Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday!    Today is TWO FOR ONE day here on my blog.    We always join Brian’s THANKFUL THURSDAY Hop – you can too if you click the badge above!    Then we also have Angel Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday as Part TWO of today’s post.

First comes being thankful though.    Today I’m focusing on thanking YOU – that’s right – YOU.   All of you who are faithful followers of my blog – who write to tell me that you love Teaser Tuesday and all the craziness of Ding Dong School……the ones who say writing poetry on Thursdays was something they never, ever thought of doing before but now they look forward to it.    Why am I thankful?   Because I enjoy having my blog and if you didn’t like what I do, I wouldn’t do it!   So I’m thankful for YOU.    I’m also always thankful that Brian has this HOP every week so we can all share.

Angel Sammy’s weekly email with his poem and photo for next week came in RIGHT ON TIME so below, you’ll find the message I received which really is for ALL of us not just ME!

♥♥♥

Greetings Poetic Friends!!

Time for us to gather together and have some fun with poetry.    You all know every week I give you a NEW photo to ponder and agonize (!) over as inspiration for a poem that you will write and share on Thursdays when I share MY poem written with that photo in mind.    Photos can be very inspiring and it’s so much fun to just let your imagination go crazy and write what you see or feel when you look at a photo.     If you wrote a poem be sure and tell us you did in our comments here so we can VISIT YOU!!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week, followed by my poem based on the photo:

“Climate Change?”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     November 7, 2018

So many things change for us over time

More rain has been falling and temperatures climb

Hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes and fires

It seems we’ve awakened Mother Nature’s ire !

Floods bring loss of life, homes, jobs, and land

Beaches erode with storms stealing the sand

The seasons used to be defined, predictable and true

But lately it’s changed – I feel it – don’t you?

Is it too late to reverse it or is this just “one of those years”

When things are unpredictable and we needn’t have fear.

The signs are all there and we shouldn’t ignore

Mother Earth is pleading with us on every continent and shore.

STOP and think where we’re going…..before it’s too late

We can’t ruin this earth………and just leave it to fate.

Well I can almost hear you saying “Angel Sammy this is another rather dire poem!!” – when I usually like to write something upbeat and fun but honestly, I have to say that those of us at the Rainbow Bridge have been looking on and wishing we could do more to “hold Earth together” in just about every way including weather!    But of course we can’t.   Humankind has to help.   So that’s what I thought when I saw this particular photo…………………WHAT DO YOU SEE?   WHAT DO YOU FEEL?

Here’s the inspirational photo for NEXT week’s Thursday Poetry Challenge – I kind of think this will be a bit more FUN and less SERIOUS than this week don’t you???

There you have it – inspiration for poetry for NEXT week!   Until then I hope you will have a super week………………….Thanksgiving is coming soon……….then – CHRISTMAS!   Wow…..time flies.     I became an Angel in December 2016.    Could it have been that long ago?     Seems like yesterday…………Mom says that too…………..   ♥

See you next week my friends………..

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love forever, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy and thanks to all of you who took time to write a poem and join in the Poetic Fun every Thursday!    See you next week right here to SHARE some poetry!

Where did all these leaves come from????

Hugs, Teddy

Hi Everybody!   Thursday rolls around again and we join Brian’s Blog Hop which is ALL ABOUT THANKFULS!     Those of us who want to share our thankfuls go to his blog (click above) and fill out the LINKY form and enter our URL and we’re IN!    We are thankful for a number of things this week including:   The Cat Blogosphere is BACK with new hosts including Brian’s Dad, we had two sunny days out of the last seven so I was finally able to get some sun puddle action, our lawn tractor died but my Dad has a part on order so there’s hope for the old machine (20 years old!) yet, we’ve had our house power washed and our gutters cleaned out of all that disgusting oak pollen…………AND…………..AND……….well, I guess that’s about it since I’ve run out of thankfuls.    However I will say this – if we REALLY TRULY think about it, every single day we are thankful to HAVE that day.   None of us knows how long we will be here so be THANKFUL for every day.   Right?

I received Angel Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic poem last night via email from the Bridge.   He never lets us down.   Here’s what he sent for all of us to see:

Happy Thursday – it’s poetry challenge day!

