Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

It’s Double Up Thursday!

First part of our post today is Thankful Thursday with Brian – he hosts this wonderful Blog Hop every week where we all hop on board and tell the world what we are thankful for – YOU can join us – just click his badge above……….I do have a few Thankfuls this week to talk about – first is that my Dad is recovering from his surgery a week ago JUST FINE and is going for his follow-up with his doc today!    I’m also thankful that we have NOT received a lot of snow but then again, that was a mixed blessing – because instead of SNOW, we got ICE – and ice is worse than snow really.    Two days this week we had sleet fall and pile up on roads, tree limbs, sidewalks – it was not a good thing!    Looked pretty but ice is bad for those who HAVE to be out in it!

Ice-covered trees !

Also as usual, I am thankful that Angel Sammy’s email arrived with his poem for this week…….as busy as I know he is at the Rainbow Bridge he never lets me down and gets his Poetic Thursday poem to me ON TIME!     Here it is:

Hello to my friends!   Happy Thursday!

I’ve been watching the weather you all have had – not just my brother Teddy but EVERYONE – I’d say this has been a most interesting winter wouldn’t you?    Up here at the Bridge the weather is perfect ALL THE TIME but down where you are – well – NOT SO MUCH!    Anyway, if you’re out in bad weather stay safe – if you don’t HAVE to go out – don’t.   Take the advice of an Angel!

This week I gave you this photo to use as your inspiration for a poem.    The idea is to look at the photo then write a poem – long or short – any poetic form – based on how the photo makes you feel, what you see, or what you think about when you see it.   Easy?   Well yes – even if you aren’t normally a poet – just give it a try – trust me – it’s fun!

“Rough Seas”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, February 7, 2018

Do you ever feel like a ship on rough seas?

Days when you fail but have tried so hard to please?

Wishing for the calm of things going just right?

Hanging on to the ropes and sails with all of your might?

Then it can change in an instant to calm and secure

Your compass is right and your judgment is sure

Remember that life has its’ share of surprise

You know not what awaits you when you open your eyes.

Through rough seas or calm waters your life’s ship will roam

When the wind in your sails wanes you can be sure that you’re HOME.

Now it’s YOUR turn.   If you like, you can leave your blog link in our comments here so we can go read YOUR poem inspired by the photo OR you can write your poem IN our comments – however you want to do it, I hope you will take a chance – write a poem – let your imagination fly!

Here is your photo for NEXT week’s Poetic Thursday………………I hope you have some fun with this one too…………..

This will be a most interesting poetic challenge wouldn’t you say?    I’ll look forward to seeing all of you poets next week…………..!    Until then – be THANKFUL for what you have…………

Hugs, Angel Sammy

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Thanks Angel Sammy.   I always look forward to Thursdays – I feel you with me ALWAYS but I like to see your poems and get your emails on Thursdays.   See you next week!!

Love, Teddy

P.S.   Extra Fun………..remember that great photo last week of the stairs in an old almshouse?   We created a jigsaw from it – if you’re interested in putting it together just CLICK HERE !

Good Luck….this will be a TOUGHIE!

  2. I AM FIRST! Oh, wait…does that count with poetry day? Probably not, but…I AM FIRST! Okay, Sammy, let’s to the poetry. Well, this is not my first poem. But, I was up all night with this poem and post. I used your photo prompt, of course. I have mentioned you in my post, which should create the WordPress pingback. Thank you for all that you do. I am so blessed to have you as friends. Hugs!

Loved your poem and can’t wait for next weeks. We are so enjoying reading everyone’s poems. So much fun! One day when mom gets her crap together, we will join in! XOXO – Bacon

  4. We are happy that your Dad is recovering nicely from his surgery, too, Teddy! I’m sure that’s in part because of all the wonderful care you and your mom have given him…..

  6. Lovely poem… comforting, too. Glad that your Dad is recovering so well… good luck to him today on his follow-up. You got some ice! We have that on the way for Friday and Saturday, I hate ice! Yay, thanks for the new puzzle. I meant to get back to you and say yep I want some more… hoping they improve my brain skills and wake up the brain cells. Embarrassing on the last puzzle how long it took me… never going to tell nobody! Hope this puzzle has a frame… ida never got it done without working around the frame… 🙂

    • Glad you liked Angel Sammy’s poem……the message is loud and clear yes? My old Dad is doing great so we expect no surprises at the doc today…………we will get some RAIN this weekend but no ice expected – that is truly just AWFUL!! The new puzzle is smaller and it has a nice straight edge so at least the border is easy (!) – the rest of it actually took Mom less time than she thought to do – less pieces this time! GOOD LUCK!!!!!

Love and Happy Thursday, Teddy the Bean

  7. I am thankful your Dad is doing well too. We were lucky to get snow, we got rain on top of it which made it mushy, but better than all that ice. Great poem from Angel Sammy, it is so nice of him to send you a poem every week. I like the photo for next week. And I will do the puzzle later today when I have more time. I love online puzzles, but I am so slow. XO

  10. Teddy and Sammy, we totally agree about ice being so much worse than snow. It can be treacherous. Glad to hear that Dad is doing well.

We have seen some GREAT poems today and yours is no exception. Great message and great interpretation for the photo.

  11. We don’t like ice around here, either, Teddy, but your icy photo sure is stunning! We thought that was going to be the photo prompt for next week’s poetry challenge. That’s okay, though, because we also absolutely love the one Angel Sammy selected! And your poem for this week is beautiful, Angel Sammy, and it’s something we all can certainly relate to. Thank you for hosting this fun challenge every week! We really do enjoy it!

  14. You wrote a lovely poem, Angel Sammy.
The ice on the tree looks pretty. We don’t often get snow, but we do get a lot of ie which is no fun.
Thanks for the jigsaw. I am not even going to admit how long it took me though!

    • The jigsaw was fewer pieces this time when we did it – my Mom was amazed it only took her 15 minutes because usually after she gets the “outside” done, the inside takes FOREVER!

      • I think my biggest problem was trying to do it on my notepad. The pieces looked so tiny! I will try again later on the PC.

        • Oh wow – I bet it’s almost impossible to do a puzzle on an iPhone or notepad! You’d need a magnifying glass which of course doesn’t work well when you’re having to pick up pieces!!!! LOL

  15. We had an ice storm like that over Christmas! It looks pretty but it is not a whole lot of fun. Some people in the more rural areas had no electricity for almost a week! And we are happy that your Dad is recovering wonderfully!
We LOVED your poem today Sammy! Mom says it reminded her of a day at work (they write software for ship navigation). Mommy is going to print it with the picture and put it up on the wall over her desk.
We can’t wait to see what people write next week!

Ice is pretty on the trees but not so pretty on the roads! Actually I don’t care for it out in my yard either as it’s cold on my toesies!
