Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thankful Thursday!    Time to join in Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop (click above) and talk about the things we’re thankful for this past week or ANY time.    Well today I had an occasion to be VERY thankful because my parents disappeared early this morning without a “see you soon Ted” or “we’ll bring you a surprise Ted”………poof they were gone.   THANKFULLY they came home this afternoon so I didn’t even have time for a good old panic attack.   I was just thankful they came home – I was able to get them to take me outside for a breath of fresh air and a nice yard cruise.

I’m also super thankful that Angel Sammy sent his poem and message to us again……..I look forward to that every week and I hope you do too!   The best thing is that apparently at the Rainbow Bridge they get SUPER good Wi-Fi so he can use his laptop to send us his weekly poem…….. Shall we see what kind of poem he wrote for the photo he gave us last week?   LET’S!!!

♥♥♥

Happy Poetic Thursday Friends!

Time for us to get together and share the poems we wrote during the week based on the photo I gave you last Thursday.  You’ve had a whole week to think about that photo and see what it conjures up in your creative brain in the way of some words strung together in ANY kind of poetic form.   There are TONS of poetic forms too…..I know one of them is right for you.    Did you know that poetry doesn’t have to rhyme?   People write to me saying they can’t do rhymes – well that doesn’t mean you can’t write poetry!!!

So here’s the photo I gave you LAST week to study and see what comes to your mind and write a poem about it – – – followed by MY poem based on the photo – – – followed by a NEW photo to use for inspiration for NEXT Thursday’s poetic get-together!

“Old Fashioned Fun”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     July 11, 2018

Back in “the good old days” according to some

There was such excitement when the day would come

The Carnival trucks and tents would come into town

There might even be a crazy old clown!

The tents were full of magic just like in a dream

There were hot dogs, cotton candy and delicious ice cream

Sometimes pony rides, ferris wheels, ladies with beards!

You saw all kinds of sights – some funny and some weird!

There were games like penny toss, bust the balloon, win a fish

You could win tacky stuffed animals or a cheap china dish

But Mom says the one thing she saw most if she stayed there a while

Were lots of very happy people and they ALL had a smile!

Well I don’t really know what a carnival is but if Mom and Dad say they were fabulous then I believe them.    If people smiled a lot that’s a GOOD THING……..Mom says these days you just don’t see as many smiles as “back in the day” (whatever THAT means!).

Now, how about YOU sharing YOUR poem with us – all you have to do is put your blog link in our comments here and we’ll follow it and read your poem!    Or if you want to, you can write your poem in our comments.    But I sure would be happy if you tried out your creative side and wrote a poem to share with us………..So come on and give it a whirl.

For next week, I picked out this photo to inspire you – how does it make you feel?  What do you think about when you see it?   Just have FUN with it and share next Thursday.

Now that ought to be a good one right?    So can I count on you to join us next week?   I’ll look for you……………..come to think of it, I’m ALWAYS looking for you because now that I’m at the Rainbow Bridge, I look out for everyone I care about.    Especially my little brother Teddy who I never even got to meet……..AND my Mom and Dad who gave me a forever home so many years ago.

Give Poetry A Try – You Just Might LIKE It !!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love Always, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy…………I love your poem – makes me wish I could have gone to a carnival.   Mom says there haven’t been any around here in years and years.  They do have a County Fair but it’s NOT at all like the carnivals she went to when she was little (when dinosaurs roamed the earth….hahaha).

So have a great Thursday everybody………………!

Love, Teddy the Napper

Thankful Thursday Blog Hop!

It’s that time of the week again – we have a double post – first is our Thankful Thursday hop post which is important to us because we have a chance to “shout out loud” about something we are thankful for.   This Hop is hosted by Brian and you can join us with a “Thankful” post by clicking his badge above and linking up!

Today I want to say that I am THANKFUL that we finally have amazing weather.   We had freeze warnings, winter coat days, hot days followed by winds of 40-45mph and all manner of WEIRD situations with our weather changing day by day and NOW it seems to have settled into Springsummer…….I combined those seasons because we still have a little unpredictable-ness with cold mornings and hot afternoons but WE WILL TAKE IT!

The second part of today’s blog is Angle Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday…………..and of course I got his poem and message for all of us last night.   That wi-fi connection of his at the Rainbow Bridge NEVER lets us down!!

♥♥♥

Happy Thursday Poetry Fans!

Time for us to share our poems with each other…….you know the drill by now – I give you a photo every week and you have a WHOLE WEEK to write a poem inspired by the photo.   Whatever the photo “says” to you, or how it makes you feel or what it makes you think of………that’s our Poetry Challenge!   I hope you have written one for us this week – if not – try next week – I promise you can write poetry even if you don’t think you can!

