Sunday Selfie and A Trip Report!

Standard

Happy Sunday!    First things first – today is the Selfie Blog Hop hosted by our buddies at The Cat On My Head.   All you do is take a selfie of your fabulous self or some other fabulous “self” and post it on their Hop – click the badge above and fill out the LINK form – simple right?

Mom thinks I’m doing a lot of extra snoozing because I was at the kennel while she and my Dad were on a mini-vacation this past week……..well………..she’s right!    I didn’t sleep as well THERE as I do at home in the upstairs hallways where I can spread out and lie on my back and let it all hang out.    I know you’ve seen me in this position before but – well – who gets tired of seeing a BIG kitty lying on their back????   Am I right?   The totally hilarious thing is this – when I looked back a year ago at a photo of me (taken Oct. 29, 2017) this is what I found:

Now here’s the photo Mom took of me YESTERDAY!

Just more of me to love right?

Now, I promised that I’d talk about my Mom and Dad’s vacation last week.   They left last Monday after they dumped me off took me to the kennel where the Nuns who live there and operate the kennel welcomed me with open arms.   Then off Mom and Dad went to have FUN in York, Maine.     They flew up to Portland, got their rental car and then drove down to York.   They stayed in a VERY old Inn right on the ocean.   York Harbor Inn dates back to the 1600s!    Almost as old as my Mom and Dad!    Here’s their room and a photo of the outside of the Inn:

The food was fabulous – Mom must have told everyone in the universe this by now but she had lobster every single day.   She loves the stuff.  I bet I would too!    The highlight of their trip was visiting with Miss Ellen and her husband Mr. David from 15andMeowing.   They met them LAST year when they visited Maine and it’s turned into an annual event.   My parents said they had a fabulous time chatting and laughing over lunch.   They also all visited the Kittery Trading Post and took photos of themselves in front of the giant moose in the foyer of the Trading Post.   That is apparently also an annual event as they have photos of the same spot from LAST year.    The funny thing in this photo is it looks like the stuffed bear is whispering in Mr. David’s ear – My Dad should have sat there then HE would have known what the secret was the bear was telling Mr. David!

Mom also took some photos of the park area across the street from the Inn………it’s maintained by the town of York and was donated to them by a very well to do family many years ago.  The property and the house on it which is now a Nature Reserve are gorgeous.

Mom and Dad love going to Maine every October.   I think it’s good for them to have a little getaway……..good thing they didn’t stay long – they came to rescue me from the kennel on Thursday.   Whew!   Those Nuns would have hugged and kissed me into oblivion if I hadn’t been picked up and brought back home that day!    (HAHAHA)

Hugs, Teddy

    • Hi Mr. Herman and Mr. Bowie! My Mom and Dad love Maine very much…..I was well taken care of while they were gone so I think I will forgive them for deserting me. I’ve been hoping that you are doing better Mr. Bowie. All of us who know you and love you sure hope so.

    • Hi Miss Cecilia! There was a lot of hugging going on with my Mom and Miss Ellen and they SPECIFICALLY had an extra one because you asked for it to be from you! YAY! Kittery is also a very cute town – there are so many along the water……York was fabulous. First time there for Mom and Dad as they used to go to Ogunquit every year. They liked York even better.

  2. I got all excited when I heard Mrs H read Moose mentioned but it turned out to not be the cream laden sort I like MOL, Looks absolutely wonderful out that way, and very refreshing too. We are glad your staff had such a great time, and that you, Teddy, have more carpet room to inspect and roll out the lumps from 😉

    • Hi ERin……I am very good at ironing out the carpet in that upstairs hall. My weight takes all the wrinkles out – so what if I leave some fur behind right? Yeah sorry the Moose wasn’t Mousse – I agree with you on that one!

  3. Teddy, you are so cute times two! All that gingerness… love how your darker ginger stripes are so distinctive.
So happy your Mom and Dad had a lobstah filled vacation and had a well deserved getaway. Meeting up with Miss Ellen and Mr. Dave was the cherry on top of the sundae!
Enjoy your Sunday Teddy and Family!

    • Glad you like my photos Miss Pix. I take up a lot of space in the upstairs hall. Mom is always tiptoeing around me as best she can. Mom and Dad really did it up when it came to fresh seafood…..scallops, oysters, lobstah, clams – they kind of DID IT ALL! The best part was seeing Miss Ellen and Mr. David though….such SWEET peeps!

  4. Oh Teddy, I am so glad you posted this and the pictures too. Mommy said she wishes she were smack dab in the middle of the four to meet and talk. She has said every now and again that she wishes there was a grand meeting place for all of us in the CB to come and be together and just enjoy knowing everyone in person. XXXX

    • That would be swell to have a HUGE meet-up but I suppose there’s no good one place everyone could or would go to for that. Thank heavens for the world of the internet where meetings are always possible!!!!! Glad you liked Mom’s photos. They had an EPIC time even for such a short trip. Part of their annual “thing” is seeing Miss Ellen and her hubby.

That is too funny that the bear is whispering in my hubby’s ear- he won’t tell me the secret either 🙂 We had such a wonderful time. Can’t wait to do it again next year. XO

    • Maine should be on everyone’s bucket list for October! Not too cold yet (even though Mom and Dad had a little snow on the way to the airport to leave Portland on Thursday!)………and the leaves are pretty and the seafood – well – it’s ALWAYS good. My Mom mostly loves the little tiny towns/villages along the water……….so peaceful!

    • Hi Summer! Yep – my Mom and Dad have been going to Maine in October for years now. They love the tiny towns, the quiet shore, the waves and seagulls and lobster boats….and most of all THE SEAFOOD! I missed them but have forgiven them for abandoning me. Maybe it was because the Nuns spoiled me so much????

  11. Our Petcretary and our Auntie drove through Maine to get to New Brunswick seemingly centuries ago (Sept 1979?), and other than the road mostly all they could see was trees and more trees and logs beside all those tall trees. Evidently it was logging time. Of course we didn’t see any pretty historic towns like where your peeps were…she needs to go another time to see all that beauteous sea and the towns around it.

Glad your peeps had such a great time. Mini vacations are a great way to recharge:)
Petcretary is taking a week off soon…in early November to visit her sister and a lot of her cousins.
And though the bear was in cahoots with Mr Dave, we think that moose was trying to say a word to your dad, too! MOL!

Our Angel Toki used to lie like that, Teddy…he was 21 pounds of blue meezer…and he loved our Angel MJF…they were besties…Toki ran off to the RB way before we started anything socially online…

Sheesh ,we are wordy today. tee-hee!

    • Hi Gang! If your Petcretary drives through Maine again, there is a road along the water that she’d enjoy – Shore Road or Route 1 – parallel to the coastline and so gorgeous and filled with tiny interesting old towns. Anyway, Maine is pretty – Mom and Dad saw the leaves starting to change but not as far along as they were last year at this time when they visited. Hope your Mom enjoys her trip in November! I’m also glad to hear that someone else – your Angel Toki – was a Big BOY too.

When we first saw the photo of the two Davids, we didn’t notice the bear. That was too funny. Thanks for hopping. Have fun at the Jamboree. • Hi Gang! Yeah all that lovey-dovey stuff was embarrassing. Aren’t those photos funny? Obviously I have my favorite spot in the hall upstairs and my favorite position right down to the angle I am lying in on the floor. Weird. I have more belly up photos than you can believe. Mom is fascinated with them I think! The Jamboree has been……………interesting hasn’t it!!
