Bakin’ With Bacon and THE KING!

Standard

Hello Bacon Friends!   It’s Saturday and time for another recipe for you to try!!

My Mom and Dad have a tradition of “Friday Night Pizza”………….sometimes they have a frozen pizza then add all kinds of toppings to it – sometimes they make a pizza from scratch and sometimes they do a combination of those things.    One thing that they both love is fresh asparagus and while this sounds “different” as a pizza topping – it sure is good – especially with bacon and cheese on it with a DASH of heat from the red pepper flakes!     I bet you like it if you try it!

YUMMMMARINO!   Mom and Dad really love this………..sometimes Mom uses feta instead of the herbed spreadable cheese on top.   You know pizza is one of those things that you can make out of almost ANYTHING you love and it turns out delicious every time.    SO – this is just another one of those “gotta try it” recipes.   ENJOY

Ingredients

  • 1 prebaked 12-inch pizza crust
  • 6 teaspoons olive oil, divided
  • 1 cup shredded part-skim mozzarella cheese (or feta or WHATEVER)
  • 2-1/4 cups cut fresh asparagus (1-inch pieces)
  • 8 bacon strips, cooked and crumbled
  • 1/2 cup garlic-herb spreadable cheese (about 3 ounces)
  • 1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper flakes

Directions

  • Preheat oven to 450°. Place crust on an ungreased 12-in. pizza pan or baking sheet and brush top with 4 teaspoons oil. Top with mozzarella cheese, asparagus and bacon. Drop spreadable cheese by teaspoons full over pizza. Sprinkle with pepper flakes; drizzle with remaining oil.
  • Bake 12-15 minutes or until cheese is lightly browned.

GREAT ADVICE!

Have a Baconized Weekend everyone!   Your King

A Reminder that Sawyer needs us all to pray that he finds his way home ASAP!

    • I do try very hard – sometimes I “slip up” like when I decide to go to places I’m not supposed to but hey – cats are curious right? Can’t fight my instincts!!!!!

    • No not members at Costco BUT our local grocery has pizza kits and they are a good start – the fun is adding your own goodies to the toppings. Pizza is our Friday night treats!

  1. Mom says that she never would have thought of putting asparagus on a pizza. Sounds interesting, especially with the Boursin cheese. Thanks for continuing to share Sawyer. There was a bunny in the backyard this morning, but alas, no Sawyer. XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy & Kizmet

    • This pizza really is terrific – I’m a HUGE fan of asparagus so it appealed to me to try it. Sometimes I wish we could TALK to the animals – you have to wonder if the wildlife has seen Sawyer – they would be the ones to spot him most of the time not humans – but STILL the boy is finding food somehow and you have to feel humans are involved. It’s just been SOOOO long since he took off. We will keep on sharing info on that boy because we love him and care about ALL of you.

    • Oh yes – Sawyer’s parents are super worried – the unknown with the seizures makes it so much worse too. Anyway, they continue passing out flyers and looking everywhere. As for artichokes on pizza – YUM – that’s delicious too. Asparagus is just another delicious thing to try!

    • Bacon wrapped asparagus is delish but this is a really wonderful recipe too – especially for humans like my Mom and Dad who like pizza as a treat on Friday nights! This one has Mom’s fave veggie, Mom and Dad’s fave breakfast item (bacon), and Dad’s fave cheese. Can’t beat that with a stick right? YUM-A-Roo is right!

    • Pizza is good with all kinds of things on it isn’t it. Kind of a “whatever you like” sort of meal and that’s part of the reason we have it every Friday- so we can experiment!!
