Whine-less Friday

Standard

Happy Friday!

So I have to own up to the fact that for DAYS I was whining about the driveway project and how much I dreaded the noise and strangers around and blah blah blah.  Well, instead of all that horror I predicted (and whined about!) it was a dream……two guys came – had a quiet machine – spread out the black goo on the driveway nice and neat and off they went and it didn’t even take 45 minutes!  I barely knew they were here!  I’d been SURE it would send me to the basement or at the very least my afghan tent and instead, I apparently (Mom says) I slept through most of it.

Sam Sleeping Close Up

….zzzzz….

You’d think after all these years I’d have learned not to decide how something was going to turn out BEFORE it “turned out” wouldn’t you?

Anyway, it’s done – and while today is housecleaning day – which I also usually whine about – I hereby declare that I, Samuel Kimmell, will NOT whine during the performance of houscleaning duties by my parents today – up to and including the closet monster noise – I will calmly wait for everything to settle down and just act like it’s just another day!

Snoozing on the stairs

See? Nice and calm….that’s me!

It’s still dark out but Mom plans to go out as soon as she can see outside and check for animal prints on our driveway though – several of you said it might be interesting if there were some prints from “unauthorized animal traffic” on the not-quite-hard driveway surface from overnight.  Tee Hee…..secretly I’m hoping there are…….why?  Well, just because I think it would be pretty cool if there were some raccoon paw tracks or deer tracks or fox tracks across it for “interest”…..who wants a plain old black driveway when you can have SPECIAL ACCENTS on it?  In fact, if I’d been allowed outside yesterday I would have waited until my Mom wasn’t watching me toooooooooooo closely and creeped slowly down the sidewalk to the edge of the driveway and stuck my extra-toed paws in!  I probably would have gotten in trouble for it BUT just think – I would have really left my mark around here when we move!!!

Happy Whine-less Friday! 😉

p.s. I think you’re right about the ICKY taste of that black stuff…best left ON the driveway and not on the paws!

    • HA! Instead of the Hollywood Walk of Fame it could be the Sammy Driveway of Fame huh? Good plan but sadly the darned driveway’s dry now. Guess I’ll have to seek my fame in some other way?!?!?!

  1. No whining, even about the closet monster!! WOW! Sammy, I’m proud of you. And I agree with the others…that black stuff would definitely not taste good and might give you a sick tummy! Happy Friday!

    • Hi Miss June……yes I realized this morning as I took my usual paw bath that my pretty white “gloves” on my paws could have been icky tasting if I’d tiptoed over the wet driveway yesterday. I’m glad I behaved myself….for a change! 🙂

      Kitty Hugs and Happy FRIDAY!

    • Hi Easy! Yep – I put on my HAZMAT suit this morning and cleaned out the old litterbox. My contribution to “cleaning day” around here. I think your idea of a five star hotel for the day is excellent – – – maybe next week I’ll do that!!!

  2. You sure are one handsome cat, Sammy! And so brave too!
Motor Mommy’s fluttering around here like a hen with one chick. I keep hearing her say “family reunion”. Do you know what that means??
    Have a good Friday!

    • Hi Sundae! I DO know what that means (family reunion). It means you’re gonna have a buncha strangers crawling all around your house and yard and you’ll be getting either a LOT of attention, or a LOT of nap time in your favorite hiding spot!!

  3. Yes, I’ll be very interested in knowing how your driveway looks today and if any critters walked on it before it dried. When we had our concrete driveway poured, our neighbor’s dog got loose and walked all over our driveway. Seven years later, we still have his paw prints in the concrete. They’ll be there forever! 🙂

  4. Don’t feel bad Sammy…my Mom is the QUEEN of thinking she knows who things will turn out ahead of time. We could ALL learn from you!

We are hoping that some critters left their “pawtograph” on your driveway….that is like your own little “Hollywood Walk Of Fame”

    • HA! Well, sadly there were NO pawtographs to be seen this morning….We think that because it was a nice sunny day all day after the guys did the driveway, it dried up well enough that by last night when the wildlife visited….NO TRACKS! Oh well….at least Dad’s happy.

    • Hi Misaki….oh I SOOOOOOOOO agree with you on the “boring factor” of a non-decorated driveway but – alas – it seems there is no decoration on it and now it’s probably too dry for that to happen. Sniff. Now if a 2-ton truck drives up the driveway I bet it leaves PAW TRACKS…..and my Dad would be a VERY unhappy Daddy!!!

  5. I am glad you made it through that horrific experience! But then you ARE an International Man Cat of Mystery and we are not afraid of anything! (except mabe Queen Penelope).
And I hope there are prints! Prints would be soo cool!

    • Hi Koz…..sadly no paw prints….but you’re right – we FBI dudes can handle anything and just knowing that my fellow agents were counting on me to be MANLY, kept me strong throughout the driveway experience (well, between that and the fact I slept through most of it).

    • Yeah I kinda felt bad about being Mr. Whiney Pants about the whole driveway thing but it was no big deal and now we’ve got a BEAUTIFUL driveway……Dad’s happy…..Mom’s happy that Dad’s happy…..and I’m happy that THEY’RE happy!

  6. Hiya Sammy!

I just found you via Cody at Cat Chat — And I want to offer a protest here. Spoiled is not something cats or rabbits are! Spoiled is something found in the produce drawer in the ‘fridge!

    • Hi there! You’re right of course….spoiled is that stinky bit of unknown substance hiding in the fridge that our humans totally forgot about….for months…! I suppose I could call myself “totally indulged” instead of spoiled – think that might work??? So you’re a rabbit huh? AND a friend of my buddy Cody? Cool!!! You’re the first rabbit I’ve ever known – I’ve seen them in my front yard but never actually talked to one before….YAY! 😀

    • It’s a dirty rotten shame but apPAWrently not one single animal crossed that driveway after it was re-sealed. NOT A ONE! Isn’t that something? We normally have a steady stream of creatures day in and day out. Harumph.
