Welcome Poetry Friends!
Today’s poetry is honoring the letter “B” – if you feel so inclined (or brave) you can put your poem in comments – just make sure it’s about something starting with the letter “B”!
Bones
Yes indeed my bones – they show
I’m slim and trim and moving slow
Without the weight I’m limping less
When I was chubby I was quite a mess!
I’m moving easy, my limp is gone
My shoulders slim and I’m feeling strong
I’m looking good – oh yeah I’m classy!
There’s lots more time on my old chassis!
We might be old, our coats a bit tattered
But we’re young at heart and THAT’S what matters!
©sammykimmell2016
There you have it! Another poem squeezed out by yours truly about the joys of getting older…………but I may have a lot of mileage on the chassis but the engine is still running well.
Every Thursday now I’m exercising my “poetic license” and writing a poem using each letter of the alphabet which means of course that NEXT WEEK’s little gem will be about something starting with the letter “C”…………hmm………wonder what it will be. CATS? Maybe – maybe not. You’ll just have to wait and see!
Have a Poetic Day!
Hugs, Sammy
P.S. Today my dear, sweet friend Nellie from Nellie On The Edge is visiting Washington, DC to hit the campaign trail for Smoke and Joe AND I had a “meet-up” with her and even got to ride her beautiful new pink motorcycle! Lucky me………….If you click on the link above to her blog you’ll get to see what she got up to here in the town that never sleeps when it comes to campaigns of ALL types…………..REMEMBER, VOTE FOR SMOKE AND JOE FOR PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT! The SENSIBLE choice (tee hee) !!
Here are just two of the wonderful photos we took while Nellie was in town……………to see them all, please visit her blog…………Nellie is campaigning HARD for Smoke and Joe!!!!!

Oh Nellie….you are my forever and ever friend!!

Oh I love your new motorcycle Nellie! It’s so YOU!
Simon agrees with your poem about getting old!! It can be hard but its also fun!!!! Love you!!

Oh Cupcake……I’m sorry you’re on treat restrictions but I bet you are WAY more cuddly with some extra weight on…..of course your beautiful dresses wouldn’t fit…..that’s the downside!

Bravo!!! Apaws Apaws!!! and the mama totally agrees… without some weight a lot of things go better… hope Ben&Jerry read your poem too and they create an ice cream with zero calories :o)

It would be nice if there was a zero calorie ice cream but it would probably taste like CARDBOARD!

Oh wow! Thanks Miss Csilla…..I love the title……I shall try to live up to the title as I do my alphabet series of poems…….next week is “C” – – – – hmm…….”Csilla” starts with C……!

OMG, Sammy, the thing is called ‘Poeta doctus’, that is, scholar poet or learned poet. Thus, your title should be “Poeta Mogtus”. BTW, my name is pronounced as ‘chili’, only the ending is an ‘a’ and not an ‘i’.

Oh I’ve often wondered how your name is pronounced Miss Csilla! So it’s a CH sound…..it’s a pretty name!!!! One day you should send me a photo of you so I can keep it by my computer for Poeta Mogtus inspiration!

Isn’t Nellie just the absolute best of the BEST!? Smoke and Joe are going to do great since they have Nellie as their campaign manager. You look great on her new pink motorcycle. I got a ride on it a few weeks ago. It was a THRILL! That girl is strong!
Your poem was excellent. I wonder of you have considered offering your help to Nellie Bellie for campaign slogans?
LikeLike
Hi Katie! I knew you’d gone for a ride on Nellie’s pink-a-cycle too! What fun – and she’s a very safe driver isn’t she. We had fun in Washington, DC and hopefully gave a big boost to Smoke and Joe. I haven’t offered to do slogans for her – I think she’s up to her beautiful silver eyebrows with projects right now and don’t want to add to that……….busy busy girl!

That is a very good poem, Sammy. I am glad your limp has gone and you are feeling good. I agree with you about our coats not looking so good. My mum says it looks like I am wearing a fur coat that is 2 sizes too big for me. All the thick plushness doesn’t lie flat any more but stands up, especially over my haunches, and looks like I have had a fright. As you say, we are still here and that is much more important than appearances.

Oh Flynn when we were once so handsome (which of course we were!) it’s tough to look in the mirror and see “OLD GUY” isn’t it! My coat is kind of patchy and I have places on my ears where I’m bald…….doctor says it’s not unusual with thyroid issues but still, it just makes me look SCRUFFY! Oh well – we’re alive and we’re here and we’re taking care of our humans and that’s the important thing right my friend? They need us – BIG TIME!

Burn Off
This weekend involves a new burn off
The weather though is a real turn off
So the kids we have coming to stay
To help.but most likely get in the way
I will be making Baked Beans
And wearing my jeans
I need another holiday
Yep..this poem stinks like a skunk 🙂 Loves Fozziemum xxx

HAHAHA! No the poem is fabulous! Really – “Burn Off” is a perfect subject for you since it seems (I’m sure) endless when you have to do that every year. How is it coming anyway? Nice that the kids are coming to help out – maybe you can get it all done FASTER – don’t feed them until it’s DONE – that will get them motivated!!!

Hahaha Sammy that is a great idea! We are NOWHERE near done..we have done the equivalent of maybe a normal backyards worth of thick dead scrub…ugh..we have weeks of work..but we are working back from the path to where the ceremony will be..areas for golks to camp are getting cleared and them we are getting a guy in to grade the whole drive up and around the barm where big marquees are being set up
.so i will be lucky to get any blogs done on time…what a surprise hey lol 🙂 loved Fozziemum xxx

EXCELLENT! Forty can feel like 140 though when you’re not used to a lot of company – but knowing you it will all run like a well-oiled machine and be tons of fun not just for the bride and groom but for all the guests…..!!!!

That is a great poem Sammy- I am shocked that you didn’t do one about bacon though 🙂 Phoebe is sorry she didn’t do a B poem, but she has one now:
Brody is our newest cat
he is such a brat.
He sits on Mom’s lap
but when she’s not looking,
he gives us all crap.
And, you and Nellie look great on her motorcycle. XO

Hi Sammy what a great poem. I am not there yet but we keep telling brofur Buddy that he should cut back a bit. I think Dad just likes seeing him with a good appetite. He still gets the night crazies and is a hoot to watch.
B is for Brofur Rumpy, who is quite the lump
He lays about all day with nary a jump
For a Bobtail he has not even a Stump
Only a tiny small little Bump
We love him no matter the lack of jump or stump
He is our Rumpy, our Rumpy Bump
Woo Hoo we will run over and visit Nellie and see that cool new pink bike!