In case you forgot what the photo I gave you last week looked like – here it is again followed by the poem I wrote for this photo!!   I think this is a wonderful sketch by whoever drew it – it’s amazingly detailed and there is so much to be seen in this face……..

“A Life Lived Well”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell   May 2, 2018

He’s been around for many years

Had his share of laughs and tears

No matter what he chose to do

He gave it his all because it’s the right thing to do.

Perhaps he was a seaman, long hard days in the sun

Or maybe he worked in a carnival, watching others have some fun

Could he have been a train engineer or a corporate big wheel?

I see a life that’s full and more than just getting by

Moments of real happiness or sadness in those eyes

When we see someone on the sidewalk as we go about our day

If you look at faces you will see they have so much to say.

The lines and folds, the scars and frowns, the smiles all seem to tell

Our story is there for all to see that our life we have lived well.

I have no idea who this man is in the drawing but Mom was struck by the character in his face and just had a feeling all of us would not only see something there – but might just know all about him in a minute of studying the photo.   We may be wrong, but we think this gentleman truly has had a “life lived well”.

Now if you have written a poem – please tell us so in comments here – we will visit you and read what YOU got from this photo.    If you would rather, feel free to write your poem RIGHT HERE in our comments!    Whatever you do – let your imagination soar and write a poem.

I bet you’d like to know what I found for you NEXT week……………I do try to find interesting photos for you.    Here’s your challenge for next Thursday!

Oh boy!   This ought to be a goodie!    Let’s see what you can do with this one and we will meet back HERE one week from today to share our poetry OK?   OK!    Meanwhile, have a super week ahead everyone.   All of us at the Rainbow Bridge think of you and visit you – you will feel us in your heart if you just LISTEN.

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy!   I have learned a lot from you even though I never got to spend time with you before you left – I hope to feel confident soon to write my own poem on Thoroughly Poetic Thursday.

Hugs, Teddy (speaking of hugs…..

did you know today is HUG YOUR CAT day???)

Mom says HUGS are simple!

It’s Thursday!   Time for the THANKFUL blog hop Brian hosts at his blog AND for Angel Sammy’s poetry day.    First though let’s give some time to be THANKFUL.   If you want to join us, please click Brian’s badge and join in by filling out the LINKY tool.    It’s great to share our thankfuls every week.    This week I’m super thankful that the weather has been nice enough that I’d been able to go outside a LOT and it’s not even really NICE and Springy – but it’s NICER than winter weather so my parents have been taking me out more.   I love being in my yard……..I munch on grass (yes we actually have some coming up already!) and enjoy the sun on my furs (if the sun’s out of course otherwise I just ENJOY the fresh air).    Mom and Dad are positive I was an outdoor kitty before they adopted me – I love the great outdoors and actually enjoy the COLD.    I think that’s why they think maybe I was a barn cat or had a major outside connection.   I can’t give it up but at least I’m SAFE out there with my harness and leash on.

Now for the next part of today’s blog – Angel Sammy transmitted his POETIC THUSDAY poem to me via his internet connection at the Rainbow Bridge so I will show you that now!

♥♥♥

Hello Friends!   Ready for some poetry?

I hope some more of you have thought a little more about joining in our Poetry Challenge every week because it sure is FUN.    I didn’t have a lot of time to work on a poem this week because they are keeping us busy at the Bridge with Easter and Passover coming up……..we have a lot of ANGELIC duties to take care of you know.    BUT I did find some time and using the photo I gave you last week as your poetic inspiration, I crafted my poem based on this photo!

First of all – don’t you just LOVE this photo?   what a fabulous spot this would be to spend a summer afternoon…………all those beautiful tulips and petty green trees and grass????!!!!   Spread out a picnic blanket and VOILA – heavenly!    So here’s the poem I wrote to go with this photo.

“Happy Faces”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    March 28, 2018

Acres of blooms in gardens galore

Springtime is popping with flowers and more

Trees bud and shrubs grow and nature awakes

New growth needs warm breezes and all the sun it can take

Blooming flowers in colors from pastels to deep hue

Glistening in morning sun as it shines on the dew

Have you ever noticed when you see flowers that they make you smile?

It’s great to observe if you sit down in a garden for a while

People stop and point and smell the bouquet of  scent in the air

For a minute or an hour, you can forget all your cares

Get lost in the glory that comes from the flowers

Their beauty and color contain so much power

A garden of flowers is such a happy place

It’s for sure you will see more than one happy face!

