Time for Friday’s Filling In fun…………………I asked Mom if she’d like to fill the blanks in as a special treat. She said “sure”……….so the RED stuff in the sentences below will be HER words. This is such a fun exercise and we thank our cohosts of Friendly Fill-Ins for having such a great blog hop every week. Each of them contributes two sentences to the HOP………..and when we visit everyone who is in the Hop we get to learn new stuff about everyone. It’s a fun way to get to know everyone better!
Here are the four sentences for this week:
Well Mom, guess what – I have never seen a snake but if you don’t like them then I don’t like them! I know when we are out in the yard on a walk and I’m playing in the leaves around the yard you worry when I get all FUZZED UP on ALERT with bushy tail, etc. and I stare at the leaves like something is moving there…….but you know I get like that when I see a bug or a leaf blows out of the pile so it doesn’t mean there’s a vicious snake there. I’m just ALERTING! I know it freaks you out though so I’ll try not to do that as much as I like to (hahaha).
C’mon Mom – let’s go for another walk……………………….let’s see what we can find out there together! HAPPY FRIDAY EVERYBODY!
Hugs and Purrs to you and your mom. Love your photo. x😻🐾🐾🐾

My human LOVES snakes… has ever since she was a kid (in case you are wondering, she was NOT popular in grade school!). She was thrilled when she saw a little garden snake on our property recently… the same kind she used to have as pets when she was young.

For the fill-ins:
1. Love is what enables me every day.
2..Having surgery…used to scare me. After my heart surgery, now, not so much.
3. If mommy grew on trees, I would make sure no one and no animal suffered.
4. I have a fear of doctors!
See ya tomorrow Teddy. Smoochies!

Mom and I are color coordinated today. Mom always makes a comment about how cute I look when I’m walking with my Dad – my harness is denim and his jeans are denim and she thinks that’s “CUTE”…..I don’t think she even thought about the fact SHE wears jeans all the time so WE look like twins out there too! So you and my Mom are SURGERY VETERANS huh? No wonder you’re both so special!

My Mom’s shoes are “SLOGGERS” garden shoes and they keep her toesies from getting wet……Mom says too bad they don’t make kitty sloggers. Mom is awfully happy that we don’t see many snakes around here. Funny that other people see them a lot like our neighbors for instance but NOT here – maybe they’ve heard through the grapevine that my Mom will scream bloody murder if she sees them and they are afraid they’d go deaf – oh – wait – nevermind – snakes don’t have ears do they……

I don’t like snakes either, and long ago when Eric and Flynn were allowed out unsupervised in the fields before the “purrison fence” was built, Flynn found a nest of baby vipers and took great delight in bringing them back for me one by one. Vipers are the only venomous snake in the UK.
The fence was put up soon after, but that was because Eric was starting to wander onto neighbouring farms.

Yeah, snakes, not exactly warm and fuzzy. Scary to just come up on. Now Geckos, creepy too. You think they are cute but when it is dark and you are coming home and look up on the porch ceiling and there 4 or 5 staring down at you, that will get a scream out of you. I know. Would have never known you were grumpy over those two recent surgeries! Glad they are healing well ♥

HAHA on the geckos…yeah I would not like to see a pile of them anywhere! As for grumpiness after surgery it’s not the discomfort that has me grumpy, it’s that I’m TIRED OF DEALING WITH this icky “C” stuff! Over 30 years of wondering when it was going to sneak back up on me again and having it do just that. So I’m grumpy that I got it again but in the scheme of things, HAPPY that it wasn’t worse!!!! One thing I will never like is snakes though – I’ll take ten geckos staring at me over one snake any old day! EEEEEEEEEK!

Teddy, your mom did such a fantastic job with the Friendly Fill-Ins! That is a most perfect answer for #1. And I just love that you live in the woods. My dream home would be in the woods or in a forest. Your #4 really resonates with me. I have only directly met a couple snakes in my lifetime, but even so, just the thought of them kind of makes me squeamish. Happy Friday, friends!

My Mom and her first hubby had a cabin in the mountains on five acres of woods. It was heavenly (she says). I’m glad she’s HERE and that I can protect her from whatever is lurking in our woods. How blessed you are to live in the woods! Isn’t it wonderful? I grew up in the woods and really miss it. We live in town and I am just NOT a town girl. 🙂
I like to try to photograph snakes. Me and the yard wigglers here have an agreement. They can be in the yard, so long as they don’t bite anybody.

The property our community was built in used to be a huge bit of land just used for hunting……it was a mixture of farmland and woods and we purposely purchased a tract of land in the wooded area to build out house. We were one of the first houses built here and now there are 223 of them! Anyway, we love the big huge oaks, maples, and other assorted trees. They make for a lot of “Fall cleanup” but it’s worth it. The snakes were here well before we were so while we give them “squatters rights” we don’t particularly want to SEE them out and about! I’m glad you have an agreement with those in your yard!!

Wow! I don’t think I’d like having so many neighbors as you have! What we have is nowhere near what you have, but is way too many for my comfort. Our direct neighbors when I was a kid were dairy cows. 🙂
It sounds like you have a beautiful property with all those trees. We get a lot of tree fall here in our yard, but not until Spring.
The agreement between me and the snakes has gotten me some fun photos along the way. You can see two of them here (if you like): Snake 1 and Snake 2. The coral snakes have been too fast for me to photograph so far. One went by me so fast that I thought I was seeing a swarm of yellow jackets. haha
Have a blessed day.

WOW…….I kind of think of all snakes as killers (!!) – I know many of them are harmless but I just can’t get around the feeling that they will “get me” so I run like a little kid! The photos you took are good though – so many snakes move like lightning (which is part of what scares me I think).

True, some are harmless in that they aren’t venomous, but they can make you hurt yourself while you try to get away from them. It’s usually not good to run from them, though that is a perfectly normal response. We’re supposed to walk away as calmly as possible. Hard to do, though, when they startle us! First response is pee our pants, then run! 🙂 Or, be really efficient and do them both at the same time.
Thanks for the compliment on the pictures. I wish it hadn’t been such a low-light situation when the coral snake fell on me in our carport recently. I would have loved to have photographed that one!
Have a blessed night.

I would have fainted dead away…………….a snake falling on me? NO THANK YOU!!!!! EEEEEEEEK

I can understand that. 🙂 While I didn’t faint, it did startle me, so I jumped. I didn’t know what had bounced off my back. It had apparently been on the sign above the storage room and when I opened the door, it fell off and bounced off me. I turned to see if I could figure out what got me, and there was the snake. Well, then….I figured if I was going to be eaten by a snake, somebody needed to know about it, so I hollered for David to come out (this was in the middle of the night, mind you). It got away. It went under the water heater and I haven’t seen it since.
This was the second one to fall on me. The first one was on our dining room table and fell off onto my feet as I was cleaning. We weren’t using the table at that point, so I guess it thought it was okay for it to use it.
Hopefully there won’t be anymore falling on me. 🙂
