Hi everybody and welcome to the start of another week. Here in Warrenton, Virginia we’re hoping to get a tiny bit of a break from the heat – Sunday it was 95 degrees which is a little toasty – even for ME! I was out in the morning with Mom (went down on Dad’s little “project trail” in fact) and then it started to heat up. She couldn’t even TEMPT me out on the front porch after it got in the mid-80s. I preferred this:
- ……zzzzzzzzzzzz……
My parents had a dinner time cookout on the back deck and invited me to come out and join them and I just kind of looked at them through the door and sent them via kitty telepathy the message:
Ya gotta be kidding me!
SO, I hopped up on the couch while they sat on the deck. They enjoyed their cookout and I enjoyed the couch:
- ……zzzzzzzzzzzz……….
So it was a WIN/WIN for all of us.
Now today is supposedly (although it’s too early just now to know for sure) going to be a little cooler and there’s a chance for some rain. Daddy is going to TRY to go to the airport and fly for a while and Mom wants to go shopping. I, on the other hand have no plans that involve what kind of weather may come our way. It’s Monday after all…..a day to contemplate the week ahead and wonder whether Mom will bring home anything interesting for me when she does her grocery shopping this week. Such weighty concerns I have on my weary old mind huh?

I have been owned by cats throughout much of my life, and until I “met” you, I had very little idea what a tough job it was to be a cat! Hi Miss Linda! Well I’m mighty glad you “found me” too and that you’re learning a lot about the TERRIBLY busy days and nights that most of us cats have. Even though a lot of humans are around cats I’m not sure they really think about things from OUR perspective so I thought maybe if I blogged it would help! It’s a tough job being a companion to a human…..trying to figure out what you’re going to do next is maybe the toughest thing (next to house patrol for intruders of course). Anyway, it takes a whole lot of rest to keep up with you all so next time you see a sleeping cat, you’ll remember he or she is probably recharging their batteries to stay alert!

Hi Sundae! Are you enjoying your company? We have the same weather forecast for tomorrow that you do but we probably could all use a bit of a soak anyway right? Just no noisy storms! Hi Sammy !!
Well . . . yesterday my Mom & Dad started “growing” this really HUGE blue thing in our back yard. Jasper & I watched over them all afternoon and into the late night. They were so busy “growing” that big huge blue thing that they paid very little attention to us. We had to try to protect them by watching out the dining room windows the whole time. They finally went to bed around midnight. But . . . they were up MANY times during the night watching their huge blue thing “grow”. I think it may be a huge bath tub for a Lion or a Tiger . .or could be for an Elephant for all I know !! One thing I positively DO know . . .they will NEVER get me near it. It is really big and full of WATER !!! I heard Mom talking about it being an “above ground pool”. I sure hope they don’t plan on getting into it !!! How can I even think about protecting them. I HATE water in anything except my water dish !! Why on earth would anyone WANT to get in a big tub of water?? Dad keeps saying how much fun they will have in it. I thoroughly do not understand them on that issue.
Anyway . . . Jasper and I are SO TIRED from all that watching yesterday and all night. We will have to sleep all day to get caught up on our beauty sleep.
By the way . . .today is my Mom’s first day of her “retirement”. She says she will have lots more time to brush Jasper & I. I really love that idea!! Hope she doesn’t spend too much time in that HUGE tub of water in our back yard.

Well Hi Sammy! Long time no see….my Mom told me about your Mom’s retirement and I think it’s GREAT that you’ll get more brushes out of the deal! I know I sure did when my Mom retired – and great lap naps as well. So you have some kind of great big bathtub growing in your backyard huh? That’s kind of scary. It just sort of popped up over the weekend and your parents are excited about it? Humans are so silly. I’m with you about water – keep it in my water bowl and that’s that! You and Jasper can watch from INSIDE the house while your parents play in the great big bathtub OUTSIDE….I have a feeling they won’t be trying to take you out and stick you in it anyway – remember that no matter how old humans get, they still act like little kids from time to time! Tee Hee

Red sky here this morning. Doesn’t the saying go: “…sailors take warning”? Weather Channel said it’s supposed to storm here later today (confirming that old saying) and we were gonna drop our first hay field this afternoon. It’s looking like tomorrow instead!

I’m with you, Sammy, on the “gotta be kidding”…I love my air conditioning! I think we’re supposed to get those ‘showers’ tomorrow. Last Tues. they predicted scattered showers and it rained ALL day…huh! Some scattered, NOT!

Hi Miss Caren…..well, today (Tuesday) is a whole other world from yesterday’s heatwave. It’s raining AND a whole lot cooler. Rain = good napping so it’s OK with me. I think the humidity right now is about 500% (!!!) but indoors is comfy!

Sounds like yesterday was hotter in Virginia than it was in coastal North Carolina, Sammy! We have rain here today and I think our high is only to be around 78. The rain and cooler temperatures are welcome! It is usually too hot here for us!

Wow! It’s hotter there than here in Las Vegas! We only got up to 87 yesterday, with 7% humidity. We hope you have lotsa fans!

WOW! 7% humidity is something we’ll NEVER have here in Virginia I’m quite sure. It gets so icky humid here in the summer time. But today it’s a lot cooler (in the 70s and raining like crazy). We do have lots of fans but when Mom puts one of the overhead fans on, I don’t like it – too much like having a hawk or some other big bird flying around up there!!!!

Isn’t weather the weirdest thing? For you, yesterday was way, WAY too hot and for me, yesterday was damp and kind of cold. Today is warmer though and the sun is out making everything fun & bright. purrs

Hey Nerissa! Mommy and I have been TRYING to post a comment about Connie’s pill taking phobia (which seems quite sensible to me – pills are icky). This ancient computer (and dial up connection!) make it hard for poor Mom and me to comment sometimes but we’ll keep trying. You’re right about weather – it’s rather weird and unpredictible. Today it’s raining like crazy here but yesterday it was hot and sunny. Go figure. Good thing napping is available no matter what weather we get huh?

Hi Little Satchie! I know you probably have a LOT of energy so running is a great way to use it all up. Just be careful and don’t knock stuff over because your Mommy might not like that! Oh Satchie I remember when I was little I used to run super fast too! Up and down the stairs and around all the furniture….it’s great exercise for you and makes you grow big and strong too! As for your big brother not playing with you – I think he’s just still getting used to having a baby brother around. You guys will be BESTEST BUDDIES before you know it! We’re glad he’s feeling better…

Oh I think it’s VERY possible you and your big brother will be running together one day and probably soon! Hi Miss Melanie! Mom and I loved your mushroom pictures today. I always enjoy having a good sniff when I find them in the woods. Often when I’m pawing away at the dirt/debris/leaves to – er – um – “do my business” out there I’ll uncover some interesting mushrooms. They smell DELIGHTFUL but Mom never lets me lick them – who knows if they might be poison!!!!

Hi Savannah – welcome back to the blogosphere! I hear you on the overhead fan thing. I hate them too – they look way too much like great big birds coming down to peck me on the head (which has actually happened to me out in my yard!!). If they aren’t on too high I can sort of tolerate them but I can definitely do WITHOUT them!!!