Flowers are special – and you can’t look at a garden full of flowers without smiling at the wonder of the beauty of nature.   I used to go out in to my Mom’s garden when she had one in our backyard and just SIT…….I sometimes would lie down and squash some flowers accidentally (oops) and stay there for an hour – sometimes falling asleep while Mom pulled weeds or cut flowers all around me.   I just found it a happy place.   She doesn’t have a flower garden anymore but it’s a fond memory of mine.    I expect Teddy will enjoy being outside with Mom as she weeds her perennial bed (which is a lot less work to have!).

I hope you enjoyed my poem today and I bet when I read YOURS I will enjoy them too!    The tulip photo speaks to me of SPRING and EASTER and warm weather…………..what did the photo “tell” you when you looked at it?    If you wrote a poem, tell us you did in comments and give us your blog link so we can read it OR put your poem in our comments and SHARE.

Meanwhile, I have a photo for your NEXT WEEK’s poem inspiration……………can’t wait to see what you write for this one.

Our poetry challenge will be to write a poem about this photo – how does it make you feel?  What do you see and what do you think.    I will see the answers to those questions NEXT Thursday when we share our poetry!

Meanwhile, HAVE A WONDERFUL EASTER OR PASSOVER!

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Big Angelic Hugs from me to all of you!

Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy!   I love your poem today but then again I love all your poems.   I hope everyone else wrote one – it’s fun to see what people come up with.    Thanks for joining in the fun everybody.

Today Is Double Post Day!

First up is THANKFUL THURSDAY

This Blog Hop is hosted by Brian at Brians Home Blog – you can click his badge above to go there and sign up to be PART of Thankful Thursday if you like!    It’s our chance to tell what we are thankful for from the past week or whenever!    In my case I look back at the previous week and think about what I’ve been thankful for………….this week I was thankful to have my very FIRST “Gotcha Day”.    Mom and Dad brought me home to live with them on February 5, 2017 and what a wonderful life I’m leading here.   I was 11 months old and homeless at the shelter and now I’m not too far from turning TWO and living the life of “One Spoiled Cat” just like my Angel brother Sammy did!    I am truly thankful.

Again my Angel brother Sammy didn’t let us all down – he got his photo poem to me which is what we’ll be reading in PART TWO of today’s double post…………….here’s what he sent to us all!

♥♥♥

Hello Friends – it’s me coming to you from the Rainbow Bridge!

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine’s Day……we celebrated at the Bridge too but we were all reminiscing about our BIGGEST LOVE – we all agreed those we left behind when we went to the Bridge are our most SPECIAL VALENTINES.

I hope you are enjoying the photo poetry challenge – those of you who are participating are really doing SO WELL with your poems – I’m pleased you’re having fun – I sure am.    This week’s photo is below followed by my poem to go with it – I hope you like it.    If you’ve written one, please leave your link in my comments so we can read it !!    If you haven’t joined us before – PLEASE DO – we encourage everyone to stretch their wings and write a poem….you CAN do it…..I promise you can.

“Home Sweet Home”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell   Feb. 15, 2018

In the vastness of space we can’t be alone

I mean other lifeforms – I’m not talking clones!

Do they have six heads and four legs – or more?

Will they visit us soon or have they been here before?

As we send things in space like satellites and rockets

Does some giant gather them up and stuff them in his pockets?

Are our space probes just trophies for beings in space?

When I look at this photo my imagination does race!

I can watch from my cloud at the Bridge and I wonder

Are other beings sending rain?  Are their voices the thunder?

Will they watch us implode or give us a hand………

Show us the way out before humankind’s last stand?

Such heavy thoughts for an Angel in paradise far away

The blue planet is still MY HOME, so I continue to pray

Planet Earth is a beauty – we can see that from afar

We must take good care of home – our Blue Planet Star…………..

Now it’s YOUR turn…………….I hope you’ve written a poem this week.    If you didn’t but think you’d like to give writing one a try – how about using this photo I’m about to show you as your inspiration for NEXT Thursday when we gather again for my Poetic Thursday?     Just look at this photo below and describe in your poem how it makes you feel, what you see, what you THINK you see, or anything else that pops into your head when you look at it!    Is it a deal?    Here’s next week’s photo challenge:

Have Fun With This One!

I’ll be back next Thursday to show you my poem – we all have a whole week to study the photo and write a poem………………until then, have a GREAT week!

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy – I like your poem…………makes me think.   I hope that Earth will be around for a very long time and I think it will if we take good care of it!    Sending you hugs from EARTH to the BRIDGE……………..

