SPARK on Monday

Standard

It’s Monday!   You know what that means – time to start the week off with a SPARK.  SPARKS is a Monday tradition – how did it start and what IS IT?  “SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when her blog was hacked some time ago.  It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it.   Although Annie isn’t currently blogging, a lot of us who enjoyed her SPARKS decided to keep posting SPARKS of our own.   Why?   Because sometimes we need a little “spark” in our lives and these posts were meant to at least be a PART of that effort.   Please feel free to post your own SPARK on your blog and let everyone know you have…….we get energy from each other that way!

Looking for a good SPARK yesterday and thinking about things to be thankful for – I found this SPARK which took me back many years ago when a very good (and wise) friend actually SAID this to me.    I was feeling sorry for myself – was not in a good place in my life at the time – but this put me BACK ON TRACK.    Just THINK about it………it might be what you need to hear too.

I continue to be thankful for what I have………….and I intend to always be that way!

Hugs, Pam

  1. OH, such a good spark, and yes, so many, many have so little and yes, our lives must look like fairy tales to many. I’m glad you are out of that uncomfortable place and into the good one now.

  2. That is so true! I don’t recall ever hearing it in those exact words. Hubby always says: “no matter how bad you have it, there are folks who would quickly trade places with you”.
Glad your friend was able to encourage you all those years ago!

  3. I agree with that. I am very grateful each and every day I wake to. There is always AWAYS worse. Deal with what you have and know that–just as you showed in the spark—there are those who would be grateful for having a life such as yours.

  5. Excellent Spark today. I had not ever heard that particular quote, but it is so true and something I remind myself of quite often. I have had an amazing life…one I never dreamed of growing up. I feel so blessed and fortunate. Thank you, Pam! XOCK, angel Lily Olivia, angel Mauricio, Misty May, angel Giulietta, angel Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth, Calista Jo, Cooper Murphy, Sawyer & Kizmet

    • My life certainly has been a roller coaster but looking back – even the dips in the coaster taught me a lot……..the highs were high too but somewhere in the middle I found myself. Wouldn’t change a thing!

  6. Best quote! Most of us need to be reminded of this…each and every day! Wen our boys were little, the youngest was quite the naughty handful. which was a stress and made me feel inadequate, etc…

So one day my sister and I had them with us on an outing…and of course *he* was at his very best…argh! Then we saw a whole group of disabled children visiting the same place…and my sister and I looked at eachother and said…oh boy, we’ll take our naughty son/nephew any day …at least he is whole and healthy. I had to tell that to myself over the years…

But yes, even when I was sick,I would go and visit others at the clinic, cause I was sort of bored, and so I would walk the hallways with my IV pole, and go and chat with some of the others in the same cancer boat as I was…and yes, many of them were far worse off than I was. (I heard from the nurse there that one lady in particular was so touched by my visits that she had a smile and felt better already…don’t have a clue how I did that but I believe it was God working through me…)

Often I feel awful about our old beast of a house, but it IS our home, and its a roof over our heads…we don’t have to live out on the streets…

    • All of us can find something to be happy about if we choose to. Even when times were tough I reminded myself that I had a roof over my head, could find food even if not in my own refrigerator, and could CHOOSE to smile instead of feel sorry for myself. I’ll admit I did struggle but I always found my footing because I wanted to. Sometimes we really have no idea what some little thing we do for someone else means as much as it does to them but that’s what giving is all about. THEM, not US. Anyway, we are fortunate dear Ingrid and it’s OK to be happy about that! I love this SPARK!!!

  7. That is so true. Sometimes we drive to the beach and comment on how nice it would be to live in one of the homes there. Then we realize that there are probably many people who would say the same thing about our house.

  8. That is a wonderful Spark. We know we have a great life despite all the complaining we may do. There is always someone out there who has a lot more woes than we do.
