Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday!    Today’s my double purpose blog post………….first half I’m being THANKFUL for something and sharing it in the Blog Hop hosted by Brian and second half is Angel Sammy’s Poetry Challenge.     First up though is being THANKFUL.   Brian hosts this Thursday Hop and you can join in if you click his badge above and add your link!    What am I thankful for today?   I’m VERY thankful that I have been allowed to be an indoor AND outdoor kitty thanks to my “Kitty Holster” harness.    It keeps me calm and when I’m wearing it, I don’t RUN RUN RUN like I do if Mom decides to “unharness” me.    I have learned to be the perfect front porch guard which is what Sammy used to do.   I’m thankful he taught me that by whispering in my ear from the Rainbow Bridge.  He’s my Guardian Angel you know!

Now for the second part of my Thursday blog post, I will “cut and paste” Angel Sammy’s email transmission to me last night………………he has great wifi at the Bridge and sends us his Poem and message every single Thursday.   Ready?   Let’s see what kind of poem he did this week.

♥♥♥

Hello Poetry Friends (and non-poetry friends too!)

Thursday means poetry.    I gave you all a photo last week and your mission was to spend a week thinking about the photo and what it made you think of or feel and then writing a poem about the photo!   It’s fun.  You should TRY it if you haven’t joined us yet!     Then you can post it on your blog and tell us you did a poem giving us the link to it in our comments here so we can read it – OR you can write your poem in my comments!!    Easy Peasy right?    The photo I gave you last week to think about is below along with MY poem………

“Creatures From the Black Lagoon”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    May 10, 2018

Eons and ages and centuries ago

When the earth was a much more primitive place

There were creatures of mammoth size you know….

With “not necessarily friendly” face!

They’d lumber around shaking the trees and ground

Their size was absolutely monumental!

Some roared with ferocity but some made tiny sounds

Like their voices were almost experimental!

They dominated the world until humans appeared

And they were stalked and hunted for their meat

The humans had weapons so they had to be feared

Conquering their size was quite a feat.

Eventually the dinosaurs disappeared

The world began to change

Other animals more tame and less feared

Began to roam the range

Humans made friends with smaller species of cat

Not as fierce as the tiger called sabertooth

Domestic and spoiled and THAT was THAT

And this story of mine is THE TRUTH!!

Ha ha……bet you didn’t see THAT coming right?    Well it was a fun poem to do……….and I hope you enjoyed looking at those dinosaurs and coming to some sort of brilliant idea about what to write – come on – share!    If I can do it so can you!    If you didn’t write one for THIS photo – maybe this photo which is NEXT week’s challenge photo will appeal to you.   Give poetry a try.

I love this photo………..I hope it will inspire you in some way to write a poem about it for NEXT Thursday!   Until then, remember that I love all of you and miss all of you – and if you look up at the ceiling right before you fall asleep you just might see the flicker of Angel wings – it may be your own Angel or who knows – it might be ME stopping by to say goodnight.

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Hugs, Angel Sammy

Thank you Angel Sammy…………….I liked your poem this week………and I just want to say that even though I never KNEW you, I feel like I did and I MISS YOU.    I’ll look forward to reading your poem for next week.

Hugs to Everyone,

Teddy

Hello and Happy Thursday!    Today we start off with being THANKFUL on Brian’s Blog Hop.   We all share something we are thankful for and let’s face it – we are all thankful for SOMETHING right?    Want to join us?  Please do – click his badge above and fill out the LINKY tool and you’re in!    Thanks Brian for hosting this.

Today I will say that I’m very thankful my Dad indulges me in my need to go outside.   A perfect example of just how special that is to me is today it’s raining like MAD – you  might say it’s raining cats and dogs in fact!

So you might expect that Dad would say “nope – not taking you out in the pouring rain – that’s crazy!”……………instead he put on his raincoat and rain boots and out we went.  He figured I wouldn’t go further than the covered front porch but he was WRONG.    I did go out in the pouring rain and ran all over the place getting absolutely DRENCHED.    He stayed under the roof of the porch until I wandered a bit far afield then he came down into the pouring rain WITH me and stayed with me.    After about 15 minutes even I had had enough.    Mom laughed when she opened the front door and wrapped me in a big old towel and gave me a rubdown.    Dad was just happy to get back in the warmth!     But I had to say that VERY FEW Dads or Moms would have done that – wouldn’t you say?    I mean it’s probably one thing if you HAVE to go outside in a pouring rain to do your business but I wanted to out there to PLAY.    Dad let me.   WOO HOO FOR DAD.

