Saturday Stuff

Standard
Sam Saying HI To The Camera

C'mon Mom....time to make breakfast!!

Saturday!  Kind of a day much like any other around here since my Mom and Dad are retired…..it’s not like they “sleep in” because they don’t have to go to work…….in fact they both still get up pre-dawn like they did when they worked!  Mom says some habits are hard to break.  Anyway, the one different thing about Saturday is that Daddy usually likes to have a big breakfast.  That’s OK with me because one of my most favorite treats (and yes I know I probably shouldn’t eat it but I do!) is always on the menu.  BACON!!!!!  I like a little piece of bacon.  That’s all I want – just a little piece – then I’ll walk away and leave my parents alone for the rest of their breakfast.

But that got me thinking…….I bet we ALL have our little favorite “treats” – some of us are content with regular made-for-kitty treats (which I personally love), but some of us also like stuff that our peeps eat too.

My particular favorites are:  bacon, butter, flavored yogurt (plain yogurt is yucky I think), once in a while a tiny edge of a piece of salami and I think that’s about it.  Now we’re talking TREATS here…..something you just get once in a while.

Come on everybody – ‘fess up……what’s it gonna be?  What goodies do you like?  (Human visitors can confess to their favorite sinful treats here too!!!!!).

Hope everybody has a nice Saturday – whether bacon’s on your menu or not!

I'll be right here when you get home Mom!

Bye Mom!  Daddy and I will behave ourselves – we promise – right Dad?  Dad?  Oh Dad?  Well, I’ll behave anyway!

Now, what should I do first now that Mom’s gone….let’s see…..I could go pull all the toilet paper from the rolls in all three bathrooms…..or I could go down to the basement and toss all the litter out of my box to give Dad something to do…..or maybe I could just go take a nap up in Mom’s studio where I can pretend she’s at the computer doing her thing.

It’s a rainy and windy day so I’m thinking Dad won’t be “up” for taking me outside, nor will I particularly be interested in getting soaked.

Maybe I could contact Kozmo from CATFROMHELL and see if he and the FBI (Feline Bureau of Investigation) need me to help out on the Mr. Chirpy caper?  Now that’s something that would surely keep me occupied the next few days…………….See?  I knew if I just stopped and thought about it I could come up with a plan.  Yippeee!

Chasing The Sun

Standard
Ahh....this spot will be sunny for AT LEAST another hour!

Hey...what happened...a few minutes ago the whole stair was covered in sun!

One thing all of us felines have in common it seems is our love of a nice, sunny spot…..sometimes we want to sleep in the sun puddle, sometimes we carry a favorite toy over to play with in the sun, sometimes it’s just to FEEL the sun on our fur.

But we are super good at learning where to be and when to be there in order to follow the sun in our houses.  In my case, we have three floors of possibilities.  Upstairs, while I love to snooze on my parents’ bed – it’s getting tougher to get up there as my “springiness” begins to get less effective as I age…..but the sun comes in the front windows best and the guest bedroom gets full sun every morning.  Then on the main floor, I have the stairs (like the photo), the library rug and Mom’s chair, under the dining room table (my pouting spot) and then in the afternoon when the sun is in the back of the house, I have the back of the couch OR I ask “pretty please” to go out on the deck in the sun so I can roll around and sunbathe.

Down in the basement I have a chair with an old yellow blanket on it that sits right in front of the french doors out to the backyard.  The chair has been right in that spot for my whole life and in the late afternoon I can ALWAYS be found snoozing there.

The sun feels good on my old bones……!

Oh – and before I forget to tell you – I’ve started my Santa Wish List and top of the list is something I overheard Mom and Dad talking about the other day – some “cat stairs” or a “carpeted ramp” so I can get up on my parents bed a bit easier since it’s so high off the ground, AND a nice heated and snuggly fleece lined bed so I can stay warm when Mom’s lap and legs (or a sun puddle) aren’t available!  I bet Santa can fit that stuff on his sleigh along with all the other stuff he’ll be delivering to us cats who’ve been good all year long so Santa will come – – – – am I right?

Happy Wednesday…… 🙂

Pigs In A Blanket?

Standard
Nap time.....again!

One of those nappy kind of days......zzzzzzzz

Happy Monday Peeps!  Here’s the thing on my mind this morning.  Mom says humans sometimes have a snack called “pigs in a blanket”………I think that’s just crazy!  Yesterday when she THOUGHT I was sound asleep she told Dad that I looked like a big red and white pig in a blanket.  Hmm….not sure how I feel about that….especially if it’s something humans EAT!   Now really – do I look like a snack?  I think I look kinda cute all snugged up in my blanket.  PIG?  Pigs are pink…….and they don’t live in big houses up on a big hill and eat Fancy Feast cat food, bacon, and butter.  Nope.

Alright - so I'm even MORE of a handful now than I was when this pic was taken!

Is this a picture of Dad holding a baby pig? I think not!!!!!

I think Mom and I will have to have a discussion about this pig thing this morning.   The only thing I WILL say about pigs is that I think they are kinda cute…………..so maybe I DO have something in common with pigs……..I mean I AM cute – right?

But I’m not pink!

Me And Mom

Standard
Sam up on our bed - staking claim to his favorite corner - must be nap time!

Betcha can't walk by me here on your bed without giving me a belly rub Mom!!

I have more news!  Yesterday I added that page on my blog for Mom….if you visit the blog home page you’ll see the link on top called “Mom’s Stuff”.  I was thinking about putting a bunch of her artwork on there BUT settled on one oil painting and one photo with a link to her website so you can if you wanna see ALLLLLLLLLL of her stuff.  Am I proud of my Mom?  Yeah….of course I am!

My Mom and I have a really close relationship.  Not that I don’t love my Dad ‘cuz I do – but I follow my Mom around everywhere she goes and talk to her all the time – she “gets” me more than Dad does; maybe because I’m the first cat he’s ever been around.  Mom’s an old hand at understanding feline stuff.  I have to admit that Dad’s come a long way since I came to live with them almost twelve years ago though – – – I didn’t think I’d be able to train him but after a lot of work I have to say he’s come along rather nicely!

Still, there’s nothing quite like my Mom’s lap for a nap…..and she’s the one who mostly keeps my litterbox nice and neat (I have a “thing” about that you know!).  She and I used to have our special time in the early morning while it was still dark.  She took me out on my leash and we’d walk all around the yard together ….. sometimes I would come over to her and put my paws up on her leg and ask her to pick me up and carry me – just so I could snuggle with her.  We’d watch the big airplanes flying overhead with all the flashing lights – and Mom would watch for shooting stars!  We don’t do those “in the dark” walks anymore though……now that we have our “visiting cat” Stevie, she stops by in the early mornings for her daily handout and I don’t like to be out there with her around – I’m working on being better about sharing my Mom but I’m still not very good at it!!!!!

Anyway, I’m a very lucky guy to have great parents……but I am really attached to good old Mom.

Happy Friday Peeps!!
