Bacon (with yogurt!)

Standard

Sounds disgusting doesn’t it???  Bacon with yogurt?   Well, since that’s my life these days, I’ll take my little bacon treat with anything including yogurt with the medicine in it.   The bacon makes up for the medicine just fine thank you!

BACONKITTY

I’d like to say that I helped out with the house cleaning that took place around here yesterday but I’d be lying if I did……………I was a lazy bum and I wasn’t feeling very well so I just mostly stayed in the basement on my favorite old chair and slept.   Mom came down to check on me and Dad took a nap with me – him on the old couch and me on the old chair.

Maybe there's such a thing as TOO much help?????

Maybe there’s such a thing as TOO much help?????

Last year Mom bought me a heating pad to lie on but I turned up my nose and didn’t even once lie on it……..this year I’m thinking of reconsidering that decision!   Mom’s going to plug it in and put it in either my cat bed (which I don’t use now but who knows) OR on the couch.   Mom thinks it will feel good on my achy-breaky bones and joints and she might be right so I’m willing to give it a try.  I’ll let you know how THAT works out.

Meanwhile, we have the outside heated cat house open for business………..both of our feral friends who hang out here because the eating is good have been seen entering it but nobody has been seen sleeping in it – yet – bet when it gets a little colder they will!   It’s plugged in and the fleece pad has a very gentle warmth to it which just has to feel great on these cold nights we are now having.

Last year we had one feral visitor and this year we have TWO!

Last year we had one feral visitor and this year we have TWO!

I heard mention of the leaf sucking operation starting up again this coming week……Monday or Tuesday were the days under consideration…….maybe it will rain and change the plan……I wouldn’t mind but Mom and Dad are trying to keep up with the leaves as they fly out of the trees.   All these oaks and maples are dumping their leaves but our Bradford pears are still GREEN with no sign of turning yet.  Sigh.   There will be NOISE AHEAD I just know it!!!

Yikes....that's a lot of raking needing to be done!

Yikes….the back yard is COVERED!

Well, I hope you have a grand Caturday planned – maybe with a little bacon on the side (or maybe yogurt?!?!?!?!).

HUGS,

Sam The Gourmet

  4. I agree , heated beds are super comfy. I always build a cave in my bed and enjoy the warmth. It’s great that your feral friend has a buddy now, it’s good to be not alone, specially when you live outside. We have the leve-battle now too, me and mom build a giant pile on thursday… and the next night we had a storm and the leaves are everywhere now :o( Enjoy a super warm caturday with a big piece of bacon :o)

    • Hi Easy! Was happy to hear your Dad is doing well. I’m sure he won’t miss all those tubes and bags he’s dragging around with him……but they are “necessary” as we know! When Mom had her second operation for melanoma she had to wear one of those bag thingies strapped to her leg for the drainage from the operation for a whole MONTH! She hated emptying it and was SOOOO happy to get rid of it when she finally healed up. Humans are rather delicate compared to us TOUGH GUYS aren’t they???? Sorry about your leaf pile – that often happens here….Mom and Dad work on clearing things up and two minutes after they put everything away it gets windy and you’d never know they’d cleared it all up!!!! NOT FAIR!!!! You did GREAT on Rocco’s story today……I can’t wait to do my part too.

  7. I would use that heating pad Sam, they really do feel most wonderful! So good of you to help those kitties when it is cold. CH has already done a few sweeps with the leaf sucker but like your Mom and Dad he is going to get down to business Monday AND Tuesday and hopefully put the super leaf sucker to bed for the year. The southwest wind has been doing a great job blowing the leaves right over our east woods and into the neighbors woods.. 😀 Our Bradford pears are still green too. Enjoy your Saturday bacon Sammy!

    • Hi Miss Pix!!! If you recommend that heating pad then that’s good enough for me! 😉 We thought for sure we’d see someone in the heated house after last night’s chilling temps (it was 24 this morning when I got up!) but nobody was there……the pad in the house was warm though “just in case”. Mom and Dad decided over pancakes with bacon this morning (tee hee) that they will do the leaf machine tomorrow. Today I get to enjoy peace and quiet. We think we’ll be leaf sucking for at least another 3 weeks……….still have a lot to go. Dad says he’s not gonna worry about the bradfords – whenever they DO drop their leaves he will just use the backpack blower to blow them into the woods!!!!!!

HAVE A SUPER GRAND SATURDAY yourselves………complete with wine time tonight! (WINK)

Mom has moved our beds around so there are more in the changing sunpuddles and brought the igloos back out in hope we might use them now that it is getting cooler. 13. Hi Sammy, We wanted to tell you about something Mom has been using with Giulietta, who is currently on antibiotics. It is Earth’s Balance Bacon Flavor Pill Paste for Pets. She got some for free last spring at BlogPaws. It works easier than Pill Pockets and really smells just like bacon. She hasn’t tasted it. It wraps around the pill quite easily, and Giulietta doesn’t seem to mind having it stuck right in her mouth. Mom did a quick search and it showed up on Overstock for $14.99. It is probably available other places as well. It is supposed to be enough for 30 pills. W love that bacon ct meme. We have seen it often, but it remains cute, cute, cute. Stay warm, dear friend, and save your energy for the Jamboree. Hope you will join us tomorrow for our Sunday Selfies blog hop. • Oh thanks for the info on that bacon flavored pill paste! What a totally cool idea…..Mom made a note about it so maybe we’ll give it a whirl! Thanks SO MUCH for telling me about it. We also found out that there’s a compounding pharmacy here in our town so if my doc says I can do the transdermal gel maybe that’s an option too. I’m saving all my energy for the Jamboree – Raz and I have worked on the tent decorating, cheerleading, color guard and everything else so we THINK we’re ready. 15. I’m sorry you haven’t been feeling so good Sammy and hope you feel better today. I get an “off day” about once a week when I don’t want to eat anything and lie around all day. Next day I am usually ok again. Mum doesn’t like it, it makes her worry, but she is getting used to it now.
That is a lot of leaves to be picked up! Mum saves a lot of hers and uses them as garden mulch a year later.

    • Hi Flynn! Know what? I think my Mom is realizing (like your Mom) that we just plain have ups and downs – like a lot of older folks have in fact…..and she and my Dad TRY not to worry about me so much I know. Maybe after I get my blood work done this week they can relax a little assuming my medication is working. My Mom and Dad use all the leaves that get mulched in the leaf machine for our gardens too! We have a HUGE big pile of crunched up grass and leaves from all the years they’ve been using the leaf machine and it’s like “gold” Mom says for our gardens. Humans are pretty darn smart aren’t they???!!!

  18. Sammy, we haven’t seenmuch bacon around here lately, but we know our human brother and family are coming for Thanksgiving. Mom ALWAYS has bacon then, so maybe we will get lucky. The moms are always so smart – good idea for yours to try adding the bacon bit to your yogurt/pill combo.

This is the second year in a row that our Bradford pears have stayed green for so long. Makes it hard for Mom to string the Christmas lights:(

      • That sounds cozy alright. Unfortunately, it’s far too cold here for fleecy blankets. Infact Animal welfare advocates recomment you don’t add blankets to an outdoor kennel in the winter here. If an animal comes to the kennel wet, the moisture will melt onto the blanket and freeze. We used to fill our dog house with straw. He loved it. The door was made of carpet and it closed after he went in. Lucky “outies” in your neighbourhood xoxo Hugs Boomdee
