Thankful and Poetic Thursday

It’s time for double post Thursday.   First up is our Thankful post for Brian’s Blog Hop.   If you’d like to share what you are thankful for this week just give a little click on the badge above and you’ll go to his blog where you can use the LINKY tool to join up!     I do have a lot of  thankfuls for this week but allow me to FIRST thank Brian for hosting this Hop.   It’s a good chance for all of us to spread our wings and FLY about what we are thankful for.    One of my thankfuls this week is that I’m thankful I remembered to join the new Hop that McGuffy’s Reader is doing called “SPARKS” – you post something that gets everyone feeling positive or happy or inspired and it can be a meme a special quote or verse or ANYTHING you feel will “light up someone’s day”.    You can check that one out at McGuffy’s Reader and the posts are on every Monday.    We did our first one this past Monday.

Secondly I am thankful that my white cell count is in NORMAL range…….not HIGH NORMAL like last check but NORMAL NORMAL – I’m glad because my Mom and Dad and my vet were a little concerned because both of my prior blood panels were OFF for white cell………Mom says I will never be NORMAL (hahahahaha thanks Mom) in many categories (like my weight) but at least my white count is NORMAL!

Now for part two of today’s blog and it’s where  my dear Angel brother transmits his weekly poetry challenge DOWN to me (which he did last night) so I can share it with you.    We are working our way through the alphabet and have made it to the letter “R”.    We are not far from the end of the Alphabet Challenge…….Here’s what I received from Angel Sammy courtesy of his Rainbow Bridge Wi-Fi connection!!

♥♥♥♥

Hello Friends!   Hugs from the Rainbow Bridge

As you all know we are up to the letter “R” and I gave you some possible words to use if you want to for YOUR “R” poem…………just some hints but you are supposed to write your own poem about ANYTHING that starts with the letter “R”!    I hope we have some new folks joining in the poetic fun this week – several people said they “might try” to write a poem…………..I say ANYONE can write a poem – just let your thoughts flow – poems don’t even always rhyme remember – they just EXPRESS!

Here are the words I gave you as “prompts” if you needed them:

(1) Rain (2) Run (3) Ruin (4) Rabbit

I’m using one of my own prompts this week………!!

“Rain”

By Sammy Kimmell, October 12, 2017

There are stories about rain that some children are told

Like at the end of rainbows there might be a pot of gold

Some think rain is really angels tears

They cry with worry watching us down here!

Rain brings renewal, lets buds open wide

Flowers will bloom, the gardeners great pride!

Some get depressed when the rain comes down

Nothing will cheer them, not even a clown.

But rainy days can sometimes be the very best

At reminding all of us just how much we are blessed

Rainy days bring us together because we don’t go outside

We can play a game, write some letters, read through a travel guide!

We can talk over tea in a quiet room at home

No need to go out in the rain – no need to roam.

Rainy day indoor picnics are REALLY the best!

No bugs to bother you – no sign of a pest!

So remember that RAIN is a sign from above –

To just SLOW ourselves down and feel all the love……………..

So that’s my thought of the day everybody.    Rain is not a BAD thing………..it may dampen your plans but it can’t dampen your spirit if you don’t let it.   I miss my Mom and Dad’s “indoor picnics” in front of the fireplace.    Mom would spread a blanket on the floor with the fire going in the winter and I’d make myself at home in one corner and Mom would put piles of pillows around and she and Dad would have a “picnic” for dinner right there.   Usually sandwiches and stuff like she’d bring along in the picnic hamper IF they were outside in a park.    Sigh………………..

Here are some words for next week’s letter of the alphabet, the letter “S”…………..you may use one of these or one of your own – whatever you want to do but please give writing a poem a try.   Short, long, rhyming or not – ANY poetic form will do……….just let your inner thoughts fly free (like I do when I practice my flying at the Bridge!).

(1) Sunny (2) Shrimp (3) Shoe (4) Snuggle

I hope to see you NEXT Thursday sharing your own poem – this week you can put your poem in our blog comments OR just give us the link to YOUR poem in our comments – either way we can see your work and enjoy the fun!     Until then…………remember:

I give you LOVE and HUGS, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy!    I liked that one…….and today is a rainy day too – I heard Mom tell Dad that they would have an indoor picnic so maybe I can see what Angel Sammy is talking about tonight at dinner!!!!

