Thankful Thanksgiving and Poetry

Standard

What better way to celebrate being THANKFUL than on THANKSGIVING! Brian has the perfect blog hop for everyone today and if you’d like to join in and express your thanks – please click on his badge and join in.

We are mostly thankful for our health at my house but also thankful for ALL OF YOU.    You are the people who keep us going.    We blog so we can enjoy your company and your sense of humor and your support and about a million other things.    The blogosphere is a HUGE world as you know…..some people try it and don’t like it and stop.    Angel Sammy and Mom started this blog in May of 2011 and after Angel Sammy left us, I took his place and we are still going strong.    That is a BIG THANKFUL.

Angel Sammy STILL is involved in the blog though as you know – in several ways but the biggest of ways is his POETIC THURSDAY.    And I got his email last night so here’s what he has for all of us this week:

♥♥♥

Happy Thanksgiving Friends!

I spent a lot of Thanksgivings with my Mom and Dad and know how much they enjoyed the big feast with family.    This year they will be alone – with Teddy – for the feasting.    Mom is doing the whole turkey and trimmings thing and they will have a fire in the fireplace and Teddy will sleep through the whole thing – just like I did when I lived there!

We hope that you took a little time this past week to use the photo I gave you last Thursday as inspiration in order to write a poem to share with us.    I wrote mine and below is the photo we all used and my poem.

“Visible In Space!”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©November 25, 2020

Look at those lights – they’re all over the place!

No doubt this home is visible up in space…………

Every inch of property is covered in lights

Their electric bill must truly be a fright

But they don’t mind this is a holiday fun

It’s not just for THEM but for EVERYONE!

The most popular house for a Christmas tour

You can hardly ignore it – that’s for sure!

The joy of the season shines from every inch

And overseeing it all is “himself” – the Grinch!

One thing for sure is that the night of Santa’s flight

He’ll definitely find this house – as follows the light!

HAHA.   Well, I am sure these folks don’t care what the electric bill is – they have fun and that’s what’s important.    They have spirit.    I’m sure the whole neighborhood gets caught up in it too.

Now – did you write a poem?  Let us know in comments won’t you?  We’d love to read it.    Don’t say “I can’t write poetry” because trust me – YOU CAN DO THIS!    Give it a try……then share it with us.

Want to see the photo for NEXT Thursday’s poetic get-together?     Here it is:

My Mom said she always wanted to go in the Fun House or Haunted House, etc. at a carnival but that her memory of what was INSIDE was not always FUN – sometimes it was VERY SCARY!   I think this might make for some fun poetry don’t you?

Well my friends, our time has come and gone.    I want to wish all of you a VERY HAPPY THANKSGIVING if you celebrate it – if you don’t – I’ll just THANK YOU for being our friend.    See you next week and please continue to STAY SAFE.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thank you Angel Sammy.    I sure am thankful that you are my Angel Brother.     You guide me every day.    I always think “what would Sammy do?” or “what would Sammy think?”…….that has helped me grow up to be a good cat (Mom says anyway!).

Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday everybody.    Let’s get THANKFUL – we have some of the usual thankfuls this week like getting to go outside, finally getting some actual RAIN which we badly needed, a couple of cool days, and more good health news for my Dad.    One thing we never take for granted though is that we DO have things to be thankful for.   So many people claim they have NOTHING – but if they really thought about it, they would realize that sometimes just BEING HERE is something they should be thankful for!    If you would like to share your thankfuls – click on Brian’s badge above to join in the THANKFUL THURSDAY BLOG HOP.

The other thing we do on our Thursdays, is show you the email we get from Angel Sammy for Poetic Thursday.    He writes to all of us from the Rainbow Bridge to transmit his poem of the week and give us a photo to inspire us for the NEXT week.    Ready to read it?   Here it is………………..

♥♥♥

Hello Poetic Friends!