Another Thursday and another chance to show us your poetic skills in matching your words with a photo that I’ve given to spark your imagination.    We had some great poetry from you all last week with the photo of the two kittens.  This week’s photo has a lot of possibilities.    If you’ve crafted a poem to share, make sure and tell you you did in the blog comments so we can visit your post and read your poem – OR just write your poem in our comments – either way, share your words with us.   Some of you have said you’d like to try writing a poem SO GO AHEAD AND DO IT!   I encourage you to – you’ll find that it’s not so tough and knowing that poetry doesn’t necessarily mean rhyming helps….also there are long poems, short poems, and so many poetic forms that it’s totally amazing.   Anyway, here’s the poem I wrote for the photo I gave you last week.

“Day Is Done”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    June 7, 2018

Days on vacation filled with fun

Good times don’t end with the fading sun

Night magic happens as the lights flicker on

Crickets call, frogs serenade, with nature we are one

Reflecting back on the day we have spent

Our vacation so perfect in this cabin we did rent

We cooked out, rowed the boat, caught fish, took a hike

All in the quiet of no trucks, no cars, and no motorbikes….

Just peace and quiet and breathing in the fresh air

Letting go of all worries as we sat on porch chairs.

When we return to “real life” we will treasure these days

We’ll recall the special moments before they fade in life’s haze

In the album will go the photos from this trip to the lake

Knowing next year when we return here, more memories we’ll make………

My Mom and Dad have often said they’d like to spend one vacation they take in a cabin on a lake.   They love Maine and have always stayed right on the ocean but Mom thinks the lake district would be a fun change with a quiet cabin, fire in the fireplace, and a rowboat to explore the shore.   I think Teddy would enjoy that – I was a little too “scaredy” for adventure but Teddy is different and I think he’d like it.    ANYWAY, there are also beautiful lakes and cabins in Virginia so they don’t have to TRAVEL far to find that little cabin on a lake.

Are you ready to see the photo I’ve picked for your poetic inspiration this week and your subsequent poem for next Thursday????

I think this will be another FUN one…………….let your imagination take you to a place where poetry just HAPPENS and share your poem with us next week!   I hope you join in the fun.   Until then, remember, I’ll be watching over you along with all your other friends at the Rainbow Bridge!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

YAY!   I like your poem this week my brother but I can’t hardly wait for next week’s.    It looks like a magical spot where teeny tiny people might live…………hmm……..maybe I’ll head out to the woods with Mom now and take a peek!

Love, Teddy

No mushrooms or tiny people under here!!

I’m THANKFUL it’s Thursday!   Time to join Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop – you can do the same – click the badge above and you’re IN!    We share what we’re thankful for each week.   I’m always thankful for everything I have in my home – humans who love me, all the food I can eat (and more), lots of nap spots, toys, – well, just EVERYTHING anyone could possibly ask for.   That’s a lot to be thankful for but I truly am.    I love living here and feel so much love from my Mom and Dad.

I am also thankful that my big brother Angel Sammy sends us some poetic fun every week………he may be at the Rainbow Bridge, but he never lets any of us down when we need him – and on Thursday it’s HIS day to share a poem he’s written to go with the photo he give us as inspiration every week.   I got his email last night – just before he settled in for the night on his Cloud at the Bridge……….here’s what he sent.

♥♥♥

Hello my friends!    It’s Thursday again………..days whiz by don’t they – they do that at the Bridge too but we’re all so super busy sometimes we don’t notice.   I have friends up here who remind me that it’s time to do my poem every week or I’d probably forget!     As you all know, the whole idea about Poetic Thursday is that I give you a photo every week and you come up with a poem that the photo has inspired in you……what did the photo make you feel or think about or what do you “see” in your mind’s eye when you study the photo.   Whatever you want to do with the photo it’s YOURS to be creative with.    It’s not so hard to write a poem – they can be short or long, they can rhyme or not – it’s just a way to EXPRESS yourself and it’s fun.   Give it a whirl.

Here’s the photo I gave you LAST week………..and it’s followed by MY poem to share with you!   If you have written a poem let us know in my comments here and we’ll come read it OR you can even write your poem HERE in our comments!    Ready?

