Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Hello!   It’s that day of the week we do TWO things – one is tell what we’re thankful for at Brian’s (see badge above and click to visit and link up to join us!) and the other is share with you the email I get every Wednesday night from the Rainbow Bridge……Angel Sammy’s weekly poem challenge!

Thankfuls?  Yep – I have some and one of them is that the weather has for the past two days been PERFECT.   Breezy yes…..but that keeps the mosquitos from landing on Mom so that makes me happy (and her too)…..they don’t hang around unless the air isn’t moving.    I’ve had TONS of outside time – my Mom and Dad indulge me like that.   I continue to find excuses to visit our old mulch piles from when we used to make our own mulch – we still have a bit left down in the front woods and I think that’s HEAVENLY to dig around in the mulch and make a little NEST to lie in.   Mom thinks it’s ridiculous and isn’t too crazy about me getting dirty.   Hey – what can I say?   Kids like to dig in the dirt!     I’m also thankful that this weekend is Father’s Day – I got my Dad a swell card and I’ll spend the day hugging his legs.   That’s what I do to show my affection since I’m not a lap kitty or snuggler.   I am a leg hugger though and a head bonker.

Now for Angel Sammy’s email – ready?

♥♥♥

It’s that time again gang!   Let’s get poetic!

I look forward to this every week and I hope you do too.   You get to show me and everyone else your poem that you wrote based on the photo I gave you last week.    I’ve written mine – so it’s time for “SHOW AND TELL”.     If you’d like to join us please do – all you have to do is look at the photo I give you on Thursdays and let it inspire you to write a poem – any kind of poem – short, long, any form……..just let it all hang out!

Here’s the photo from last week and my poem based on that photo:

“Hey Bro!”

Poem by Angel Sammy Kimmell      ©June 12, 2019

Hi lady with the camera in your hand

We know we’re cute and lookin’ grand

Hey Bro what do you say we freak her out?

Let’s scoot across the floor together and let out a shout!

Or we could roll over at the same time – that would be cute

Too bad Mom didn’t just let us wear our birthday suits!

I like our shirts though – we look very cool

Won’t we have fun together when we get to go to school?

I can be you and you can be me

No difference between us can I see!

Best pals for life let’s promise that NOW

If we could be cuter I sure don’t see how!!!!

I absolutely love this photo and so does Mom.    The other cool thing is as I told you last week is that my Dad is a twin.   He said his Mom dressed him and his brother the same for several years.   I don’t think they liked that much but you know the old saying “anything Mom wants” !!    These two little guys are so darn cute – sweet little faces and big blue eyes – I foresee a lot of FUN ahead for these two.    It was a great photo to inspire some fun poetry and if you wrote one, let us know in COMMENTS that you did so we can visit your blog and read it!

Now, I have another photo for you – AND we will get together again next Thursday and share our poems based on this photo……….

What a view!    Isn’t this a cool photo?  I think we can really set our imaginations FREE with this one don’t you???!!

Happy poem writing everyone…………I’ll look forward to seeing you all next week………….until then, spread some love and peace around you – maybe it will CATCH ON!

I am the Angel Poet in the green beret…..and I hope you join me for POETIC FUN each week!

Love Forever, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy……………..I bet some of our friends wrote some great poems this week AND I have a feeling they will be up for the challenge of that photo you gave them for this coming week……………it’s very cool!

Happy Napping!   Hugs, Teddy

Thankful and Poetic Thursday

Standard

Is it Thursday already?    My Mom is always talking about how QUICKLY she thinks time passes – I say it doesn’t pass fast enough but then I’m a little kid and she isn’t.    Well whether it’s passed fast or slow it’s still time to be THANKFUL as we are every Thursday with our buddy Brian – and if you click his badge above you know what will happen?   You will be transported to his blog where you can join in the Blog Hop where we are thankful too!

This week I’m thankful that even though it was cold cold cold out, my Mom and Dad indulged me and let me go outside and lie on the front porch in the sunshine.  Of course they were WITH me and I had on my leash and harness but I WAS outside and I did get some fresh air.   It was quite cold but nice.   I am also thankful that in spite of places all around us getting snow – we didn’t!

I’m always thankful as well when I get my weekly email from my brother Angel Sammy at the Bridge containing his poem for his Poetry Challenge.    Yep – I got it last night and here it is for your viewing pleasure.

Greetings from the Rainbow Bridge!

It’s another Thursday and time for us to share the poems we wrote during this past week using the photo I gave you as inspiration………….sure is fun doing this don’t you think?    If you’ve joined us before you know the deal…….I give you a photo each week and you write a poem about the photo:  how it makes you feel, what it makes you think, a funny story it reminds you of, WHATEVER inspiration you get, you write.   Easy?  Well for some people I guess it isn’t easy but really ANYONE can write a poem – just do it.     If you wrote one, me sure to put your blog link in our comments here OR write your poem out in our comments – either way we can read and share!

Here’s the photo that was our inspiration for this past week, followed by my poem:

“Overwhelmed”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell    March 14, 2018

Panic begins, breathing in gulps, hearts beat fast,

Fear grips the mind and you hope it won’t last….