Here we are in our usual spot in the blogosphere to share poetry we’ve written ourselves.   Aren’t you proud of that?  You should be.   So many people have never written a poem – ever.   It’s a great way to share feelings, thoughts, ideas – and most of all it’s fun when you use a photo of something as your “poetic inspiration”.    That’s what we do each week.    I give you a photo to think about and you write a poem based on the photo in some way.

I happen to know that my Mom and Dad are going to be taking a little break next week and won’t be returning until Thursday afternoon – BUT I’m still going to give you a photo prompt for next Thursday – when Mom gets home she will pop on the computer to see what you’ve written!     We will have a post that day too – I’ve already written a poem for next week myself based on the photo you will see later in this post.     WE ARE ON TOP OF THINGS ON EARTH AND AT THE BRIDGE…………………. Now, here’s the photo I gave you last week followed by my poem.   I just LOVE this photo.

“Don’t Be Scared!”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©October 2, 2019

First day of nursery school and here we are

Dropped off by Mommy in Daddy’s car

I’m glad we have each other to hold on to

You’ll be here for me and I’ll be here for you!

I think that’s our teacher way over there

Try not to cry and try not to stare

Being away from home and our toys and stuff

Makes first day at school really, truly rough

But we’ll be just fine cuz we’ve got each other

After nap time we’ll go home with our mother!!

HAHA……this photo had SO MANY possibilities………in fact when I was writing this I had about five other ideas but I figured I’d just stick with this one!    If you wrote a poem, let us know you did and share your link in our comments.    Thanks to all of you who write poetry and play along with us.    We love reading your work and hope you enjoy mine.

Here’s your photo for NEXT week:

I like this one a lot………..Indian culture is so interesting and we love their outfits and traditions.    This one will be fun………………..hope to see your poem next week when we share!!    Meanwhile, have a happy week………………….

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love from the Bridge, Angel Sammy

Thank you for visiting us Angel Sammy……………..

Thankful and Poetic Thursday!

Standard

Happy Thursday to one and all!    Double day here for me with Thankful Thursday Hop and Angel Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday challenge.   First up is always being THANKFUL because it is VERY important to recognize all the things we are thankful for.    This past week I was thankful for having such a wonderful place to stay when Mom and Dad are away for a bit – “Paws A While Pet Hotel” is the BEST.   The Sisters who own and operate it are so sweet and they spoil me rotten just as they spoiled Angel Sammy before me.   I’m grateful to be with them.

Wouldn’t you like to join in being Thankful and visiting to see what everyone ELSE is thankful for?   If you would, just click Brian’s badge above and fill out the form with your link.   Easy!

Next up today will be Angel Sammy’s weekly email to me which is transmits from the Rainbow Bridge – it’s all about POETRY!

♥♥♥

GREETINGS FRIENDS!!!!    It’s me – Angel Sammy, your old pal now residing at the Rainbow Bridge.    Just because I’m HERE and not THERE doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy a poem from time to time.   This little exercise is for all of us to share some poetry once a week.   If you’re not participating, I hope you’ll change your mind and be part of the fun.    If you have written a poem just let us know in comments with your link………..OR you can write your poem IN comments so we can all read it!    FUN huh?   Well it is!   Trust me!

Last week I gave you the photo below to use as your “inspiration” for this week’s poem.    I thought it was a super interesting photo with the buffalo – such an ancient and majestic beast – in the foreground while in the background an ancient geyser – Old Faithful – did its’ thing in a plume of steam from deep within the earth.   Kind of a primitive feel.   Anyway, here’s the photo I gave you, followed by the poem I wrote based on the inspiration I got from the photo:

“Majestic”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell      October 17, 2018

In ancient times many beasts did roam

The bison was one and this was his home

Since prehistoric times this land was theirs

They adapted to change with very few cares

The landscape of Yellowstone may have changed

But the bison still belong there – this is their range.

Majestic formations dot their land

Geysers, hot springs, proof of nature’s hand.