Before I do my poem let me just say that this photo is so very cool.   It’s one of the new “tiny houses” that lots of people are moving into and giving up their BIG houses for when they really just don’t need that much room.   This one is on wheels too so you can take it with you ANYWHERE – like a camper only a house!   If you get tired of your view, you can take it somewhere else.   VERY VERY cool.    Anyway, here’s my poem:

“Living Small”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     May 17, 2018

I’ve heard the term “living large”

But I won’t be the one to lead the charge

I think we don’t really need all that space

“Large” doesn’t fit my preferred life’s pace.

A little house on wheels, what a deal!

Who needs 10 rooms, that’s got NO appeal

Just enough space to make a meal and sleep

No big mortgage to get in debt too deep!

Room for me, Mom, Dad and Teddy

If I was back on Earth, I’d always be ready

We’d travel around and see so much!

Or we’d live in a field full of flowers to touch!

Or by a stream with water and fish

It truly would be my fondest wish………..

Some humans think they need so much room

But you don’t need space for your imagination to bloom!

Small, cozy places with those you love best

Is the REAL definition of a true LOVE NEST !

Oh I think it would be fun to live in that little house…………Mom says it would also make a great little garden shed, or art/craft studio………or even a little “pool house” but really and truly, a TINY house could truly be a home.   Scale down life and make things more simple.    Yep – works for me!

So would you like to see the photo I picked out for you for next week’s poetry challenge?

I bet you have some pretty cool thoughts about THIS ONE don’t you?   I know I sure do…………………………………………

So, is it a date?   Will you come back next Thursday to visit and let us know you wrote a poem for this photo?   I will be here waiting to read it.   Meanwhile, have a great week ahead.   I will spend mine keeping an eye on my little brother Teddy and my Mom and Dad and everyone else that I love………..that’s YOU!

Hugs, Angel Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy…………….I love your poem this week and I just bet I will love your poem NEXT week.    I hope everyone will join us in writing a poem for your poetry challenge.   I really, truly do!

Big Hugs from Teddy to you……….

Happy Thursday!    Today’s my double purpose blog post………….first half I’m being THANKFUL for something and sharing it in the Blog Hop hosted by Brian and second half is Angel Sammy’s Poetry Challenge.     First up though is being THANKFUL.   Brian hosts this Thursday Hop and you can join in if you click his badge above and add your link!    What am I thankful for today?   I’m VERY thankful that I have been allowed to be an indoor AND outdoor kitty thanks to my “Kitty Holster” harness.    It keeps me calm and when I’m wearing it, I don’t RUN RUN RUN like I do if Mom decides to “unharness” me.    I have learned to be the perfect front porch guard which is what Sammy used to do.   I’m thankful he taught me that by whispering in my ear from the Rainbow Bridge.  He’s my Guardian Angel you know!

Now for the second part of my Thursday blog post, I will “cut and paste” Angel Sammy’s email transmission to me last night………………he has great wifi at the Bridge and sends us his Poem and message every single Thursday.   Ready?   Let’s see what kind of poem he did this week.

♥♥♥

Hello Poetry Friends (and non-poetry friends too!)

Thursday means poetry.    I gave you all a photo last week and your mission was to spend a week thinking about the photo and what it made you think of or feel and then writing a poem about the photo!   It’s fun.  You should TRY it if you haven’t joined us yet!     Then you can post it on your blog and tell us you did a poem giving us the link to it in our comments here so we can read it – OR you can write your poem in my comments!!    Easy Peasy right?    The photo I gave you last week to think about is below along with MY poem………

“Creatures From the Black Lagoon”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    May 10, 2018

Eons and ages and centuries ago

When the earth was a much more primitive place

There were creatures of mammoth size you know….

With “not necessarily friendly” face!

They’d lumber around shaking the trees and ground

Their size was absolutely monumental!

Some roared with ferocity but some made tiny sounds

Like their voices were almost experimental!

They dominated the world until humans appeared

And they were stalked and hunted for their meat

The humans had weapons so they had to be feared

Conquering their size was quite a feat.

