It’s Monday and time for a SPARK. “SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when she stopped blogging some time ago. It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it. Although Annie isn’t currently blogging, a lot of us who enjoyed her SPARKS decided to keep posting SPARKS of our own.
Since it’s July 4th I wanted my SPARK to be inspiring and “related” to living here in the US of A……….I really liked this quote and I hope you do too.
This quote really does speak to me. We are learning that we must be brave in more ways than we probably ever dreamed we would need to be. That takes strength and I think we’ve proved we have that too. Sometimes we have some “not so proud” moments but doesn’t everybody? Today I’m going to focus on the good things……….! I’m also going to hope that tonight the neighborhood isn’t too noisy with fireworks which will just terrorize people’s pets and after all – we don’t need fireworks to remind us it’s July 4th.
well said… happy birthday to the land of the free…

Thanks Weims and company….those of us who have freedom must never take it for granted. Ever. May I suggest that to celebrate America’s July 4th you all put a big firecracker in the street toilet that was recently deposited on your sidewalk and send it to the moon???? LOL Maybe it would look nicer with some flowers painted on it…???????

Beautiful and moving spark, and yes, bravery is needed so much right now, to stand up for equality and women’s rights, and legal voting and to stand strong against those who would corrupt our nation, overthrow the constitution, treat fellow human beings as lesser creatures than themselves, and who, somewhere along their lifelines, were taught to hate (The King and I). Don’t get me started but do, Teddy, have a nice little bite of whatever it is you can bite on July 4th!

Well said! VERY well said…..My Mom sometimes says “things didn’t used to be like this when I was young” and I guess those were kinder times (or at least quieter)….We are all hoping that HONOR, TRUST, and BRAVERY will prevail. Sending you hugs from me and my family!!
Love, Teddy

Happy Independence Day!
Nice spark to go with the day…and yes we need our bravery so much.
Each day is a kind of mystery until we walk on the path it offers…so we need to be brave and just walk on!
Else the day will be lost…

Judging by yesterday, our neighbors must have used up all their fireworks before the third was over. Fortunately, are cats are not bothered.

I’m hoping the fireworks supplies around here are depleted too! I didn’t see Teddy last night so I’m guessing he was in his hidey hole in the basement as he really does NOT like loud noises.
Happy 4th, Pam

A great spark for the day – especially in these crazy times when bravery by our elected officials is (at best) slim. Happy Fourth …. and good luck Teddy!

Mom and I agree. There is no reason for fireworks. I am not afraid of them, but we think they’re just a lot of noise and fuss for no reason.
Love and licks,

A very true and wonderful Spark! Happy 4th of July to you! We haven’t heard hardly a pop but planning for a change in about two hours. Going to be interesting to see how obnoxious and noisy it can get. Hope you all had good FOOD and Teddy had a skink to chase. I looked at your weather and it was beautiful today!

Oh it was a gorgeous day and we were outside for most of it…………..Teddy sleeping under the dwarf red maple tree, David and I in lawn chairs in the shade……..perfect day and we hope you and SSNS had the same!! It did get noisy last night though – for about an hour or so. Hopefully a QUIET NIGHT for everyone tonight!