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Time to be Thankful and then for us to see what poem Angel Sammy came up with for his Poetic Photo Thursday!    Want to join in this special Hop hosted by Brian?   Just click on the badge above and join in – we would love to hear from you!   As for my own Thankfuls this week – well I think all of us probably are most thankful for family and time together for the holidays.   I know I feel that way – my first Christmas with my Mom and Dad was wonderful……………I paid little attention to presents – mostly I just wanted to be NEAR the Christmas tree where I’ve enjoyed lots of pre-Christmas naps under the tree……….now all the presents are gone I have all that space for myself – but I have this feeling my beloved tree is going to be disappearing soon!    Still I’m thankful that I know what Christmas is about and it’s not gifts – it’s about love.

Angel Sammy transmitted his poem to me last night – he did miss having Christmas here this year but then it was BEFORE Christmas last year that he went to the Bridge so this is his second “missed” Christmas.    We certainly thought about him on December 2nd – I never met him but I “know” him because we cats are brothers and sisters of one big family………….and we know that one day we will all be at the Bridge together.

Here’s Angel Sammy’s poem………….

♥♥♥

It’s Time For Poetic Thursday!

Hello my friends!   As my little brother Teddy has already said – we all hope your holiday was bright and beautiful.    It’s always bright and beautiful at the Rainbow Bridge but those of us who are Angels wish we could be with our families in purrrrson instead of in spirit when it comes to special occasions like holidays.

Did you write a poem this week to share with us?    We have been doing PHOTO-inspired poems instead of using the alphabet – I hope you’re having fun with that.    This was the photo I gave you last week to think about and write a poem about – followed by MY poetic thought about it!

“A New Start”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell, Dec. 28, 2017

In the dark night sky the colors are bright

They light up our hearts as they light up the night

They signal the start of a brand new year

Their bold colors pop as their sound fills our ears

The world full of hope that perhaps a new start

A new year might just bring some peace in our hearts

It sometimes seems like peace is so far away

Perhaps it will come closer if we hope and we pray

It must overcome the ache of the losses we feel

It must conquer threats from others so real

In a world full of doubt that real peace can be reached

Let LOVE be the way for those fences to be breached.

I think everyone would like for the new year to bring a new start – let’s make sure it is one!    We Angels promise to work overtime to help…………… ♥

I’m hoping you will share your poem this week by giving us notice in our comments here that you have a poem written for us to read – just give us your link OR you can even write your poem in our comments…………just give it a try……….so many people have said “I can’t write poetry” but when I ask them to try to express their thoughts about a photo or a word they CAN.    You know what?  We truly CAN do anything including write a poem.    Here’s my photo for you to think about this coming week – then next Thursday we will all share again!   Just think it will be 2018 then.  WOW.

Oh I think this one will be FUN!

I hope to see you here again next Thursday with a poem about this photo – what does this make you think of, feel, what do you see, WANT to see………use your imagination and write a poem!

‘Tis I ! Angel Sammy, zeeee French poet!!!

Until next week, Angel Sammy signing off from the Bridge……..with hugs!

Thanks a lot Angel Sammy………….I like your poem today but I can’t WAIT to see what you come up with for NEXT week!

Sammy was a party animal!

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Thankful Blog Hop and Poetry From Angel Sam

Today we have TWO things going on here – one is our joining in on the THANKFUL Blog Hop at Brian’s – which you can join too by clicking his badge, using the LINKY TOOL and hopping along with us as we talk about what we’re thankful for!    I’m so thankful that Irma is GONE………she was a horrible storm and certainly did more than her share of damage as she tore through Florida and lashed out at other states on her way out of Florida.    Life will get back to normal for everyone but it will take a lot of time and help.    Just as with Harvey through Texas and Louisiana – one thing has been proven – YOU CAN’T KEEP PEOPLE’S SPIRIT DOWN!    We pick ourselves up, dust ourselves off and keep on going.

The second part of today’s blog is the part that my brother, Angel Sammy transmits to me every Wednesday night from the Rainbow Bridge………because it was HIM who started the Thoroughly Poetic Thursday challenge and he’s still writing even though he left for the Bridge before I could meet him and before he got through the whole alphabet for the poems.

Just in case you aren’t familiar with the challenge, every week we have a new letter of the alphabet to use as our “KEY LETTER” to write a poem about something.   It can be about anything as long as the subject of the poem begins with that week’s letter!     We started at A and we are now up to N.     Angel Sammy sends me HIS poem and I share it with you on Thursdays and he will give us some “prompts” – words that start with the next letter – sometimes it helps to get some ideas but you are FREE to write your poem about ANYTHING at all that begins with that week’s letter!

