Yeah….it’s “OH NOOOOOOOOOOO” time……………monster out of the closet and the whole nine yards………the only thing saving today is that that landscape architect guy will be here at 9AM and I can spy out the window to see Mom dragging him around the back yard while he figures out what on earth we can do with it considering our budget of $1.37. Should be a challenge huh?
A shout-out to Carol and her wacky family at Creek View Carol blog for nominating me for the Versatile Blogger Award………….I already have that one (actually I have about ten of them…teehee) but I STILL love that people find my humble blog worthy of special mention! If you don’t know this blog – PLEEEASE visit – it’s a huge hoot – Mom and I love reading it. There truly is NEVER and I mean NEVER a dull moment in Carol’s house.
What are you doing for Memorial Day weekend? Mine is packed to the gills (although I don’t have any of those to pack) with events…………….
- Saturday: My Mom and Dad are deserting me to have a cookout with the neighbors…..you know what that means……they will be gone FOREVER AND EVER and forget to bring me a kitty bag
- Sunday: Botany Test at Cat Scouts, Tabby Cat Club Indianapolis 500 Race fun
- Monday: Cat Scouts Memorial Day Picnic and my blog Memorial Day post (linking with my buds Raz and Gracie)
I know – I know what you’re thinking – this is NOT a “busy schedule”…………well for me it is………..so I’ll rest up while I can. Starting tomorrow I’ll be one busy dude………I need to be ON MY GAME so rest is essential!
Happy Friday!!

He’s been and gone and it wasn’t pretty. HAHAHA Dad’s in shock, Mom’s knocking back a glass of wine at 1:30PM (slightly earlier than usual) and I’m staying out of their way. The landscape guy was great – told it like it is – the back yard will NEVER be green and beautiful – too much shade. If Dad would whack down some trees (which he won’t) things could be better – nothing will grow back there – SO, it’s either quit worrying about it, plant some ground cover and let it go crazy, or WHACK down trees (which ain’t gonna happen). We DO have some dead trees on the sides of the yard which Mom has been after Dad to get taken down and the guy agreed. So we’ll just have to see what happens in the tree department. Meanwhile, he’s drawing up some plans for a smallish flagstone patio which will sort of “connect” to the bottom of the stairs up to the deck. Nice little picnic area. We’ll see how that turns out.

Wine at 1:30… Dying! Landscape guys can do that to you. Our lawn guy, the good lookin’ Travis, does landscaping too and we already heard the story about taking down trees to let the sun shine on in BUT he already knew how we love our Oaks. He has seen us cry when he has had to take them down.. 😀 CH has some kind of ivy that makes me want to take the clippers and chop it all up but it does do a great job of covering all the shady spots. Our heuchera is doing good too, it seems to be very happy. Good luck on the flagstone patio. You might have to up your budget a bit, to maybe a buck forty seven! We picked out the slate tiles for The Porch and the lady came out and measured, told us about installation, moving furniture, and called us with the bid. Our eyeballs popped out but we are going ahead because it will be cool and if we decide to sell the house it will look prettier… right? Don’t tell anyBODY but we, the family of CH, have been known to drink wine at 10:30 in the morning on holidays if food is being festively served at noon!
Hugs to you all there at Kimmell’s Shade Park, you know it really is very pretty there so to heck with cutting down trees. Do we need to send a bottle of Kimmellswein? LOL!

My weekend will have some outside fun but plenty of rest. Take care, have fun and can’t wait to see more on your backyard plans. XOXO – Bacon

Well Bacon, the backyard plans may be scaled down a little……or maybe more than a little……….or maybe all-together. HAHAHA Seriously though, landscaping stuff is ridiculously expensive so not sure what my parents will actually be able to afford based on what the landscape architect thought of our situation. I may have to get a full-time job to help pay for stuff!

Oh boy cousin. I feel you. Things are so expensive today for anything. I had to give up a bucket of Animal Crackers just so mom and dad could get the cedar floor installed in the bathroom. Life is hard. I’m with you on getting a job for some money. Let me know what you come up with my friend. XOXO – Bacon

Have fun at the picnic and good luck on the test.

We have a very windy but WARMER day here and the weather dudes say tomorrow will be nice too!!!! Even Sunday – when we get some clouds – will be nice. SO we’re liking that! As for the landscape guy – if we were bazillionaires, we’d be starting on things NOW…..looks like Dad will need to rob several banks in order for us to do almost anything in the backyard. HAHAHA Mom had a feeling things would be like that – BUT they do believe they will let the landscape guy’s company handle building us a patio for the picnic table. We’re waiting for some drawings AND estimates.

I hope that quilt you are sleeping on has been hand-pieced and quilted. You deserve nothing less! If it isn’t, then tell your bipeds to either make one this week-end or get their bones to an Antique Store and buy one. Me and my BIG have a special soft mattress topper to sleep on. We also sneak up on the bed and barely leave her 6″ to sleep on–good thing she is skinny. Wickett

My Auntie Carol (Mom’s sis) is a quilter….most of her quilts are machine sewn and hand-hemmed and quilted but we have a bunch of them – all of them beautiful!!! We do have one hand-pieced quilt – it’s old…..was a wedding gift for my Mom’s parents back in 1946. IT’s kind of ragged as my Mom’s Mom didn’t really take care of it BUT it’s in our guest room on the back of a chair. I’m glad you have some good napping spots too!!!!! Happy Friday.

I’m tired just reading your ‘to do’ list Sammykins. You might just fall asleep looking out at the yard. Did you ever roll off the sofa during a nap. I’ve fallen out of bed before but not for a long time…..our bed is so high up now, I use a footstool to get up here. If I ever fall out, it’s a long ways down :p Let me know what you get for $1.37, Ha xoxoxox Love and Hugs B

Hi Miss Boomdee!!! My Mom and Dad have a “high bed” too – I don’t even get up on it anymore thanks to my arthritis!!!! I’ve only once fallen off the sofa while asleep – my head was hanging off the side and Mom was about to get up to push me higher on the couch when WHAMMO – down I came! Yes that landscaping budget will be a challenge…..Mom can probably get a packet of seeds for that!