They’ve survived through so much – in good times and bleak

Imagine what they could tell us if they could but speak…………..

There’s something so “ancient” about the look of bison………….they have their issues and always have.   They’ve been hunted, their herds culled for various reasons, diseases have plagued them, and yet they go on and on and on as they have since prehistoric times.   There’s something rather MAGICAL about that don’t you think?

Here’s your photo for next week – I hope you like it and find some inspiration for a poem to share with us next Thursday……………

My Mom said this brings back some memories for her……………..I wonder why there’s no “TREAT TRUCK” in neighborhoods for we dogs and cats?    I think it would be popular, don’t you?????

I hope you’ll write a poem with us next week………………I’ll be working on mine to share with you.    Meanwhile, everyone take care of yourselves and know that we Angels are working behind the scenes to try and help as much as we can with everything going on “back home” where you all are.    Love is forever…………

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

Cool poem Angel Sammy!    Those beasts are very strange looking if you ask me, but I say all things from prehistoric periods look just a bit strange – maybe just knowing how long they have SURVIVED in some form or another……..bison are very cool.

See you next Thursday for Poetry!

Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Happy Thankful Thursday!    Time to join in Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop (click above) and talk about the things we’re thankful for this past week or ANY time.    Well today I had an occasion to be VERY thankful because my parents disappeared early this morning without a “see you soon Ted” or “we’ll bring you a surprise Ted”………poof they were gone.   THANKFULLY they came home this afternoon so I didn’t even have time for a good old panic attack.   I was just thankful they came home – I was able to get them to take me outside for a breath of fresh air and a nice yard cruise.

I’m also super thankful that Angel Sammy sent his poem and message to us again……..I look forward to that every week and I hope you do too!   The best thing is that apparently at the Rainbow Bridge they get SUPER good Wi-Fi so he can use his laptop to send us his weekly poem…….. Shall we see what kind of poem he wrote for the photo he gave us last week?   LET’S!!!

♥♥♥

Happy Poetic Thursday Friends!

Time for us to get together and share the poems we wrote during the week based on the photo I gave you last Thursday.  You’ve had a whole week to think about that photo and see what it conjures up in your creative brain in the way of some words strung together in ANY kind of poetic form.   There are TONS of poetic forms too…..I know one of them is right for you.    Did you know that poetry doesn’t have to rhyme?   People write to me saying they can’t do rhymes – well that doesn’t mean you can’t write poetry!!!

So here’s the photo I gave you LAST week to study and see what comes to your mind and write a poem about it – – – followed by MY poem based on the photo – – – followed by a NEW photo to use for inspiration for NEXT Thursday’s poetic get-together!

“Old Fashioned Fun”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     July 11, 2018

Back in “the good old days” according to some

There was such excitement when the day would come

The Carnival trucks and tents would come into town

There might even be a crazy old clown!

The tents were full of magic just like in a dream

There were hot dogs, cotton candy and delicious ice cream

Sometimes pony rides, ferris wheels, ladies with beards!

You saw all kinds of sights – some funny and some weird!

There were games like penny toss, bust the balloon, win a fish

You could win tacky stuffed animals or a cheap china dish

But Mom says the one thing she saw most if she stayed there a while

Were lots of very happy people and they ALL had a smile!

Well I don’t really know what a carnival is but if Mom and Dad say they were fabulous then I believe them.    If people smiled a lot that’s a GOOD THING……..Mom says these days you just don’t see as many smiles as “back in the day” (whatever THAT means!).

Now, how about YOU sharing YOUR poem with us – all you have to do is put your blog link in our comments here and we’ll follow it and read your poem!    Or if you want to, you can write your poem in our comments.    But I sure would be happy if you tried out your creative side and wrote a poem to share with us………..So come on and give it a whirl.

For next week, I picked out this photo to inspire you – how does it make you feel?  What do you think about when you see it?   Just have FUN with it and share next Thursday.

