Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Time to be thankful – and we do have lots to be thankful for.    First up thanks to Brian for giving us a venue for voicing our thankfuls every week.   Join us if you like by clicking Brian’s badge above and linking up.   It feels GOOD to voice your thankfuls!     I’m thankful so far Mom and Dad are healthy.    Mom is totally recovered from her hip surgery and my Dad is ornery as ever (oops did I say that out loud???).

I’m also happy that I’m still hearing every single week from Angel Sammy – he sends me an email from his heavenly laptop which contains his poem of the week and a new photo for all of us to use when writing next week’s poem to share.    What fun!

♥♥♥

Here we are again!   Every Thursday – sharing poetry!

As you can imagine, we at the Rainbow Bridge are super busy these days keeping all of our former families as happy as is in our power to do so.    We sneak into their dreams, give them little signs we are “around” and watching over them………..it’s what Angels do – human Angels and animal Angels alike!

Did you write a poem to share this week?    I gave you a photo LAST Thursday to use as inspiration for today and I hope it worked for you.    Some people last week said it was a SCARY photo and others said it was a MOODY photo but everyone seemed UP for the challenge so let’s do this.   First I’ll show you the photo we had for our poetry project followed by my poem, then I’ll show you the new photo for next week.   Ready?

“Chill In The Air”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell    ©February 17, 2021

A carpet of leaves beneath my feet

My steps align with my heart’s swift beat

There is no sound in the fog so thick

I hold back a vine with my walking stick

Something or someone is up ahead

I approach with caution – and a sense of dread

A rotted tree trunk greets me as I approach

My wayward imagination I reproach!

Just goes to show that things are not always what they seem to be.     That shadowy figure wasn’t a figure at all – just an old tree trunk.     But it COULD have been almost anything and that’s what’s so wonderful about imagination AND what makes for fun poetry writing.

Here’s your photographic challenge for NEXT Thursday – you have a week to come up with something for this one…………………………

When my Mom saw this photo she said “when I used to go to the beach I would always look for a spot far away from throngs of noisy people – I loved the quiet”……..well I bet there’s no quiet around this place!     Imagine deciding to spend the day at the beach and joining THIS throng.    Now if meeting people is your thing, then a crowded beach might be a good idea.   But I kind of think my Mom has the right idea……….quiet……….peaceful………..somehow that seems a lot more inviting than this crowd.      Anyway it’s your inspiration for next week’s poem so have fun with it.

Until then, please stay safe, stay happy and WARM if you’re in a cold climate and COOL if you’re in a warm climate.    Here at Rainbow Bridge it’s perfect all the time!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

I wondered what you’d write for this weeks’ photo Angel Sammy – and I think you did a super job (as always!).   I bet everyone else did too and hopefully they’ll leave their links or maybe write their poems in our comments.     I will see you next Thursday – thank you for watching out for me, Mom and Dad…………..We miss you every single day.

Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Thank goodness it’s Thursday – and we can all be thankful together again.    I’m very thankful that Brian hosts this Hop – we can share our thankfuls and be reminded how lucky we are every week.   This week I’m super thankful that my Mom is doing so well after her surgery – she will be discharged from home care on Monday then start outpatient therapy.    YAY MOM!  Of course I’ve been of significant help – rooting her on from the sidelines – staying out of her “lane of traffic” in the halls so she doesn’t step on me – and keeping her company when she’s napping thanks to pain meds.   I’m ALSO thankful Angel Sammy’s poem arrived in time for me to share it with you as I do every week!

Welcome to Poetry Day!

Hi everybody.    Time for us to share poetry with each other – hopefully you used the photo I gave you last week as inspiration and came up with something to share with us all today.   I wrote mine AND I also found a new photo to give you as inspiration for NEXT Thursday’s Poetry Day.   Ready to start?

Here’s the photo from last week.   My Mom absolutely LOVED “I Love Lucy” and I’m sure there are some of you who have never even heard of it.    A truly crazy weekly comedy with Lucille Ball and Dezi Arnaz.     This photo was a shot from the adventure Lucy and Ethel (her “bestie”) had working in a candy company.    All they had to do was package up the chocolates as they came down the line………well…….the supervisor thought they were doing so well they could SPEED UP the line a bit……Lucy and Ethel had to resort to eating them, hiding them in their clothes, ANYTHING in order to keep up with the line.    Hilarious?   OH YES INDEED!

“Speed Things Up!”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell        ©January 28, 2021

It seemed like a good idea at the time

A decision based not on reason or rhyme

Getting a job in a candy shop

Candy being produced practically non-stop!

Package them up in boxes lickity split

No time to think – no time to sit

If you did a good job, they’d speed up the line

If you could keep up with the candy you were doing just fine

The supervisor decided the line could move FASTER

If you weren’t able to keep up it could be a disaster!

