Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Ahhhh…..another Thankful Thursday is here.   Thanks Brian for hosting this Hop – we are enjoying keeping up in these crazy times with our friends and hearing what they are thankful for.    If you’d like to join in please do – click his badge and link up with us.    We continue to be very thankful that we’re healthy and we hope and pray all of you are too.    We’re also thankful that we are getting a break from the heat – we have rain in our forecast for almost the whole NEXT WEEK!    Not a LOT of rain but rain nonetheless.   Enough to keep the green stuff out in the yard GREEN anyway.

We’re also thankful Angel Sammy – who we miss more than ever – got his Poetic Thursday email through the gathering clouds in time to be part of our post today.    Ready to see what he had to say?

♥♥♥

Good Morning Poetic Friends!

Time for us to share poetry.    If you don’t know by now, every Thursday I transmit to my brother from the Rainbow Bridge, a message AND a poem I’ve written inspired by a photo that I thought might be fun for ALL of us to write poetry about.     You have a whole week to write a poem and share it here.    It’s fun – give it a try!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week, followed by my poem……………..I found this magical photo a FUN one to use as inspiration for my poem and I hope you did too.

“Decisions”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell        ©June 17, 2020

Down life’s path we wander along

Hearts full of sadness or full of song

Decisions we make as our journey unfolds

Bring joy or pain or surprises untold

You reach a crossroad and wonder which way to go

Take the easy road that’s light or the darker way that’s slow

Challenges make us stronger and our spirits hunger for change

Do we grab the first chance that comes along or go for the long range?

When all is said and done and our lives are at their close

Will we look back at our life’s journey at the pathways that we chose?

Oh I suspect we will all do a little soul searching when our time comes…………or maybe even along the way of our lives.    The photo we gave you this week has a million different scenarios that come to mind when you examine it closely.    I hope you took some time to write a poem about what you SAW in this photo.   It’s a DEEP photo in many ways.     There are so many messages in it that it’s almost mind boggling.    The more you look – the more you see.     That’s JUST the way life is – the more you look the more you see and the wider your life experience will be!

That’s enough philosophy for the day………how about taking a look at next week’s photo?     This photo was sent in by a wonderful friend and she’d seen it online and thought “that’s a GREAT photo for a poem” – I think she is absolutely right.     Have fun with this one…………..

Isn’t this beautiful?    What do you see?

Now I want to ask you for a favor…………please follow the guidelines that you on Earth have been given to avoid getting the virus – it’s important – your family needs you, your WORLD needs you and it’s a small price to pay to continue your life isn’t it?     Don’t be impatient – things will change – they already ARE changing.     All of us Angels at the Rainbow Bridge are hoping you will not be in a big hurry to leave your life there.    We’ll be waiting for you so be joyful, love life, and most of all BE CAREFUL!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love and Light………..Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Gosh Angel Sammy – thanks for the poem AND the advice!    We hope our humans will pay attention…………..we need them to be HERE with us !!   I miss you!

Love, Teddy

  2. Another lovely poem, Angel Sammy. The path on the right is the one we need to take when younger, full of adventure discovery and excitement. When we are older and have slowed down we should be allowed to take the easier peaceful path. Of course life doesn’t always work like that.

    • Mom agrees with you Miss Jackie – the photo absolutely has SOOOOOOOOOOOO many messages in it – the poems we’ve read this morning are amazing. You are right (Mom says) – as we age we should have an EASIER path to travel but it isn’t always that way……….but we keep on going.

    • Yes you are SO right……we may wonder along the way (or even at the end of the road) if we did the right thing and took the right path but if you did the best you could do no matter what – then you absolutely DID choose the best path and learned a lot!! 🙂

    • I’m glad you came away from the photo for this week with a memory from the beach in the back of your mind – it’s peaceful there just as it is I’m sure in the place this photo depicts. We all long for peace and quiet these days and many of the poems I’ve read today from blog friends reflect that longing AND the magical feeling of the photo. Next week will be the same kind of thing I think! Thanks for participating with us every week

      Hugs, Pam

  4. What a fabulous poem. Mom didn’t even see the choices of going left or right. Angel Sammy always writes the best poems. Mom wrote one totally different. Here’s the link: https://www.thecatonmyhead.com/cats-fairies-thankfuls
Hope you don’t get too much more rain. We had another 2.5 inches through 5 p.m. yesterday and it rained tons after that. Supposed to start again around 3 p.m. We have flood warnings up since yesterday. Hope you get your outside in Teddy before it gets too rainy. • We loved your poem today and the kitty cat addition – wouldn’t that be a wonderful spot for a snooze?! Such a beautiful photo and next week’s is pretty cool too! You are REALLY getting hammered with rain – I just sent you an email to see if you were in the garden working or if it was raining and I guess you’ve answered that one. We have been out with Ted once today but I know he’ll want at least one more trip out there.

    • What a GREAT poem!!! Like we did – you guys saw a LOT in that photo….there’s a lot to see actually – in fact I’ve looked at it several times since we wrote the poem. Anyway, so far here in our town people are doing the RIGHT things……….masks, distancing – restaurants have some indoor seating now but Mom and Dad have NOT done that and won’t….outside is better but they haven’t even done that! Mom cooks Dad eats and I just try to keep them smiling. It’s what we cats do right? You all please stay safe too.

Love and Hugs, Ted O Nator!

  6. Great poem. People are not following things around here so much. A few are. So many come into my work without masks. Enjoy your day. A really hot one here.

    • That’s right BellaDharma…..her journey led her to YOU and I know you are as happy about that as she is. We all take the wrong path sometimes but if we’ve learned something from that journey then it wasn’t “all bad” !!

  9. Great advice, Angel S. Lots of Mom’s friends are saying let’s do this or that. Mom tells them that we are not ready to go out yet. We still need a few more weeks to make the numbers go lower for us.

  10. We are following the protocol for the virus but we have had to meet with a lot of worker dudes the last two weeks and it concerns us. But we can only do what we can do. Not much social distancing or mask wearing going on here anymore.
All I can say is that it has been an interesting path for SSNS and me. I little boredom wouldn’t bother me a bit!

  11. Teddy, we’re so glad you had a break from the heat. We’re supposed to have over 90°F temps all weekend. We hope you have nice weather and get to enjoy some walks! Angel Sammy, this image was so beautiful, and your poem for it was incredibly profound and inspiring. Next week’s prompt is also beautiful, and I’m already working on my ideas for it. Purrs!