Now that ought to be a good one right?    So can I count on you to join us next week?   I’ll look for you……………..come to think of it, I’m ALWAYS looking for you because now that I’m at the Rainbow Bridge, I look out for everyone I care about.    Especially my little brother Teddy who I never even got to meet……..AND my Mom and Dad who gave me a forever home so many years ago.

Give Poetry A Try – You Just Might LIKE It !!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love Always, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy…………I love your poem – makes me wish I could have gone to a carnival.   Mom says there haven’t been any around here in years and years.  They do have a County Fair but it’s NOT at all like the carnivals she went to when she was little (when dinosaurs roamed the earth….hahaha).

So have a great Thursday everybody………………!

Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

It’s that time of the week again – we have a double post – first is our Thankful Thursday hop post which is important to us because we have a chance to “shout out loud” about something we are thankful for.   This Hop is hosted by Brian and you can join us with a “Thankful” post by clicking his badge above and linking up!

Today I want to say that I am THANKFUL that we finally have amazing weather.   We had freeze warnings, winter coat days, hot days followed by winds of 40-45mph and all manner of WEIRD situations with our weather changing day by day and NOW it seems to have settled into Springsummer…….I combined those seasons because we still have a little unpredictable-ness with cold mornings and hot afternoons but WE WILL TAKE IT!

The second part of today’s blog is Angle Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday…………..and of course I got his poem and message for all of us last night.   That wi-fi connection of his at the Rainbow Bridge NEVER lets us down!!

♥♥♥

Happy Thursday Poetry Fans!

Time for us to share our poems with each other…….you know the drill by now – I give you a photo every week and you have a WHOLE WEEK to write a poem inspired by the photo.   Whatever the photo “says” to you, or how it makes you feel or what it makes you think of………that’s our Poetry Challenge!   I hope you have written one for us this week – if not – try next week – I promise you can write poetry even if you don’t think you can!

In case you forgot what the photo I gave you last week looked like – here it is again followed by the poem I wrote for this photo!!   I think this is a wonderful sketch by whoever drew it – it’s amazingly detailed and there is so much to be seen in this face……..

“A Life Lived Well”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell   May 2, 2018

He’s been around for many years

Had his share of laughs and tears

No matter what he chose to do

He gave it his all because it’s the right thing to do.

Perhaps he was a seaman, long hard days in the sun

Or maybe he worked in a carnival, watching others have some fun

Could he have been a train engineer or a corporate big wheel?

I see a life that’s full and more than just getting by

Moments of real happiness or sadness in those eyes

When we see someone on the sidewalk as we go about our day

If you look at faces you will see they have so much to say.

The lines and folds, the scars and frowns, the smiles all seem to tell

Our story is there for all to see that our life we have lived well.

I have no idea who this man is in the drawing but Mom was struck by the character in his face and just had a feeling all of us would not only see something there – but might just know all about him in a minute of studying the photo.   We may be wrong, but we think this gentleman truly has had a “life lived well”.

Now if you have written a poem – please tell us so in comments here – we will visit you and read what YOU got from this photo.    If you would rather, feel free to write your poem RIGHT HERE in our comments!    Whatever you do – let your imagination soar and write a poem.

I bet you’d like to know what I found for you NEXT week……………I do try to find interesting photos for you.    Here’s your challenge for next Thursday!

Oh boy!   This ought to be a goodie!    Let’s see what you can do with this one and we will meet back HERE one week from today to share our poetry OK?   OK!    Meanwhile, have a super week ahead everyone.   All of us at the Rainbow Bridge think of you and visit you – you will feel us in your heart if you just LISTEN.

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy!   I have learned a lot from you even though I never got to spend time with you before you left – I hope to feel confident soon to write my own poem on Thoroughly Poetic Thursday.

Hugs, Teddy (speaking of hugs…..

did you know today is HUG YOUR CAT day???)

Mom says HUGS are simple!