See you all tomorrow for Friendly Friday Fill-Ins with McGuffy’s Reader and 15andMeowing!

Big Teddy Bear Hugs to you!

Remember Me, Thankful, and Poetry Day

Standard

So Busy This Thursday!

Today we have Thankful Thursday with Brian, Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday, and the MOST special remembrance today which is “REMEMBER ME THURSDAY”…….. a day we set aside every single year to remember all the sweet pets who are waiting to be rescued and have a chance at having and enjoying for their rest of their lives a true FOREVER HOME.    Shelters are full of sweet animals who have been taken to shelters be they no-kill or kill and who wait and hope that someone will give them security – sometimes for the FIRST TIME in their lives and sometimes because they have sweet memories of “home” in the past and wish for it again.     There are a million videos honoring this day but one of the most poignant ones is below – please take a couple of minutes to watch it.    It touches your heart and soul…………..

Actually today’s Remember Me Thursday is a great way to move right into THANKFUL THURSDAY at Brian’s!    I so easily could be one of those waiting in a shelter for my FOREVER but happily, my Mom and Dad came to the shelter last February and took me home where I have enjoyed my truly FOREVER……just as Angel Sammy did.    I am thankful that I am not languishing in a cage at the shelter but so many are and they need YOU to save them.      If you click the badge below, you will be transported to Brian’s blog and you can hook up and join in the THANKFUL blog hop he hosts every week!    THANKS Brian for being our host!

The last bit of our 3-way post today is my big brother Angel Sammy’s THOROUGHLY POETIC THURSDAY post – which, as you know – he transmits to me via his wireless connection on his computer at the Rainbow Bridge every week.    I know he’s getting excited this week because he will be transporting down here for our Saturday post this week which is our BACON DAY and this Saturday we’re having a BACON HARVEST on our blog!   Somehow I doubt that’s what he wrote his poem about this week though.   This week’s letter of the alphabet is “P”……he gave us all four prompt words but of course we can write about ANYTHING starting with the letter “P” !

Here’s Angel Sammy’s transmission!

♥♥♥♥

Hello Buddies and Pals!!   It’s MY poetry challenge day!

Yes, every Thursday I make an appearance to share the poem I’ve written for my ALPHABET POETRY CHALLENGE.    We are fast working our way through the alphabet and already at the letter “P” so I am wondering what you came up with to celebrate the letter “P” this week.    The prompts I gave you to help you come up with something last week were:

(1) Princess (2) Poet (3) Promise (4) Party

You can write about any “P” thing in your poem though.    I actually DID choose one of the prompts that I gave to you – mainly because I wanted to write about today’s REMEMBER ME THURSDAY occasion which is something near and dear to my own heart as I was rescued from a shelter myself by my Mom and Dad who made a PROMISE to me when I went home with them!

“Promise”

By Sammy Kimmell, Sept. 28, 2017

I was just a wee kitten in a tiny wire cage

Found under a house all alone – nobody home

That day my life began on a fresh new page

I would be safe and happy with no need to roam.

Abandoned by my cat MOM?   We would never know

Brought to the shelter by someone – a passer by

I looked out the bars waiting for someone to show

The shelter was quiet and some animals would cry

A man and a lady came there one cold February day

Would they see me?   My cage was way way up high

I had a small ball with a bell – with it I would play

The lady heard it, looked up and I caught her eye!

I stuck my paw out – extra toes she could see

“It’s a polydactyl!” she said to the man by her side

He touched my paw and said “Hi” very tenderly

Out of the cage I was brought and handed to the man

I was smart, I was cute, and I licked his face

“This is the one” she said, I would smile if I can…..

They signed papers and soon we were out of that place!

………..AND WE ALL LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER…………

Funny how 17 years AFTER my Mom and Dad adopted me they found themselves back at that same shelter, in the same month, and found another little ginger boy to take home – my little brother Teddy.    I wish I could have stayed there to meet him………..but my time came to leave in December, 2016 just two months before he found his FOREVER with my Mom and Dad.

