Friendly Fill-Ins Hop

Standard

It must be Friday!    There’s that logo for the Friendly Fill-Ins….that’s a clue alright!    Four-Legged Furballs and 15andMeowing co-host this Hop every week and it’s easy to join in.   You can click the badge and find the link.    We have four sentences every week – two from each co-host and we fill in the blanks in the sentences.   Easy huh.

This week I let my Mom do all the filling in.   Yeah – just a little treat for her as she works so hard to make ME happy so I’m having her handle this week’s blanks.    Her words are in RED (Christmas Red of course!).

1. My favorite holiday film is “White Christmas”.
2. My favorite Christmas song is  “Silent Night”.
3. If you ask me, ’tis the season for joy and no worries and remembering what Christmas is all about and LOVE.
4. Sadly, Angel Sammy going to the Bridge on December 2 – the day we decorated the Christmas tree is a holiday memory I’ll never forget.

Good job Mom.    I know you and Dad miss Sammy a lot……..but I also know that you love me a lot too and I think if Sammy and I were here together with you and Dad we would WEAR YOU OUT IN NO TIME!    I talk to Sammy in my dreams and he wants you to know he loved every second of almost 17 years with you and Dad.   That’s the important thing.    Love is forever – you always tell ME that and I know it’s true.
Now, what do you say – let’s bundle up and go outside for a walk around the yard.    You can tell me more Sammy stories!   I like that.

Hugs, Teddy

  1. Yes, bittersweet memories, but so many more precious ones that are happy:)

You are doing a good job, cheering up your pawrents, Teddy.
    Yes, Love IS forever.

I love all the ‘traditional’ carols, the older the better in my mind. I really love ‘In The Bleak Mid Winter’.

Some of the old German, Polish and Czech carols are very beautiful too.

When I was in college our choir leader composed a little descant for me to play on my violin when they were singing Silent night. I love to hum that along when I hear that one…and if we sing it in church, I can lower it to sing as an alto part. Wow, that was in 1974…SO long ago! ( I wish I could still play, but the nasty and naughty Mr Arthur Itis prevents me from doing anything much anymore, sadly enough…

    • I think for many of us Christmas takes us back to when we were kids or at least younger and having all that energy and excitement about Christmas….I concentrate now in my later years thinking about what Christmas is all about and it makes me happy in a different way. I still love Christmas Carols though – ALL of them! Good for you playing violin – when I was in elementary school someone came to our class and looked at our hands (!) and told us what musical instrument we could be best to learn….they told me Flute, Piano, or Violin. I went with piano. I just never stuck with it after having lessons and because we moved every two years my Dad didn’t want to constantly move a piano around. Oh well……..

  4. Life would really be great if you could have both Sammy and Teddy together. They would be great pals; though, we agree with Teddy, they would wear you out. Mom says she can picture it. And we are not certain both of you would fit under the Christmas tree together. White Christmas is also one of her favorites! Sending lots of love to all. • Sammy was not as big as I am…..his highest weight was 14 lbs. and right now I’m 23 lbs. But we really do look a lot alike with our ginger/white. I think we could definitely fit under the tree!

    • You’re right – they do keep us in shape – we go around the house about six times and back through the woods, etc. with him so it is good exercise…….he doesn’t mind the cold but WE do!

    • Angel Sammy was definitely one of a kind…..he and Angel Madi and Angel Nellie and all the other Angels get together and sing Christmas Carols you know – and tell stories about their lives with their humans. They miss us as much as we miss them.

  6. We too miss Sammy, it is so wonderful that he spends so much time each week with you guys, Queen Nellie says they have the best time together with the other befores, he is really funny. And we gotta say, we LOVE your Mom’s fill ins! Moms favorite Christmas song is O Holy Night. The most poignant version that still echos in her memories was the midnight service and a trumpeter played it.

    • Oh I love Oh Holy Night. When it comes to saying just ONE favorite it’s almost impossible when it comes to Christmas songs. When Mom was in high school choir their choir was one of about six high school choirs that got together for a Christmas concert and sang that song….each school had a specific part to sing and until the night of the concert they had never heard all five schools choirs together – it was incredible….they blended beautifully even though they’d never practiced together. Christmas songs MAKE Christmas!!
