’re glad we don’t get the humidity that you do. It makes a huge difference in how hot it feels. Our vacation will be a drive to nowhere some Sunday ☀️ There are lots of ways to go in this huge empty place called Wyoming.

    • We had slightly cooler temps this past few days – highs in the mid 80s instead of upper 90s but the RAIN has brought a lot of WET WET WET atmosphere (we loved the rain part because we needed it for the grass and stuff!) – but the humidity can take a hike!

  8. It has been pretty hot and humid here too. The temps haven’t been terribly high, but the humidity has been horrific.

We don’t mind vacationing at home with Mom and Dad at all, but we think they are getting a little tired of being so confined. Dad really missed going to the movies, and Mom misses watching the grandgirls do their dancing.

    • Oh I’m sure your Mom and Dad really miss seeing the “dancing grands”……we all need to hope and pray that as people realize that they MUST DO THE RIGHT THINGS – the virus will slow down…..and hopefully take a hike. We are all OK at home for sure but we’d like to be able to feel more “freedom” !!

  10. Spring and fall are the best seasons ion my book, too. Maybe because I am a November person, I do better in cooler temps?? My sister who was born in the West Indies (Curacao), she loves the hot times better. Go figure. Also in hot and humid weather my allergies tend to be much more unbearable…thankfully these days I have prescriptions that help a lot.
Back when I was a little gal, my poor parents sometimes were at their wits end with me being a cranky miserable sniffling teary mess…

We sure could use the rains too…nit only is our grass brown, it is crunchy. Yikes. The trees, even the large ones are getting terribly stressed and dropping a lot of their leaves.

I can get to go on vacations in my minds eye when I do the teasers with you each week! Thanks!!

About being dewy…I have heard some peeps , well some ladies…say they glisten! MOL, MOL!!

    • YES – glistening is another good description but SWEAT? No – that’s definitely a guy word. HAHAHAHA My Mom lived in Taiwan for two years and that was just about the most HUMID place ever. Jungle everywhere. She lived in Florida for several years and people were complaining about humidity down there but compared to Virginia – well – all I can say is YUCK (I should say that’s what Mom says!). I don’t care what the weather is – I’m a cat and I can handle ANYTHING!!!!!!

  11. We did get to go on vacation this summer, Of course, a family member owns a condo and let us use it, otherwise we can’t. It’s okay, we took precautions while there same as at home, but at least we had some beach to walk on (very uncrowded, too).

Your comment about women getting “dewy” reminds me of Orson Wells and his comment to the press that “Horses sweat, people perspire, Miss Hayworth glows!” when someone dared suggest she was more than a bit damp while on set.

Of course, that set up the Dennis the Menace comic in which Margaret from down the street tells him, “Horses sweat, men perspire, women glow,” and he answered, “Yer glowin’ like a horse, Margaret!”

  12. The Human grew up in the Sacramento Valley where it was regularly 100+ on summer days. When she moved to San Francisco for college in the late 1960s, she thought she’d found paradise, and she still does. The consistently cool weather is her idea of heaven! And we totally feel your answer to #1! Hope you guys have good A/C!

    • We have GREAT A/C Spitty but you know, I’m a guy who likes to roam around outside (with parental supervision at all times) and I see my poor humans sweating and all drippy because of the humidity while I watch them from under a bush or pile of leaves. We don’t mind the heat – it’s the WET AIR that throws my humans into a complete tizzy. It’s good to be a cat sometimes.
