Rainy Day Activities!

What a view!

Rain, rain, and more rain....I'll have to find stuff to do INSIDE today!

Hello Everybody…..this morning is day two of pretty much non-stop rain.  I got out briefly yesterday but today sounds like it will be raining CONSTANTLY.  Ho hum.  That means Mom and Dad will be reading and I’ll be………what?  Hmm….oh yeah!  On rainy days, Mom and Dad try to keep me occupied with extra play opportunities.

Like for instance:

I'll just stay inside and play all day......

Playing on the stairs! Chase me!

I love for someone to chase me up and down the stairs – or throw my ball down so I can run after it…..or hide on the landing and wait for someone to come up so I can grab an ankle……tee hee

OR………maybe I can dig around in my toybox for something I haven’t played with in a while:

My toy box is actually a toy WAGON!

Lots of stuff to choose from...maybe the raccoon tail??

Say….I know… I could drag my whistle around and make it rattle….Daddy can’t resist chasing me when I do that!

Mom and Dad also sometimes drape blankets or afghans over furniture to make “forts” for me – that’s way cool too.  Gee – come to think of it I have NOTHING to complain about on a rainy day.  This is going to be a lot of fun AND, the weather guy said this morning it’s going to rain the rest of the week…..that means it’s FUN FOR SAM week!  WOO HOO!

I’m so lucky to be so spoiled……………..kitty hugs all around!

Rain! (and Freddy the Frog)

Where Sam's friend Freddy the Frog lives!

Here's where Freddy lives....whenever it rains, he comes out from these flowers to say hi!

Hi Everybody!  Guess what….it’s raining this morning….the kind of rain I like – nice and gentle.  I could hardly WAIT to go outside this morning because I knew my friend Freddy would be there.  He always comes out to play when it rains.  Sure enough, Mom and I rounded the corner by the end of the house and there he was – sitting on his rock!  Mom left me there with Freddy while she went down to get the newspaper from the mailbox – when she got back, Freddy and I were doing our usual thing.  Freddy sits and waits for me to give him a little push then he hops.  I just gently give him a shove and he’ll hop again!  I know if he didn’t enjoy our game he’d just hop away but he never does – he sits and waits for me to gently touch him and one big hop is all he does!

Sometimes I wonder if Freddy has a family that lives there too.  Maybe under those flowers and the dwarf alberta spruce tree there’s a whole frog community!  Freddy and his wife and children, and maybe Aunts and Uncles and who knows how many other frogs…….Freddy’s the only one I’ve ever seen though.  I know it’s him every time – he’s bigger than my paw and has spots on top.  I’ve seen other frogs around our yard or on our driveway, but Freddy’s the only one who plays with me.

Like most cats (so they say!) I eventually get tired of playing push the frog, or Freddy will hop back into his garden and disappear OR it starts raining really hard and I run for the door!  But while Freddy’s around, it makes rainy days that much more fun and special.  Of course we’ve needed rain for so long, it’s special anyway but getting to play with Freddy MADE MY DAY!

Hope you all have a nice rainy Sunday too (or if you don’t need rain, maybe you’d rather have a sunny Sunday??)…….

Yippeeee It’s Raining!

Sam's Front Yard

Maybe my front yard will look like this again since we're finally getting some RAIN??

Wheeee!  It’s finally raining here.  It’s been weeks since we even had a drop and this photo of my front yard – well – it was taken before the drought when things looked nice and green.  Right now this view is BROWN; brown grass, leaves on the trees brown (or already falling off), and it’s NOT a pretty sight.   I usually enjoy lying in the shade under a tree in the soft green grass.  Lately I feel like a pig rolling around in the dirt when I’m in the yard!  NOT A PRETTY SIGHT…………

I will be asking Mom to take me out on the front porch in a little bit – probably when I get my blog finished…..because I do enjoy standing in the rain if it’s not raining hard.  AND, I’m sure there will be some nice fresh smells out there too………so picture me sitting on the wet sidewalk, my pink nose up in the air, taking in the scent of wet grass and trees……and probably some other things like whatever the deer “left behind” when they passed through last night – and maybe a groundhog or two…..and probably some unauthorized visitors like neighborhood cats!   That doesn’t mean my “bud” Stevie though – she’s allowed (if she behaves herself of course!).

The weather guy said this rain will move through this morning, then maybe more later.  The stuff later might bring thunder and lightning – which means of course I’ll be hiding in my hidey-hole in the basement.  But this rain we’re getting now – Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh – My kind of rain!  Quiet and fresh……Nice!

Sam’s Rainy Day Activities

Raining…..lots of it…..it sounds nice up in Mom’s studio on the skylight, it looks nice out the windows making nice muddy puddles for me to play in later when the rain stops…..but it also IS keeping me from going outside to play!  Oh well…..I do have lots of stuff I can do inside.  I can pester Mom while she’s writing or painting, I can drag out some toys to play with from my toy box/wagon, I could patrol the house in case a bug has sneaked in when the door was open………..or I could always NAP!

Mom was looking through some old photos this morning and found this one which I think is kinda funny.  Me one Christmas with a toy I thought was pretty cool (apparently).  I think I remember seeing it the other day when I was doing inventory in my toy box.

Hmm...this thing has a cool fuzzy tail...kinda tickles my nose!

Hmm...this thing has a fuzzy tail that tickles my nose!!

HA!  Anyway, seems like I shouldn’t be complaining just cause it’s raining.   One thing about us cats…..we can keep ourselves entertained for hours on end.   Yesterday there was a baseball game on TV.  I don’t normally waste my valuable time watching that TV thing but I enjoy baseball and football.  My parents can’t figure that out but for me, it’s got something to do with balls flying through the air and people running around.   Fun to watch!  Humans sure do have to go through a lot of trouble just to have fun……

I’m glad I’m a cat…….oh yeah…..not just any old cat….I like being ONE SPOILED CAT!
