Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Today We’re THANKFUL with Brian and Poetic with Sammy!

Thursday is our “two posts for one” day – we’re starting off with being Thankful on Thursday with our friend Brian (click badge above) and joining his Thankful Blog Hop.   We all share what we’re thankful for and it’s fun to see what everyone has been thankful for the previous week.   If you click the badge you will go there and you can join up with the rest of us!

I have a kind of silly thankful this week – today is day TWO of some incredible weather here in Virginia.   It’s February and we have two days in a row of almost 80 degrees.   That is TRULY weird.   Oh a “normal” February day, it’s anywhere from 30 -45 degrees and maybe some snow thrown in the mix.   We even DID have snow this past Saturday!    Anyway, it’s been glorious and I’ve been able to get Mom and Dad to take me out on the front porch for some SUN and some fresh air and lots of walks around the yard.   I’ve dug some holes, eaten some grass and rolled around in the dirt!   LIFE IS GOOD.   Tonight cold comes back so I’ve been very THANKFUL for a break!

Onward to part two of our blog today which is when we get to see the poem Angel Sammy sent us for his Poetic Thursday challenge……………

♥♥♥

It’s Poetic Thursday my friends…

Nice to be with you all today – Thursday is MY day with what used to be MY blog but my little brother Teddy is now hosting.    He does a great job but gives me some space to do MY thing on Thursdays.    Every week I give you a PHOTO and your challenge is to write a poem about that photo – what does it make you think about, what do you feel when you look at it, what comes to mind, etc.    It’s a lot of fun……..AND everyone can write a poem if you just try.     Honest!     After I share my poem from this past week’s photo, I’ll give you a NEW photo for NEXT Thursday to write a poem about……….

Here was last week’s Photo inspiration:

Alone

By Angel Sammy Kimmell   Feb. 22, 2018

There are times when we really want to be alone

No knocks on the door, no ringing telephone

Just relaxing in the quiet of a “newborn” day

No questions asked – so no answers to say

But being alone isn’t always the best

We might have a problem to get off our chest!

We might need some help with a problem or two

Or perhaps there are times when only a hug will do…

Still, it’s important to feel “whole” when we’re just one

For each of us has a journey of our own to be done

The road we each travel is ours to complete

Although having a partner makes the trip much more sweet.

Sometimes it’s good to be alone………..but sometimes we really don’t want to be alone and need a friend or partner to be there for us and with us.    We are though individuals over and above what we are with others so we HAVE to be comfortable within ourselves.   My Mom says she learned this when she was single after being married the first time!!   She didn’t know how to be ONE – she only knew how to be HALF of two!     I was always alone being an “only kitty” but to tell you the truth, I was always MUCH happier when my Mom and Dad were there with me………….  That was the inspiration for my poem today.    And “ALONE” was the first thing that popped into my head when I wrote my poem for today.

Did you write a poem?   If you did, how about giving us the link to your poem in my comments?   We can ALL read it!   If you didn’t write one – join us next week……I promise you’ll have fun.    Now for next week’s photo inspiration!!

This one ought to be fun right?   I’ll see you next week – can’t wait to see what you do with this photo…………..it’s thought-provoking for sure!

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks my brother!    That was a doozy of a poem…………….and I’ll be looking forward to next Thursday when we get together again to be THANKFUL and to read POETRY together!!!

Hugs, Teddy

P.S.

We learned this morning that Sarge – Blogville’s favorite pawlice chief and friend to all, has left for the Rainbow Bridge.   We hadn’t heard from him in a long time and then when we did – it was this sad news……..we will always remember this special guy.   You can leave a message for his family HERE

    • Glad you like our poem Madi – we most certainly LOVED yours! We thought it would be a good photo inspiration and it has been from the poems we’ve already read. Next week’s photo is a goodie too! We have been thinking about Sarge’s family this morning….he was such a special guy and we are sad.

