Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday!    Today is TWO FOR ONE day here on my blog.    We always join Brian’s THANKFUL THURSDAY Hop – you can too if you click the badge above!    Then we also have Angel Sammy’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday as Part TWO of today’s post.

First comes being thankful though.    Today I’m focusing on thanking YOU – that’s right – YOU.   All of you who are faithful followers of my blog – who write to tell me that you love Teaser Tuesday and all the craziness of Ding Dong School……the ones who say writing poetry on Thursdays was something they never, ever thought of doing before but now they look forward to it.    Why am I thankful?   Because I enjoy having my blog and if you didn’t like what I do, I wouldn’t do it!   So I’m thankful for YOU.    I’m also always thankful that Brian has this HOP every week so we can all share.

Angel Sammy’s weekly email with his poem and photo for next week came in RIGHT ON TIME so below, you’ll find the message I received which really is for ALL of us not just ME!

♥♥♥

Greetings Poetic Friends!!

Time for us to gather together and have some fun with poetry.    You all know every week I give you a NEW photo to ponder and agonize (!) over as inspiration for a poem that you will write and share on Thursdays when I share MY poem written with that photo in mind.    Photos can be very inspiring and it’s so much fun to just let your imagination go crazy and write what you see or feel when you look at a photo.     If you wrote a poem be sure and tell us you did in our comments here so we can VISIT YOU!!

Here’s the photo I gave you last week, followed by my poem based on the photo:

“Climate Change?”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     November 7, 2018

So many things change for us over time

More rain has been falling and temperatures climb

Hurricanes, tornados, earthquakes and fires

It seems we’ve awakened Mother Nature’s ire !

Floods bring loss of life, homes, jobs, and land

Beaches erode with storms stealing the sand

The seasons used to be defined, predictable and true

But lately it’s changed – I feel it – don’t you?

Is it too late to reverse it or is this just “one of those years”

When things are unpredictable and we needn’t have fear.

The signs are all there and we shouldn’t ignore

Mother Earth is pleading with us on every continent and shore.

STOP and think where we’re going…..before it’s too late

We can’t ruin this earth………and just leave it to fate.

Well I can almost hear you saying “Angel Sammy this is another rather dire poem!!” – when I usually like to write something upbeat and fun but honestly, I have to say that those of us at the Rainbow Bridge have been looking on and wishing we could do more to “hold Earth together” in just about every way including weather!    But of course we can’t.   Humankind has to help.   So that’s what I thought when I saw this particular photo…………………WHAT DO YOU SEE?   WHAT DO YOU FEEL?

Here’s the inspirational photo for NEXT week’s Thursday Poetry Challenge – I kind of think this will be a bit more FUN and less SERIOUS than this week don’t you???

There you have it – inspiration for poetry for NEXT week!   Until then I hope you will have a super week………………….Thanksgiving is coming soon……….then – CHRISTMAS!   Wow…..time flies.     I became an Angel in December 2016.    Could it have been that long ago?     Seems like yesterday…………Mom says that too…………..   ♥

See you next week my friends………..

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love forever, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy and thanks to all of you who took time to write a poem and join in the Poetic Fun every Thursday!    See you next week right here to SHARE some poetry!

Where did all these leaves come from????

Hugs, Teddy

It’s TWO FOR ONE DAY!

First up for us today is being THANKFUL with our friend Brian – we all post what we’re thankful for lately and share our posts by joining the Hop -you can do that too if you click Brian’s badge above and fill out the LINKY form.   Why not – I’m sure you have something you can be thankful “out loud” for!

What am I thankful for today?   One thing is that in spite of the ridiculously hot and humid weather, my Mom and Dad continue to indulge me by taking me out on my harness for walks – actually we don’t do a whole lot of walking………I just take them down into the edge of the woods where I get underneath a forsythia shrub and lie down to watch through the foliage as birds and squirrels run by or fly overhead.   It’s like watching TV.   Very entertaining.   Mom and Dad can sit on the swing/bench there and hopefully NOT get bit by mosquitoes (sometimes those sprays just don’t QUITE keep up with the bugs!).    I’m also thankful that Mom got my reservation at Paws A While Pet Hotel CONFIRMED for when they desert me go away for a few days in October.   I love the place – I was there LAST year when they went away and those Sisters sure know how to spoil me!

I’m also thankful of course that we got an email from Angel Sammy which contains his poem for this week AND a photo for next week.    He said in a “P.S.” to me accompanying the poem that he hopes more of you decide to give writing a poem a try.   I hope you take him up on that challenge!!

Here’s his email to us……………..

Hello Poetic Friends!!