Being afraid, scared, or worried is just not fun

You’d much rather be on a beach in the sun!

When life is a mess or it seems to be so

It’s hard to relax and just let things go

The feelings of doubt, of sadness, or regret

Can seem like a wave that’s as big as it gets……..

A tsunami of fear that’s pulling you under

“Will I survive?”, you can’t help but wonder.

The WILL to go on can get you through doubt

When you break through that wave you’ll just want to shout

“I’m still here, I got through it, and I’m still alive…..

I’ll be stronger next time because I want to SURVIVE!”

Even though I am at the Bridge now I listen to everything my Mom says……..and this past week she talked a lot about “worry”……..and how easy it is for people to get overwhelmed by worry.    THAT was the inspiration for me this week along with this incredible photograph of a SURFER on a wave bigger than BIG – in fact it’s truly a tsunami-sized wave.    I’m sure it’s a thrill to surf and manage to come up for air after riding a wave like that BUT it’s not something I’d do that’s for sure!    When I found that photo I couldn’t believe it was real but I investigated it, and it is.    In fact, if you google “gigantic waves” you’ll see other HUGE waves…….

Now, for NEXT week’s poem photo challenge, I have a photo to give you and you have a whole week to think about it and write a poem about the photo!   Ready?

Talk about a pawsome campsite huh?   Well, it is just a huge cave in a jungle but it does STIR the imagination!    That’s what it’s supposed to do.    I hope you’ll write a poem to share with us NEXT week…………..about what you feel when you look at this photo.

Now it’s time for me to say goodbye……….I have duties to attend to you know.    Lots of them.    I don’t just lie on a cloud and float around all day you know!    I’ll see you soon……maybe in your dreams…………

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love, Angel Sammy

Thanks Angel Sammy!    I like next week’s photo – looks like a spot where Cat Scouts should go camping.   So we’ll see you next Thursday everyone?    Have a good week and a Happy St. Patrick’s Day on Sunday.

From Me to all of YOU!

I Am Thankful………….!

Time to be hopping along with Brian on his Thursday Blog Hop……..thanks again Brian for hosting this chance to share with the universe what we’re all thankful for.   If you want to join us – just click on the badge above……..visit Brian and hook up to the Hop!

Since this is the last “Thankful Thursday” before my birthday on March 4th, I want to say just how THANKFUL I am that I am celebrating my SECOND birthday here in my forever home with my Mom and Dad.   Last year I had only lived here with them for about 3 weeks when I had my FIRST birthday.    Now I’ve lived here a whole year since then and I know just how nice it is to have food, fun, and forever so I can really RELAX on this birthday right?    I’m also thankful Angel Sammy arranged my adoption – because I know in my heart he did JUST THAT!

Second part of our blog today deals with POETIC THURSDAY – Angel Sammy sends me an email transmission to post for him with his poem and a new photo for NEXT week’s poem.   I look forward to that every week – I hope you do too?

Here’s what I got from his cloud last night!

♥♥♥

Hello my friends………time to share some poetry!

Thursday is when those of you who are playing along with my challenge to write a poem each week inspired by a photograph that I give to you SHARE those poems either by giving us a link to your poem on your blog OR where you can post your poem in our comments on this blog!    However you want to do it – we want you to give this challenge a whirl.    When you look at a photo, you get an impression of something – a feeling, a memory, an emotion – can be anything that pops into you head upon seeing the photograph.    The fun then is to turn THAT into a poem!    Here is last week’s photo that I gave you to work with, and then my poem from MY impression of the photo:

“Waiting”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell  February 28, 2018

I stood on the bridge watching the setting sun

Feeling relaxed as the day was done

As the sun slowly sank on the earth’s horizon

My cell phone rang courtesy of Verizon

“Yes?” I said irritated at the noisy ring

Until then all I’d heard was birds on the wing

“Time for dinner” my Mom said and I turned to leave

But the sight that awaited me I just could not believe!

As I’d stood on the bridge letting my thoughts take flight

The tide had come in as day turned into night

I was trapped on the bridge for I could not swim

I’d walked out to this bridge on an “unthinking” whim

Thoughts of tides or times or dinner just hadn’t occurred!

If Mom had warned me, I just hadn’t heard!

What to do, what to do, I just couldn’t THINK

One thing for sure, my bridge would not sink!

So I called Mom back and told her the tale….

She reminded me of something which just couldn’t fail

I had been so lost in my thoughts that I forgot one BIG thing

I was an Angel now – and Angels have wings……………………….

Tee Hee.   Yes it’s a bit of a silly and fun poem this week – not moody as my poems sometimes are……….but that’s the thing about writing a poem – you can truly write about ANYTHING – you can describe how you feel, what’s in your head, something you can’t “speak out loud but can write about”……….and that’s why I say – GIVE IT A TRY!    I’d love for you to do that.    I also hope you liked my poem this week.     I can’t wait to read yours too!

Here’s my photo challenge for you for NEXT Thursday……………if you didn’t write one for today – see what you can do with this photo and I’ll see you next week OK?

Now this photo is gonna be tons of fun right?

