Friendly Fill-Ins

Standard

Hello and Happy Friday Friends………………………time for fill-in the blanks.   A fun Hop co-hosted by Four-Legged Furballs and 15andMeowing…………………..if you would like to hop with us, click the badge above and fill in the LINKY form!

I decided this week to give the honor of filling in to my Mom.    She and Dad are being real “troopers” with the mask-wearing, staying at home unless absolutely necessary, taking the adorable cat out whenever he wants to go – etc. so I’m letting her have this little treat all to herself today.    TAKE IT AWAY MOM…………(Her words in RED).

1. If I couldn’t live in my country, I would live in Ireland – one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever visited – a small village preferably!.
2. I wish I had kept some toys from my childhood.  (we moved every couple of years with my Dad in the Air Force and Mom would purge so many things each move – but she DID save a few things which subsequently were ruined in a flood in a basement…..some dolls and drawings of mine in particular)
3. I would choose watching movies at home over going to a movie theater.
4. Getting my way doesn’t matter in the long run.  (I believe things work out the way they are supposed to – even if it’s not MY way!!)

OK Mom – good job – and none of your answers were about yours truly.    Can we really go live in Ireland?   I’ve seen your photo album – I think I’d like it there……….all that lovely GREEN everywhere…….talk about some incredibly munchable grass!

Our grass is pretty tasty too though!

Hugs, Teddy

  1. I agree, Ireland is such a beautiful country, and the Irish are some of the friendliest people I have met.
We are seriously considering not cruising again, and if we don’t we will definitely go back to Ireland.
If for nothing else, I want to find that place with the weird lady and evil coffee, but you can bet that if we do find it we won’t be going in. I will take a photo though to prove to myself whether it really was there or indeed was a timeslip.

    • Same here on cruising………we’re glad we didn’t get excited about taking that “one last cruise” we said we’d take this year for our 30 anniversary – would have been very disappointed we couldn’t go BUTTTT best to stay off cruise ships – they seem to be “petrie dishes” for bugs! Ireland is so beautiful – we toured it on a bus trip years ago and it was fantastic fun. I have told David that we should feel TOTALLY BLESSED to have traveled as much as we have in our lives…..those days are now sweet memories.

    • Yes that happened with my Mom too and while she does have some photos and her baby shoes it’s just her old teddy keeping her company these days in the “toy memory” department!

  3. We haven’t been to a movie theater in AGES! I need to be on the couch with my bowl of popcorn! We have been watching more movies than I thought we would during lock down. Your old teddy is a wonderful old bear and my toothpaste teddy is too!

    • I think in the 30 years David and I have been married we’ve been to the movie theater TWICE. His back bothers him too much for most of the theater chairs (and he has to go to the bathroom too frequently and misses the movies!)……….and I like QUIET when I watch and coughing and talking and sneezing and laughing DISTRACT ME. Popcorn, comfy non-sticky germy seats, wearing my jammies, and a close bathroom are necessities. Gosh – I’m a bit PICKY aren’t I ??!!! HAHAHAHA You and I have a Teddy-“thing” – isn’t that fun??????

  4. So sad about yoor momma losing her childhood toys. My mom kept her Mrs. Beasley doll from Family Affair tv show. She also has a baby doll named Lucy who turns her head when a spoonful of spinach is offered. And she has a stuffed frog wearing bib overalls. She’s lugged them around with her for over a hundred years… or at least that’s how old she’s feeling what with this quarantine.

    • Oh that Lucy doll sounds adorable – that’s a new one on me! I can remember a lot of my toys but do wish I still HAD them. I had a couple of Madame Alexander dolls and even a Hummel doll that was a Christmas present when I was 3 or 4 and lived in Germany – I think my favorite though was one that hardly ANYONE remembers or even knew about which was “Poor Pitiful Pearl” – a doll that came with a patched up dress and scarf and no shoes. I found one on eBay once – not the exact one I had but close.

    • Mom and Dad especially liked being down around the ocean – you could see for miles and miles with no big tall condos or hotels in the way. Unlike here where those ocean views are where they build, build, build!!

  6. Teddy, your mom answered the fill-ins fantastically! I put Canada for #1, but Ireland was the other country I was highly considering putting. I have never been there, but it looks absolutely stunning in photos, and it has such a rich history. And I’m with you on #3. I would choose doing anything at home over going anywhere else. I love staying in with my kitties and pup. Purrs!

    • Mom says Ireland is – well – amazing and just as incredible as you might imagine it to be. Endless landscapes – mountains, wild grasses and flowers……tiny villages with friendly people – and so rich in history. She and Dad had a wonderful time there. Every single place on this planet has problems of one kind or another with local governments, environmental issues, etc., but if you’re in a peaceful place with friendly faces and all the comforts you really “need”, you can forget many of the problems. Is there a problem-free place in the world? Maybe not but we can have fun trying to find it!