You know that August 28th was Rainbow Bridge Remembrance Day and I just want to say one thing………..you all spent the day recalling your pets of the past who were no longer with you and who were residing where I am here at the Bridge…….well, just so you know, up at the Bridge, all of US spent the day remembering all of YOU and wishing we could be with you again.   Love goes both ways you know.   One day we’ll all be together.   Believe it.

Now on to happier things – POETRY!    Did you write one this week to go with the photo I gave you to use as inspiration?    I did!    Here’s the photo you were to use to write your poem and following that is MY poem.   If you wrote one yourself – BRAVO!    Please give us a link to your poem OR write your poem in our comments.

“The Long Rest”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     July 29, 2018

When at last our long rest arrives

We don’t want tears in our loved ones eyes

We hope they know we are in a beautiful place

Our youth returned, smiles on our face

Our pain is gone, our infirmities have left

The only difficulty we have is to have you bereft

Don’t be sad because we are physically gone

We’re always there – from dusk to dawn

We’re by your side – we’ll kiss your cheek

We’re on the wind – no need to speak

In dreams at night we’re busy too

You’re NOT alone – we’re there with you

Our time had come when we had to leave

It broke our hearts to see you grieve

Remember one day we will welcome you here

It will be a joyous reunion – so have no fear………………

I hope this won’t make any of you SAD who have recently lost someone in your family be they human or animal because the leaving is painful but where we are, we are happy and waiting for the day we’ll be together again.   The statue in the photo above is so beautiful – and she looks like she’s merely asleep……..resting peacefully.    Someone put flowers in her outstretched hand – but believe me – SOMEONE was there waiting to take hold of her hand and welcome her “home”.

Now how about a photo for next week?    See what you can do with this one for inspiration!!

Can you say HAPPY????   Oh yeah…………………I’ll look forward to meeting you here NEXT WEEK and we’ll share some poetry OK?    Join in the fun – everyone can write a poem – doesn’t even have to rhyme…..it can be in ANY form too.

I hope all of you have a terrific week ahead.    My little brother Teddy talked about his “Thankfuls” for the Blog Hop with Brian and I have a thankful to add of my own.   I’m THANKFUL that all of you are continuing to stop by Teddy’s blog and join in the fun around here…….with Tuesday Teasers, Poetic Thursdays, Bacon on Saturdays – lots of fun to be had around here I’d say.

See you next Thursday everybody…………………….hug someone you love today.   You’ll be happy that you did and so will they!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

Gosh Angel Sammy – I liked your poem this week but then I like your poems EVERY week.   Thanks for taking time out of your busy duties at the Bridge to bring us a poem every week.   Gives everyone ELSE a chance to be creative too!

HAVE A GOOD WEEK EVERYONE – WE’LL DO MORE POETRY NEXT THURSDAY

Double Blog Day!

Gosh – last Thankful Thursday I was saying how thankful I was that my Mom’s cancer surgery on her face on August 15th was OVER and done – and today I’m thankful that her OTHER cancer surgery on her arm (which was done yesterday)  is over and done…..they are confident that things are FIXED.   Now I’ll be super thankful if that’s the END of Mom’s problems.   We’ve had enough of THE BIG C.    Mom’s been dealing with the greedy stuff since the mid 1980s in one form or another and is BEATING IT whatever it throws at her so we will keep praying and hoping maybe the journey is OVER.

We all have things we ARE thankful for or SHOULD BE thankful for……….and Brian hosts this wonderful Blog Hop on Thursdays so we can all share those thankfuls with each other – if you’d like to join us, just click on the badge above and fill out the LINKY form and you’re going to be thankful right along with the rest of us!

I got the usual email from the Rainbow Bridge last night with a message from Angel Sammy.    He said to tell Mom he’d be watching over her today AND to send his poem for this week.   Ready to read his poem??????

Happy Thursday from the Bridge!

Whooopeeee!  It’s Thursday and I can spend a little time with all of you sharing some thoughts AND some poetry.    If you haven’t ever joined in our fun, all you have to do is take a peek at the new photo I give you every Thursday and let it inspire you to write a poem about what you see or feel in the photo – then share the link to your poem here in my comments on Thursday.   Easy right?   Then I will give you ANOTHER photo to use for ANOTHER poem to be shared NEXT Thursday.    So you have a whole week to write a poem.    I’m anxious to see what you wrote last week when I shared this photo with you for your inspiration:

Yep – this is a beauty alright.   When I chose this last week for you all to use for THIS week, my Mom got all dreamy-eyed and said it brought back a lot of very cool and fun memories from “back in the day”.    She had lots of friends who had vans like this…..and in the 60s/70s it was just so very “groovy” to be in one heading to a fun party or get-together with friends.   So here’s the poem I wrote using THIS photo as my inspiration – let us know you wrote one if you did so we can read it!

