Helping Hand Friday

Standard

Hello Everybody!

If you’re like me, you’ve been concerned about Leo, the kitty Savannah’s   folks are helping to underwrite the medical bills for while he’s being cared for at the Civic Feline Clinic.  Leo has Hepatic Lipidosis Syndrome and is currently being fed with a feeding tube – he won’t be able to leave the clinic until he’s eating on his own.  That means MORE medical costs.   There are a lot of efforts being conducted to help out and one way is to make a donation to Contra Costa Humane Society and earmark your donation for Leo’s medical care.

If you aren’t familiar with Leo’s story – just visit Savannah’s blog and take a look at prior posts about Leo’s tough time trying to get well.

But ANOTHER way to support the effort to help Leo is a WAY WAY WAY WAY cool auction that Mollie is having on Monday!   There will be all kinds of things that you can bid on that have been donated by Mollie’s friends and YOU (or your human of course) can be sure of finding SOMETHING that you will love if you visit the BIG BLOGVILLE AUCTION on Monday at Mollie’s.

Make sure and put that on your “gotta do this next week” calendar for Monday – and I’ll see you there because I just KNOW my Mom’s gonna want to shop – she’s really very good at it – I suspect you have a human or two in your household who has “SHOPITIS” too right?  Maybe there will be a thing or two that YOU want for your toybox ?  You never know!

Now – what ELSE can you do to help??????   Well, I, Sammy Kimmell, have volunteered to help Mollie by getting the word out about the BIG AUCTION and asking you to take a peek in your closets, your attics, your basements, WHEREVER and see if you have anything you’d like to DONATE for the auction.  All those who participate by contributing items for the auction will be asked to post/mail the items to the highest bidder at the auction.   So obviously if you donate a set of weight lifting equipment that weighs several hundred pounds (YIKES!) it will cost you a small fortune to mail it to the winner.  Take that into consideration when you think of something to donate OK?????????

So you have something (one or more) that you want to toss into the auction????  Huh?????   Well, I’m helping Mollie collect photos of those items – complete with a short description of what they are and a “suggested starting bid” – and then I’ll send them on to Mollie for inclusion on her AUCTION PAGE on her Monday blog.

If you want to be involved – you can just email my Mom with a photo, description and suggested bid but PLEASE send them to me NO LATER THAN SATURDAY NIGHT so Mollie will have time to put them into the auction.

GOT IT?????????????  Good!  Leo, Mollie, Savannah and ME (and lots of other people who are helping out) thank you in advance for helping……….you guys are wonderful.   Any questions?  Put them in comments and me (or Mom) will answer them for you!   Just remember – whatever you put into the auction will be your responsibility to get to the winner – Mollie can’t do it all – she needs your help.

Leo would thank you if he could !!

Happy GENEROUS Friday to all of you!

    • Hi Sundae……it’s the least we could do to help – Mollie’s doing the “lions share” (meow) of the work but we wanted to at least lend a hand. Hope you’re having a nice sunny window seat kind of day – it’s BEAUTIFUL here!

      • Our vet calls Mom every day, isn’t she great! Leo pulled out feeding tube so she left it out overnight to see if he would eat, no such luck so she put it back in. We still could wait another three weeks, so,eti,ez they don’t eat on their own for 6 weeks or more, then all of sudden, turn around. Our vet will keep us grounded in reality. Paw hugs for your kindness, Savvy

        • Poor Leo…..that tube thing might be irritating him a bit but golly I wish he’d EAT on his own. Certainly he has an entire world pulling for him now. Your vet is sweet to keep in touch with your Mom even though she’s at Blog Paws…I’m excited about the auction on Monday!

    • Hi Easy…..Do you think your Dad would be willing to be put on the auction block??? What would you think an appropriate bid for him would be??? Mom took a peek in her jewelry box and is donating three WAY cool cat pins she has to the auction AND some doggy notecards she drew years ago for a shelter to use to make some money. I think that all shoppers in our households (otherwise known as Moms) will be busy on Monday shopping at the auction – what do you think????????????????

      • I think for dad the starting bid would be a cent… or have we half cents too? I grabbed some things from mom’s wardrobe for the auction , so I have more room to build a cool brigand’s lair there. Hope I can move in before mom “adopt” new stuff :o)

        • Good luck with moving into your newly found lair in the closet – you know as well as I do that your Mom will be visiting the trashure store or shoe store and fill up that spot before you know it! So you think a good starting bid for your Dad is only a half cent??? My goodness….I’d like to think someone would bid at least FIVE cents for him. He looks like he’s barely used and got some time left in his battery!

          • 5 cents sounds good – that’s a lot for a “slightly” used dad I think. I’ll bet he is proud to hear that he is worth such a fortune :o)… and if … just if someone would bid 6 cents, I will give the 80-cents thingy from outer space as bonus :o)

          • Gosh – I’m sure Mollie would be THRILLED to start the bidding on a slightly used Dad at a nickel – I’m thinking you need to dust off the 80 cent THING and get it ready to ship because I think someone – somewhere – will bid more than SIX cents for him! I saw your question on Mollie’s blog by the way about how you’d ship your Dad to the winner….I think your idea to do it in pieces is smart. You’ll need to compose an instruction list on how to “construct” him when he gets to his destination…..!

    • I know what you mean – it’s all a bit complicated isn’t it. Apparently everybody can help Leo in a variety of ways – the auction and raffle Mollie is holding (Raffle is available NOW – Auction on Monday), or donate directly to the Contra Costa Humane Society and tell them it’s for Leo’s care. Mom’s donated a few goodies to the auction too!!! YAY!