Eventually the dinosaurs disappeared

The world began to change

Other animals more tame and less feared

Began to roam the range

Humans made friends with smaller species of cat

Not as fierce as the tiger called sabertooth

Domestic and spoiled and THAT was THAT

And this story of mine is THE TRUTH!!

Ha ha……bet you didn’t see THAT coming right?    Well it was a fun poem to do……….and I hope you enjoyed looking at those dinosaurs and coming to some sort of brilliant idea about what to write – come on – share!    If I can do it so can you!    If you didn’t write one for THIS photo – maybe this photo which is NEXT week’s challenge photo will appeal to you.   Give poetry a try.

I love this photo………..I hope it will inspire you in some way to write a poem about it for NEXT Thursday!   Until then, remember that I love all of you and miss all of you – and if you look up at the ceiling right before you fall asleep you just might see the flicker of Angel wings – it may be your own Angel or who knows – it might be ME stopping by to say goodnight.

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Hugs, Angel Sammy

Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

It’s that time of the week again – we have a double post – first is our Thankful Thursday hop post which is important to us because we have a chance to “shout out loud” about something we are thankful for.   This Hop is hosted by Brian and you can join us with a “Thankful” post by clicking his badge above and linking up!

Today I want to say that I am THANKFUL that we finally have amazing weather.   We had freeze warnings, winter coat days, hot days followed by winds of 40-45mph and all manner of WEIRD situations with our weather changing day by day and NOW it seems to have settled into Springsummer…….I combined those seasons because we still have a little unpredictable-ness with cold mornings and hot afternoons but WE WILL TAKE IT!

The second part of today’s blog is Angle Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday…………..and of course I got his poem and message for all of us last night.   That wi-fi connection of his at the Rainbow Bridge NEVER lets us down!!

♥♥♥

Happy Thursday Poetry Fans!

Time for us to share our poems with each other…….you know the drill by now – I give you a photo every week and you have a WHOLE WEEK to write a poem inspired by the photo.   Whatever the photo “says” to you, or how it makes you feel or what it makes you think of………that’s our Poetry Challenge!   I hope you have written one for us this week – if not – try next week – I promise you can write poetry even if you don’t think you can!

In case you forgot what the photo I gave you last week looked like – here it is again followed by the poem I wrote for this photo!!   I think this is a wonderful sketch by whoever drew it – it’s amazingly detailed and there is so much to be seen in this face……..

“A Life Lived Well”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell   May 2, 2018

He’s been around for many years

Had his share of laughs and tears

No matter what he chose to do

He gave it his all because it’s the right thing to do.

Perhaps he was a seaman, long hard days in the sun

Or maybe he worked in a carnival, watching others have some fun

Could he have been a train engineer or a corporate big wheel?

I see a life that’s full and more than just getting by

Moments of real happiness or sadness in those eyes

When we see someone on the sidewalk as we go about our day

If you look at faces you will see they have so much to say.

The lines and folds, the scars and frowns, the smiles all seem to tell

Our story is there for all to see that our life we have lived well.

I have no idea who this man is in the drawing but Mom was struck by the character in his face and just had a feeling all of us would not only see something there – but might just know all about him in a minute of studying the photo.   We may be wrong, but we think this gentleman truly has had a “life lived well”.

Now if you have written a poem – please tell us so in comments here – we will visit you and read what YOU got from this photo.    If you would rather, feel free to write your poem RIGHT HERE in our comments!    Whatever you do – let your imagination soar and write a poem.

I bet you’d like to know what I found for you NEXT week……………I do try to find interesting photos for you.    Here’s your challenge for next Thursday!

Oh boy!   This ought to be a goodie!    Let’s see what you can do with this one and we will meet back HERE one week from today to share our poetry OK?   OK!    Meanwhile, have a super week ahead everyone.   All of us at the Rainbow Bridge think of you and visit you – you will feel us in your heart if you just LISTEN.

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy!   I have learned a lot from you even though I never got to spend time with you before you left – I hope to feel confident soon to write my own poem on Thoroughly Poetic Thursday.

Hugs, Teddy (speaking of hugs…..

did you know today is HUG YOUR CAT day???)

Mom says HUGS are simple!
