Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Happy Thursday!   This is our “two for one” day you know……………first up we join Brian’s THANKFUL THURSDAY Blog Hop by telling our “thankfuls” for this past week.    You can join in with us by clicking his badge above and doing the LINKY form…………in the meantime I can tell you that I am VERY GLAD that my Mom saved me from a “difficult” situation yesterday.   I thanked her by giving her a big sloppy kiss after she rescued me.   And I didn’t squirm around in her arms when she picked me up and I am normally a world class squirmer.   That’s because I knew she’d “saved my bacon” …….what am I talkin’ about?   WELL, yesterday Mom and I were in the front yard and she decided while I was sniffing around in the grass and poking around in the leaves that she’d do a little weeding in the front stone garden.   She dropped my leash and pulled up some whopper-sized weeds then looked over at me and she saw that I had ventured beyond the EDGE of the front wooded area and through the big pile of leaves Dad blew in there last Fall……..I was dragging my leash behind me and headed right into all the sticker bushes/vines like I was TOTALLY FEARLESS.    Well, that didn’t last long because I managed to get into a spot that was so full of sticker vines that it was like being in a cage.    I couldn’t even MOVE!     Meanwhile Mom went AROUND all the leaves into a clearing and hiked through the deep leaves and other sticker bushes up to where I was trapped.   Yes I MIGHT have had a panic look on my face……yes I MIGHT have squeaked a little for her to help me…..yes she got scratched by the stickers as she pulled them out of the way so she could get me out……and I was so grateful let me tell you!    Poor Mom almost fell in the deep leaves though on the way out of there – but she had ME in her arms and she wasn’t gonna let go and managed to catch herself before she hurt herself (or me!).     See?   How’s THAT for a THANKFUL story this Thursday??!!

Now, onward to Part Two of today’s blog post and that’s presented by my Angel brother Sammy – it’s his THOROUGHLY POETIC THURSDAY day and he always emails via his Rainbow Bridge laptop a poem to share with all of you – based on the photo “inspiration” he gives us all the week before.   Every Thursday we have a new photo and we write a poem about the photo – what we see, feel, etc. when we look at the photo.   Those of you who are participating in this challenge are SO GOOD!    It’s so much fun to read your poems!

So without further delay, I give you the contents of Angel Sammy’s email !!

Here’s the photo followed by my poem!

“Market Day”

by Angel Sammy Kimmell     April 11, 2018

Listen to the calls of the market sellers

Shoppers huddle under their wet umbrellas

Fresh, new produce right from the farms

Customers purchases in bags hang from their arms

The aromas all mingle in the open air

Smiles on faces are everywhere

The best of the best all on display

Who wouldn’t want to shop this way?

In a commercial grocery you never really know

Is everything fresh as the stamped on dates show???

It’s hard to know how old those lettuces are

It’s hard to tell if those oranges are up to par

You can’t always ask for a sample to taste

At the farmers market you know your money you won’t waste

An open air market with sellers who care

The bounty of the earth they are eager to share.

Farmer’s Markets are EVERYWHERE.    You are supporting your local farmers if you purchase there, you make friends with people who are proud to show off the fruits of their labor, you get the freshest food at the most reasonable prices.    Farmers can tell you if their food is TRULY organic vs. a sign at a grocery claiming that.    Anyway, my Mom and Dad always try to visit the markets when they travel.    A loaf of fresh bread and a chunk of fresh cheese makes a very good snack while walking through a city or hiking a hill.    This photo is a great example of the FEEL of market day just about anywhere on earth that you can find one.    The Farmers Market here in our small town is every Tuesday and Saturday.   You can find my Mom and Dad there.   You betcha!

I have another photo for you for NEXT Thursday…………your mission is to write a poem based on this photo………you know the drill – and I can’t wait to see what you write!

So good luck writing a poem for this one………………………….!   I’ll have mine ready to share with you next Thursday.   Until then, have a wonderful week…………..I’ll be watching you from the BRIDGE!!

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love and Hugs, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Oh boy – I love the photo for next week.    Ought to be something to see what people write about that one………..scares me just looking at it!     See you all next week (or tomorrow!).

Love, Teddy

I love watching stuff come out of this machine!!

Thankful and Poetic THANKSGIVING

Standard

Today is of course Thanksgiving here and in many other places and we think it’s the PERFECT arrangement because Thanksgiving focused our attention on our “thankfuls” and Brian’s Thankful Thursday is right there to remind us to share!     First we thank Brian for HAVING Thankful Thursday – and if you want to join in this Hop – click the blue graphic and join in the Hop to share your “thankfuls” !!    We in my house are thankful for many things……..I’m certainly thankful I got adopted into this happy home, and my Mom and Dad say they are thankful they found me at the shelter too.   I know that Angel Sammy had something to do with that (!) so I am most thankful to him for that.      I’m thankful for our many friends online and offline as well – we are so blessed to have so many.

We mean that too!!!!

As we wind down the month of November, we are getting closer to the one year anniversary since Angel Sammy got his wings and took off in his beautiful balloon to visit all of his friends one last time on December 2nd………it was the saddest day ever for my Mom and Dad but thankfully he remains in touch with us – we feel him in our hearts all the time.    He didn’t let me down this week either because in spite of his busy Angel duties, he transmitted his POETRY to us yet again via his wi-fi cloud connection at the Bridge!

♥♥♥♥

Happy Thanksgiving from the Bridge!