Remember Me Thursday is near and dear to my heart and to his as well as my Mom and Dad…………..my Mom cries BIG tears for all those animals in shelters who wait and wait and sometimes never get their homes.     Teddy and I were lucky…………….and we know it………………

Next week we will celebrate the letter “Q” which is a tricky letter isn’t it?!     Well, I’m giving you four prompt words to think about but you can write ANYTHING you want to with the letter “Q” so feel free to do that………..THEN, come here and post the link to your poem so we can all read it OR if you want to, post your poem in my comments OK?    I love poetry and please don’t say “I don’t know how to write a poem” because you CAN………..poetry is from the heart and doesn’t even have to rhyme!    OK?

(1) Quiet (2) Quarrel (3) Q-Tip (4) Quack

There you are – a little help if you need it.     I hope you will have a great week and I hope that you will remember TODAY is the last day you can send in a photo of YOU in your Bacon Harvest Outfit so we can put you in our Saturday BACON HARVEST PARTY post!     We had a ball last harvest and hope you’ll be with us for this one.    I’m flying down from my cloud for the day.   Can’t wait to see you there!    Email your photo to my Mom ASAP!!

I Love You All………..Angel Sammy

♥♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy!    As always, I love your poem because YOUR story is exactly MY story.    Same shelter, 17 years apart and two baby gingers found their FOREVER in the same home.   If you haven’t looked at the video link we posted above, please do.    This is a very special day to REMEMBER………….

Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

It’s Two For The Price Of One Day!

Thankful Thursday Blog Hop and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Hello Friends!   Today we do a “double dip” of posts with two of our favorite things:   Brian’s Thankful Blog Hop AND our own Angel Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday.    First though we want to be thankful.   If you’d like to be THANKFUL on Brian’s Blog Hop, just click the badge and be whisked away to his blog long enough for you to use the Linky Tool and join up to share your “Thankfuls” too!

There are a lot of things to be thankful for and one of them is that the people so devastated by Harvey in Texas and Louisiana have been promised they will get all the help they need to recover from the amazing amount of rain and flooding.   So many people and animals are without homes now and we hope that all the rhetoric about HELP is truly going to be there for those that need it.   It’s mind boggling how much rain and destruction from that rain is throughout that entire region.    We are thankful for other things as well but that is the BIGGIE……..and the other thankfuls almost pale in comparison to the generosity many have shown in sending help of all forms.

If you click the badge below, it goes DIRECTLY to the American Red Cross’s page to help specifically for those effected by Harvey:

The second part of our post today is to enjoy the weekly fun we have when Angel Sammy emails me his POEM for Thoroughly Poetic Thursdays and I publish it on our blog and invite all of YOU to share your poetry with US on your own blog!    Here’s what Angel Sammy sent to me last night.

♥♥♥

Hello my friends!!!!    It’s me – Angel Sammy and I have my weekly poetry challenge completed for you – and I hope you have played along this week and have your OWN poem to share with all of us in return.    If you do, you can either write it out in my comments for all the world to see OR give us the link to your poem in my comments and we’ll follow the trail to read your masterpiece.   The deal is you have to write a poem that’s about something starting with the “LETTER OF THE WEEK” as we move through the alphabet.    This week we are up to the letter “L” and I gave you some prompts to use if you needed help – – – but your poem can be about ANYTHING starting with an “L” !    Here were your prompts:

(1) Lamb (2) Love (3) Lap (4) Lunch

When I was still there, one of my FAVORITE things was to sit on my Mom’s lap so that’s what I wrote about this week……my Mom’s warm lap!

“Mom’s Lap”

By Sammy Kimmell, August 31, 2017

Whenever I felt the need for a nap

I knew the best spot – it was on Mom’s lap

She’d sit for hours if I was asleep

And when I say “asleep” it was VERY deep!

I’d hardly move and neither would she

Even if her legs fell asleep she’d not move me!

She’d wait until I woke up and popped down for a snack

So she could stand up straight and unkink her back!

I loved a warm lap for my whole life through

Though towards the end my joints hurt me too…….

Mom would lift me up in her arms and sit in her chair

I felt warm and safe whenever I was there

Sometimes now though I’m no longer there

I fly down to visit when she’s in that old chair

I lie softly and quietly so she doesn’t even know…….

Then her mouth forms a smile and her cheeks have a glow

She knows that I’m visiting from my home up above

To enjoy her soft lap where I feel her warm love……..