Got it?    OK, here’s what Angel Sammy sent me last night!!

♥♥♥

Hello my friends!   It’s me, Angel Sammy coming to you from the Rainbow Bridge courtesy of our great Wi-Fi service!     It’s time for us to share our poems with each other – please feel free to put a link to your poem in my comments here OR you can even put your poem in my comments if you like.    But I do hope you’ve written a poem this week – give poetry a try – remember poetry doesn’t have to rhyme – it’s an expression in words and it comes from your heart!    The prompt words I gave you LAST Thursday that you might use if you need some help were:

(1) Naughty (2) Nice (3) Normal (4) New

Doesn’t have to be about one of those words but I give you four just to JUMPSTART your own creative process if you need it!     Want to see what I wrote for “N” ?

“Name”

By Sammy Kimmell, Sept. 14, 2017

Your name is something you’ll have all your life

Unlike some friendships or maybe your wife!

Your name follows you around from town to town

Like Sampson the Great or Bozo the Clown!

We don’t choose our name, it’s chosen for us

That makes it all easy, so much less of a fuss

When I joined my family they called me “Sam”

It suited me perfectly, like Seuss’s “Sam I Am” !

My Dad chose the name and it felt just right

I loved hearing my name – I was high as a kite!

My Dad is a name guy I suppose you might say

When they adopted their next kitty, it was the same way!

Dad chose the name and it fit to a “T”

He knew right away what his name should be!

He would be  “Teddy” and that name just plain fit

He’s a dear sweet ginger, a most special kit………

The family is complete though I’m now far away

But the four of us know we’ll be together some day…………

So that’s my poem for this week – how about you?    Want to share your poem with us?  I hope you do……………….and if not THIS week, maybe NEXT week you’ll join in the fun?    If you have problems coming up with ideas for next week’s letter which will be “O”, here are some ideas to get you started – remember you don’t have to use one of these words – you can use any “O” word you like!

(1) Open (2) Octopus (3) Olive (4) Odd

There you have it my friends……………..another poetry day has come and gone…………….it’s always fun sharing my poem with you.    I’ll see you again next week here on the blog with my little brother Teddy…………..until then, WRITE A POEM – YOU’LL BE GLAD YOU DID!

Your Friend and Angel, Sammy the Poet !

♥♥♥

Thank you Angel Sammy……………I love “seeing” you on Poetry Day!

Before I go I hope you will say a very VERY special prayer for my super good friends Raz and Allie and most especially their Mom  Miss Sharon at Friends Furever  today……………..they need all the strength you can send to them please………….You may visit their blog at the link below……….but whatever you do, keep them in your heart…………….

It’s Two For The Price Of One Day!

Thankful Thursday Blog Hop and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Hello Friends!   Today we do a “double dip” of posts with two of our favorite things:   Brian’s Thankful Blog Hop AND our own Angel Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday.    First though we want to be thankful.   If you’d like to be THANKFUL on Brian’s Blog Hop, just click the badge and be whisked away to his blog long enough for you to use the Linky Tool and join up to share your “Thankfuls” too!

There are a lot of things to be thankful for and one of them is that the people so devastated by Harvey in Texas and Louisiana have been promised they will get all the help they need to recover from the amazing amount of rain and flooding.   So many people and animals are without homes now and we hope that all the rhetoric about HELP is truly going to be there for those that need it.   It’s mind boggling how much rain and destruction from that rain is throughout that entire region.    We are thankful for other things as well but that is the BIGGIE……..and the other thankfuls almost pale in comparison to the generosity many have shown in sending help of all forms.

If you click the badge below, it goes DIRECTLY to the American Red Cross’s page to help specifically for those effected by Harvey:

The second part of our post today is to enjoy the weekly fun we have when Angel Sammy emails me his POEM for Thoroughly Poetic Thursdays and I publish it on our blog and invite all of YOU to share your poetry with US on your own blog!    Here’s what Angel Sammy sent to me last night.

♥♥♥

Hello my friends!!!!    It’s me – Angel Sammy and I have my weekly poetry challenge completed for you – and I hope you have played along this week and have your OWN poem to share with all of us in return.    If you do, you can either write it out in my comments for all the world to see OR give us the link to your poem in my comments and we’ll follow the trail to read your masterpiece.   The deal is you have to write a poem that’s about something starting with the “LETTER OF THE WEEK” as we move through the alphabet.    This week we are up to the letter “L” and I gave you some prompts to use if you needed help – – – but your poem can be about ANYTHING starting with an “L” !    Here were your prompts:

(1) Lamb (2) Love (3) Lap (4) Lunch

When I was still there, one of my FAVORITE things was to sit on my Mom’s lap so that’s what I wrote about this week……my Mom’s warm lap!