  2. Good morning, guys (and Mom Pam)!
You’re right, Teddy, this weather has been so nice! Not that either of us get to go outside, since we aren’t leash-trained, but we enjoy it from inside.
Great poem once again, Angel Sammy, and that is quite an interesting picture for next week!

    • We thought it would be a fun photo for our poets out there! Glad you liked the one Angel Sam wrote for that island shot. It looks like a rainy day here with a cold front moving in but that’s OK with me. I’ll be happy no matter WHAT the weather is!

    • Angel Sammy knew Sarge – but he’d kind of stopped blogging by the time Sammy went to the Bridge so I didn’t know Sarge. He was the Police Chief in Blogville for a long time and quite a dear woofie to all. The warm weather is over here – we’re heading back to the 40s after a TREAT of two days in the high 70s!

  5. I didn’t know you were a hole digger Teddy, I bet that is fun. Excellent poem Angel Sammy, it is good to be alone to collect our thoughts- for me, it has to be inside though 🙂 Very sad news about Sarge. XO

    • Alone isn’t so bad – and sometimes we get to know ourselves better if we spend some time alone….maybe not on a bug-invested island though! LOL We were so excited to see a post from Sarge until we read it…..we are sad too.

  6. Humans like to scuba dive to experience life under the water. Well, I guess that bridge is how fish “scuba dive” in our air. I’m sure some tourist company is charging a hefty fee at one end of the bridge for fish to walk across it… maybe with a tank of water strapped to their backs.

    • HAHAHA! This sounds reasonable to me (no I haven’t had a glass of wine this early in the day!) – and wouldn’t surprise me if some tourist company is charging big bucks for “air-diving” tours for all those fish who are interested in experiencing the “other world”…..kinda like hang-gliding companies that charge big bucks for humans who want to experience being a bird. 🙂 I googled “bridge to nowhere” and this was one of many images that popped up – some of which were even more disturbing than this one!

  7. You always write beautiful poems,Angel Sammy.
Is next week’s photo the bridge in Scotland? We were travelling around staying at bed and breakfasts many years ago and there was a footbridge over a river into the sea. When the tide came in it looked like it was in the middle of the sea. I am sure it was Scotland but haven’t any idea where after all this time.
It was well before I had a digital camera and didn’t take many photos back then. The ones I did take I always forgot to write down where they were, but I know I would remember if I had taken one of this bridge. We saw it during the day, but this sunset photo makes it look so much more spectacular.
I didn’t know Sarge, but send my condolences to his family.

  8. Your poems are always so thought-provoking, Angel Sammy. This one is no exception giving us all reason to pause and think. There are a lot of good messages in those lines.

Oh, that photo looks like a very interesting one – we can’t wait to see what everyone comes up with.

    • We didn’t know Sarge for long but since Angel Sammy sent to several “Blogville” events he got to know Sarge as the “top cop” of Blogville. Glad you liked the poem today – being alone is easier to do when you’re “happy” with yourself…….but being with someone is pretty nice too especially when it’s your MOM!!!!!!

    • Yep – I think we ALL would although my Momma wants a cabana boy and an endless supply of fruity drinks with umbrellas in them and all I want is a blanket to lie on in the shade and a big bowl of treats! We definitely would have different experiences on that island!

    • Your Mom can do anything and I am sure she will enjoy finding out who she is again…..different circumstances of course but my Mom says she is so glad that she was able to figure that out back when she became single again after 17 years. It was a whole lot of learning for her but during THAT time she began oil painting and writing poetry and discovered that even though she hadn’t been CONSCIOUS of it, she had changed a lot from who she was when she had married so young. Anyway Miss Sharon, it takes time to find your “new HAPPY” but it will come.

  11. Sammy, we hope you can forgive us for not having a poem this week. Mom thinks she should still write one saying that Lisbeth has been banished to that island. MOL! We liked your poem very much, but then we always do. You are the master. Next week’s photo looks good. Mom already has an idea. So sad about Sarge. We will, of course, pay a visit.