♥♥♥

Now it’s your turn!   If you’ve never written poetry – give it a try!    Any “L” thing you may think of you can write a poem about – remember any kind of poetry works – it doesn’t even have to rhyme.   Give it a whirl.  You’ll be glad you did…….then share it with us.    Meanwhile, I’ll get back to work here at the Bridge and I’ll be thinking up a poem to share with you NEXT Thursday.    Here are your prompt letters for “M” which is next Thursday’s letter.

(1) Marvelous (2) Mom (3) Mud (4) Meow

Those are just to get your creative juices flowing – use one or more of these if you like…………..have a great week – I’ll see you next Thursday if not before (in your dreams??).

Love, Angel Sammy the Poet

Thanks Angel Sammy………………..and now I think maybe I’ll get to work trying to write a poem myself for next Thursday – maybe we can BOTH have one to share with everyone by then!

I have a SECOND post for today coming – it’s going to be for SHOPPING AROUND THE WORLD and I’m helping Bacon and his Mom out by HOSTING it for them this month – this month we’re doing SNACKS and you need to share your recipe for your favorite snack, including prices of items used to make it!    Remember to link to BACON’s BLOG too!!!!

Love, Teddy

Mom, you do the shopping and I’ll do the napping!!!

We’re THANKFUL and Poetic on Thursdays!

We are thankful every day but especially so on Thursdays when we publically share (thanks to our host Brian) what we’re most thankful for that week.   If you click the badge above you can go to Brian’s blog and use his LINKY tool, hook up and tell us what YOU are thankful for this week too!

I am thankful this week for the fact I was alive for a total eclipse of the sun…….notice I didn’t say that I actually SAW the eclipse – because to tell you the truth, I slept through the whole thing.   My Mom and Dad saw it though – and it wasn’t “total” here in Virginia but it was still pretty darn magnificent so they say.    At least I was HERE for the eclipse and that’s still pretty special since a total eclipse of the sun doesn’t happen every week!

I’m also thankful that there’s good wifi service at the Rainbow Bridge because it means that my brother Angel Sammy and I are in contact AND he can transmit his Thursday poem to me in time for a tradition he started on the blog way before he went to the Bridge – his “THOROUGHLY POETIC THURSDAY” posts.    Thanks to him sending me his poetry every Wednesday night, I can share it with you on Thursdays just like he was still here (which I wish he was!).

Remember you can join in on poetry day too – it’s not a standard “hop” because we don’t have LINKY but you can still write a poem, post it on your blog, and give us your blog link on my comments OR even put your poem right there in my comments – and we can read your MASTERPIECE!    Poetry is fun……..poetry lets those things inside OUT – and that goes for any kind of feeling or thought that you have or wish you had.  The beauty of poetry is it is EVERYTHING………….so write a poem today……..I bet you enjoy it and I know we would enjoy reading it too!

Here’s what Angel Sammy transmitted to me last night:

Hello my friends and GREETINGS from the Rainbow Bridge!

Today is my poetry challenge and last week if you’ll remember, I gave you some prompt words starting with this week’s letter of the alphabet which is the letter “K”.    Remember that the prompt words aren’t meant to restrict you to THOSE WORDS – you can use as your subject ANYTHING at all starting with the letter “K”.     I just give you prompts in case you can’t think of anything starting with “K”!!!    The prompts for this week were:

(1) Kiss (2) Key (3) King (4) Kindle

Teddy said he thought it would be cool if I could use ALL the prompt words in a poem this week…………..well, I wasn’t so sure about that but I thought I’d give it a whirl so here we go!

“A Symphony of K”

By Sammy Kimmell, August 23, 2017

There are so many things that I now miss

Like my every single day “Morning Mom Kiss”

She always greeted me like I was the King

Her smile each day made my old heart sing

From the day they brought be home, my love they did kindle

With each passing year,  love for home didn’t dwindle

I learned about life, love, and so much more

At the end I was prepared and unafraid of the next door……

Through it I went knowing at last I was free

At the Rainbow Bridge with my bright golden key.

♥♥

Whew!  I did it – not my best poem by any stretch but I challenged myself to use all the words and by golly I did!    I hope you have written something for today and will share it with all of us too.   Poetry makes you feel GOOD………it lets out feelings that you might find hard to express otherwise.   That’s a GOOD thing…………….now here are your prompt words (if you need them!) for next Thursday.    But remember, you don’t HAVE to use one of these, you can use any “L” word you want to!    Ready?