“Mom’s Lap”

By Sammy Kimmell, August 31, 2017

Whenever I felt the need for a nap

I knew the best spot – it was on Mom’s lap

She’d sit for hours if I was asleep

And when I say “asleep” it was VERY deep!

I’d hardly move and neither would she

Even if her legs fell asleep she’d not move me!

She’d wait until I woke up and popped down for a snack

So she could stand up straight and unkink her back!

I loved a warm lap for my whole life through

Though towards the end my joints hurt me too…….

Mom would lift me up in her arms and sit in her chair

I felt warm and safe whenever I was there

Sometimes now though I’m no longer there

I fly down to visit when she’s in that old chair

I lie softly and quietly so she doesn’t even know…….

Then her mouth forms a smile and her cheeks have a glow

She knows that I’m visiting from my home up above

To enjoy her soft lap where I feel her warm love……..

♥♥♥

Now it’s your turn!   If you’ve never written poetry – give it a try!    Any “L” thing you may think of you can write a poem about – remember any kind of poetry works – it doesn’t even have to rhyme.   Give it a whirl.  You’ll be glad you did…….then share it with us.    Meanwhile, I’ll get back to work here at the Bridge and I’ll be thinking up a poem to share with you NEXT Thursday.    Here are your prompt letters for “M” which is next Thursday’s letter.

(1) Marvelous (2) Mom (3) Mud (4) Meow

Those are just to get your creative juices flowing – use one or more of these if you like…………..have a great week – I’ll see you next Thursday if not before (in your dreams??).

Love, Angel Sammy the Poet

Thanks Angel Sammy………………..and now I think maybe I’ll get to work trying to write a poem myself for next Thursday – maybe we can BOTH have one to share with everyone by then!

I have a SECOND post for today coming – it’s going to be for SHOPPING AROUND THE WORLD and I’m helping Bacon and his Mom out by HOSTING it for them this month – this month we’re doing SNACKS and you need to share your recipe for your favorite snack, including prices of items used to make it!    Remember to link to BACON’s BLOG too!!!!

Love, Teddy

Mom, you do the shopping and I’ll do the napping!!!

We’re THANKFUL and Poetic on Thursdays!

We are thankful every day but especially so on Thursdays when we publically share (thanks to our host Brian) what we’re most thankful for that week.   If you click the badge above you can go to Brian’s blog and use his LINKY tool, hook up and tell us what YOU are thankful for this week too!

I am thankful this week for the fact I was alive for a total eclipse of the sun…….notice I didn’t say that I actually SAW the eclipse – because to tell you the truth, I slept through the whole thing.   My Mom and Dad saw it though – and it wasn’t “total” here in Virginia but it was still pretty darn magnificent so they say.    At least I was HERE for the eclipse and that’s still pretty special since a total eclipse of the sun doesn’t happen every week!

I’m also thankful that there’s good wifi service at the Rainbow Bridge because it means that my brother Angel Sammy and I are in contact AND he can transmit his Thursday poem to me in time for a tradition he started on the blog way before he went to the Bridge – his “THOROUGHLY POETIC THURSDAY” posts.    Thanks to him sending me his poetry every Wednesday night, I can share it with you on Thursdays just like he was still here (which I wish he was!).

Remember you can join in on poetry day too – it’s not a standard “hop” because we don’t have LINKY but you can still write a poem, post it on your blog, and give us your blog link on my comments OR even put your poem right there in my comments – and we can read your MASTERPIECE!    Poetry is fun……..poetry lets those things inside OUT – and that goes for any kind of feeling or thought that you have or wish you had.  The beauty of poetry is it is EVERYTHING………….so write a poem today……..I bet you enjoy it and I know we would enjoy reading it too!

Here’s what Angel Sammy transmitted to me last night:

Hello my friends and GREETINGS from the Rainbow Bridge!

Today is my poetry challenge and last week if you’ll remember, I gave you some prompt words starting with this week’s letter of the alphabet which is the letter “K”.    Remember that the prompt words aren’t meant to restrict you to THOSE WORDS – you can use as your subject ANYTHING at all starting with the letter “K”.     I just give you prompts in case you can’t think of anything starting with “K”!!!    The prompts for this week were:

(1) Kiss (2) Key (3) King (4) Kindle

Teddy said he thought it would be cool if I could use ALL the prompt words in a poem this week…………..well, I wasn’t so sure about that but I thought I’d give it a whirl so here we go!

