Happy Thursday! Time for us to talk about things we’re thankful for. I have to admit that I’m thankful we haven’t had any snow yet – yes we had a very very minor dusting (lasted about 60 seconds) yesterday morning but nothing before that or since. We’ve had snow as early as October so I’m not complaining believe me that we haven’t had snow. Also very thankful that the Christmas tree is up because I LOVE LOVE LOVE lying under it like so many of us do! Thankful as well that my Dad gets his booster on the 6th – then Mom and Dad will be as vaccinated as possible and I hope that keeps them protected. Mom says she thinks boosters will be required for everyone until – – – well – – – maybe a very long time if these variants keep cropping up!
Anyway, on to happier things – like Angel Sammy’s POETRY THURSDAY post………ready? Let’s do it.
♥♥♥
“YAY FOR POETRY DAY!”
Hi everyone. Hope you are well since we last met. We Angels are working overtime lately keeping our humans healthy and keeping the world as safe as we can. Of course we are just assisting the Higher Power in that but at least we feel like we’re helping! Meanwhile poetry keeps our SOULS happy – right?
You know the drill – I give you a photo and you have a week to think about it and write a poem based on how the photo makes you feel then we share it the following Thursday…………..and before you say it – YES YOU CAN WRITE POETRY – everyone can write poetry! Honest!
Here’s the photo I gave you last week for today’s poem exchange…………and my poem follows the photo.
“Our Home”
Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell ©December 1, 2021
You wouldn’t suspect it at first sight
But this planet is in a bit of a plight
The occupants aren’t taking great care
There’s hunger, sickness and despair
There’s waste, pollution and death
Too many are taking their very last breath
We know these things to be true
Yet we delay and debate what to do
As Angels do as much as they can
It’s up to each woman and man
To not waste or squander the gift
And cause the blue planet to shift
From the vibrant orb we call home
To a dark, deserted planet all alone…………..
Well I certainly hope not……………if we remember we should take better care of this beautiful world we live in and take care to live in peace then maybe – just maybe – we can turn things around. My Mom is fond of saying “things sure are different now than they were when I was a kid”……..I guess I understand that now.
SO – how about another photo for NEXT week’s poetry day? Meanwhile if you wrote one based on the Planet Earth photo, PLEASE tell us you did in comments and include a link to your post so we can read it. If you don’t have a link – you can always write your poem in our comments here and everyone can see it!
Oh yes………….the dreaded Santa visit. Actually lots of kids love it……………below is a photo of someone who appears MESMERIZED!
Yep – that’s my Mom……………I think she might have been wondering why Santa had a prison number on his chair (haha) and why his moustache was falling off his face????
So that’s it for this week everyone – have fun with the Santa photo and we’ll compare notes and poems next Thursday.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!
Big Hugs from the Rainbow Bridge……it’s been five years today since I left for the Bridge and I miss being in my house, my yard, under my Christmas tree, getting hugs from Mom and Dad……and many other things…..but I will see you ALL one day. I can promise you that! Thanks to everyone for loving me while I was here………..it was a wonderful life.
Love, Sammy
♥♥♥
Dear Angel Sammy…….you are missed – by everyone……………I miss you and I never even met you. We are brothers though and one day I can hug you in person!
Hugs, Teddy
Awww, that picture of you, Miss Pam is o sweet! I wonder what you were thinking…and next weeks, pic, those toddlers think they are being held by a big monster! They want to escape!
Here is my poem with a vague reference to the same thought as you had…oops as Angel Sammy!
Our Globe
The earth – well it spins,
On its axis they say.
One side gets night-time,
The other side – day!
Serenely floating –
A big blue ball
Spacemen saw it so serene
They saw it all.
Take care of our earth,
As it spins round and round –
On that axis, you know…
Such beauty – Air, water and ground!

Beautiful poem Ingrid…..I expect a lot of people may do similar poems to ours -looking at Earth from space it looks so serene and beautiful but we know that here – right here – things are far from serene! Thanks for contributing a poem – I think photos are amazing inspiration. I love next week’s photo – I’ve often imagined that being a “Santa” is not necessarily a FUN job!!!
Hugs, Pam

That is a lovely poem, Angel Sammy. From space Earth looks beautiful and peaceful, but the reality is very different mankind seems determined to destroy it.
We had our boosters on Monday. We had sore arms after but Ivor’s is okay now. Mine is still sore but that is the most common side effect.

I think my arm was sore after booster for about 3 days but I didn’t “feel” the soreness unless I poked my shot site! LOL I love that picture of Earth and how serene is looks from space – looks can be deceiving though can’t they!

We are certainly at a worrisome time with no easy way out of the mess we put ourselves in. It would be easier if people would stop being so greedy and shortsighted.

First of all, special thoughts for all of you on this sad anniversary. I remember that day well…. and how very sad I was for you. I’m glad that Teddy is in your lives now to bring you the happiness that only kitties can! You and I both touched on the ‘home’ aspect of today’s photo, and well, the one for next week should be fun (more fun than those two little ones were having!). Yep, our planet will survive because it will make the necessary adjustments – adjustments that we may not like – but Earth will do what Earth does because it is stronger than we think.

Sammy was one of a kind but really they ALL are. I’ve had many cats (and dogs) and each has been unique just like people. I’ve loved all of them with all my heart but Sammy took some of my heart with him….he was amazing.

With the calendar page turned to December, I’m concerned that we {still} haven’t received any snow (or moisture of any kind yet). I even had to water the garden yesterday. Hopefully brighter minds will actually do something to keep this one and only global home safe for the future.

We’ve not had any rain to speak of either – if we have had any it lasts five minutes and dries five minutes later. It’s sad and people don’t stop to wonder WHY. There should be a big old frown on that beautiful blue planet we love!

Oh, we love all the poems, but as for those two kiddoes….holy tamale! That poor guy probably wishes he hadn’t taken this day job, haha…or, rather ho, ho. So thankful for all of you getting boosted! But yes, we’ll be getting booted, I think, for a long time until the anti-vacs change things and help keep us all alive.

Sammy, we miss you bunches; though, we know you are with lots of friends, especially Fiona who led the way for you by a day. The poem this week is so powerful and well done. Mom is a little weepy between that and remembering you 😘🐈. We all love the photo of your mom as a little girl. My mom says that she does not remember ever sitting on Santa’s lap or being taken to see him. There was a huge Christmas party every year for all the kids whose parents worked for AT&T and Santa handed out presents. That’s what she remembers. Sending lots of hugs and love to your mom and dad as they remember you. Thanks for the hugs….this week five years ago was a very tough one……Fiona, Sammy and Easy all in the same week flying away. They all keep our hearts warm at holiday time and ALL the time – we know they watch out for us always. This photo of my me is the only one I have with Santa. I have a few photos from my Mom’s old photos of various Christmas trees we had in various homes around the world….but only one with Santa. Glad you liked the poem too – there were a lot of amazing poems written for this simple photo of our blue planet in space – it got people really thinking didn’t it!

Having a tree indoors to lie under is a big thankful thing, as is health and being protected as much as possible from this virus.
Excellent poem, yes, we all need to do our bit. In fact, if we’d take all the money we spend now researching whether or not climates are changing and how and whose fault it is, and use all that money to research ways to take better care of the planet, we might be able to do something about all these problems. Maybe, just a thought.
My poem is over here.
