I’m joining up with my Cousin Bacon for the Shopping Around The World fun today…………………..It’s a fun way to see what stuff costs in other parts of the globe compared to what WE pay here in Warrenton, Virginia!
Here’s what the shopping list was this time around………….and what we paid for each item:
1. SOUP (our favorite is Campbell’s Bean with Bacon)
2. LIVE CHRISTMAS TREE (we have a fake one but this is what they were going for around here!)
3. COLDS MEDICINE (my Mom and Dad NEVER get sick BUT if they did, this is what they’d take!)
4. HOT DRINK (gotta be hot chocolate………anything chocolate and my Mom is ALL over it!!)
5. RANDOM ITEM (my favorite random item these days is strawberry yogurt which I take my medicine with!)
Wanna see what other friends pay for these same shopping items? Check out Bacon’s blog and see!!!!! Thanks for hosting such a FUN event!
HAPPY SHOPPING
AND HAPPY NEW YEAR’S EVE!
SAMMY
This is fascinating Sammy. Your prices over in the USA are so different to ours in the UK. Maybe we could do a comparison some day! Hope you are well 🙂

Hi Miss Jade! Hope your writing is going well and that you’re ready for a pawsome and HUGE 2015! We love this shopping around the world thing too – and we truly get to see what everyone is paying in all kinds of places in the world……New Zealand, everywhere in Europe, “Down Under” – EVERYWHERE! It’s tons of fun.
Happy New Year

Awesome cousin. Thank you so very much for participating this month. It is the coolest thing to see what other peeps are paying around the world. AND you also get some great and wonderful ideas of things to look for in the market. Like for instance – cough oink – dad wants to try your soup. Rolls piggy eyes – he is so after me oink sometimes – snorts and rolls around laughing. XOXO – Bacon

HAHAHA……I thought you’d love the fact that my Mom and Dad LOVE bean with BACON soup. It’s very tasty – and I thought it might catch your eye when I chose it to use for the shopping blog (tee heeeeeeee!).

Snorts! It did get daddy’s attention which also got my attention when he started looking at me with that glazed look he gets in his eyes sometimes – double snorts. XOXO – Bacon

Well just make sure your Mom gets him some of that soup – it will take away the glazed look and you’ll be SAFE……..know what I mean????

Amen cousin! I know exactly what you mean. I’ve already put it on mom’s grocery shopping list. Thank goodness I have access to that on our mutual list 🙂 Daddy already looks at my butt and feels me up wondering how many biscuits I would make. Snorts – it’s all in good fun I know. Perhaps I should grab his butt and do the same thing? Snorts and rolls with laughter. XOXO – Bacon

It’s always interesting to see what others are paying for these items! We don’t know what the prices on those things are here though. Mom never remembers the price she pays for anything. Except she does remember that our live Christmas tree this year was $29.99! It was about 6+ feet tall.

Mom doesn’t remember either – we just went to our grocery store’s web page and looked stuff up…..hahaha…..your Christmas tree prices were close to ours though!!

Soup -$1 for cheap store brand and about $2 for the good ones like Chunky
Christmas Trees – I think they start around $50 and go up to $100 or more. We went with a fake one.
Cold Medicine- No idea but; I think they are close to yours and Bacon’s prices.
Hot Drink – Only drink coffee so anywhere from $1 to $2.50 a cup.
Random Item of your choice -Brown and serve store brand rolls $1.29 Sara Lee brand around $2.99

Hi there!!! Isn’t this blog idea great? I think it is – it’s fun to see how we all compare with each other on prices and interesting how DIFFERENT some things are and how THE SAME others are!!! We have a fake tree too – Mom and Dad bought it three years ago and it’s pre-lit and less work for them so I’m all for it……….as long as there’s room under it for me and the train I’m good!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Holy cannoli! Soup here is $1.99 in ShopRite and $2.09 in Pathmark. The peeps stopped eating it as much because of the sodium content. They did load up on Progresso Low Fat Lentil soup when it was on sale for $1.29. Our tree cost over $36 for under 7 ft. Pop used to buy Nestle’s hot chocolate when it was on sale for $.99 and they only buy Yoplait when it’s 2/$1 although TW likes Greek yogurt. She loves the Yoplait Whips. They’re very frugal.

Hi CK! Did someone say cannoli (my Mom loves it). Isn’t it wild how different prices are across the globe? I think it is…..you’re right about soup and salt – Campbells has some low sodium/”healthy” soups now which helps but my Mom mostly makes soups around here – she can’t, however, duplicate Dad’s favorite “Bean With Bacon” !!! You sure did pay a bundle for your tree…I think it depends on how available they are in different places maybe. The yogurt has been a real lifesaver for me since I love it and Mom mixes my thyroid meds in it and I just lap it up like mad – otherwise that stuff is stinky and icky and I won’t touch it without the yogurt!
HAPPY NEW YEAR!