“A Symphony of K”

By Sammy Kimmell, August 23, 2017

There are so many things that I now miss

Like my every single day “Morning Mom Kiss”

She always greeted me like I was the King

Her smile each day made my old heart sing

From the day they brought be home, my love they did kindle

With each passing year,  love for home didn’t dwindle

I learned about life, love, and so much more

At the end I was prepared and unafraid of the next door……

Through it I went knowing at last I was free

At the Rainbow Bridge with my bright golden key.

♥♥

Whew!  I did it – not my best poem by any stretch but I challenged myself to use all the words and by golly I did!    I hope you have written something for today and will share it with all of us too.   Poetry makes you feel GOOD………it lets out feelings that you might find hard to express otherwise.   That’s a GOOD thing…………….now here are your prompt words (if you need them!) for next Thursday.    But remember, you don’t HAVE to use one of these, you can use any “L” word you want to!    Ready?

(1) Lamb (2) Love (3) Lap (4) Lunch

Until next Thursday, I will bid you farewell and head back to my work at the Rainbow Bridge……………….just know this – I miss you all.    But if you listen REAL hard when you’re lying in bed just before you drift off to sleep, you might hear me say “Sleep Well My Friend”……………………

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy for another poem……………..I’ll look forward to seeing what you send us NEXT Thursday.    I’ll see you in my dreams – I know that for sure………………..

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Two For One Day!

First up is Thankful Thursday Hop with Brian – one we look forward to every week because we can publically share what we’re thankful for this week.    I am VERY thankful that my Mom and Dad are so understanding of my need to go for walks outside.   I know they wondered if I would be like Sammy and easily trained on leash and harness and WOO HOO for me – I was most happy about it.   If it meant I could go outside and sniff and walk and dig in the dirt and eat grass then I was UP for it.    Every day I get at least three walks – Mom or Dad or sometimes both of them.    Lucky?  Oh yes indeed I am!

There are so many things I’m thankful for though – this is just ONE of the things I love the most.

The next part of today’s blog is my Angel brother Sammy’s FAVORITE thing – the Thoroughly Poetic Thursday challenge…………………..and he works very hard at the Rainbow Bridge all week then takes a break on Thursday to write a poem and email it to me via his Bridge Wi-Fi connection.    Here’s what I got from him LAST night to celebrate this week’s letter – the letter “G” !!

Hello poetry lovers!    Your old friend Angel Sammy coming to you from the Bridge and this week we are writing poems about ANYTHING starting with the letter “G”!    I also gave you four prompt words for you to choose from if you couldn’t think of your OWN “G” word – the prompts were:

(1) Garden (2) Giggle (3) Groceries (4) Grandma

I had a lot of trouble deciding which of these to write about but I wound up picking my favorite because it was “Mom” time for me when she worked in her Garden!

“G” is for Garden

by Angel Sammy Kimmell, 7/26/17

Gardens are places where hopes can grow

You plant some seeds and watch the show!

Young seedlings pop up from the soil

Then comes the hard work but it’s worth the toil!

Veggies and flowers my Mom had gardens galore

She loved them all but the deer loved them more!

The critters would munch and get their fill

Mom’s All You Can Eat Buffet served food and they got no bill!

Time went on and she decided to change

No longer in the yard – she changed her range

She gardened on the porch and on the back deck

Plants she could raise and the animals were in check!

The woods around the house provided plenty for them to eat

The birdfeeders sunflower seeds were STILL their treat.

Our gardens are smaller but at least they survive

I always helped Mom take care of them as long as I was alive.

Sam enjoying the front porch on a pretty fall day

So did you write a poem today to celebrate “G” ???  If you did, put your blog link in my blog comments here and we’ll follow the link to read your WORK OF ART!    Or if you’d rather, you can put your poem in my comments – we can read the whole thing right there!    It’s FUN to write poetry – it doesn’t have to be in any particular format – it doesn’t even have to rhyme.   Just put your feelings and thoughts on paper and SHARE!

Next week we’re moving on to the letter “H” and I’m going to give you the prompt words but remember you can write about ANYTHING starting with “H” – the prompts are just for fun and in case you can’t come up with something on your own!!   Ready?

(1) Happy  (2) Hobby  (3) Heart  (4) Home

I’ll be here next Thursday to see how you do AND to share my poem with all of you………………until then, this is your friend Angel Sammy heading back to do my work here at the Rainbow Bridge.   Remember, I’m always watching out for ALL of you………………

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Bro!   Thursdays just wouldn’t be the same without a poem from you.   We hope our friends write something to share too.    Speaking of sharing, Mom has some new photos of me beating up my poor old red tent.   It’s definitely on its’ last legs but I love it like it was brand spanking new.    I’m kind of tough on my toys……the old white mouse that belonged to Sammy’s has been reduced to a pile of rags (Dad’s old handkerchiefs) holding it together.   It looks just like a big pile of rags and I carry it EVERYWHERE – I even take it to the room where my Mom or sometimes my Dad happen to be and leave it so it can guard them and keep them safe!

