YAY – it’s Saturday! First day of the weekend and time to pawty…..well, not for ME to pawty but my parents are going to one at noon today – a FUN one too. You may remember seeing this photo of our two little guys next door – Linus and Felix. Linus is having his birthday pawty today and my parents are invited.
Linus (on the left) is turning EIGHT!
They’re having a way cool party too – they’re going to dig for buried treasure! Yep – there’s going to be panning for gold with all the equipment and a sifting table so they can try and find all the gems and gold – everybody’s going mining in their back yard. Well – sort of – I think Linus’s parents have a lot to do with the treasure part of things but just imagine all those little kids going on a “treasure” hunt to find gold and get rich!
Everybody is supposed to wear clothes they don’t mind getting dirty in – well my parents are wearing jeans so that counts right? I’m trying to get Mom to remember to take her camera – I can imagine there will be some pretty good photo opportunities don’t you?
I dig for gold in my yard sometimes – well – honestly, I’m usually just trying to find a great outdoor potty spot when I begin digging a hole somewhere in the yard or in the woods BUT Mom says I look like I’m “digging for gold”…….
This is my fave digging spot – Mom’s garden.
Down the trail to the woods is another great “outdoor toilet” !
Anyway, back to the pawty – I’ll be sure and share photos if Mom takes any today – trust me – there’s bound to be some embarrassing or silly chances for photos – get a group of adults and kids together at a “Gold Mine Party” and there’s bound to be some giggles going on!

Those little guys are adorable, are they grandsons Pam? Love Linus’s T-shirt, looks like a vintage rock-n-roll T. Cool ! We used to have a summer festival here called Klondike days and there was Gold panning and a Klondike Kate contest. It was all about dressing up and celebrating what drew people up north. There’s still a summer fairground but they don’t call it Klondike Days, it’s just K days. It was always fun to dress up for work, bank tellers and grocery store staff always did. People have no sense of haha and no one dresses up anymore. Hope you get the biggest ‘Nugget’ (and not the kind Sammy leaves you in the garden..LOL)

Hi Boomdee!! It was a really fun idea for a party and the kids just enjoyed the heck out of panning for gold and gems. They are our next door neighbor kids (Linus and Felix) and not “ours” but we think of them as such. David and I have no kids hence no grandkids but we love children and the boys next door are just adorable and so much fun. When I wrote my first kids book I used them as my “sounding board” and wrote one of the stories just for them. Gave them my original artwork for the story as a gift so I hope they always remember “that lady next door” !!

Hi Woos! Linus’s Mom told my Mom that she got the idea from the internet….party ideas for kids or something like that….anyway, the kids just loved it. They’d get so excited when they found something in the dirt and sand. Linus’s Dad made these “sifting trays” for them so they could find the “gems” and boy did they get excited when they found something!!!