Now I guess you want to know if Angel Sammy sent me his poem for today and I must say OF COURSE HE DID!   Has he ever let us down?   Nope!   Here’s what he sent.

Time for Thoroughly Poetic Thursday!

Here we are yet again everyone – and I do hope you wrote a poem to share for today like I did.   I know it’s “just another thing in the week” having a poetry day but I am hoping that more of you will pawticipate since it’s just so much fun.    My sincere thanks (and a hug) to all of you who are writing a poem every week based on the photo I give you the week before.    I gave you a rather interesting photo last week don’t you think?   It was somewhat MAGICAL in feel and I bet you felt it too – I’m sure it reflects in your poems.    Here’s the photo you had to think about and write about followed by my poem:

“Magic Tree”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     April 26, 2018

An ancient old tree with arms spread wide

Plenty of holes for squirrels to hide

Time seems to have passed you by

As you reached your arms up towards the sky

Creatures you have held in your welcome embrace

Shelter and comfort, offering such a safe place

Storms, and winds and lightning strikes and hail

Have tried to batter you but to no avail

Your strength has kept you from an ending so tragic

I am absolutely sure you are a tree of MAGIC!

I wonder how many of you studied this photo closely and noticed one particular detail high up in the tree branches on the right side of the picture…………facing the sun is a cardinal………..and I would be willing to bet you it was thinking “this is MY tree and I feel the magic!”…………of course that tree can hold dozens of birds, squirrels, and all other manner of critters but for that cardinal all that matters is the magic moment facing the sun when the tree is ALL HIS!

If you wrote a poem be sure and tell us in comments here on Teddy’s blog……….OR you can even write your poem in our comments!    Just be sure and share……….we love reading your work.

How about next week?    I’m sure you can’t wait to see what photo I’m going to give you to spark your imaginations for another poem………….here it is:

Love that face……………this will be another great one to write a poem about…….It was nice visiting with you again my friends………I hope you will join me next week in sharing a poem.   I know you see a lot in this guy’s face.    Tell us all about it in a poem!

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love and Hugs, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy……..The face I love seeing the most is YOURS!    I wish it was here in purrrrrson so we could nap and play together but I know one day we will do that so I’ll be patient – I have a long life to live taking care of our Mom and Dad!

Hope to see all of you next Thursday as we are THANKFUL and POETIC together.

Love, Teddy

Me and Dad on a NICE SUNNY day (not like today for sure!)

I Am Thankful………….!

Time to be hopping along with Brian on his Thursday Blog Hop……..thanks again Brian for hosting this chance to share with the universe what we’re all thankful for.   If you want to join us – just click on the badge above……..visit Brian and hook up to the Hop!

Since this is the last “Thankful Thursday” before my birthday on March 4th, I want to say just how THANKFUL I am that I am celebrating my SECOND birthday here in my forever home with my Mom and Dad.   Last year I had only lived here with them for about 3 weeks when I had my FIRST birthday.    Now I’ve lived here a whole year since then and I know just how nice it is to have food, fun, and forever so I can really RELAX on this birthday right?    I’m also thankful Angel Sammy arranged my adoption – because I know in my heart he did JUST THAT!

Second part of our blog today deals with POETIC THURSDAY – Angel Sammy sends me an email transmission to post for him with his poem and a new photo for NEXT week’s poem.   I look forward to that every week – I hope you do too?

Here’s what I got from his cloud last night!

♥♥♥

Hello my friends………time to share some poetry!

Thursday is when those of you who are playing along with my challenge to write a poem each week inspired by a photograph that I give to you SHARE those poems either by giving us a link to your poem on your blog OR where you can post your poem in our comments on this blog!    However you want to do it – we want you to give this challenge a whirl.    When you look at a photo, you get an impression of something – a feeling, a memory, an emotion – can be anything that pops into you head upon seeing the photograph.    The fun then is to turn THAT into a poem!    Here is last week’s photo that I gave you to work with, and then my poem from MY impression of the photo:

“Waiting”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell  February 28, 2018

I stood on the bridge watching the setting sun

Feeling relaxed as the day was done

As the sun slowly sank on the earth’s horizon

My cell phone rang courtesy of Verizon

“Yes?” I said irritated at the noisy ring

Until then all I’d heard was birds on the wing

“Time for dinner” my Mom said and I turned to leave

But the sight that awaited me I just could not believe!

As I’d stood on the bridge letting my thoughts take flight

The tide had come in as day turned into night

I was trapped on the bridge for I could not swim

I’d walked out to this bridge on an “unthinking” whim

Thoughts of tides or times or dinner just hadn’t occurred!