(1) Lamb (2) Love (3) Lap (4) Lunch

Until next Thursday, I will bid you farewell and head back to my work at the Rainbow Bridge……………….just know this – I miss you all.    But if you listen REAL hard when you’re lying in bed just before you drift off to sleep, you might hear me say “Sleep Well My Friend”……………………

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy for another poem……………..I’ll look forward to seeing what you send us NEXT Thursday.    I’ll see you in my dreams – I know that for sure………………..

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Double Post Thursday is Here!

FIRST we are THANKFUL with Brian………

I am thankful this week because Mom and Dad took me to the Vet on Tuesday to get me checked out!   Why on earth would I be THANKFUL for having to go to the stabby place?   Well, because it was only my third time in the car EVER – once coming home from the shelter when I was adopted, once for an initial vet check, and this past Tuesday for a BIG checkup.   Why did I need a BIG checkup?   Mom thought it was a big problem that I won’t eat wet food – I’m OK with dry but my favorite “dry” is TREATS!   Not a good thing – treats should be treats and not a main meal.   She also wasn’t sure if it was good that the only water I drink is out of the faucet.   That’s right – I go to the nearest bathroom and squeak (I don’t meow – I squeak) for someone to put me on the counter and turn on the water so I can get a BIG FAT drink.   Mom wants to get me a fountain – Dad says it’s gonna be just recycled water and I won’t use the fountain……..DUH…………. She also thought that MAYBE I was getting a little – well – how do I say this diplomatically – well CHUBBY is the word!     When I went to the vet initially after I was adopted, I was 11 months old and weighed 8 lbs.   Now I’m 15 months old and I weigh (gulp) 14 lbs!     Probably the treats I love says my doc.   So,  now I’m eating Fancy Feast regular REAL non-treat dry food which I find “ACCEPTABLE” !    So what about ALL OF THAT makes me thankful?     Because I’m thankful I have a Mom and Dad who love me so much they want me to get GOOD habits and to be HEALTHY always – that’s why!

Wanna tell the world why you’re thankful or read what everyone ELSE is thankful for?   Then click the badge above for Brian’s blog, go there and enter your blog address with the LINKY TOOL and join in the BLOG HOP he hosts every Thursday!

Now I’ll turn it over to Angel Sammy for HIS Poetry Challenge Post!

Hello friends from the Rainbow Bridge!    Today we are working on the letter “C” in our third go-round on the alphabet……………remember, the poems have to be about something starting with the letter “C” – OR you can use one of my prompt words that I provided LAST Thursday on the Poetic Thursday post!     Those words were:

(1)  CAR  (2) CAMERA  (3) COOKIE  (4) CARPET

What did I write and transmit to my baby brother for today’s post????   Stay tuned.

My poem is using the prompt last week with the word “CAR” !

“C”

“Car”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, 6/29/17

It was 17 years ago

When from the shelter I would go

Home with two people I would learn to love

People who were sent by angels above

I was such a lucky guy with a lucky star

UNTIL I GOT IN THAT AWFUL CAR!

For 16 years I’d have to travel

My patience and happiness would always unravel

I hated to be in that terrible thing

Because I knew what the trip would bring!

The vet was always my destination

THAT’s what would cause my consternation!

When I GOT there I was perfectly fine

It was the trip in the CAR that blew my mind!

I miss my parents more than I can say

But I don’t miss that CAR in any way!

So that’s it from the Rainbow Bridge this week……………hope you wrote a poem for the challenge – and if you did, you can post it in our comments HERE, or post your blog URL in my comments so we can come visit you and read your poetry!    Remember, it doesn’t matter if your poem rhymes – what’s important is that you give it a try…………everyone can write a poem………..honest!

With Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥

Thanks big brother…………………I am happy you have good wi-fi at the Rainbow Bridge so you can get your poem to me every week!    I hope we have lots of friends who decide to write a poem for “C” this week.   Now I’ll let everyone know what you chose for prompts for NEXT week’s letter “D” poem!    Remember everyone you can write a poem about ANYTHING starting with “D” or use one of Angel Sammy’s prompts:

(1) Danger  (2) Dandelion  (3) Dark  (4) Dinner

Great words Sammy!  Can’t wait to see what poems are written next week !

Til next Thursday!

Love and Hugs, Angel Sam and Teddy too