Oh I would never let you or my little brother Teddy down that’s for sure – so I did write a poem for today……….you may remember that we are up to the letter “X” in the alphabet challenge and last week I told you because “X” is a toughie to come up with a word for, you could write about ANYTHING you wanted to this Thursday.     I’m sure I’m not the only one who will do a poem about Thanksgiving right?    I hope you wrote a poem to share with us – you can put your blog link in our comments here OR put your poem in our COMMENTS if you want to.    Please give writing a poem a try – I promise you will enjoy doing it and enjoy sharing it too!

 “Happy Thanksgiving”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, Nov. 23, 2017

Today is the day that some of us sing

“Thank You God” for so many things

Thanks for teaching us love although some lose their way

Thanks for allowing us to talk with you when we pray

Thanks for our homes, our friends, and our health

For these things are riches beyond monetary wealth.

Thanks for blue skies, green grass, and abundant love

We would wish that for everyone on the wings of a dove

A dove is a symbol of peace we all know

We hope we may feel peace in our hearts as it glows

We are thankful for each moment, each hour, and each day

And so very thankful that you will show us THE WAY…………………

I hope you will take time today to be THANKFUL……………..I am so thankful that you all visit our blog every day and play along with us as we have fun here every day of the week.    We are coming down to the wire on our ALPHABET CHALLENGE with poetry and next week we have one of the TWO last letters of the alphabet to celebrate – the letter “Y”!     Just in case you need a little help thinking of something to write your poem about, here are some suggested words – BUT remember you can write a poem about ANYTHING that starts with the letter “Y” !    Ready?

(1) Yesterday (2) Yummy (3) Yellow (4) Year

I wish each and everyone of you who is celebrating Thanksgiving today lots of love, good food, good cheer and friendship……………………we are blessed!   I want to leave you with a BIG SMILE – this one is courtesy of my hero, Garfield!!!

Well Angel Sammy I couldn’t have said it better myself (the poem OR the Garfield graphic….haha).     We will see everyone next week for “Y” day…………..and we will also be announcing what the NEW Poetry Challenge will be once we reach “Z” !    Hopefully you will like our idea…………………in the meantime – give someone a HUG today – you will be glad you did and they will be THANKFUL for it!

With Love and Thanks, Angel Sammy and Teddy too

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Twice The Fun Thursday Is Here!

Today we will join Brian’s Thankful Thursday Blog Hop AND my brother Angel Sammy will showcase his weekly poem with something celebrating this week’s letter of the alphabet – “F” !

First my “thankfuls”………….if you’d like to share your thankfuls, hop on over to Brian’s and use the linky tool (click on his badge below to go to his blog) to tell us what you’re thankful for – add your blog link and we’ll see what you have to say.   We all have something to be thankful for….sometimes it doesn’t seem like we do, but if we think about it, there are things all around us to be thankful for.    I’m thankful that even though it’s hot as heck outside my Mom and Dad who do NOT like “hot”, are still taking me out for a walk when I demand ask them to.    They try to stay in the shade but I like a bit of sun myself and they will indulge me.   I’m so thankful for such understanding parents!

Now for Angel Sammy!!!

Here’s what Angel Sammy transmitted to me overnight from the Bridge for today’s Thoroughly Poetic Thursday!     First of all, today’s letter is “F” and he told us we could all write a poem about ANYTHING starting with the letter “F” or use one or more of his “prompt” words – which were:

(1) Feast (2) Frog (3) Frosty (4) Family

Here’s what he sent to me through his Cloudtop Computer!

Hello My Friends!    Are you ready for some poetry?

Today we do “F” and I’m using one of my prompts – the word “FROG”……….why?   Well some of you who have been following this blog for a while know that for many years I had a good friend who lived under the steps of my front porch at home.   His name was Freddy and he was a frog.    I saw him every Spring for several years – although truth be told, whether it was Freddy or one of his relatives I’ll never know for sure.   ANYWAY, he was my inspiration – we used to have such fun!

“F”

“Freddy Frog”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell 7/20/17

An unlikely friend some would say

But friends we were back in the day

Every Spring he’d come out to greet me

We didn’t arrange it – he’d just plain meet me!

The front porch was where we usually met

My water bowl was there and Freddy would be WET.

I knew he’d bathe in my water bowl you see

The telltale puddle was the big clue for me……

Then off the porch we both would hop

Down the sidewalk we’d go – at the driveway we’d stop.

Our “game” started when Freddy sat still…..

I’d give him a pat using my most tender of skills!

He’d hop when I’d pat him – just once then he’d stop

Until I patted him again then he’d take one more hop!

We’d go on with that for about 20 feet…..

Mom would be laughing as we moved down the street…..

Then he’d hop into the grass and go into the clover…..

That was the big clue that our game was over.

We sometimes would skip the game and just sit with each other

Then a car would go by and he’d run quick for cover.

One year he didn’t come and I worried and worried

Did an animal go after him and away he scurried?

By then I was older and not going out as much

Perhaps I’ll look him up at the Bridge and get back in touch!!

Mom took this photo of Freddy

I hope some of you also wrote a poem this week and if you did, please leave your blog link in my comments here so we can follow and read your poem OR you can even write your poem in my comments if you like.   It’s fun to write a poem – it doesn’t even have to rhyme….it can be haiku or ANY form of poetry too.   Silly or serious, doesn’t matter.   Just spread your wings and try to write a poem because you just might LIKE IT!     Here are your prompt words for NEXT week’s Poetic Thursday.    Remember, you can write about any “G” word or use one or more of these prompts!!

(1) Garden (2) Giggle (3) Groceries (4) Grandma

Until then my friends – take care of yourselves and enjoy every day!

Sammy the Angel Poet in his French Beret!

See you all tomorrow for Friendly Fill-Ins Blog Hop and whatever else I can think of to say in my blog!

LOVE, Teddy

(Having a good think in the sink……….)