If Mom had warned me, I just hadn’t heard!

What to do, what to do, I just couldn’t THINK

One thing for sure, my bridge would not sink!

So I called Mom back and told her the tale….

She reminded me of something which just couldn’t fail

I had been so lost in my thoughts that I forgot one BIG thing

I was an Angel now – and Angels have wings……………………….

Tee Hee.   Yes it’s a bit of a silly and fun poem this week – not moody as my poems sometimes are……….but that’s the thing about writing a poem – you can truly write about ANYTHING – you can describe how you feel, what’s in your head, something you can’t “speak out loud but can write about”……….and that’s why I say – GIVE IT A TRY!    I’d love for you to do that.    I also hope you liked my poem this week.     I can’t wait to read yours too!

Here’s my photo challenge for you for NEXT Thursday……………if you didn’t write one for today – see what you can do with this photo and I’ll see you next week OK?

Now this photo is gonna be tons of fun right?

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love to you all – Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy!   I liked your poem and I think that photo for next week ought to get some creative juices flowing with our followers – even those who haven’t written a poem before – maybe they’ll enjoy coming up with something.

Happy Thursday To YOU!   From Teddy

On a sad note……..we had to say goodbye to yet another friend – the beautiful and sweet Kali from CANADIAN CATS blog.   She and her sister Shoko ran the household together along with their Mom and Dad and we know they are missing Kali – so are we – Angel Sammy is making sure she feels “at home” at the Bridge along with all the other Angels.

You are missed…….Teddy and Mom

Thursday’s here!    Time to be Thankful “out loud” by joining Brian’s Blog Hop.   If you haven’t joined, please do – it’s easy – click the badge above and fill out the LINKY form.   Then you can share with everyone what you are thankful for this week.    For me, I’m especially thankful that it was not TOOOO cold to go outside for a little walk with Mom.   Yesterday it got to 50!    I was one happy cat.   Mom put my harness and leash on and out we went for a whole 20 minutes!     I had a good sniff around, ate some grass and checked on all my favorite spots out there.    I will be happy when it’s Spring and I can explore more of the yard.   I miss it!

I’m also thankful that wi-fi service continues to be excellent from the Rainbow Bridge because Angel Sammy is able to transmit his Thursday Poem to me so I can share it with you.    Remember we’re doing photo poetry now – not alphabet – and the photos have people REALLY coming up with some very cool poems.    You just look at the photo that Angel Sammy gives us each week and write a poem about whatever it makes you see/feel/think about.    Everyone will have a different idea from the photo.    FUN right?

Here’s what Angel Sammy sent me last night………………

♥♥♥♥

It’s Poetic Thursday!

Hello friends!    Time to share our poems for this week.    I hope you liked the photo prompt I gave you last week – you’ve had seven whole days to study the photo and see what it has to say to your heart and soul and what it’s inspiring you to write………..we all get different impressions from photos we see……….what did you see in this one which is the prompt for this week??

Here’s my poem………….I hope you like it!

“Careful Leap of Faith”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, January 10, 2018

Sometimes new things can be a little scary

Our bodies tell us to “watch out” and be a little wary

That’s a little safety valve that all of us possess

To keep us from going too far out and making a big mess!

To keep us from growing up too fast and taking too many chances

To think before taking a new job, or buying a new car or starting new romances!

A little caution is a very good thing especially when you’re young

Too much bravado isn’t good – some songs should stay unsung!

Baby steps are much more safe and sing a softer tune

Don’t be in such a great big hurry to grow up WAY too soon!

Trust that there are those who care and help you on your way

Just know that something that’s worth doing doesn’t HAVE to be done today.

Ta Da!   That’s my thought from that cute picture of the little boy and his Dad or big brother at the seashore………………my Mom says she can remember being little and letting the waves touch her toes and running away – it took her a while to trust that she could go up to her ankles, then her knees, then – well THEN she had swimming lessons.   HAHAHA    Did you write a poem?    I hope you will share it with us – tell us in comments you wrote one and give us your link so we can visit and read it……….OR put your poem in our comments.    But give poetry a try either way – you CAN write a poem – the best thing about poetry is it doesn’t have to rhyme and it gives you a chance to express yourself!

Now would you like to see the photo I’m giving you for next week?

I bet you’ll have fun with this one and we’ll find out how you did and how I did NEXT THURSDAY on Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday………so – is it a date?    Good!

I’ll see you then!

I will be here wearing my poetic French beret!! Oui Oui!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥♥

Oh I think that photo for next week is gonna be a good one!   Who knows – maybe I’ll get brave and write a poem too.

Hugs, Teddy