Lucy and Ethel decided candy packaging was not “the life”

It was much less hectic – and more safe – to be a housewife!

That particular show about the candy shop was a classic.    Talk about a good excuse for a giggle…………………anyway, that was fun and I think you’ll enjoy the photo I have as inspiration for your poem for NEXT Thursday too!   Here it is and you have a whole week to work on your poem to share with us next week………….

Talk about the WILD WILD WEST.    Looks like the genuine article.   There’s even a “saloon dog” on the floor by the bar.   What tales he could tell!     So this is your inspiration for a poem for next Thursday – give it a try – you might have fun coming up with something to share!

In the meantime, stay safe and healthy and above all SMILE……………………..we have a lot more to smile about than we did a few weeks ago RIGHT?   RIGHT!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy………and thanks to you for helping me take care of Mom.   She’s behaving pretty well though I must admit!     See you next week……………..

It’s that time again………..time to thankful and time to share poetry!    Brian is the host for the Thankful Blog Hop and you can get to his blog and link up with us to be thankful by clicking the badge above.    I’m thankful to have my house back to “normal” now that Mom and Dad have taken all the decorations down except for ONE THING – I miss my INSIDE TREE!!!!!   The rest of the trees around here are OUTSIDE and it’s COLD out there!   The INSIDE TREE was nice and cozy and warm and had a nice warm quilt under it and I had the BESTEST NAPS there.   Anyway, Mom promised me it will be back again next year.   I’ll try not to continue pouting.     I’m also thankful that Mom and Dad are still OK.

Now I’ll share Angel Sammy’s poetry email he sent to me last night………..you can see not only the poem he wrote for the photo he gave us LAST week to use as inspiration but the new photo for NEXT Thursday!

♥♥♥

Happy Thursday!   Ready for some poetry??

I hope you’re ready and I hope (sincerely) that if you have written a poem for last week’s photo you will share it with us.    Those of us who write a poem every week wish you would join us in using the photos I give you as inspiration for a little (or big) poem.    Poetry is fun and everybody can write poetry.   Give it a try will you?    We’d love to have you join us!

Here’s the photo I gave you LAST week followed by the poem I wrote.  By the way, I thought this was such a SWEET photo.   I like to think the big old dog wanted to play ball with the little guy……”C’mon – let’s play!”…….

“A Boy And His Dog”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©January 6, 2021

He can barely talk but he knows a few words

“Dog”, “ball”, are the two his dog has heard!

A boy and his dog are pals right from the start

A bond that is strong and stays deep in the heart

The moment was captured on film thankfully

A memory to enjoy for his whole family

The boy will grow up and his kids will have pets

Unconditional love is as good as it gets……………..

Life moves on at a frantic pace but those little moments between kids and their pets – just like the ones between kids and their parents – are indelibly ingrained in everyone’s memory.   They’re recalled throughout a lifetime in quiet moments while looking through albums or watching home movies……..it just might be that it’s all part of learning to LOVE – learning to CARE – learning about relationships.    One thing I know for sure, I was mighty happy to be part of my family before I had to leave for the Bridge.    I think my Mom and Dad will always remember me just like I will forever remember them.

Now – who wants to see the photo I found for you to write a poem about for NEXT week?

Gosh – I’m going to have to think about this one.    Would this increase the value of the homes in the neighborhood or………………….not?   HAHAHA     Anyway should be fun writing a poem about this one.    I hope you take it on as a project – you have a whole week to think about it!

Meanwhile, please continue to take good care of yourselves……………..and stay safe……….please.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love forever, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy as always for a fun poem and a great photo for next week too.    I’m kind of thinking I wouldn’t want to live in that igloo house – no windows to watch birdies and squirrels out of for one thing!!!!!

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Our “double purpose” post each Thursday – the Thankful Blog Hop hosted by Brian (which you can join by clicking the badge above and linking up) and Angel Sammy’s Poetic Thursday where we use a photo from Sammy as inspiration to write a poem.

Both fun things to do on a Thursday in the blogosphere……………so we will begin with our THANKFULS.    Our biggest “thankful” almost this whole year has been that me, Mom and Dad have remained virus-free.    Mom and Dad have been so careful – wearing masks, social distancing and pretty much not going anywhere except the grocery store.    I am their inspiration – they see me and think “who would take care of Teddy if we weren’t here???” and that keeps them ON TRACK and staying safe.

Angel Sammy gives all of us a chance to be creative every week too.    He gives us one week to come up with a poem to go with the photos he gives us on Thursdays.    All kinds of photos too – happy, sad, strange, vintage – a wide variety of visual inspiration and we can write any kind of poem we want!    Let’s get to his message for this week shall we?