“Groovin’ Down The Highway”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell              August 23, 2018

The stories I’ve heard would curl your hair

Of magic travels in a colorful bus from HERE to THERE

Of friends and parties, and LOVE, and fun

Of enjoying each moment between dawn and setting sun

Mom painted pictures, read tarot, embroidered butterflies and flowers

It was in those days that young people talked of “flower power”

That was so long ago but the memories remain

The memories are there but my Mom is not the same!

On the outside she has aged but her heart remains young

There are more friends to make and more songs to be sung

She’ll be groovin’ down the highway of life until her journey ends

With help from above, and from her VERY groovy friends!

I can only imagine what things were like back then but I’m glad that Mom has happy memories because sometimes she gets this dreamy look in her eyes when she talks about “the good old days” but I also know that she loves her life NOW and wouldn’t trade it for those days – after all, my Dad and I weren’t around back then!!!

Now, would you like to see the photo I picked out for you all (and me) to be our inspiration for NEXT Thursday when we get together to share our poems?    Here it is:

Kind of different subject matter but I think it’s going to be interesting to create a poem around it don’t you?

To those of you who wrote a poem along with me last week – THANKS – I love reading your work……………….and to those of you who haven’t ever written a poem or shared a poem you have written – I hope you will open the door to your creative heart and JOIN US next week!

Remember – I’m always with you – you’re my FOREVER FRIENDS………………..the Rainbow Bridge is never too far away for a visit!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

Oh boy!   Another week of poetry…………and next week’s photo is so beautiful – sad, but beautiful.   Can’t wait to see what Angel Sammy write AND what you write.    Meanwhile, please have a super duper Thursday.   Tomorrow is the end of another week.   Can you believe it????

The last sniffs of Spring are coming soon – before you know it FALL will be falling.

Love, Teddy

P.S.   Did you all vote in yesterday’s poll to pick a new Ding Dong Schoolhouse?  Well you should.   Every vote counts and it will be the school where Professors Angel Sammy and ME will be teaching Teaser Class in the future………we have some wonderful choices for you!   Here’s the poll:

Happy Thursday!   Time to be thankful for another week………………..this Hop is sponsored by our good friend Brian and you can join in and tell us your Thankfuls by clicking his badge above.   Fill out the LINKY tool and tell it like it is.     My “Thankfuls” this week include that Mom and Dad finally got the deck resealed and I can now visit it on my “walks” around the yard.   It was off limits for several days while the work was going on and now I can go up there and hang out if I want to.    Another thankful is that even though we were expecting a whole lot of firework noise yesterday we didn’t have ANY until last night and even that wasn’t so bad.    I wasn’t scared at all (well, hardly anyway!).

The other part of my post today is sharing the email I got from Angel Sammy via his wifi connection at the Bridge transmitting his regular Thursday poem to us.    YAY!    Below is what came through……………

♥♥♥

Hello everyone!    Here we are again on a Thursday sharing some fun with poetry.    By now you know that on Thursdays I not only share my poem with you that I based on the previous week’s “photo inspiration” that I gave, but I also give you a challenging photo for you to write a poem about for NEXT Thursday when we get together again!    Just put into words what the photo I give you “says” to you – how does it make you feel or what do you see/think about when you see it?     Pretty easy right?   Well you may think you can’t write a poem but you CAN – trust me.    Here’s the photo I gave you last week for you to write a poem about for today – followed by my poem.

“Movie Night”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    July 5, 2018

Drive In movies were very popular in the past

But like lots of things, they just didn’t last

People now prefer a cool movie theater seat

Rather than outside in a car – but back then it was a treat!

Date night meant going to a drive-in, getting popcorn, cokes and candy

Sitting close to your boyfriend in the car with the window speaker quite handy

Intermission you’d walk around, visit friends or get more snacks for “part two”

All around you other cars full of families or maybe couples like you!

It was cozy and private and MAYBE you’d see some of the movie……….

In your date night clothes and teased up hair you felt quite groovy…..

Well that’s what Mom says drive-ins were like but that was so long ago

I’m sure there were people there who ACTUALLY came for the show!!!!

HAHA……sorry Mom…….I had to write this one and it’s dedicated to you and your long-ago memories.    There are some drive-ins around these days but they are few and far between.

So now that I embarrassed Mom (!) and also had some fun writing this poem, it’s time for me to tell you that if you’ve written your OWN poem from the photo, please let us know and give us your link in our comments OR write your poem there to share with us.   C’mon!!!   We want you to give poetry a try……………..it’s FUN I promise.

Now here’s your poem for NEXT Thursdays poetic inspiration – you have a whole week to write a poem about this photo………..will you do it?   I hope so.

