Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Hi everyone – a little late this morning with our post – our power was out beginning yesterday afternoon about 4:30PM EST – very serious storms passed through our area with 80 mph winds and very heavy rain…….we weren’t able to go outside to see what’s what but hopefully can do that today.   Main thing is we had a long night – power came on about 15 minutes ago.

We are thankful to be here this morning!

Since our post is late, we’ll just thank Brian for hosting this special Hop and get to Angel Sammy’s poem – ready?

It’s Poetry Time!!

Well by now you all know that we gather together on Thursdays to share poems we’ve written to reflect our thoughts on the photos I find to challenge you (and me) every week.  So let’s see what we’ve all done for the photo I gave you last Thursday shall we?   Here’s the photo AND my poem follows.

Accidents Happen!

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell  ©June 23, 2022

Listen mister I saw you speeding

While in my car a map I was reading

I guess neither of us was paying attention

When the police get here it will be detention!

Here comes Mom and she’s not amused

Quick, let’s laugh and look confused!

I don’t think we’ve fooled her – she has a frown

Do me a favor and help me push your car back down!!!

This photo is sweet – the guys are smiling and they had fun pretending to have an accident BUT I do hope both of them have insurance!!!!     If you wrote a poem for today’s photo, let us know in comments so we can read your take on the photo.   AND of course I have a NEW photo for you to work on for NEXT Thursday.

UP UP AND AWAY!     Those of you who remember me might remember that on my last day before I headed to the Rainbow Bridge, I spent the day visiting all my friends all over the world in a hot air balloon.    Unforgettable.   I really do miss all of you still!

I wore a special outfit for the adventure!

Hope to see you all here next Thursday for more poetic fun………….until then – be kind, be safe, and be HAPPY!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy………….we all miss you……….

Hugs, Teddy

    • Power – we probably were very lucky that the power wasn’t out for a longer time than it was. But glad we’ll have a good night of sleep tonight with everything back to normal!! That trip Sammy took to visit all his friends was a day I will never EVER forget.

      Hugs, Pam

  1. Oh my goodness…I love that poem. Sammy, you did great, but he always does. We have those long power utages more than the shorter ones it seems. Probably just me thinking that. But it’s awful when you want your coffee and can’t have it. And hear every noise outside. I have one of those white noise machines and I am dependent on it to sleep since I was a rotating shift worker.. When the power goes eyes pop open and I rarely go back to sleep until I hear it again.

    • David has one of those white noise machines and he had a tough time without last night – the only noise we heard most of the night was heavy rain. LOL We just have minor damage but there’s some significant damage in this whole area and we even saw some stuff about it on the news this morning.

  2. That was a fun poem. I do remember your hot air balloon tour Angel Sammy. Ever since, I think of you whenever I see one. XO

  3. Good morning. Wonderful poem. The next one is pretty. 87 today. Already humid but; not like the beginning of the week. Have a good day.

  4. Hooray for getting that power back, it’s way to warm to do without air conditioning Teddy. That was the purrfect poem for that photo. Thanks for joining our Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

    • Thanks for putting the link to your “Rainbow Bridge Balloon” post – it was REALLY fun and brightened an otherwise dismal day for us here. The balloon photo for next week’s poem looks to be a sizeable one too – I admit to having always wanted to do a balloon ride – I’d rather do one now than save it for my very own “Rainbow Bridge” departure day!!!

  5. Oh, that sure was a rather scary affair with those bad storms. Glad you are relatively unscathed though it must be awful for some others who got it worse,
The power outs are so annoying…we’ve had an automatic generator for several years, which really helps, esp in the winter.

This picture was so cute, I composed about an accident, but judging by the expressions on those little boys, it looks there ‘Fred’ had every intention to drive over ‘Drew’!

    Cars And Drivers

    Little Car red,
    Driven by Fred.
    And little Car blue,
    Driven by Drew
    Had a little meeting…
    That went rather wrong.
    Their cars were beat up
    Needing something strong…
    To pull them apart,
    Their trips to restart.

And it brought back the not so fond memories of the night in March, when I gave a big kiss to a little red car! Oy Vey!

    • We definitely had a HUGE case of the heebie-jeebies last night – we had visions of the power being out for DAYS so it was a big celebration this morning when it popped back on !!!!!!

  6. Oh when the power goes out it is just too traumatic. I hope you had candles (and wine, haha). Love the view of the balloons, so beautiful, lovely photo. I’m home from the vet and being monitored well for glucose curve and don’t feel bad at all. I even roll around on my rug and play with mama….Cross fingers.

    • Our fingers and toes are all crossed for you dearest Loulou! I’m glad you feel OK…….and YES it was traumatic for us without power and all that lightning and super heavy thunder that shook the house! Mom and Dad had candles and wine but I just hid in the basement where I felt safe!!!

      Hugs, Teddy xxoo

  7. No fun to be without power and I am glad you have it back on. That is scary about the storms. I hope all is well today. The weather this spring and summer has been a roller coaster ride. I remember your visit Angel Sammy♥ You have another poem with good words and fun today. The boys are having a great time.

    • Other than the tornado we had a few years ago this was the scariest storm we’ve ever had. We were lucky not to lose any trees………others in the community weren’t so lucky!!!

  10. Very nice poem. The photo made Mom think of the boy grands when they were little and would bump their cars into each other having fun. Now they are licensed drivers and we hope that kind of un has ended:)