♥♥♥

Ahhh….we meet again!   Time for poetry everyone!

Hope everything is still OK with all of you and your humans as well.   There is hope on the horizon and that should be lifting spirits now that there is treatment for the vaccine and perhaps life will soon be back to “normal”.     We Angels have watched the turmoil and sadness there with tears in our eyes………..we have hoped you have stayed safe.

Now on to another happy subject – POETRY.    I hope since you have had a whole week to think about the photo I gave you LAST week, that you have written a poem to share today.   I look forward to seeing what you’ve come up with!    Here is last week’s photo, and my humble contribution to poetry based on the photo:

“The Work Never Stops”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©December 9, 2020

At the freezing North Pole work is year round

Nobody tires of all the Christmas sights and sounds

Their mission is huge and the challenge of deadlines looms

But the elves keep on working in all of Toyland’s rooms

Building and testing and wrapping the toys

Knowing their work will please the little girls and boys

At last the day comes when it’s time to load the sleigh

Mrs. Claus waves farewell and Santa is on his way!

When Santa returns home with his mission of love complete

Mrs. Claus and the elves will gather in the snow and sleet

Everyone will rest after an incredibly long night

The empty sleigh and toy bag make a rather sad sight

The morning will come and the work will begin a new

Christmas is a year away but their work starts NOW for all of you !

My Mom says as a little girl she sort of felt sorry for the elves because they had to work year round to keep up with building all the toys the kids of the world had asked for Christmas.   I suspect it was a huge honor to be chosen as part of Santa’s Toy Building crew and the elves loved their work and didn’t mind at all that they had fun all day and got a nice paycheck with the steady work!   Especially these days!

So here’s the photo I found for you to use for NEXT Thursday’s poem……………….hope you will write a poem for this photo and share it with us next week.    If you wrote one for the Santa Workshop photo tell us in comments so we can read it on your blog!!

Somebody sure captured a beautiful photo with this one didn’t they?    There’s a lot to SEE and FEEL in this photo – let’s see what we all come up with for next week OK?   Until then, take care of yourselves and keep up the spirit of HOPE.    It’s worth hanging on to.

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love always, Angel Sammy

I’m getting very excited about Christmas Angel Sammy…………..I know you’ll be here in spirit and we have lots of Christmas ornaments of you on the Christmas tree, but I wish you could be here in person just one day so we could play together.    Sending you hugs…………

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Hello!   Welcome to Thursday.    Thursday is THANKFUL DAY and it’s also the day we play around with poetry with Angel Sammy.     First up we must be very thankful because we were extremely lucky with the Tropical Storm that blew up the coast yesterday and day before – we had a whole lot of rain but no tornadoes or damaging winds.    Many were not that lucky so we SHOULD be very thankful.    Hope all of you were that lucky too.

Angel Sammy’s email is below and he shares not just the poem he wrote for this week based on last week’s photo but gives us all a photo inspiration for NEXT Thursday too!     Ready?

♥♥♥

YAY – It’s Thursday – Time For Poetry!

Hello friends…………..greetings from the Rainbow Bridge.    We Angels have been keeping an eye on things down there and it seems there’s a whole lot going on that we are unable to help you with.   Particularly that nasty virus – you all will have to just do your best to follow the rules because some things we can help with and others you must help yourselves………OK?

Now let’s talk poetry.    Last week I gave you (and me) a photo to use as inspiration for a poem and below you’ll find MY humble effort.    I hope you wrote one too and if you did, tell us that in comments so we can read it and enjoy it.    Poetry is a lot of fun and particularly if we’re all looking at the SAME photo and seeing different things – imagination is a wonderful thing!

“Lady In The Mist”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell        ©August 5, 2020

The hounds guard the lady from every direction

Her gown moves in the breeze with sheer perfection

She waits in the mist for her love to arrive

The anticipation is building and the woods are alive

In the distance the sound of hooves faintly heard

Her heart beats so fast as she whispers one word

“Antonio” she says as her heart skips a beat

His black stallion arrives and their eyes and hearts meet…………..

Yeah kinda “mushy” isn’t it.    Well I couldn’t help myself – even a cat has romantic feelings and thoughts you know!    I found out that back in “the day” royalty would always ride with dogs alongside to provide protection.    I thought these dogs in the photo were keeping an eye in all directions for danger.   Very cool.

So I have another photo for you to use as next week’s poetic inspiration…………..here it is!

Another bit of nostalgia……………..thought this one might be a fun one and bring back some memories to some of you too (like my Mom!).     So we’ll get together next Thursday and see what we’ve come up for this one OK?   OK – it’s a date!

Have a good week until then………….stay safe………………….do the RIGHT things for YOU and for those around you………………..

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Hugs, Angel Sammy
