It’s Monday – SPARK DAY!!! You know what Monday means…………SPARKS. Time for an inspirational thought – a little something to get us through another week. Everyone is invited to participate by posting their OWN thoughts on their blogs – SPARKS inspire all of us! “SPARKS” was started by Annie McGuffy of McGuffy’s Reader but ended when her blog was hacked some time ago. It was meant to be a way to start out each week with with a meaningful thought – something that spoke to each of us and hopefully everyone else who read it. Sometimes we need a little “spark” in our lives and these posts were meant to at least be a PART of that effort. Please feel free to post a SPARK of your own on your blog and let everyone know you have…….we get energy from each other that way!
I found a great quote……………..it’s not the best graphic in the universe because it’s not CLEAR and it’s all gray………a bit depressing but the MESSAGE is what counts right?
Guilty as charged……………for a long time I did have a picture in my head that was how things were supposed to be………..and it even changed a little through twenty or so years but then I finally let it go. I’ve been a whole lot happier since then. I will admit that that “first picture” in my head was one that my childhood produced and one that was encouraged by my parents. I loved fairytales and believed that a white knight would ride up and capture me and carry me off into the sunset and a beautiful life. But fairytales ARE fairytales. My “life picture” changed over time and when I finally realized that I shouldn’t even HAVE a picture in my head but just do the right thing in any given moment and “expect the unexpected” in life, I truly felt better AND lived better. So there. True confession.
Hugs, Pam
I used to have those ‘pictures’ in my head too….I had to sweep them all out of there!

And once they’re gone, there’s more room for the REAL THINGS in life…….!! 🙂 🙂

That is true,we all had those pictures in our head of how life would be. It doesn’t happen that way for most of us and we work with what we have and are happier for it.

You’re absolutely right – we found our own way in our own time…..even a bumpy ride can lead to a happy life!

kights on horses are overrated… the modern princes drive an suv, what is better when life turns into a bumpy road and when the street is no longer the yellow brick road….. and you got even a prince with a plane, so no mountain is too high and no river to deep for you two….

You are right – and I’m SOOOOOO grateful that I found my own way – not the “fairy tale” way!!!

Flat dab right on the money! That is the conclusion we all should arrive at, but many don’t and continue returning to look down that same hole– like the ostrich, hoping to see the vision they formed long ago. It was never there.

It is so true! And those pictures in our head are responsible for a lot of problems until we see them for what they are.

Everyone does this, i think, and you are right about how much better things are when you let go of that picture.

At first, I admit thinking blah blah blah …. but after thinking about it and different situation, my head was nodding. Well done, Pam – and have a good week!

Hey those white knights need US more than we need them, haha. Wonderful quote. We have no quotes but just try to live day to day, hour to hour, and at al times be kind to others and yourself. That’s about it. Love from Loulou

I don’t think I ever had a picture in my head about how it was supposed to be… my Mom and Dad were more than a little concerned about me… Hahahaha. I think I was always too befuddled about the now and then. I should have had a map in my head for where I was going! Even the nuns were worried about me!
Good Morning, Virginieeeeeeeee!

I really REALLY believed in the “white knight” syndrome and hung on to that for way to long. But it is why I was so devastated when my first marriage ended. After that is when I realized that fairy tales were NOT a guide to how things were supposed to be. I feel like I really began to figure things out after that though and have been so much happier since. Things happen for a reason….I have no more illusions – I have been navigating my life with “flexible reality” and am now the ME I was meant to be all along. I think you found your way too my friend – and just look at you now – we are both lucky ladies! GOOD MORNING FLORIDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!

That is a great spark. I am guilty too, but I realized many years ago that you need to live the life that makes you happy- and living with a lot of kids makes me happy. 🙂 Have a wonderful day my friend. XO

LOL! That Spark is very true. Mom once heard that some people can’t be happy because they are “should-ing” all over themselves about the way things should be.

Very true. Mom never pictured her life to be the way it is now. She had to get rid of the old picture when our Daddy went to Heaven.

Loss sure does change those pictures doesn’t it – but circumstances dictate changes in our vision of our life and being able to handle that is a HUGE HUGE demonstration of inner strength. Your Mom IS that strength.

No, I KNOW that the cafeteria food is unsafe except for the bird seed.

Pam that is so true! We have these ideas and then can fill our lives with feelings of disappointment if we are not careful to count our joys

Very good SPARK, Pam. I don’t think we can help form a picture of what life is like. This picture guides us through some pretty tough times. However, when that picture rules how we act it is no longer a guiding factor but a MUST. This is where problems step in and then its time to reevaluate the picture.

Yes – having expectations is normal I think but when we try to FORCE ourselves to try and meet expectations we get in trouble because life is not always predictible. I had unreasonable expectations when I was younger but learned that the journey is full of surprises. I’m happy with how things have turned out and am ready for whatever is to come!