So I will hope to see you all again next week when we get together and share our poems based on the above photo – is it a date?    Until then, just remember that those of us up here at the Bridge are watching over you……all day every day……always and forever.

Love, Angel Sammy

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Thanks Angel Sammy……………….that was a fun poem and looks like that carnival photo will be a fun one too……………………..thanks for visiting us every week.    It makes me happy!

Time to be Thankful AND Poetic!

First we take care of joining up with Brian’s Blog Hop which is all about being thankful……………we look back at the week and find some thankfuls and we can ALWAYS find some!    If you’d like to tell the world about yours, just click the badge above and fill out the LINKY form……then share your thankfuls with other thankful peeps!     Today I want to tell a short tale of BRIEF freedom and my thankfulness that my Mom found me.    What am I talking about?   Well this morning Mom let me out into the garage thinking the garage door was SHUT.   I am only allowed out on my harness WITH a parent.    Guess what – the door was up – Dad had left it up when he went out to work on a project in our woods.   Mom did NOT KNOW THAT…………..over a half hour later she took iced tea to Dad and noticed that the door in the garage was UP.   PANIC BUTTON……………she ran around the yard calling my name thinking I could be ANYWHERE in thirty whole minutes of freedom……..our neighbor boys heard Mom screeching and came out to help find me and THEY did!  I was next door in their yard and had been the whole time.   Mom was so grateful to the boys and they were so sweet to help old Mom.    I was just glad to get back in the house to have a big drink of water and a nice cold floor to lie on!!!!   Will I do that again?   Probably not.   Mom will LOOK to make sure the garage door is closed.    I love my garage – I have a window seat out there that is my perfect spy spot.   I enjoyed my taste of freedom but know what???    THERE’S NO PLACE LIKE HOME!

Now, onward to the second part of our post today which is sharing the email I got from my Angel brother Sammy with you – where he’s used the photo challenge he gave us LAST week to write his poem.    Hopefully some of you have done the same thing – written a poem based on his photo inspiration – don’t forget to tell us you wrote one and share your link with us and everyone else!     Here’s his email from last night’s transmission from his laptop at the Rainbow Bridge:

Hello Poets and Friends!

It’s Thursday – the day we get together and share our poetry.    You know the drill – the photo I gave you last Thursday has been sitting around gathering dust since last week and then you remembered to take it out, dust it off, study it and let it inspire you to write a poem about it.   Easy right?    Well, I just want you to have fun with it.    And after I share the poem that I wrote I will give you ANOTHER photo to use for next Thursday when we’ll all gather together again and share our poetic efforts.

I really enjoy finding photos for you (and me) every week.   I try to find interesting photos and you all know as I do that everyone’s imagination is different so you might see something in the poem that’s different from what I see or anyone else sees………that’s what makes this FUN!

Here’s last week’s photo followed by MY effort at writing a poem inspired by it:

“Happy Days”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell     June 21, 2018

Laundry out there hanging on the old clothesline

Waving in the breeze and smelling fresh and fine

Mama’s magic in the kitchen cookin’ homemade delights

Every dish she creates yummy until the very last bites

Her aprons protect her dresses from all drips and splashes

Even after stoking up the stove she can wipe her hands of ashes

Aprons take a lot of punishment but they are very necessary

Keeping Mom’s dresses from cookin’ oil and juice from all those berries!

A week’s worth of aprons means a week’s worth of home cookin’

People drive by in their farm trucks and are always a-lookin’

They know Mama’s been busy when seven aprons on the line they see

They know she’s had a full week of work to feed her hungry family.

Well that’s my poem – where’s yours?   Just tell us in our comments that you wrote one, and give us your blog link OR write the poem in our comments if you want to – but whatever you do, write a poem because you will enjoy crafting something of your VERY OWN!    Poetry doesn’t have to rhyme – it just has to express something you feel or see or think……go for it.   If you didn’t write one this week – use the photo below to write one for NEXT week……………..we’d love to read it – honest we would!

Cool photo huh?   I think so…………..Notice the kitty in the foreground?   Nice touch huh?    Have fun with this one – I imagine there will be some really cool poetry next Thursday and I hope you will join me here to see mine and discover who else has taken a leap of creative faith and written their own!!

Meanwhile, have a great week my friends…………thanks for visiting Teddy’s blog on Thursday and EVERY day.    I may be gone but I’m still with you always.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Angel Hugs, Sammy

Oh Sammy I love your clothesline poem…………..our Mom says she can remember just how yummy things out on the clothesline would smell after being washed and all that fresh air drying things out.   Especially sheets – oh boy that first night in sheets dried out on the line was heavenly so she says.   I don’t need sheets to sleep well – just a quiet spot where I can dream!

See you all next week for Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Love, Teddy