This was Sammy’s old mousie – just a white mouse that he used to keep up on my Dad’s dining room chair…..until I found it of course!

This my dear friends is what’s left of Sammy’s white mouse – held together with “bandages” !!!  BUT I LOVE IT STILL!!

I’ll be back tomorrow with Friendly Fill-Ins Blog Hop…….see you then!

Love, Teddy

Double Post Thursday is Here!

FIRST we are THANKFUL with Brian………

I am thankful this week because Mom and Dad took me to the Vet on Tuesday to get me checked out!   Why on earth would I be THANKFUL for having to go to the stabby place?   Well, because it was only my third time in the car EVER – once coming home from the shelter when I was adopted, once for an initial vet check, and this past Tuesday for a BIG checkup.   Why did I need a BIG checkup?   Mom thought it was a big problem that I won’t eat wet food – I’m OK with dry but my favorite “dry” is TREATS!   Not a good thing – treats should be treats and not a main meal.   She also wasn’t sure if it was good that the only water I drink is out of the faucet.   That’s right – I go to the nearest bathroom and squeak (I don’t meow – I squeak) for someone to put me on the counter and turn on the water so I can get a BIG FAT drink.   Mom wants to get me a fountain – Dad says it’s gonna be just recycled water and I won’t use the fountain……..DUH…………. She also thought that MAYBE I was getting a little – well – how do I say this diplomatically – well CHUBBY is the word!     When I went to the vet initially after I was adopted, I was 11 months old and weighed 8 lbs.   Now I’m 15 months old and I weigh (gulp) 14 lbs!     Probably the treats I love says my doc.   So,  now I’m eating Fancy Feast regular REAL non-treat dry food which I find “ACCEPTABLE” !    So what about ALL OF THAT makes me thankful?     Because I’m thankful I have a Mom and Dad who love me so much they want me to get GOOD habits and to be HEALTHY always – that’s why!

Wanna tell the world why you’re thankful or read what everyone ELSE is thankful for?   Then click the badge above for Brian’s blog, go there and enter your blog address with the LINKY TOOL and join in the BLOG HOP he hosts every Thursday!

Now I’ll turn it over to Angel Sammy for HIS Poetry Challenge Post!

Hello friends from the Rainbow Bridge!    Today we are working on the letter “C” in our third go-round on the alphabet……………remember, the poems have to be about something starting with the letter “C” – OR you can use one of my prompt words that I provided LAST Thursday on the Poetic Thursday post!     Those words were:

(1)  CAR  (2) CAMERA  (3) COOKIE  (4) CARPET

What did I write and transmit to my baby brother for today’s post????   Stay tuned.

My poem is using the prompt last week with the word “CAR” !

“C”

“Car”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, 6/29/17

It was 17 years ago

When from the shelter I would go

Home with two people I would learn to love

People who were sent by angels above

I was such a lucky guy with a lucky star

UNTIL I GOT IN THAT AWFUL CAR!

For 16 years I’d have to travel

My patience and happiness would always unravel

I hated to be in that terrible thing

Because I knew what the trip would bring!

The vet was always my destination

THAT’s what would cause my consternation!

When I GOT there I was perfectly fine

It was the trip in the CAR that blew my mind!

I miss my parents more than I can say

But I don’t miss that CAR in any way!

So that’s it from the Rainbow Bridge this week……………hope you wrote a poem for the challenge – and if you did, you can post it in our comments HERE, or post your blog URL in my comments so we can come visit you and read your poetry!    Remember, it doesn’t matter if your poem rhymes – what’s important is that you give it a try…………everyone can write a poem………..honest!

With Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥

Thanks big brother…………………I am happy you have good wi-fi at the Rainbow Bridge so you can get your poem to me every week!    I hope we have lots of friends who decide to write a poem for “C” this week.   Now I’ll let everyone know what you chose for prompts for NEXT week’s letter “D” poem!    Remember everyone you can write a poem about ANYTHING starting with “D” or use one of Angel Sammy’s prompts:

(1) Danger  (2) Dandelion  (3) Dark  (4) Dinner

Great words Sammy!  Can’t wait to see what poems are written next week !

Til next Thursday!

Love and Hugs, Angel Sam and Teddy too