Oui Oui – me in my French beret which inspires my POETRY!

Love to you all – Angel Sammy

♥♥♥

Thanks Angel Sammy!   I liked your poem and I think that photo for next week ought to get some creative juices flowing with our followers – even those who haven’t written a poem before – maybe they’ll enjoy coming up with something.

Happy Thursday To YOU!   From Teddy

On a sad note……..we had to say goodbye to yet another friend – the beautiful and sweet Kali from CANADIAN CATS blog.   She and her sister Shoko ran the household together along with their Mom and Dad and we know they are missing Kali – so are we – Angel Sammy is making sure she feels “at home” at the Bridge along with all the other Angels.

You are missed…….Teddy and Mom

Thankful and Thoroughly Poetic Thursday

Standard

Thankful Thursday (then we’ll get Poetic!)

First this Thursday we want to take some time to thank Brian for being our host for Thankful Thursday – you can pop over and join in the fun if you click his badge above and join the BLOG HOP to talk about everything we are THANKFUL for.    This week I am thankful for my very FIRST Christmas tree experience – Mom and Dad were a little worried about how I would behave with a tree in the library BUT I took a page from Angel Sammy’s book about how to behave around a Christmas tree and I am lying UNDER the tree on the tree skirt and minding my own business…..haven’t touched an ornament (although they are tempting) and have not tried to climb the tree (I’m not much of a climber anyway).    Mom and Dad are THANKFUL that I’m behaving!    See, I know Santa Paws has me on his NICE list now and I don’t want him to move me to the NAUGHTY list!

I’m also thankful that Angel Sammy got through the clouds from the Bridge on his wi-fi connecting cloud and send me his POETIC THURSDAY poem last night!    Ready?

♥♥♥♥

Happy Poetic Thursday Friends!

Time for our get-together on Thursdays each week to exchange some poetic thoughts……………we are at the END of the alphabet again and thanks to all of you who voted in the poll last week, we will be starting our PHOTO POEM CHALLENGE next week!     Instead of moving through the alphabet a letter at a time, I will be showing you a photo the week before and the following Thursday we will all write a poem about what WE see in the photo or what we FEEL from seeing the photo – or ANYTHING relating to the photo I show you!    I think it’s going to be tons of fun.   The photos can be ANYTHING………a place, a thing – ANYTHING.   I will give you your Photo for NEXT Thursday AFTER I share with you my poem for the last letter of the alphabet – “Z” !!

The prompts I gave you last week were just ideas for you – as you know by now you can write a poem about ANYTHING that begins with the letter “Z” – the suggestions were:

(1) Zoo (2) Zing (3) Zipper (4) Zap

I decided to use one of my own prompts for today!

“Zoo”

By Angel Sammy Kimmell, Dec. 6, 2017

A zoo is a place where animals are “kept”

Where things look so neat and sidewalks are swept

Where snacks are sold and kids carry balloons

But behind the scenes may be a much different tune

The animals living there really had no choice

They were unable to decline to go there – they had no voice

They are out of their element, far far from home

Sometimes in small cages where they cannot roam

It’s true that zoos are better than they used to be

They are eliminating cages and let animals run free

Wide open spaces and more natural food

It’s more comfortable for the animals and does them good

Zoos help the endangered and give medical care to the sick

The animals aren’t stuck in circuses and forced to do tricks

But one day it would be wonderful if we could see

A time when all animals could live lives that are free………..

It is true that zoos are so much better for the most part than they were when my Mom was a child………..animals looked so sad holding into the bars watching the people freely come and go.   Much like the way animals in shelters and pet stores look until they are lucky enough to get their FOREVERS like I was – and like Teddy was!

So enough about ZOOS – I hope you wrote a poem today to celebrate the LAST letter of the alphabet?  If you did, make sure you give us your blog link in my comments here – or write your poem in a comment……….we’d LOVE to read your poetic endeavor!     Those of you who have said that you’ve never written poetry before – neither had my Mom or myself until we tried – and we found it was fun AND challenging.

Next Thursday we begin the NEW Poetic Challenge.   I will give you a photo in my post here today – and next Thursday your poem should be ABOUT the photo…..what you see, what you THINK you see, how it makes you feel, what it makes you think of……….WHATEVER!   The photo is just a “springboard” to a poem…………I think it will be fun, and I hope you will enjoy it.   I had tons of YES votes in the poll we had last week so let’s give it a whirl!    Here is your photo for NEXT Thursday.    Ready???

Quite an unusual photo isn’t it……………………….let it spark your imagination – what do you see?   What do you feel when you see it?   Make up a story about it in poetry form – or ANYTHING it makes you think about.     Every week it will be a different type of photo – this is just our first one…………….SO – it’s a date right?  I’ll see you next Thursday and you will all write a poem about this photo.   YOU CAN DO IT!

‘Tis I ! Angel Sammy, zeeee French poet!!!

See you next Thursday!

Love, Angel Sammy

♥♥♥♥

Well this ought to be a lot of fun and VERY interesting too as a challenge…………………………..Meanwhile, I hope all of you have a great Thankful and Poetic Thursday!

Hugs, Teddy
